Transformation Part 2

I was soaring whimsically through the air, glancing at the trees and mountains and lakes below me. It was a wonderful feeling, to be so free.

I did a barrel roll and laughed, I had all the control in the world, my massive wings kept me afloat like I was weightless, for a moment anyway.

But a moment later, I was falling rapidly, the wind whipping at my feathers as I lost control and did a nosedive. The ground was whooshing up at me faster than it should have been, like I was diving in on prey.

I flared up my wings, but it didn't slow me down, I kept falling until I could make out individual trees, lakes, and creeks. I was falling fast, and I was about to hit!

Thump!

I shook my body fiercely and opened my eyes. My heart was beating furiously in my chest! It was all a dream!

I was still in a forest though, trees all around. I blinked to clear my vision, but it didn't do anything, my vision was fine.

I shook my head off in confusion and tried to stand up, but I noticed that I was on all fours. I looked down to my feet. Two bird-like claws were in place of my front paws. I sat down on my haunches and raised my claw so I could get a better look.

Yep, they were bird claws.

I felt my face, and like expected it was a beak. Hm, I must have changed again. Curious, I swung my head around and got a good look at my body, I was a gryphon all right. I had an avian upper body and large angelic wings atop my back. My feathers were black and white all over, with mixes of grey interspersed between. It was a nice coloration.

My bottom half was that of a white tiger, black and white stripes.

I was very feral, a four legger with no hands. I wondered If I could talk.

"Hello?" I asked the trees. No answer, of course. My voice was different, but you could still tell it was me, it was just somewhat higher pitched.

I stood up again and stretched my wings as far as I could. It was a good feeling to stretch them, like getting a good stretch in after sitting in class for too long.

I took a moment to stretch out other parts of my body including my neck, tail, and legs. I felt refreshed.

Wait, did Strype knock me out? What happened?

I tried to recall what happened before I fell out of consciousness, it all seemed to blurry, like I was watching a movie. The police, the high frequency pitch, me sending Strype through the wall.

Right, I sent him through a wall, maybe that's why he knocked me out. I guess I deserved it.

I chuckled quietly to myself and sat back down on my haunches. I had no idea where I was, only that I was in a small clearing in a forest. One would assume I was far away from any civilization. I bet I pissed a lot of people off by reducing that wall to rubble.

Oh well, there were more important issues at hand here.

Noise! In the bushes! I quickly got into defense position, waiting to see what was coming.

"Well, good to see you're awake!" It was only Strype. I calmed down when I realized who it was. He looked really small, I was actually looking down at him, even though I was on all fours. I must have been huge, I guess I didn't pick up on that earlier.

"Hey, good to see ya." I greeted him.

All the other furs came into view soon after. Strype, Cooper, Ether, Welnis, Lethias, Ember, Frost, and Cole. Yes, even Cole was there.

They all seemed so tiny.

"So, what the hell's wrong with you?" Lethias scolded. "You're all worried about us getting caught, you tell us to not use our powers, and you go and blow the shit out of the jail!"

I took in a deep sigh, but Welnis interrupted before I could say anything.

"Yeah man, what the hell? Do you want us to all be killed?"

I raised a claw to answer, but Ember stood in front of me and tried to explain.

"Look guys, don't be so hard on Runa, I doubt he had any control, or he wouldn't have done that. You know him as well as I do, I really don't think he meant to." She turned and looked at me. "Did you?"

I slowly shook my head. "Of course not, but what are you all so worried about? They can't hurt us."

"Some of us still want a place in society, Runa. Just because you hate people, it doesn't mean we do too." Lethias stated.

"Then go to that society you love so much. What are they gonna do to stop you? I'm sure your family and friends still like you, even though you're a dragon, you're still the you they've come to know and love. And look at Steven, do you really think he's gonna keep bugging you about being a fur since you proved to him you actually are one?"

He just crossed his arms and flared up his wings. "That's not the point."

I rolled my eyes and shook my head. "Look, is anyone actually afraid to go back to society? We live in a world where we can become phenomenon's, not just something to be feared, just deal with it and don't be an idiot. Look, I'm going back, anyone want to go with me?" I offered.

Ember put up her paw.

"Alright then, hop on." I instructed as I swung my head around and pointed her to my back. She jumped up and straddled my wings. "Anyone else?"

No takers.

"Fine, see ya, I got shit to do, thanks for keeping me from being killed, I'll repay the favour some day." And with that, I crouched down and leapt up as high as I could before flapping my monstrous wings and whooshing off into the distance.

Nobody followed me. I could tell they were all a little upset, but they knew they weren't gonna do anything about it.

I found flying to be really easy, like riding a bike. It was like I always knew how to do it, and lucky for me, because I'd never flown with wings before.

"You okay back there?" I called back to Ember.

"Yeah, this is awesome!" She yelled back.

DODODO, DEDEDEDEDEDEDE, dedededededededededede!

DODODO, DEDEDEDEDEDEDE, dedededededededededede!

It was my damn phone again, Ember must have put it in her pocket or something.

"Here, it's for you!" She said as she pressed a cellphone to my ear. Well, the little hole that was where my ear should be.

"Hello?" I asked in a particularly raspy voice.

"Gordon? Is that you?!" I heard a deep voice ask.

"Yeah, who is this?" I asked back.

"It's Sam...you'll never guess what happened!" He was incredibly giddy, I could guarantee I knew what happened.

"Lemme guess, you're Kayden."

There was a moment of silence on the other end before he responded. "How did you know?"

"It's pretty obvious, you can hear it in your voice...just a second." I pushed the cellphone away from my head and yelled back to Ember. "So, which way to Woodstock?"

She didn't say anything, just pointed what I suspected was east. I adjusted my flight and put the phone back to my ear with Ember still holding it in place.

"I'm gonna come get you, meet me outside and tell mom to get the truck out of the driveway!"

"Okay!" He said enthusiastically and hung up.

Good kid. This was going to be interesting.

The trip to Norwich was incredibly quick, couldn't have been more than 15 minutes. Gryphons fly fast!

Ember and I talked about the change and stuff, I thanked her for defending me from the others, and we talked about how big I was. Apparently I was like 8 feet long without my tail, and with the tail, had to be 15-16 feet long. She couldn't get a good length on my wingspan, but she guessed at least twice as wide as I was long, so like 30ish feet.

That's a hell of a wingspan.

Fifteen minutes later, as I hovered over Norwich, I found my house amongst the small town roadways, and I settled down. The house looked so small, and I was as big as the truck, easily.

I had to be careful to not let my wings hit anything, so the last 40-50 feet, I had to let myself drop. The resulting thud was incredibly loud, I even heard a car alarm go off in the distance.

Ember dismounted and looked around. "So this is your home eh?" She asked. "Not too bad."

Just then, the door swung open, and out burst Sam, in his lovely new black anthro fox form. He was at least six feet tall, had long pointy ears, and a bushy tail sticking out the back of his black army pants.

He wore nothing on his upper body, but he had scars across his chest where no fur grew. It was a rather grisly sight, and I wasn't sure if it was because of his acne or if it was part of his character.

"Cool shit, Eh? Nice scars." I commented.

"Dude, this is so fuckin cool!" He exclaimed as he came over to see me. "You're fuckin huge, what happened?" He must have been talking about my new transformation.

"Oh, the Gryphon? Um, I changed yesterday again, probably around the same time you did." I suggested.

"That's so cool! What can you do? Check this out!" He raised a paw and made a small ball of ice out of nothing. "Sweet eh? What about you?"

"Whoa there, slow down. I didn't know you were a Cryomancer." I pointed out. "And hold on a bit, I don't know what I can do. If it's in accordance with the character I made, then I can do pretty much anything."

Just then, Mom and Dad came out the door to see me.

"Oh my god!" Mom gasped as she covered her mouth.

"Cool!" dad exclaimed. How unlike him, maybe he was finally coming around.

"It was you who blew up the police station!" Mom managed to eek out.

I just shrugged. "It was an accident, nobody was hurt, it's fine."

Mom just shook her head, "No, it's not fine, you're all over the news, they're calling you a terrorist...."

But Sam cut her off. "It's fine mom, what are they gonna do? Nothing, there's nothing they can do!"

"Are you sure?" she asked.

I laughed and nodded. "I'm sure. Ask Ember here, there's little they can do to hurt me."

Ember nodded and smiled. "I don't know why, but he can do some really cool things. You should see the one thing he does with magic. It's really cool!"

Everyone stayed silent for a while before Sam broke the silence.

"So, what's next?" He asked. "We've got all these cool assed powers, what do we do? Fight crime? Make TV shows? Do magic for money? So many options!" It was funny watching my brother, now Kayden Waveharp, express his concerns and interests.

I sat down on my haunches and scratched the bottom half of my beak. "I dunno, I was thinking about just chilling here for a while. I figure, people know about my powers now, since it's all over the news, so there's little I can do to hide it, so I might as well have fun with it."

Mom just started waving her hand, "Noooo, you're not coming here and bringing trouble. If you want to go have your fun, you go somewhere else with it. I don't need the FBI or whatever coming to our doorstep just because you got stupid!"

I just shrugged my massive feathered shoulders. "What is anyone going to do to stop me? I could turn this town into a crater if I wanted to. There's nothing any human can do to hurt me...if all is like I think it is, then I'm like a god." All I wanted right now was for them to go back into the house and stop bothering me, meddlesome humans.

Mom and Dad just stared at me for a moment before shaking their heads and going back into the house.

"That was easy, can you fly?" I asked Sam.

"I dunno, I don't think so."

"Hop on." I instructed him. He and Ember both got on my back, and off we went again, my kick off causing small potholes in the ground beneath me.

We were going back to London.

"So, what happened in the jail?" Sam asked as we flew over the highway.

"I dunno, they interviewed me, and I came back, and this transformation happened, but this time it really hurt, and I guess I must have discharged some energy or something, because I did some damage to the building."

"You have no idea." Ember said. "Plus, people are afraid of us again....which is gonna take some time to fix."

I just shook my head in shame. It was my fault, but I could fix it. I had to fix it, it was my responsibility.

Another boring trip, another interesting conversation. This one was about the transformation into Kayden. As it turns out, Sam was watching TV with mom, when he suddenly fell asleep on the couch. As he lied there, mom noticed that he was growing fur all over himself, and his body was morphing.

She took all sorts of pictures of it, and tried to wake him up, but he didn't wake until the transformation was complete. When he did, of course he was ecstatic. He tried calling me a few times, but he got Ember, who had my phone. I had just changed, so I had been knocked out.

So, now all was well, except my other furry friends were now upset with me. I sat in thought for a moment about them and realized that deep down inside, they weren't angry, mostly they just didn't want the inconvenience of having to regain the public trust.

I guess they were right, but they still had a right to be mad at me.

We eventually made it to the town, but I had no idea where everyone was, so I had to land on the top of the tallest building.

"What are you doing?" Ember asked. "Don't you know where everyone is?"

"No, do you?"

"Well, no, but..."

"Then get off my back." I growled.

"No need to be grumpy." She grumbled.

"I'm not being grumpy, just get off my back about it. I'm thinking." I looked out over the side of the building and to the many cars and people below. Nobody knew we were here.

Where was everyone?

I closed my eyes and concentrated on....Frost. I figured most people would be with him, everyone liked Frost.

He was still in the forest...almost all of them were sitting in a circle talking about the situation at hand. I noticed that Strype and Cooper were both absent.

"Okay guys, they're still in the forest where I woke up from. It's just south of town." I informed them.

"Are you sure?" Ember inquired.

I spun my head around and glared at her. "Don't question me, I just know."

"Sorry." She whispered as she laid her ears back.

"Lighten up Runa." Kayden warned.

"My name's Ceylon, get it right. You should know that by now." And before they could protest, I leapt off the building, soaring into the skies.

South of London we went, and I could see the forest very well. MY vision was exceptional, so I could see every leaf and even the bugs on the tress. Needless to say, I found them all quite easily.

Once I found them, I dove down, screeching loudly to let them know I was coming. The lot of them all scattered to make way for me to land as I daintily set down.

"Why hello!" I greeted them all.

"What are you doing here?" Lethias groaned. "You're going to lead them right to us."

"Shut up. You'll be fine, you sissy dragon. I'll protect you." I mocked.

Kayden and Ember both dismounted me and got out of my way as Lethias flared his wings and growled at me, "Don't patronize me!" he growled.

I shrugged my shoulders dismissively. "Grow up. Seriously, what are you gonna do about it?"

Lethias went to leap at me, but Welnis got in the way. "Guys, this is the last thing we need! Both of you, settle the fuck down!"

I went to swipe at Welnis with my tail, but stopped myself before I did anything rash. Lethias calmed down a bit and retracted his wings. He didn't apologize. I didn't expect him to.

What has gotten into me? Why was I fighting with my friends?

"So, where is Strype and Cooper?" Ember asked, trying to clear the air.

Frost shrugged. "Something about doing what they could to make people trust us. They went back into town, I guess."

"You guess?" I demanded. "It didn't occur to you to ask them?"

He just shrugged again. "Not really any of my business. If they wanted to tell me, they would have."

I growled in frustration and looked around. Ether was leaning against a tree, Welnis was between Lethias and myself, Frost was beside Ember and Kayden. Cole was nowhere to be found.

"What about Cole?" I asked.

Ether walked toward me and looked around nonchalantly. "Nobody knows. He said he was going to take a piss, but he never came back...hey, who's this?" he asked, pointing to Kayden.

"It's Sam!" Kayden answered. "Cool eh?"

Ether went over to check Kayden out. The two of them looked at each other and were both genuinely pleased with what they saw. It was cool, watching two furs discover one another.

"If you two start making out, I'll crush your skulls together." I warned.

They both just laughed. "Lighten up. It's just cool to check out others." Ether pointed out as he looked closer at Kayden's Scarred chest.

I sat on my haunches and let everyone else congregate around me. Everyone got a chance to ask Kayden about his transformation, and Lethias and I apologized. It was weird how I was so quick to change my mind.

I was thinking about Strype, and what he could be doing to fix what I'd done. I couldn't think of anything, but I got a short flash of a waiting room, and Cooper sitting in one of the chairs. She was calmly reading a magazine as others pointed and stared. Stype was talking to the receptionist.

"I want to help." He said. "Take me to someone who can guide me in the right direction."

I shook my head and tried to get the image out. It was so vivid....

Right, I was a psychic. I needed to start actually thinking about Ceylon. He was a powerful telekinetic mage, and a great psychic.

"Hey guys." I said with a quavering voice. "I think I just realized something."

"What's that?" Ember asked with concern in her voice.

"I'm a bloody psychic, I can find that terrorist."

Everyone just stared at me for a moment as they let that sink in. Nobody blinked for a good solid minute.

Then Kayden raised his hands in exasperation. "So what are you waiting for? Let's go!"
