It would seem that before the original mission began, the Admiral had a back-up plan already in play.

Immediately after the surface eruptions, this mission was approved. Yuri and his team was briefed in only a few minutes before they were launched on this high risk mission. A mission that this infamous Admiral thought up of on a whim once the original mission failed.

Since the eruption sent mountains into orbit of the planet, the battles have died down but the occasional blasts from those that still lingered rocked the ship. Sporadic beeps echoed from the cockpit, each alerting the pilot of a new chunk of debris drifting close the ship. The system was cluttered with debris, still making it a very dangerous place to be.

The young wolves waited patiently while the maneuvering of the ship shifted the gravity forces around while they drew closer to an incapacitated Stealth ship. One that one of the scientists on Drach'n Fury believes was in orbit when the infested vessel impacted on the surface of the recently destroyed planet.

"There's activity on the ship," the pilot shouted from the cockpit. Use of the radios was prohibited on this mission unless absolutely necessary. "Be prepared to move in two minutes."

Yuri checked his suit to ensure that it was sealed and pressurized. He was unfamiliar with the suit, but it helped when the suit was custom made for each of the wolves on the team. Gravity continued to pull on the wolves but it slowed until the gravity fields nearly completely disappeared.

"Prepare for the silence," yelled the pilot before he depressurized the ship.

The opening hatch drew the attention of all the wolves. Light reflected off of their armored helmets, while they all turned to gaze out the opening hatch. Out of the hatch, chunks of earth as large as the ship drifted by mixed in with thousands of smaller pieces of debris. When the hatch was fully open, the wolves began to unfasten themselves from their seats.

Alex led the way to the opening and halted while he waited for the rest of his team. Yuri held himself in place in the opening and saw the consequence of the volcanic eruption. The masses of rocks were forming a new asteroid field. Fire and sparks seemed to emit from space itself nearby, but the reflection of the nearby rocks proved that it was the Stealth ship's reflective hull and it's other stealth systems failing.

A piece of the outer hull was ripped opened by an unnatural blast. There was still a battle being waged on the ship. The realization of battle caused Yuri to check for his weapon. With a wave of his paw, Alex signaled for them to move out. First to jump, Alex floated toward the ship and the others quickly followed.

Closer to the ship, it was easier to see the ship when their five armored reflections floated in front of them. The wolves touched down on the hull one by one, using the armor's systems to avoid rebounding. Scaling the hull on all fours, Yuri could feel several rough vibrations and shutters. They surrounded one of the many blast wounds in the outer hull and prepared to drop in the ship.

First to drop in was Alex, distinguishable only by his larger body than the others. Inside, the walls themselves emitted a strange glow but were severely damaged. Gravity was restored once they were inside; allowing Yuri to drop to one knee with his weapon raised and scan the area around him. There was nothing other than the damaged hallway, not even a body.

Without any immediate sign of danger, Alex signaled for the team to begin investigating for some sort of database. Keeping an eye behind them while the team moved along the corridor, Yuri thought it was strange that the walls illuminated their own light, considering the Stealths relied so heavily on avoiding detection. They were also very smooth with no sign of maintenance, ventilation or database access point. The corridors also narrowed around every corner, making the team to adjust their formation.

The corridor shuttered after a bright flash came from around one of the narrowed corners. They halted and waited for anything to come around the corner but nothing did. Orders were relayed to the team using paw signals again, and they continued to slowly move through the narrowed corridor.

With a sharp jump, the team was thrown to the ground. Yuri was dazed but otherwise unharmed. He stood threw the team to the ground. The corridors darkened but the young wolf saw the wall splitting open, showering them with sparks. The ship's structural integrity was failing.

A.J. was already up, assisting his pack members but Alex signaled for them to hasten. The shaking didn't lessen; the entire corridor seemed to be collapsing. Sprinting down the corridor, they finally came across some sort of doorway. Kaitlin searched the seams of the door, and around for some sort of control with her armored paws. She failed to find one.

From her waist, she withdrew a knife that began to vibrate at an extremely fast rate. Shoving the blade into the seam of the door, she began an attempt cut it open. A shard of metal slammed into the doorway, sinking half a dozen centimeters deep. Kaitlin jumped back.

Yuri snapped up his rifle and turned around. Behind them, hidden in the light was a Stealth hardly visible. The creature clutching, assumingly, his neck was obviously severely wounded since a black liquid ran over its stealth armor.

It pulled out another weapon of some type but before it had a chance to move, Yuri fired several rounds into the creature. He wasn't the only one to have fired as the creature fell back to dozens of projectiles piercing its armor. It fell back to the ground, most of its body still masked by its stealth technology. Yuri glanced over to Alex and was nodded in return.

Cautiously, Yuri approached the creature, keeping his eyes out for any others. The creature was still struggling on the ground, halting Yuri from advancing and putting the creature behind his back. He kneeled down next to it, more black blood spilling over the empty air its armor created. An eye gazed at Yuri, revealed through the lack of armor.

Before the light disappeared from the eye, Yuri heard a hiss, which drew his attention back to the rest of his team. Kaitlin was forcing the doorway open and air was rushing out of the corridor beyond. Alex waved Yuri back while the other wolves forced their way through the door. Following, they did their best to seal the door behind them.

"We need to hurry up," said Alex, now that there was atmospheric pressure. The distant groaning and metallic snaps of the ship's hull provided the motivation for them to hasten. Along with the failing ship, the sounds of struggles were heard with some sort of whines of weapons discharging and explosives going off.

"The sounds are still coming from ahead," Mary observed, while they hustled down the corridor. "If they are still defending anything, it'd most likely be the command center. It won't be easy to get in there."

One by one they went around a narrow corner, Yuri was last still covering their tails but the danger was directly ahead of them now. Ghostly images with green vines coming from them were being assaulted by other invisible Stealths but not without being injured themselves. Before the wolves could react, Yuri witnessed a small device being placed on one of the infested Stealth which made it explode and evaporate almost instantly.

"Put them all down," ordered Alex, firing a short burst into the nearest infested creature. Despite the advanced weaponry of the Stealths, they were being overwhelmed by the infected.

Spreading out, the wolves shot anything that moved while they continued searching for some sort of database access point. They expertly covered each other's flanks and didn't overlook any potential threat.

They finally came across a larger room, after removing a stiffer resistance, which had unusual gadgets placed along the walls behind some strangely shaped seats.

"One of these must have access to the database," commented Kaitlin, wandering over to the largest console in the middle of the room. The device was embedded in the floor but looked like it'd open up if used properly.

"Secure the room," Alex ordered while Kaitlin fiddled with the device.

The other four established a perimeter, Yuri being placed on guarding the entrance that they fought their way through. For a moment, he was able to listen to the ship screaming in protest to the severe abuse it has received. Other than the distant sounds echoing, and Kaitlin's fumbling with the console, it was silent.

The minutes ticked by with only a few alarming rumbles through the ship but so far nothing threatened the room that they were in.

Impatient, Alex demanded an update on Kaitlin's progress.

"I know that there's data stored in here because it's not connected to anything else," she replied. "There's just no access point for me. No data crystal, circuit boa-"

With a loud crash, all five wolves were thrown toward the front of the room. They each crashed heavily into the wall, dazing Yuri and nearly causing him to black out. The ship groaned tremendously, and fractures spread everywhere throughout the command center.

Slow to pick himself up, he saw the room losing atmosphere quickly through many of the fractures.

"Asteroid impact," shouted Mary, recovering from the hard throw herself. "We need to get out of here before we're hit again."

"Kaitlin, cut that damn box out of the floor," Alex yelled. "A.J. and Mary, find us a way out. Yuri, keep your eyes on that door." His voice started to fade, not because their helmets muffled their voice but because they were losing atmosphere. The gravity started to fade as well.

Silence began to fill the room once again, in contrast to the constant violent shifting of the ship. Nothing was outside the door but the hallways began to darken with the ship's corridors being ripped from the structure.

"Incoming ship," Mary yelled over the radio, despite the strict radio silence order. "It's going to destroy this ship. Come on!"

Without hesitation, Yuri backed away from the door and jumped toward Mary who was looking out a great gash in the ship's hull that was slowly spreading open. It was soon large enough for the small wolves to fit through.

A.J. was on the other side already, and lend down a paw for Yuri. He grabbed on and was pulled out of the ship, somewhat surprised by the thinness of the hull. Exposed to the elements outside the ship, Yuri saw that they in fact crashed into an asteroid rather than the other way around. The asteroid was clearly once part of the planet's surface before the eruption.

Soon enough the others came through the fractured hull. Mary pointed to a speck in the distance that from it launched balls of light that burned the floating chunks of the planet.

Kaitlin secured the device that she cut from the floor of the command center but they didn't even have time to send a signal to be picked up.

"Jump!" Mary yelled, pushing off of the ship. The other wolves copied her and floated away from the ship just as a ball of light impacted on the ship. It burst into flames like the ship was made of dry wood. The flames quickly consumed the ship, and the intense heat could be felt even through Yuri's armor.

The realization that they were most likely seen leaving the ship kept Yuri's eyes glued on the vessel that was burning everything. It was obviously trying to contain the infestation, and it wouldn't let them go so easily unless it wanted to.

The ship ignored the five wolves though; bringing Yuri to the realization of the other danger. They were floating almost completely helpless in a recently formed asteroid field. He cautiously looked where he was floating and used the limited thrusters in his armor to stay with his pack and avoid any obstacles on the way.

Eventually the wolves were able to land on an asteroid, rather roughly however, where they waited for the dropship to come pick them up. Despite the extremely hazardous conditions, the evacuation from the mission was rather less eventful than the rest of the mission.

"Welcome back pups," greeted the pilot, once the compartment was pressurized. "I hope your mission was a success. I can't wait to get back to the fleet and get some rest. Flying among these asteroids is one hell of a risk."

Ignoring the pilot, Alex stood up once they were clear of the asteroid field. He removed his helmet. "Thanks pack. You all did a great job. I hope I didn't damage the data core in that thing, did I Kaitlin?"

"I don't think so," answered Kaitlin, inspecting the console she held in her paws. "We'll find out once I inspect it further when we're back on the carrier."

Alex smiled and turned to Mary, and uncharacteristically leaned down to hug her. "I don't know how you were able to spot that ship when it was so far but you saved all of us."

She took off her helmet and smiled. "I have to be of some use to this pack. Besides, it wasn't hard to see it burning everything in its path."

"No one is injured, right?" Alex asked, looking around at his four pack mates. Yuri shook his head, despite the soreness he felt from being thrown into a wall. The others also responded with the same answer. "Good. We've been in tougher situations than this but I'm still glad that we all got out okay. Unlike our training, we'll actually have a chance to rest once we're back."

"I'd rephrase that pup," said the pilot from the cockpit. He paused and spoke to someone through a radio before continuing. "The fleet is on high alert. They've been boarded and the Admiral has been hit. Don't expect a rest once we board. We'll be there in in ten minutes."

"What's the status on the boarding parties?" Alex demanded, turning toward the cockpit.

"Unknown," answered the pilot. The radio continued to spew out confusing reports. "It's Stealths making it impossible to tell how many are on the ships but from what I hear the Admiral was targeted by them. The ships are being searched right now but there have been no more casualties, at least that's what I heard so far."

"What of the Admiral?"

"Mixed reports on that front. There have been reports that he was killed by the attack, and others say that he's critically wounded. Either way, he's out of the picture right now."

"Has the assassin been dealt with yet?"

"No. The AI, Fury, insists that he's still on board though."

"Yuri," Alex barked, turning back toward his pack. "You've studied the videos of the other crew's encounters with the Stealths so you have lead on this. Pilot, bring us to Drach'n Fury. We're going hunting for this assassin."
