Inner Minds
Poem
A flaccid ocean stretches
Outwards from my feet
Being lost in broken imagery
A photograph shattered
A million shards of perforated memories
Mirrored destruction in my heart
Floating atop the water's edges
A silver stream of forced rationality
Reality fading
Within the fogged recesses of my secret mind
The rest purged of any fantasy
Morbid and dull within the walls
Of and empty soul.
Sometimes, this ocean is not so calm
Wicked with chaotic waves
Thrashing with enraged brutality
Inside my sordid thoughts
Sound and sight
Senses withered
Only touch and taste
Surreal and concentrated
Dream sequences play all around me
As if I fail to exist within my own mind
Invisible; an apparition
And in this moment
I am free.
