Jordan sat down on his bed. He stripped off his clothes and tossed them into a corner. Looking around his room, he sighed. He had his bed up against two walls, a bedside table beside it, a desk beside that, and a bookshelf by the foot of his bed.

On the desk, there was what could only be described as a mess. But in the center of the mess, five figures stood silent sentinel in a ring of cleanliness. There was a light blue Shoryu, a dark blue and yellow snake, a dark green and light tan crocodile, a brown horse, and a red winged, brown scaled dragon. Jordan looked over at what he called his Five Guardians. They were what he thought of as the incarnations of his humanity.

The Shoryu, Gwen, made sure he had Knowledge. The snake, Ulysses, kept his Speed. The croc, Adam, helped his Strength. The horse, Richard, delivered Endurance. And the dragon, Dorothy, gave him long Life.

He always said goodnight to each of them, but tonight he didn't. That day, he had forgotten the correct answers on a test, lost a race to the slowest guy in class, couldn't defend himself during a cafeteria fight, almost didn't make the walk home, and he felt as though he was older than he should be. His day had generally sucked.

As soon as he turned off the light, Jordan fell asleep. As his conscious brain shut down, he was thinking about the test he knew he had failed. ~What's up with that?...~ was the last thought out.

Jordan suddenly found himself in a library. This library was entirely made of shelves and the books that went on them. "Whoa!" was all Jordan could say.

After staring around in awe for a few minutes, Jordan felt a tug on his sleeve. He looked down to see a blue Shoryu. "Hello, Jordan."

Jordan frowned and opened his mouth, but the Shoryu flapped up and put a finger over his mouth. "Don't say anything. You want to know who I am, right?" Jordan nodded and opened his mouth again, but as before, the Shoryu put her hand on his mouth. "I can't tell you who I am and where you are. You have to figure it out. Now go on." She waved him away and flew off down a hallway.

~Okay... that was weird. ~ Jordan looked around. ~So I have to figure out where I am and who she is? That shouldn't be too hard. But first... ~ He walked up to one of the bookshelves. He looked over the titles and saw how weird they were. There was one called 'Confusion' and another one called 'Inner Panic'. ~Weird. As if they're explaining how I feel right now. Let's see if I can't find anything to help me here.

~ He turned to the other side and saw titles like 'Puzzling Pursuits' and 'Cracking Mysteries.' ~It's as though these books are mimicking my thoughts and feelings. But they can't be, can they? ~ He closed his eyes, thought of Neopets -because of that Shoryu- and opened his eyes again. Now he saw titles like 'Blue Paintbrushes' and 'Shoryus'. ~They ARE mimicking me! Then that means... ~ "This is my memory 'bank' of sorts?"

The Shoryu appeared out of nowhere. "Correct! Now who am I?" Jordan pondered it for a minute, then opened his mouth. As he had expected, the Shoryu put her hand over his mouth. "I already know you figured it out. Nice to finally meet you in person, Jordan." This was his Knowledge guardian, Gwen.

~Can I speak now Gwen? ~ She shook her head. "Don't bother seeing as I AM your knowledge guardian, I pick up on all of your thoughts, so you don't have to speak. Like right now, you're wondering why you're dreaming about me." Jordan nodded. "Well you're not. We, we being your Guardians, have taken you for a little trip. We set up that thing yesterday to meet you. You see, the only way guardians can do anything special is if we had been believed in earlier, then our ward-the person we're guarding- has to have a failure of faith, as you did."

Jordan blinked a few times to give himself time to think. Later he would wonder why he wasn't stopped when he spoke, but only later. "So, why did you want to meet me?" Gwen's head turned away and she blushed.

"Uh... Well... We all wanted to meet you because... well, we all think you're cute." She flew up to him and kissed him on the nose.

Jordan stood there in a mixture of shock and surprise. ~H.. wh... haa.... Ga...... ~ He fainted from the shock half.

Later, Jordan woke up in a bed. He was under the covers, without his bedclothes. He was in his boxers. He looked around to see that Gwen was lying next to him. He stroked the sleeping Shoryu's head. ~So my guardians are in love with me. This... is very odd. But I think I could get used to it. ~

When Gwen woke up, she scooted back, blinked, then came close again. "So you don't reject us?" Jordan shook his head and beckoned with his hand. Gwen came up and snuggled him, her head on his chest. He put his arm around her.

"So. My Guardians are in love with me?" Gwen nodded. "So what do I have to do again?"

Gwen stroked Jordan's chest. "You have to meet each of us, completing a test." Jordan massaged her back. "Mmmmm... That feels good, Jordan." She arched her back as he moved his hands lightly over her wings, massaging the flying muscles. She responded by rubbing her hands over his chest. She moved down Jordan's body, moving from his chest and arms down to his legs and feet. She left his crotch alone, and that was fine by him.

Jordan was a little surprised when Gwen flipped over to massage his legs, but worked with it. He grabbed her tail and began to explore it while massaging it. He heard a moan and felt her working harder on his legs.

After the shared massages were completed, they curled up together, kissed again, then fell asleep.

Just before he fell asleep, Jordan had one last thought.

~I could get used to this. ~

(I really liked writing this one. I hope you enjoyed reading it.
