When the rusty yellow with black stripes bus pulled up to the curb beside the two - actually three furs now -, Michael was considering not getting on at all. In fact, the only reason he goes to school at all was thanks to his dad ironically. If it weren't for the fact that he knows exactly what it's like to be poor or underprivileged he would probably turn down the option to go to school. The only person that knows about his financial situation is Shane and yet he doesn't even know most of the story. SO it's pretty embarrassing when the school asks for money for stuff or tours (which is pretty often) and he can't make the payment. But he doesn't see being poor as a reason for not doing well in school. In fact the German Shepherd was a pretty good student, doesn't fail any test and keeps up to date with all his assignments and what not.

The doors cracked open with a squeak and he followed Shane to the front two seats, where the two sat eveytime.

The school was the same rush of paws and fur everywhere as every Monday morning is. People chatting about how 'eventful' their weekend had been.

The dog padded into his first class expecting a normal day until he heard his name being called out on the intercom, calling him into the principal's office...oh great.

"Good morning, Mr. Dunne." (Pronounced 'Done') The principal, Mr. Crafter, said sticking out his paw. Mr. Crafter was a bear, large and professional. He was a nice guy though and has looked out for Michael in his 4 (out of six) years in the school.

"Moning Sir." He replied.

"Erm, Michael, this is kind of hard to say. I've been trying to get in touch with your father because this is his fault more than yours..."

Oh no...

He continued "...but your school bills haven't been paid at all this year and you still owe for half of last year."

Michael opened his mouth to say something but before he could make a sound Mr. Crafter started again. "And yeah I know it's eh...tougher...for you to fork out the money. But I can't afford to make allowances for students not to keep up with the payments and I know that this school is the only one you can more than likely get into because it's the cheapest. But even though this is a community school doesn't mean it's completely free."

"Ehm, how much do I owe?"

"570 euro."

"And when do I have to have that by?"

"Well as soon as you can, but I can't leave it later than...three weeks. I'm so sorry Michael but there's nothing more I can do, seeing as you are over 16 it is legal for you to leave school."

"This is so unfair! I-I can't leave school! I work a hell of a lot harder at school than most of the students here and you damn know it!"

"Now calm down Mich- "No I won't calm down! This is outrageous! I need an education more than most people here! What the hell am I supposed to do if I can't graduate?"

"There are plenty of opportunities for young men like you out there." He kept his voice calm.

"Like what, prostitution? Work in a supermarket for the rest of my life? I can't get my music scholarship and go to college if I don't finish secondary school!"

"If you work hard you can sit yourself a very suitable job somewhere."

"And furthermore where the fuck am I supposed to get 570 euro from?"

"Hey! I know this is hard but there's no need for the foul language and I won't have it! Not in my office!" He voice finally rose, slightly.

"...fine." Michael sank back into his chair.

"I'm so sorry it's come to this. You should probably get back to class now."

Michael got up and stormed out of the office without saying a word. There was no way in hell Michael could ever pay that money from what his dad makes. The only way for him to stay in school is if he gets his own source of income, but how?

It was lunchtime before Michael got to talk to Shane again, and told him about his new problem.

"Oh shit man that sucks!"

"Yeah, I know right!"

"You know I can loan you the money right?"

"Eh, thanks...but no thanks."

"What? Why the hell not? You know your ebtire life depends on this right?"

"Yeah, and that's the point! If I can't even afford to keep myself going in secondary school how the hell am I supposed to when I'm in college? I mean, It's only going to get harder then? I'll be completely independent!"

"B-But Michael your still only a teenager, you're not supposed to have this much pressure on you, it-it's not healthy for you!"

"Yeah but neither is letting other families pay for my education! I need to start taking responsibility for myself a bit more 'cause it's not like anyone else is going to!"

"O-Okay sorry..." Shane sank back into his chair a bit after being barked at...

"Oh shit, look Shane I'm sorry, you're really nice for offering and all but this is just something I need to do, the sooner the better I get a job."
