Lila of the Reptilydes Part 2

The next day another little naga decided to join the world. This one was also a boy, blue eyes and bluish black hair. They decided to name him Kory. He was a quiet little one that only made a sound when he wanted to be fed.

Two days after Ian hatched the identical twins decided to make their presence known; Troy and Trey, hatching from the same egg, which was rare to say the least; two little hellions with green eyes and hair to match. Emma and Dyremus both knew that they would be hard to handle when they got older.

With a little naga being born every day, usually anyway, Emma and Dyremus both thought that they would be waiting until the next day for the next egg to hatch. They were wrong.

Little Dmitri decided to hatch in the middle of the night, right as everybody had just fallen asleep. His little screech woke up everyone in the castle and they all came running to see what the problem was.

Amber eyes and snow white hair, Dmitri was the spitting image of his uncle. Dyremus laughed and cuddled the child close, knowing this one would always have a special place in his heart. Ina had always promised that she would have a little boy that would look just like Dyremus, that way she would have two amber eyed protectors.

Amber eyes were extremely rare for naga's, let alone reptilydes. And paired with snow white hair it was almost impossible. Amber eyes were a sign of a great warrior, and white hair signified great wisdom.

The queen, Dyremus and Emma waited the next day for the last egg to hatch but it wasn't to be. A whole week went by before one of the servants had the audacity to suggest that maybe the egg wouldn't hatch, that it was just a bad egg.

Dyremus almost had the naga locked up for the comment for all the grief it caused his mother. The queen wouldn't come out of her room, wouldn't stop crying. As it was, Dyremus himself was actually thinking the same thing, yet he really didn't want to share his opinion.

Emma refused to give up on the little egg, it was the smallest of the bunch and she had grown fond of it. She had been the smallest egg herself. She wouldn't let anyone take it out to be disposed of. All the servants now avoided the room, as if it contained death himself.

Everyone was asleep for the night when it finally happened. The little egg started to wiggle around, the creature inside it desperate to get out.

It gave Emma the time to shout for the queen and Dyremus, so that they could bear witness to this great miracle.

Tiny cracks had already formed all over the egg by the time Dyremus and his mother arrived and the egg was rolling around frantically. They didn't want to touch it, the little naga needed to build the strength to get out on its own so Emma guarded the fireplace and Dyremus, the door.

After about 30 minutes its little tail broke out a piece of the shell. The group surrounding it sighed in relief and moved closer to offer their presence so the little naga would know they were there. A hand grabbed at a piece of the shell and tore it away, then grabbed another piece and another, repeating the process until enough of the shell was gone so that the little naga could wiggle itself out. Purple eyes blinked up at them, the purple hair covering its head a little longer than its brothers.

He needs a hair cut straight away, Dyremus thought, laughing a little to himself. Dyremus reached down and picked the little naga up, and that was when he noticed that there wasn't a pocket in this one's scales, a sure sign that this was not a boy naga.

Dyremus almost dropped her in surprise. A female! All boys and one little girl, he thought, what a twist of fate.

"This one will have to have a separate room from HER brothers," Dyremus said aloud.

The queen gasped, and then started crying with joy. A granddaughter! Someone to dress up in little outfits and play tea parties with, Tanya thought. She wanted to stay and coddle the little girl but she knew that her heart hadn't been in good condition lately, and the stress of late had taken its toll. She needed to lie back down and rest before she collapsed.

She announced her intentions and then silently made her way back to her room for the night.

Emma looked at Dyremus, who still had the child in a two handed grip under the child's armpits. Then she noticed that the little naga was the same type as she was: an Eoal naga. Emma smiled slightly, knowing this naga and she would have a special bond like no other.

Emma then took the naga from Dyremus and tucked her into a little purple shirt. Then she asked, "What do you wish to name her?"

Dyremus' mind drew a blank. He knew boys names, but not girls. The concept of a little girl hatchling had never entered his mind. "I have no clue, surely you must know some female names, names that might suit her?" he asked Emma.

"Well of course I know girl names for naga's, the thing is, which one suits her best..." Emma trailed off.

"What about Lila?" Emma asked, "Because of her purple coloring, she looks almost like a lilac flower."

Dyremus nodded and said, "Yes I do believe that fits her perfectly. Lila..."
