The highway was rather quiet in the early night in Singapore in the late January on a Friday. Nicholas Vidan and his family were on their way to the airport. His father was driving the family car, a 2006 blue Toyota Camry. His family consists of both of his parents and an older sister.

Nicholas was 17 year old that year, a 5'9" black panther but the rest of family were normal leopards. Nicholas wanted to be a marine biologist, but there was nothing that could provide that education in Singapore. So he was going to Perth to study, and his father would be coming along.

Nicholas personally wanted to go Melbourne, but his parents insisted on Perth as he had relatives there. His father's older sister was in Perth. She had two children, a daughter and an older son. Nicholas's mother suggested that he should take a final year in Secondary school there in Perth to be familiar in a new world at an early stage.

At last, they've arrived at the airport. Nicholas' dad drove into the multi-storey car park. He parked the Camry at the second storey. They got out of the car, got the luggages from trunk and entered the airport through the entrance linked to the car park.

The airport was not very crowded. Nicholas and family went to the counter to check in their baggage. Nicholas watched as his father help the assistant who was a raccoon to place the luggages on the conveyer belt.

"Three hours before entering the departure hall. How about we have dinner together, as a family?" Nicholas' father asked with a warm smile. His father's fur was light cream in color, wearing a blue polo shirt and brown jeans. The whole family did not object to the idea. "Who's up for Chinese food?" Nicholas' mother replied. Her fur was yellow, she was wearing white long sleeve t-shirt and black track pants. They took the escalator, to the third floor of the airport.

They entered a restaurant named "Royal Jade". Circular tables were everywhere, each having a cup filled with chopsticks. The walls were bright red and gold lanterns were hanging on the ceiling. They sat at a table, at the side of the wall. They ordered a large plate of fried rice with salted fish meat.

"Hey Nicky. I got something for you little bro." His sister said. Her fur was was a light orange in color. She was wearing a purple blouse and a blue bermuda pants. "Little? I'm already half a head taller than you." Nicholas said. She just gave chuckle as she unzipped her black sling bag, and pulled out an album.

"Its pictures of us together the whole family. We sure are gonna miss you dude." She said as he flipped through the album. "Well what about me Victoria? You're not gonna miss your own dad?" Nicholas' father said to Victoria. "Ari, you will be coming back in four months." Nicholas' mother said to him.

The family decided that Nicholas' father would come back to Singapore in four months, and Nicholas will continue his studies in Perth.

"So won't miss me for that long, will you Yvonne?"

"Well, I'm gonna get the whole bed, I can watch my own shows more." Yvonne said with a cheeky smile.

"What?!" Ari said, a little surprised.

"Of course I'll miss you dear." She lovingly said as she kissed her husband on the cheek.

Their food soon arrived. The waiter who was an Alsatian placed a plate about 25 cm long, with a hill of fried rice and a large spoon. Nicholas took the large spoon, scooped up some rice to his bowl. The family chowed down three quarters of the fried rice with salted fish meat.

"I don't think I can eat anymore." Victoria said, placing her paw on her tummy. "If you can't finish it, don't force yourself Vickie." Her mother said to her. Nicholas was wearing a grey fleece jacket and a navy blue jeans. He looked at his watch, it was an Omega Seamaster 300m. The dial was blue in color. It was 7.39 pm.

"We should Uh leave now." He said. His mother nodded as she wiped her muzzle with napkin and asked for the bill. She paid the bill with her credit card.

Nicholas grabbed his haversack, Victoria picked up her sling bag and the family left the Royal Jade and head downstairs, to the departure hall. Before Nicholas and his father entered the departure hall, the family gave one more goodbye.

"Goodbye my son, you take care of yourself and your father alright, and focus on your studies ok?" Nicholas' mother gave him a very warm hug.

"I will mom. You and Victoria, keep other safe." He replied.

Victoria walked up to him. "So um, can I have your room please?" She playfully asked.

He smiled and said, "Just don't mess up my books."

"Really? This is so cool! Thanks dude! You're awesome! Enjoy yourself in Perth DUDE!" Victoria squealed in excitement.

Nicholas' parents bid each a farewell. "So you got your passport and Nicholas'?" Yvonne asked Ari.

"Yeah I got them."

"Well, goodbye darling. I will miss you." She gave a small kiss on his muzzle.

"I'm gonna think of you everyday honey." Ari hugged Yvonne affectionately.

"Dad, we have to go now. The flight is at 10." Nicholas said. Ari handed Nicholas passport to him. Just before they entered the departure hall, they looked back and waved at Victoria and Yvonne.

They passed through the security checks, having the customs to check their passports each. They an elevator down to level 1. They sat down at a bench. On the left side was a massive window, outside the window was the airplane they were going to board.

"So this time we are going take the stairs to board the plane?" Nicholas asked his father.

"Yeah, we are. Look." His father replied, pointing at peculiar vehicle pulling a set of stairs to the door of the airplane.

Half an hour later, a chocolate Labrador came to a counter in front of a sliding glass door. She was wearing a blue blouse and skirt. Then, a line was formed in front of her. Nicholas and his father queued up as well. About ten minutes later, their tickets were checked by the labrador. Anthony walked through the door and stared at the airplane.

"C'mon let's go." His father said to him, giving him a pat on the shoulder. They climbed up the metal stairs, with a clanging sound with every step. They entered the plane, furs in suits welcoming all passengers into the plane. Nicholas and his father turned off their phones and took their seats on the left side of the plane.

Ncholas was staring at his watch, and his father noticed. "You can't stop looking at that Omega watch huh?" His father asked him with a smirk.

"Hey I've been saving up for this for a very long time."

"And your dream car kid?"

"I uh, just need $1500 more."

A male voice over the speaker, explaining safety precautions to take during the flight. Flight stewardesses demonstrating the life jacket under the seats and oxygen masks. The plane took off.

"So Aunt Nadia will be meeting us in the arrival hall?" He asked his father.

"Yeah, she knows the house we have bought. She actually bought some furnitures for our new home. Mom said that she will be transferring money to my account every month for us."

"That school that I'm going-"

"Will be the school that Patricia goes to." Ari said to Ncholas.

Patricia is Nicholas' cousin, Aunt Nadia's daughter. She's two years younger than him. A flight stewardess soon came, pushing a cart with drinks. She was a Dalmatian, she was wearing a turquoise blouse and skirt. "What drinks would you like sir?" She asked Ari politely.

"Just a Coke."

"And Sprite for me." Nicholas said.

The Dalmatian took out a can of Coke and a can of Sprite, she handed them to them. Nicholas finished his drink with just a few large gulps. He soon dozed off, still holding on to his can and his head tilted to the side.

Four hours had passed, the plane arrived in Perth. Ari nudged Nicholas on the bicep. "Hey we are here." He said to him.

Nicholas slowly woke up and looked outside the window. Its a sunrise, the plane finally landed in the airport.

"Oh look, getting out by stairs again." he said while looking out the window, looking at a set stairs being linked to the plane.

"Here take your passport." Ari handed Nicholas' passport to him. They left the plane, climbed down the stairs and entered the airport in Perth. They passed the security check and customs. They reached the arrival hall. Standing in front of the conveyor belt, where their baggage was assigned to be.

A few minutes later, their luggages appeared. Nicholas pulled out his luggages out of the conveyer belt and walked out of the arrival hall. He look at the massive clock hanging from the ceiling and synchronized his watch to the new time.

"Ari!" A female voice called out.

Ari turned and saw his older sister. She came up to them. "Hey Nadia. How are you?" He said to her.

"I'm good. Haha it's so great to see you!" Nadia was cheerful. "And Nicky. You've grown so big. Taller than me already." Nadia was wearing a black hooded jacket and a light blue jeans. Her fur was cream, like her younger brother.

"Hello Aunt Nadia." Nicholas said, she gave him a gentle hug.

"C'mon let's go. You all must be very tired." Nadia said.

They stepped out the airport, Nicholas took a deep breath of the cool and dry air unlike Singapore which is very humid and hot. Nadia's car was a Nissan Sunny.

Ari put the luggages in the trunk of the car. He got into the front passenger seat and Nicholas sat at the back. Nadia started the started the engine, and drove off.

Nicholas was so excited, to see his new home, he could not wait to live his new life.
