#8 of Wolf Heat

Ok. In this chapter we'll make a quick visit to Terra's pack, seeing how Luna and the gang are doing. We won't be making any time jumps; the story takes place slightly after the last chapter.

OBS. Please read the after notes as I will tell you something important there, perhaps for some it will be unseen for what it is, but I'll still give it a try.

LEFT BEHIND

Luna walked back and forth along side the riverbank of the small river. She had spent an increasing time there since Ventus left. Eventually she sighted and dropped to the ground with a loud thud. For the last couple of days she had relentlessly tried to find out what to do, how to deal with her feelings and at first, how to get a hold of Ventus. The day after she had found out about that he had left she searched the territory for his sent trail that should have been left behind from the scent glands between his toes. But as expected the trail had mostly vanished.

So in other words, she had no idée where he was, or what she should do, and so she felt trapped. Like all the doubt and unknowing had turned into walls sealing her in, trapping her.

And now as she was lying there breathing in the sent of the grass and the flowers, she also felt left behind, she felt angry. How could Ventus just have left her behind like that without even saying goodbye after...After what they had done together that day!

She sighed again in frustration, frowning. It didn't lead her anywhere did it? She was still just as trapped and she knew it. But anger is a warm feeling, while loneliness is cold as ice, so she warmed herself in the sickening warmth of her angers and frustrations.

'I don't care about him...He can burn for all I care...' She mumbled to herself, feeling a quick sting of guilt at the thought, before it was consumed by her anger.

She drifted of in a state of half sleep, her ears pinned down and her tail between her legs. Mumbling angry statements with a worried frown.

Silvia looked towards the lake with the small river connected to it. She could almost see her daughter lying there, as she had been doing a lot these past days.

At first she had respected her mate Terra's opinion and let her be, but now she thought that maybe Luna would not come to them to talk by herself. Just because you don't want help, doesn't mean you don't need help. That's what went through Silvia's mind as she made her way to her daughter.

The air was heavy, hard to describe. As if the lukewarm emotion loaded air forced itself down your lungs and press down all around and inside you.

'Luna, honey...Are you alright?' She asked as she approached the heartbroken female.

***

Terra was talking to Pomi, the large red and brown wolf. Pomi sure was a character, Terra though. He was a chubby wolf with almost a bit fluffy fur, red-brown fur covering most of him, while his back was all brown. Even do he's not much older then Terra, he had that kind old uncle characteristics. And he was indeed very kind, most know for his heart warming smile he was the packs favourite 'uncle'.

In fact Terra is probably the only one that have ever seen him mad, and that's why he knows better then anyone the sheer power and wisdom that Pomi possesses. That is also why he rose to being the beta of the pack, and that was just where Terra wanted him.

Terra's mind wandered from their conversation as he noticed Silvia, his mate and the alpha female of the pack approach them.

'Silvia what...' He started to say before he was interrupted.

'Terra, something is wrong with Luna, and she won't talk about it. She is in a really bad mood and won't let anyone near her. I know you know more then you're telling.' She said, anger and worry mixed into her voice.

Terra sighed.

'Excuse us Pomi, this might take a while. Would you mind?' Terra said softly to his old friend.

'Fair enough.' Pomi replied and got up, leaving his two leaders alone.

Silvia watched as Pomi left. He was an old friend to her as well, but she was still relieved that Terra fixed them some privacy.

'Ok Terra, now tell me what you know.' She said, her mate letting out another heavy sigh.

***

Luna felt like a void...That might be a good way to describe it. Her mind was a void only now and then disturbed at the surface by emotions and thoughts. Perhaps it's not a void but loneliness playing tricks on her, it really didn't matter.

Her mother and her sister and some others from the pack had tried to get through to her, but she had turned away all of them quite roughly. She just didn't want to see anyone.

However that was another of her wishes that seemed to go ungranted as she heard someone approaching.

She frowned.

'Go away, just leave me alone!' She barked at the wolf.

'Don't mind me Luna' Answered Pomi. Luna was of some rezone surprised to see him, as if his presence didn't suit into her situation. His warm smile seemed so alien to her inner void.

'I just came over in search of a quiet place to rest. This spot is beautiful is it not?' He continued, lying down on the grass.

Luna overcame the first surprise feeling and bared her teeth, to leave no mistake that she wanted to be alone.

'Didn't you here me!? I said leave me alone!!' She barked at him. However she got no answer. Staring furiously at Pomi she suddenly heard a soft snore. He was sleeping! She could not believe it; he had just fallen asleep like that, as if nothing unusual was happening.

Luna just didn't know how to react to that. First she thought of trying to drive him away again, but something about the situation made her hesitate, it didn't seem like such a big deal anymore. She came to the conclusion that a sleeping Pomi wouldn't be much bother, and went back to her glooming. Although it seemed a bit less craving to do so.

Hours passed and it became evening. It took until then before Luna again heard the soft voice of Pomi next to her.

'You miss him don't you?' He said in a soft understanding voice, the kind of voice that let you know that the understanding comes from personal true experience, tracing sadness as well.

Luna looked over to him. He lied there by the river, his refection in the water showed his smile, but it was a different smile, it was more serious and much sadder.

'No I don't. I couldn't care less about him! She answered with a frown.

Pomi ignored her and just continued.

'It hurts doesn't it?'

Luna was quiet for awhile; a cold wind ruffled her fur and made the grass move in waves.

'I just don't understand why he left so sudden. Why did it happen Pomi?' She asked. She wasn't angry anymore, just sad and confused.

Pomi glanced at her and locked her to his eyes. She stared deep into those eyes that seemed to contain so much wisdom, and so much sadness.

'Luna. I want you to listen carefully to what I'm about to tell you... Throughout life I have learned that we cannot control what will happen. But what we can control is how we are going to react to it. I want you to think about this as you meet hardships in your life.' He said, and Luna understood that this was a truth backed up by a life of experience.

'How am I ever going to be happy again?' She asked, feeling that this might be her only chance to get answers.

Pomi smiled to her.

'Happiness is a matter of choice Luna. You must understand that.' He said before walking away, leaving the baffled Luna to her thoughts.

So what do you think? Hasn't been any yiff for some time but I'll try to work into future chapters, perhaps the next one.

Now I'm going to tell you something important, in this chapter I gave out something that means a lot to me.

Pomi's personality is actually based on a martial art master I once met. He was an old man with a great smile that came from the heart and he told me many important things. Two of those things I reviled in this chapter, and I really hope you take them to your heart as I have.

The first is that we cannot control what will happen. But what we can control is how we are going to react to it. Think closely on this one and you'll see that it applies to everything in life.

The seconded is that happiness is a matter of choice. If you understand the first one you will see that this one is also true.

I really hope that you take some time to think about this, I could write an entire chapter on either one of these, but it is better for you to think about it yourself. This is my special gift to you, two pieces of wisdom that have helped me greatly, and so I hope they will help you.
