#1 of Rebirth Pt2

This is actually the second installment of the series. Things are going to change a bit here and I hope that I can get some input on how things will/should change.

REBIRTH

A NEW BEGINNING

Pt. 2 Ch. 1

"Lady Cresselia, I understand that you think that you owe me some kind of debt, but this really isn't necessary." I said for what appeared to be the fifth time, as Lady Cresselia insisted/decided that she'd travel along with us.

'Now who ever said that I was just doing this because of some, silly...little...debt?' She asked with a bit of a giggle in her tone as she clung a little tighter to my back and in doing so wrapping her veil like wings a little tighter around me. I wouldn't have minded her affection that much, was it not for the fact that her affection seemed to have some kind of ill effect on Lady Suicune. Now, I've been an active reader when I was younger and I'd come across situation like this before, so I knew that if even so much as side stepped that all of this would end up in a fight between Lady Cresselia and Lady Suicune.

Almost to prove my point, I slowly turned and look out of the corner of my left eye to see Lady Suicune walking beside me. Though what really disturbed me was the way that she was looking at Lady Cresselia, as if I had to put a name or way she was looking at her it was clear what she was staring daggers at the legendary goddess of good dreams. 'Why not listen to that of Genii, Cresselia. Your presence here is unwanted...and unwelcome. Do you not have to go chasing off to give people good dreams or something?'

Unclenching from a bit, she turned her head to look over at Lady Suicune and by the look that spread across Lady Suicune's muzzle I knew that it must have been a sly smirk she was getting. 'Why, no my dear. My silly little brother is asleep during the daylight hours. And as for going off to chase after him and deal with his ill delivered dreams, I have better things to do at the moment.' With that said she leaned into me a little more and rubbed her cheek into my own. Even though I tried to shy away from her affection this time, I simply sighed in defeat and closed my eyes.

'All that really needs to happen right now, to ignite this fight/fire, is for Lady Cresselia to...' I was interrupted in my thought when Lady Cresselia slightly pulled away from me, only to lean back in and give a slight nibble to that of my ear. 'OH SH**' I didn't get a chance to finish that thought either when a large column of water was fired at me, and for the next several minutes I was chased around the woods with Lady Suicune yelling something to that of Lady Cresselia while Lady Cresselia just clung onto me all the tighter and giggled the whole time.

By the time everything was all said and done, I lay upon my back with my right arm over my eyes, and tried my best to get my breath back. 'Forget training. Nobody has anything against that of a women who's been seriously miffed by someone else.' My whole body was sobbing wet, multiple bruises by Lady Suicune's attacks, and all the while Lady Cresselia had played Spoink Back (Author: Piggy Back). After a good thirty minute...or was it an hour, of Lady Suicune chasing me around, I'd finally called defeat and sank down to my knees. It was also at that time that Lady Suicune had gotten in a lucky shot and knocked Lady Cresselia somewhere into the woods. Now the two of which, to which could still be heard yelling somewhere in the woods, were still yelling and still not seeming to come to some kind of compromise over whatever they were yelling about.

Knowing that it was getting a bit late, I slowly lowered my arm and looked up at the sky. There were only a few clouds in the sky, but those that were, were tinged with a slight pinkish color while their outlines were colored in silver. "It's getting a bit late, and if I want to have anything for dinner, other than a cold can of Pokémon chow, I'd better get a campsite together." I felt my whole body protest to the movement, as I slowly pushed myself up to that of a sitting position, but knowing that if I didn't hurry I'd also be setting up my tent and such in the dark as well. "I'd better get some help in getting camp set up. Come on out Trisha, I need your assistance." I pulled out Trisha's ball, hit the activator button twice, and then threw it into the air to have her released a little in front of me.

'Are you alright Genii? You look like you have been through a few really tough battles.' Trisha said once she'd materialized from the white light upon release from her ball.

"You have no idea." Ever so slowly I shook my head, while hanging it at the same time, only to look up at her again and see that she had a confused look on her face. "Anyways, it's getting late and I need your help in getting this place set up for the night. Can I count on your assistance?" To which I saw her smile and nod at the same time.

It was about five minutes later that Trisha had cleared away a decent spot for the tent and a small impression for a fire pit, using her Razor Wind attack, while I went off and collected the fire wood using my Slash attack to cut down a large tree branch then cut it into smaller logs using my Fury Cutter. All in all it took us fifteen minutes to get everything set up and another five to get a light dinner cooking over an open flame. I guess it must have been the smell of something cooking that finally drew both Lady Suicune and Lady Cresselia out from the woods a little while later. Once the food was thoroughly cooked, I divided each portion equally but when Lady Cresselia made a slight grab for the extra bowl of food, she found that her hands were empty.

"I'm sorry Lady Cresselia, but this portion is already taken." She looked a bit upset at that, and I could've sworn I heard Lady Suicune chuckle at her predicament.

'And who might I ask is it for?' She asked in a bit of an upset tone, to which I ignored and stood.

"For our new friend Umbreon of course. I don't know when or what her last meal was, but I know that she'd appreciate a hot meal right about now." With that said I saw her eye go wide in realization and then hung her head at forgetting about the poor Umbreon. "I'll be back in a minute or two." With that I walked over to the tent and knelt down. Pulling off my last occupied Pokéball; I opened the flap to the tent and release its occupant within. I waited there at the door for a while until there was a sound of something shuffling from within the tent, but once that was done I slowly lifted the flap and placed the food dish inside. 'I hope you're hungry, because I made all this especially for you.' I said as I switched on over from speaking in my normal voice to that of my Pokémon tongue. There came no response from within the tent, but as I stood up and began to walk away a smile slowly spread across my face at the sound of someone noisily munching on some Pokémon chow.

Returning to the fire and placing another log into it to keep the flames up as well as the warmth, I sat back down and warmed up my palms. Not much else was said after that, but I knew that it was really due to some kind of truce between that of Lady Suicune and Lady Cresselia. 'Best to enjoy the quiet while I can.' I thought as I just glanced around the fire and smiled to each Pokémon that was enjoying it with me. Though as the time wound on I could see that Trisha/Lady Suicune/ and Lady Cresselia were growing quite tired, so I offered the option for them to return to their respective ball, but it was only Trisha who agreed to it. It was another hour later that I could see that there was another contest going on and it looked to be who could stay up the longest between the two legendries, to which neither won, when both fell asleep right there upon the spot. Recalling them too, I clipped all three balls onto my belt and began to pass the time with polishing their balls. It was only when I heard a light shuffling sound from the tent that I knew that my plan had worked and someone else was still awake.

Using my psychic powers, I grabbed the zipper to the tent door/flap and opened it up the rest of the way. 'There is a nice warm fire over here, and I could use a bit of company.' I said to no-one specific. Though as I sat there, near the edge of the fire polishing one of the four Pokéballs, I heard the soft/hesitant sound of foot pads closing in on me from behind. It was only when I saw the form slowly skirt around me and at the edge of the fire, did I see it out of the corner of my right eye. 'There you are, I was wondering when you'd come out and say hello.' There came no response as the Umbreon finally ended up standing on all fours on the opposite side of the fire pit. 'Did you enjoy your dinner?' I asked in hoped of at least sparking some kind of response from the shy/timid/fearful night Pokémon.

Though as I awaited a response, any kind of response, none came. It seemed that the Umbreon was either measuring me up or just like to play some kind of staring game. When I thought about that for a bit, I guess I could understand why this was happening. Who knows how long this poor Evee evolution had been mistreated by her previous trainer, and somewhere deep down she didn't know what to make of me. 'I think the best thing to do right now would be to introduce ourselves.' This didn't get any kind of response from her, as she just continued to stare at me. 'My name is Genii and as you can tell, I'm a Gallade. The others that you saw around the fire earlier are, Lady Suicune, Lady Cresselia, and Trisha.'

Still no response to my words but some of the tension that was within her face looked to have eased a bit. 'As you can tell. We are all Pokémon here, and I can assure you that nobody here means you any harm.'

'Why...?'

My eyes went a little wide, as I didn't know if I'd heard right, or for that matter if it was her that was actually speaking. 'Why...why what?'

'Why are you being nice to me? I am...'

'Now, before you finish that sentence, I want you to stop and think. Are those your words or the words of your previous trainer?' When I interrupted her it caused her to raise her head a little higher and look at me with wide eyes. 'That may have been what your trainer though of you, but I can assure you that nobody here believes your anything less than what you are.'

'Wha...what I am?'

A smile slowly spread across my face and even my eyes glistened in mirth in the dancing light of the fires flame. 'You're and Umbreon, unless I'm mistaken.' This got her to blink a few times at me, with what appeared to be some kind of shocked/surprised expression. Though once what I'd said sunk in a bit more, more of the tension eased and what appeared to be some kind of smile spread across her face. 'It might take a while, but I'm sure that you will overcome what has been done to you and heal.'

It was at that, she began to let go and I saw her burry her muzzle in the dirt while covering herself with her forepaws. Not wanting to let cry alone, I slowly rose up walked over to her, sat down next to her, and began to stroke her dark pelt. Though I knew that this was the first step in her recovery, it was by far the last. As the days progressed, I'd spend it with the other members of our group, but when it came to the night, it was always spent with that of the Umbreon. Though progress was slow and all, traveling and helping the Umbreon recover from her mental/physical wounds, things with her were progressing at a nice pace.

It was almost a week later that I finally decided to introduce her to the rest of our group. Stopping off in that of a clearing I released her within and knelt down in front of her. 'I know that you are still a bit hesitant about this, but the others have insisted that they finally meet with you.' I placed a solitary hand on the top of her head and gave it a gentle rub, to which a moment later she looked up at me and gave a slight nod. 'You don't have to worry though. They just want to meet you and welcome you to our little group.' With that said I pulled off the first ball and released it's occupant.

The first to say their hello was that of Trisha. Being a fellow dark type, I hoped that they could relate to being at least similar in type. The two of which just stared at each other for a bit, until Trisha smiled and gave her a nod. 'It will be nice to have another dark type around I can relate to.' To which Umbreon only gave a slight nod but still did her best to try and slink away behind me.

The next to make the stage was that of Lady Suicune. But when she was released she just seemed to have lost her bearings. 'Um...Genii, where is she? Is she off hiding somewhere?' To which I was a bit confused at, but when I felt a pelt press against my back and shiver slightly I couldn't help but smile. With a gentle hand I guided the poor thing around a bit so that at least her head was poking around my side and nodded to Lady Suicune. 'A bit shy now isn't she.' To which I couldn't help but smile/nod to. 'Now aren't you just precious. Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Lady Suicune and the person that you are currently hiding behind is my knight, Genii.' This caused Umbreon to look up at me in confusion for a moment before turning back to make sure she didn't lose sight of the legendary dog type of water. 'He is the one who protects me and is my escort through my travels with him.'

Finally came that of Lady Cresselia. 'A little small for an Umbreon.' Were the first words out of her mouth, but I guess I should have expected as much. She may exude an air of peace and such, but when you get down below that, she was something else entirely.

'Lady Cresselia, please. This is her first time meeting everyone and I do not believe that this is helping her to...' I was cut off a bit at that when I felt something shivering behind me and a scrutinizing glance from Lady Cresselia. It was one of those kinds of looks to say, 'You had best not be telling me on how to act around others' kind of looks.

But when she finally came out it was Trisha who was the first to really cozy on up to her, and somewhere deep down I knew that the two would hit it off splendidly. Though as the two sat next to each other, almost leaning against one another, it was Lady Suicune who spoke up the first words about her. 'It is nice of you to take her in and all, Genii, but I do have to wonder if she is going to be staying with us for a while.'

It was then that Trisha also spoke up. 'That is a good point and if she is going to be staying with us for a while, she should have a proper name.' This went around with a bit of a nod from everyone, except that of Lady Cresselia who seemed a bit indifferent to it and Umbreon who just seemed to stare at me with interest.

'You both have a point there. It wouldn't be proper to keep calling her by what her species is.' I then rubbed at my chin for a bit while looking up at the stars. But after looking up at them for a bit I finally grabbed a name down and smiled over to the Umbreon. 'I do believe that I have it.' To which everyone leaned a little closer toward me, as if wanting to make sure they were either the first to hear it or not miss it. 'I believe that a good name for her would be...Kumori.' This got everyone to turn to another, but eventually all eyes settled on that of the Umbreon and see if she approved of the new name for her.

It was quite a while before she finally raised her head and by the smile upon her face I knew that something pleasant had happened. 'Kumori? I...I like it. I like the name. Thank you Genii.'
