#1 of Evolution Story

Well hello all of the watchers I have accumulated over the past years o3o. I have returned once more but I bring with me a brand new story, one with an all new cast of chracters and oddly twisted plot.

Hope you all like it because it's to die for...hehe.

"RUN!"

The sounds of heavy breathing and paws stampeding the ground could be heard throughout the forest. Two figures could be seen running through the brush, dodging every obstacle in their path; their voices echoing through the trees as they called out to one another. One was a toned male wolf, his fur being silver tones with black stripes; the other was a smaller female. Her coat, brown and tan colored; was resembling a shepherd breed.

"Kyros, I...I can't keep up...!"

"What's wrong?!"

"He's too much to carry along with me!"

"Fine, let's duck into the den over there and take a rest."

Both the figures veered to their right and ran towards an opening under one of the grand oak trees in the forest. As they entered the underside of the tree, they noticed a peculiar light emitting from a hole further inside.

"What is it Kyros?"

"I don't know but I think it'd be best if we figure out any potential danger down here with us."

The other figure nodded and they both proceeded to walk towards the light, its glow growing brighter with each step until they reached the edge.

"Do you think it's safe to go in there?"

"I'm not sure, but we will never figure out what is down there if we stand here."

The male figure slowly took a step forward, then another, continuing slowly as he entered the strange hole. The female lowered her ears and hesitantly followed after him, mimicking his cautious advances. They both slowly descended further and further, watching the glow ahead of them grow brighter until it was blinding.

"What on earth is causing this blinding light...?"

The male shook his head, "I don't know but whatever it is doesn't seem danger-AAAHH!"

The ground beneath Kyros crumbled and he fell down into a white room full of machinery. The female slowly walked over to the hole and peered down into it.

"Kryos, are you alright?!"

"Yeah...but I think my leg might be broken from this fall!"

"Hold on, I'm coming down too!"

She circled the hole for a moment and saw a container that she could safely jump to. In one swift motion she leapt into the hole and fell onto the container, creating a loud thump.

"Ow, that hurt a bit more than I thought it would..."

"Are you alright?"

"Yes, I didn't hurt anything too bad, maybe just a bruise."

"How about him, is he still ok?"

The female turned her head and nuzzled against a small basket hanging from her side. She nosed open the lid just enough to see inside then smiled.

"Yes, he's fine; sleeping like the adorable baby he is."

Kyros breathed a sigh of relief and smiled, "Thank you, I wouldn't know what to do if our son got hurt."

She nodded along with him, then hopped off the container and walked over to him.

"He takes after you Kyros, strong willed and tough like his father."

"Speak for yourself, you aren't the one lying her with a damaged leg." He glanced at her as she slowly examined his leg.

"Hmm, you will have to keep off of it for awhile, but thankfully, I think we are safe here for now."

They both started looking around, slowly examining the room they were in. Neither of them could figure out what this place was that they had stumbled into.

"I am going to explore around a bit and see if there are any ways out of here."

He nods, "Alright, be cautious."

"I will, but I am leaving him here with you just in case." She walks over and kneels down, sliding the basket gently off her body, next to Kyros.

He curls his tail around the basket then smiles up at her. "You be safe Nara, I can't afford to lose you either."

She chuckles a little bit before turning her back to him, "You and him give me all the strength I need to overcome anything."

"You were always an inspiration to everyone around you my dear; alright go and be safe."

She nods and runs off down a hall opposite of them, disappearing from view. Meanwhile, Kyros continued to study his surroundings, taking in every detail and trying to piece together the puzzling place.

"This place...it's so strange, even the air feels different..."

He continued to ponder his thoughts until a noise was heard. His ears perked and he quickly shuffled across the floor, pulling the basket with him as he hid behind a large piece of machinery. As the noise grew louder he slowly peeked his head around for any signs of movement. Right away he saw two figures standing in the doorway, communicating with one another about something. Kyros ducked his head and perked his ear to try and listen to them.

"I'm telling you this experiment is a total bust; none of the test subjects survived so far and I highly doubt we will find any that will."

"Hmm...you are probably right but you know if the chief hears you speaking like that, he'll put you in the chamber next."

An eerie pause was left between the two at that moment. The silence, it was unnerving, even for Kyros whom was always patient. He began to feel paranoid like he had made a noise, revealing himself by accident. He remained still, waiting for the inevitable attack by the two figures, but it never came. He breathed a sigh of relief as he started to hear their voices again.

"The chief...what is his reasoning for the experiment?"

The other figure shrugged and shook his head, "I don't know, he said it was confidential and that our only concern is to make sure it works."

"I'm beginning to think that this is all just some scheme to get mon-"

Suddenly a red light begins to flash, along with a loud noise resembling a siren. Soon after a voice could be heard that sounded like it was coming from everywhere at once.

"All personnel alert! We have a subject on the loose in Sector Z in the west wing! Be on the lookout for a female canine resembling a shepherd breed! That is all!"

Kyros' eyes widened as he gasped, "Nara!"

The two figures by the door turned to see a giant silver wolf race towards them, growling and barring his teeth.

"Woah! That's a big dog!" The smaller guy said as he froze in fear.

The second one shook his head and started fumbling with a pocket on his belt.

"Holy hell that's not a dog; it's one of those silver wolves native to the forest here..."

"Well quick do something! I don't have my utility belt on me!"

The person continued to scramble, trying to open his pocket as Kyros continued to sprint across the room. As he neared the two begin to panic, screaming in fear as they saw the piercing look in the wolf's eyes.

"Dude! What the hell are you doing; shoot it!"

"I'm trying, but the damn thing is stuck in its holster; it won't budge!"

The second guy reached up towards the other as Kyros leapt towards the one standing. With a quick succession, he pulled out a small gun and fired it at the wolf, striking him in the shoulder with three darts. Kyros, fell through the air and landed on the floor, sliding to a halt in the hallway behind the two.

"Wow man...nice shot."

The smaller figure rose to his feet and handed the other the weapon, "My father was a marksman, I learned from him."

The two approached Kyros' unconscious body and stared at him. The taller one approached him and prodded his body a few times to make sure the job was done.

"Well, I think that takes care of this one, he ain't moving at all."

"Uh oh, did I kill him?"

He knelt down beside the wolf and placed his hand on his chest, feeling the lungs slowly expend and contract. He stood up and shook his head, reaching for a small radio on his belt as he walked back over to the other.

"No, he's alive and breathing, but I don't want to be around when he wakes up because he's going to be furious. For now let's radio Jacob and tell him we have another animal to use as a subject."

The other guys nods and takes the radio, "Jacob, Jacob do you copy?"

A pause was heard before a static voice was heard. "Yes, loud and clear; what's the situation?"

"Gary and I are in the North wing, in Sector D."

The voice echoed out of the radio again. "Did you two find the shepherd?"

"No, but I think we found a possible mate; a large silver wolf, male too."

"Oh damn, are you serious?! I'll be right over." The voice turned to static.

The two stood still, staring back and forth between each other and Kyros' body. Time passed by as they waited for Jacob to show up to get them and the body. A few moments later, they noticed a small vehicle with a trailer with cages on it approaching.

"Ah there he is, we'll definitely need his help moving this big guy."

The other nodded as he watched Jacob turned the vehicle around and backed the cages towards Kyros.

Jacob hopped off of his vehicle and ran to the other to before skidding to a stop.

"Oh my god...he's huge!" He turned and looked at the other two with a stunned expression. "How in the hell did you two take him down without being torn to shreds?"

The taller of the two pointed at his accomplice, "It was Gary, he pulled my gun right out of the holster and fired off three shots right into the beast."

Jacob peered down at Gary with his brow quirked. "Dayum man, heck of a shot you pulled off."

Gary looked away and scratched the back of his head. "Hey, I was just trying to protect Eric and myself...just instinct is all."

Well either way, you saved my life man because if you hadn't done that when you did, I'd be getting torn to shreds by now."

"Well enough chit chat, I want to get this big guy in the cage and to the holding containers before he wakes up."

The three of them lifted the unconscious wolf and set him in the cage gently. After locking it up tight and securing it, they began to shuffle into the vehicle until a small noise was heard.

"Hey, you guys hear something?"

Jacob and Gary turned to look at each other and shook their heads as they turned their attention to Eric. He shrugged it off and started to fasten his seatbelt when he heard the noise again.

"There it is again..."

"Eric, I'm sure you are just imaging things." Gary assured him.

"Perhaps you're right, I mean what else could-" He stopped as the sound was heard again but louder, "Ok I know you two heard it that time."

They both nodded. "What is it?"

"Sounds like...whimpering" Jacob tilted his head in an attempt to hear better.

All three jumped out of the vehicle and slowly started walking around the room, listening for the faint sound.

"Wait..." Eric raised his hand to signal the other two to stop. "I think...it's coming from behind the console over there." He pointed over towards a large machine.

"Hmm, sounds like it; go check Eric." Jacob ushered him.

"Why me man? You're supposed to be the expert with the animals."

"Because I can't handle these things in close quarters, you were always the brawler now go."

Eric swallowed audibly and slowly moved closer to the machine. His hands were shaking with each step closer to the noise. He turned to look at the others but they merely shook their heads at him. Once he got to the machine, he inched his way around the side cautiously. Slowly he turned his head around the corner and peered down onto the floor. To his surprise it was a small basket, but it seemed to be moving. He turned his head back towards the other two and beckoned them over.

"Come here, it's just a basket on the floor."

The other two quickly shuffled over and looked behind the console at the small basket.

"That's strange, what is this doing here?"

"I wonder if that wolf was carrying it."

"Now why would a feral wolf be carrying a bask-"

The whimpering noise was heard again and the basket began to shake slightly. The three of them stared, inquisitively at it until Eric knelt down next to it. He reached around and pulled a nightstick from his belt, then gently used it to lift the lid on the basket. Inside he saw something he couldn't take his eyes off of.

Jacob nudges Eric with his foot, "Well dude, what's in there?"

Eric turned his head back at them and smiled, "Looks like we got another subject."
