#44 of Hockey Hunk Season 2

Rory wants to cuddle, but Cobb has other plans. Can Rory resist the temptation of handsome Dobies, or will he succumb? Oh yes...

Hehhey!

Welcome to the penultimate chapter of season 2 of "I'm Still With the Hockey Hunk" , my epic slice of life furry soap opera narrative about the life of Rory, a lion with a taste for hot butts and DRAMA!

It's been a great time so far, and even though this season must end with the super-exciting season finale, no need to worry - planning for season 3 is already underway and well in the making.

Comments will be greatly appreciated as always, so no need to hesitate! Also remember that all votes, faves and watches will help others to find these stories to enjoy as well.

Have a very fun read y'all!

Edit: If any early birds noticed that the story was edited weirdly, that was due to Cobb's super long laughter in the beginning. Took me a moment to realize that. *chuckle* Sorry about that :)

"MUHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHHARHINOOHMYGODHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAAHEJUSTHAHHAAHAHE

HEHJUJUSTHAHAHAASHAHAHTHERHINOSASSOHHHGAWDALMIGHTYOOOOOOHHAHHAHHAHAHAHAHAOH

GAWDAHHAHAHAHHRHINOOOOOOOJEEEESSUUUUSHAHAHAHA!"

My pretty round ears licked my skull, trying to block out the wall-trembling noise that filled them like an approaching truck. My paw clutched firmly around the glass filled with a polite amount of mineral water I had been served earlier by Cobb. My tail tuft stilled itself upon its gentle place where it had been resting for now, over Victor's footpaws on the floor. The racket went on and I quietly and seriously wondered whether Cobb might actually soon run out of air in his lungs and faint right where he was sitting due to his continuous and almost choking laughter.

"HAHAHAHAHAHHAHHHHOOHHHHGAAAWD!" his heavy paws batted the armrests of the poor design chair he occupied, almost violently, in between ludicrous pointing at the TV screen and writing around in his chair. At least his beer can was on the floor, safe from being spilled everywhere by his erratic movements.

Victor's broad, grimacing profile filled my eyes when I turned my head a little to catch a good look at the Dobie sitting next to me on the couch. He appeared as a dark shape, illuminated only by the glow of the TV. I gently patted his arm with my paw to get his attention and smiled a little, hopefully. I added a small squeeze over his arm, and he finally turned his head a little, to see my smile, still lingering softly on my lips. I hoped it could give him the strength to survive through the rest of the movie. His eyes, peering at me through his glasses, were dark and handsome and only intensified my wish to crawl over and act like the lap cat.

Yes, a few chaste inches remained between our bodies, but that was not due to me not wanting to cuddle with him. This couch and Victor's broad chest were simply made for that sort of an activity, don't get me wrong, I was feeling pretty hot in one pants leg for all it was worth, but under the circumstances, even with Cobb's rapt attention fixed on the movie, I did not want to risk to give the brother Dobie any extra ammunition that he could use in trying to embarrass Victor. The Dobie had, after all, already downed two beers during the movie, and been to the bathroom three times.

"HAHAHAAHAHAAHBAHAHAAHLOOKITSGIVINGBIRTH!"

Victor snuffled to me and returned to watching the movie, deciding, obviously, that the best course of action would be not to react too much to Cobb's fit, which was not the first he had had over the course of movie, but this was the biggest so far. He was still laughing, well over, maybe, let's say a minute after the ultimate punch line was over and Jim Carrey had indeed crawled out of the rhino's ass.

Hmm, well, sans Cobb, maybe it technically could have been an ok movie to cuddle to, considering that Victor was laughing pretty often as well, and I was sure, sure enough that my cheeks remained flushed, that it would feel really nice to rest my head on his chest and listen and feel him laugh, deeply and almost barking, like he did. I'd never been too big for the chick flicks anyway, and had not met any guys who enjoyed watching them greatly. Graham had only really been into French New Wave movies, anyway...and he had to concentrate during the movies to catch everything that was said in French because he wasn't completely fluent, the hanky-panky always had to come later...his lips moving along to the dialog...

Oh, God.

Cobb left out the last barking burst of laughter and finally fell silent for most part, only a small rumble and a possible tinnitus in my ears remained. I frowned mildly, but it was not for the Cobb's outrageous behavior, it was for letting myself go down THAT road, of recalling past...things. This was not the time to do comparisons, that was a pathetic effort that would lead me to no good, and that Victor did not deserve to be compared to that man to begin with. It was a thing of the past, Victor was a thing of the now, and I liked now. I liked it a lot, in fact...hell, I even liked Cobb, in a way, even if he had made sure to make this the least romantic movie night imaginable by choosing Ace Ventura 2 as the film to watch.

"WE LOVED THIS WHEN WE WERE CUBS, COME ON, VICTOR, RORY'S GONNA LOVE IT!"

Not even Rory-Cobb could have put it better than the real deal.

At least it was keeping Cobb happy and distracted, and I had to say that while Cobb was watching the movie, he had much less energy left to point out any so-called gay behavior in my or Victor's part, and that was just fine for me. After being asked by Cobb whether I liked checking out random dudes on my customer service work and inquiring if I by any chance practiced flower arranging, I could very well do without his remarks. I was more worried about Victor, anyway, because he always seemed to react strongly to these little...hmm...slips that Cobb perhaps couldn't help speaking out, or maybe it was just a very sneaky tactic of psychological warfare in the ongoing Victor-Cobb conflict situation. As long as they weren't fighting, I was alright, though. I'd heard worse.

"BWHAHAHHAHHAHAHAHAH!"

"Geezz," Victor snorted. "You're waking up the house!"

The brother Dobie flicked a tall, amused ear at his brother and folded his paws behind his neck, leaning back on his design chair and grinning broadly.

"It's only ten PM, it's not like anyone's sleeping at this time yet on a Friday night," the Dobie mused, "they should be up, watching TV, drinking, reading fairytales to their cubs, catching up on news, talking on the phone to old friends who live time zones down so that it's a perfect time to call, having passionate sex..."

I was kinda proud of Victor that he only groaned moderately and bit back his response - literally, I could see how the tendons in his neck worked with his chewing action that was hidden behind his tightly pursed lips. His ears were at half-mast, though, and my own cheeks (and let's be honest, my pants, too) were feeling the effects of the slippery remark coming from the big Dobie in his comfy chair. My eyes, covert in the darkness of the room, glimpsed at the juncture of Victor's beefy thighs and wondered what was hidden under the fabric of his pants...whether he was enjoying my presence as much as I was enjoying his.

If only for the Cobb...

*groan*

"BWAHAHAHAHAMUAHAHAHAHAHA!"

Victor huffed, while my ears flicked incredulously. An evil remark rose to my lips, and before I could hold it back, it was already taking control of my faculties and coming out of me, no holds barred.

"You should apply for a job as a laughter track artist, Cobb," I smirked.

Cobb thrummed the armrest of the chair with his big fingers and grinned widely in reply.

"Hehheheheheheheh, then I would be like that guy who does the voice on all the movie trailers!" the big Dobie grinned. "That'd be so awesome!"

Victor chuckled.

"What next? Voice of a satnav?"

Cobb practically jumped out of his seat with the force of his excitement brought on by Victor's cheeky remark. The Dobie's eyes were alit and his paws slammed down on the armrests, and for a small moment I wondered whether he would propel himself up in the air and into collision course with the TV set on the wall. That might need some explaining to do to the paramedics, I thought.

"Ohhh yes, hell yeah!" Cobb grinned, even forgetting the movie for the moment as he pondered the possibility of Victor's suggestion. "Can you just imagine how cool would that be? Hmm..."

I was afraid that I could.

"AF-TER DRI-VING ONE THOU-SAND MILES TURN RIGHT! AF-TER DRI-VING TWO HUND-RED YARDS TURN LEFT! YOU ARE AT YOUR DESTI-NA-TION! PLEASE SE-LECT NEW WAY POINT. WAY POINT VIC-TOR'S APART-MENT SET. DRI-VE TWO MIL-LION MILES AND TURN LEFT. YOU ARE THERE!" Cobb assumed a flat, robotic tone of voice for his tirade that was followed by him bursting into a gut-busting laughter, while Victor and I could only sit where we were and stare at him in disbelief.

"HAHAHAHAHAHAAHAAHAHHA!"

Cobb continued his private little game until he was out of breath and got out of the chair, stretching himself up to his considerable height. He then proceeded towards the kitchen, scratching his ass while he walked.

"Dunno about you guys but I need a beer!" the Dobie declared on his way.

Victor rumbled.

"Sure you didn't have enough yet?" he questioned, following the Cobb with his eyes and the flicks of his ears.

Cobb opened the fridge and pulled out a beer which he immediately proceeded to open with the associated ear-flattening hiss.

"Sluuuuuuuurp" went the beer when the Cobb seemed to pour half of it into his muzzle in one go and then swallowed and did a little "ahhhh!" as well.

Followed by more scratching of course, this time over his belly.

"You guys sure you don't want me to mix a couple of cosmos for you?" he lingered by the end of the couch, looking down to us sitting there ever so respectfully, heads upright, and paws on our laps, to prevent any sort of a suggestion of any hanky-panky going on.

Victor shook his head and snorted.

"We don't want to get drunk, unlike you," Victor snuffled.

I shook my head softly and waved my glass up to my muzzle level.

"This water is quite fine, thank you, Cobb," I added.

Cobb shrugged and strutted back to the armchair and collapsed onto the leather with a rude sound coming from the impact of his sizeable rear onto the straining seat. I wondered how he managed to do that without sloshing the beer all over himself or the floor, but anyway...this was Cobb we were talking about.

"I thought your life was all about booze, sex and matching nail polish," Cobb grinned, watching the guilty pair that was me and Victor sitting on the couch and at the perfect vantage point for Cobb's leering eyes.

Victor didn't even bother to growl.

"Yeah, maybe you're right," he slung a paw over the backrest of the couch, sadly not on the side where I sat, for that would have been such a nice opportunity to cuddle, but maybe it was for the best. At least he looked hot. "Maybe it would be better to be drunk...I mean, the movie might be funnier if I was drunk out of my senses."

Victor waved his spare paw lazily in the direction of the TV screen, causing curious ear flicks from Cobb and a rumbling laughter from the brother Dobie, although relatively brief in duration, this time.

"Awww," Cobb pouted, eyeing us in that typical way of his that meant he was up to no good, "you shouldn't be such a bore, Victor, I mean, Rory here might start thinking that you're a bore. Relaaaaaaax, bro!"

Victor snuffled.

"You what, sixteen years old, Cobb, talking like that?"

I chuckled a little and admired Victor's not at all boring form, and decided that I wouldn't mind if Victor was a bit boring at times, which he wasn't of course.

The Cobb smirked and shrugged.

"Just trying to make sure you're not losing your chances too soon, brother," Cobb winked.

Victor rumbled resonantly and gave me a quick look before staring down the seated brother Dobie who seemed to be intent on sabotaging Victor's chances rather than improving them, if judged by the level of insanity anyone meeting the Cobb had to endure for the sake of also spending some time with Victor.

"Thought we had agreed on not giving each other any romantic advice, Cobb," Victor snuffled.

The Cobb saluted us with his beer can and grinned.

"Oh but you know how useful an outside opinion might be, you know...from a...objective viewpoint," Cobb mused. "Like from your handsome and in the know twin brother."

Victor snorted.

"I still won't listen to any advice from you nor should you bully Rory with your opinions either," he retorted.

I opened my muzzle to say that it was fine, but Cobb was faster than I was, as always, it seemed.

"I'm not bullying your buddy, I never would do something like that!" Cobb declared with serious eyes and a broad rumble. "That ain't fun."

Victor flicked his ears sharply

"So why can't we just watch the movie and then maybe hit the sack?" he proposed. "You've got a long trip on the train tomorrow, might as well get some proper rest. I know you can't really sleep in anything that moves."

The Cobb stomped the floor with his footpaws and yawned, his beer precariously hold in one of his paws as he did so.

"And miss the opportunity to spend some extra time with my brother and Rory?" the Dobie looked at the two of us meaningfully, and with a curious quirk to his brow. "No way!"

Victor snuffled.

"Well you remember the state you were in when you came over," he noted. "Bouncing off the walls."

The Cobb's ears flattened.

"But that's coffee and I won't be drinking any coffee tomorrow..."

"Good," Victor harrumphed roughly.

"You silly mutt," Cobb smirked.

Victor snorted.

"Don't you mind ol' Victor, Rory," the Dobie in the armchair smiled eagerly. "Behind that rough and arguably hunky exterior, there's a sensitive, intelligent man who loves those close to him but has a hard time saying it aloud."

Victor chuckled.

"Says Dr. Cobb, "the Dobie shook his head.

The Cobb waved his foamy beer in front of him and nodded rapidly.

"Well hear, hear!" the Cobb enthused. "Finally he's agreeing with me for once."

"I didn't say that," Victor shrugged. "I just said -"

Cobb waved his paw.

"You said that I'm as smart as Dr. Phil!"

"I did not!"

I felt very small.

Well, eventually, the movie did end, and even as the credits rolled, Cobb got up to footpaws that were showing a hint of unsteadiness after four beers, and stretched out while rumbling deeply. He shook his head briefly and yawned and smacked his lips together before he turned around to face us, half-dozing on the couch despite the constant clatter of laughter from the big Dobie now giving us the eye. I confess that my paw was resting on Victor's arm, lightly, perhaps, but there it was.

"Think it's time I left you lovebirds on your peace and go to bed," the Dobie grinned, briefly, before he headed for the TV set to turn off the DVD player. It became almost dark in the room now that the screen had faded away.

I squeezed Victor's arm and purred very softly.

"You heard your brother, Victor."

Victor huffed softly and made a semblance of movement, the lump of Dobie on the couch starting to show signs of life since being very still after his last bathroom visit. I tapped his ankles with my tail for extra emphasis and got another sound of him, a soft, sleepy grunt that made me want to purr even more.

"Come on, even Rory thinks so!" Cobb's voice rumbled from somewhere behind me, and suddenly a bright light flashed into existence, filling my senses.

"Oh Jesus!" Victor groaned, slapping a paw over his eyes despite his glasses as our dark-accustomed eyes became assaulted by the sudden presence of the bright lamps in the ceiling.

"Sorry, bro," I saw Cobb operate a panel on the wall by the doorway, and the lights dimmed down into a more tolerable level.

"Never mind," Victor said as he got up from the couch.

It was simply perfect, too, to present his ever so nice back - and most of all, his gorgeous rump - for me to observe from close range for a few seconds more. My sheath felt warm and nice for the sighting, and my earlier immobility quickly waned away as I got up to my paws as well and stretched a little, luxuriating just the way only a cat could, I thought with a private smirk of mine while ogling Victor a little, if just a little covertly.

"Wow, that food and beer is really starting to get to me," Cobb grinned, scratching his belly slowly while leaning on the doorway that led into the small hall, his eyes playing hopscotch between me and Victor, of course. "I'll go to bed now...don't you two guys think you have to get to sleep yet, though, heh!"

Victor snuffled.

"Goodnight, Cobb," he said.

"Goodnight," I added, with a hopefully polite smile.

The Cobb licked his lips and grinned.

"Goodnight, Victor, goodnight Rory!"

He turned again and took the step needed to reach the door into his room, which he then opened and was halfway into a disappearing act into the darkness within, before his head suddenly poked out and he leaned back, turning to look at us.

"And play it nicely, dudes, don't cause me any traumas," the Dobie grinned before rapidly dissolving into the darkness of his room and closing the door behind with a final-sounding click.

It was just Victor and me now, looking at each other across the few steps that separated us in the room. Victor shook his head and I could see the tension rolling through his body, but I hoped that at least some of it escaped in the long, deep breath he released while I watched, and smild at him.

"Wow," I shook my head quickly in almost a jerking motion, not knowing how else I could express my disbelief in the spectacle that was simply the Cobb.

Victor scratched his back and snuffled.

"I'm sorry."

Me, with my tail flicking slowly behind me, stepped close to him and put my paw on his arm again, to give it another of my nice little squeezes. I stepped into his personal space, smelling him, smiling for the fact. I felt the smoothness of the silk on the sleeve of his shirt, and the warmth and the shape of his arm underneath.

"Don't be," I rumbled, quietly to make sure that Cobb could not hear. "I'm not."

Victor's free paw opened the door into his bedroom.

My free paw turned off the lights.
