Guardians Book Two: Awakened:
Prologue:
Alyx opened his eyes and blinked at the setting sun coming in from the windows of the apartment. He rolled over and gasped pain lancing up his side. His ribs and bullet-holes hadn't healed. Especially not in just two days. Sain kissed his cheek, lying beside him.
"You awake finally?"
Alyx smiled and murred softly.
"Yeah."
They kissed softly before Sain pulled back,
"So what now? We apparently have to shift somehow. Changing our names won't be enough you know. Unless we get out of the country"
Alyx nodded,
"I know." He grimaced, "We'll think of something. But first let's rest and let our bodies heal."
Sain smiled softly as he wrapped his wings around her.
"Speaking of our bodies. How do you feel Sain?"
Sain glanced up at him,
"What'd you mean? I feel fine."
Alyx placed his hands over her abdomen gently,
"No, this is what I mean."
Sain looked away,
"Shit, happens. I didn't want a kid anyway." She blinked back tears, as Alyx gently kissed her churring gently in her ear.
"Liar. Denial doesn't make anything better." Alyx sighed softly and pulled Sain closer, "Is the price worth being rid of the GC's and everything else though?"
Sain whimpered softly,
"Yes. No... I don't know..." She pressed her face to his shoulder, "I was gravid. We had an egg... And they shot it... Unknowingly or not..."
Alyx didn't say anything he just closed his eyes.
They stayed that way for a little bit before Alyx kissed Sain's forehead gently,
"At least we still have each other. I watched you die, yet here you are." He smiled softly and Sain looked up at him and kissed him deeply.
"True enough love." She shook herself, "Life goes on."
