Ok thanks for the comments last chapter...I wasn't sure if people were even Reading this story hehe.

"RUN!"

This was all Sam said before sprinting away and into a different direction than they were traveling. The 3 men without a single idea on what just happened wordlessly agreed with each other and ran at full speed in the direction that Sam had gone.

They were plowing their way through the ever thickening forest floor with only Sam's voice shouting ahead of then keeping the soldiers moving in the correct direction. Their lungs were burning with the effort of a full sprint through the terrain and roots that were always threatening to trip one of then men over.

Sam dashed to the right and with amazing speed climbed a thick tree in seconds. He franticly looked around the thick covering of leaves until saying "Got it!" before grabbing what seemed to be a rope. He pulled on the rope with all of his strength and at the base of the tree a small section of the tree came up.

Sam jumped down and said to the men as they arived "get in here...it should be big enough" without question they are went into the section of the tree that had been lifted up, and found themselves in a compleatly hollow tree trunk. The trunk was only lit by the light comming from the gap that they had just entered, it seemed just big enough for all 4 of them to lay down in and tall enough so they could stand up.

Sam swiftly joined them inside before pulling a rope on the inside of the tree which lowered the section and sealed out all light leaving them in compleate darkness.

No-one spoke for a little while, everyone was trying to regain their breath from the sudden burst of movement they had done. Until Whitpen pulled out his red light torch and turned it on.

He shined it around where they were all standing. Before Sam said "cool...what is that thing?"

Whitpen looked over to Sam who was starring at the touch with a wide eyed expression of curiousity. Without answering the question he asked "Sam what is 'the darkness'? Why were you so scared off it?"

Sam crossed his furry arms and said in a defient tone "I'm not scared off it!" but this only made Snake laugh.

Snake then said "you were terrified of it, you should have seen the look on your face!"

Segolia spoke "Snake if he's so scared of it he could have quite easily left us there...now Sam can you tell us why we are sitting in some old tree?"

Sam uncrossed his arms and said "well first off all this is my Den, not 'some old' tree. But they don't seen to harm us when we are in shelter."

Whitpen said in a confused tone "They? Who's they?"

Sam replied in a tone that indercated that they should know this already somehow "the darkness. They never seem to attack when we are in shelter." Sam then remembered that these humans had not been here before and said "That cloud you saw? Well it's like a swarm of bugs. These things do stuff to others...bad stuff."

Snake then said "oh great so now we are fighting bugs? This place just keeps getting better and better!"

Sam continued "Dad said that they corrupt everyone they get to...just like Blood fang."

Segolia said with intrest "those wolf things?"

Sam replied while fiddeling with his knife belt "it makes you do things...it made them...it...they."

Sam was starting to sob slightly and whitpen said "calm down Sam, we need to know what the Darkness does."

Sam's ears pricked up as he remembered something he had been taught "oh yeah...take of your shirts...check your chests for things"

Whitpen was taken back but calmly replied "what things?"

Sam answered "I don't know really...but just things, marks maybe...it changed for each race...for mine we get 6 black Dots on our arms."

Whitpen nodded towards the other 2 patrol members and they started checking themselves and each other over.

Sam with a hint of sadness in his voice kept on speeking "The whole blood fang tribe got hit by the darkness. It changed them, they use to have gray fur but afterwards it turned pitch black and they attacked everyone..." Sam was about to break up again but he took a breath and didn't stop "After the darkness had gone my tribe came out of their shelters only to find Blood fang waiting for us...without warning the just started killing everyone...They killed my mother...right infront of me!"

Tears welled up in his eyes again as the 3 men exchanged glances with each other.

Segolia put his hand on sam's shoulder for comfort. It was trembling. Segolia thought to himself "at such a young age he's already seen that?"

Sam then said with a wavering voice "me and my dad lived along with about half of our tribe. Out of no-where humans came up and used this things that made a huge bang but they only aimed at Blood fang members. I think they were saving us."

Whitpen said "you were saved by other humans? So that's why that wolf try'd to kill us." he thought back to the moment when that wolf was holding him in a death grip ready to rip the life out if him. Just like they did with Doyel.

Sam said "it's why I trust humans like you. But my dad doesn't trust them...he said it was Humans that caused the darkness to attack, angered them into comming out again."

Segolia had been taking notes in his notebook then said "how long ago was this?" he was hopping that there would be a way of contacting these other humans.

Sam scraches his head with his claws before saying "err...9 winters ago...I was very young, but after that I can't remember much, and no-one will tell me what happened." he was looking at his paws when he said exitedly "Oh but I did over hear that they went to a spire of something. That's the last anyone ever heard of them, but after they did that the Darkness stopped."

segolia said "so it stopped? That means it's only just started again now?...in that case your dad could be right, our friends are out there somewhere. As much as I don't want to think about it they could have made this happen...although I very much doubt it."

Sam then spoke up "where are they?"

Snake said "we don't know. That's all there is too it. We can't even contact then through this thing" he pointed to his ear radio. Then tryed it out before jumping up. "hey guys I can hear a voice through it! It's faint but it's there."

Everyone stood up and said "who is it?"

Snake then repeated words he could hear "Hill...still alive...spire...cloud...help!" he then shouted back "hello?!...damn it i've lost them...they've gon..."

He didn't finish his sentence. He just stopped and looked blank.

Whitpen said "Snake? Are you ok?"

Segolia shook him saying "snap out of it what's wrong?"

Snake's eyes clouded over with a sheet of black. His voice voice changed and sounded echoy and not his own "We aRe tHe DaRknEsS!"

Sam went into shock "it...it got him."

Whitpen shouted "Snake! Hold on! Sam how do we fix this!"

Sam was watching Snake with scared eyes and he didn't answer.

Snake said "You cAn nOt sToP uS...yOu dO noT bEloNg heRE! You WiLl be DesTroYeD!!"

Snake reached his arms out and grabbed Segolia by the throat and squeezed.

Segolia was grasping at Snake to try and stop him. His breath was cut off and blood was welling up in his head.

Whitpen tryed to pry Snake of Segolia while shouting "Snake!!! Snap out of it!! Come back!

Snake said in the ominus voice "YoU SpIlL blOoD...We wILl SpiLl youR BlOoD! AcePt YouR fATe HuMaNs!"

Segolias eyes were rolling back into his head and his atempts to get away were weakening. But just as he was about to loose his life Sam pulled out his knife and brought the handle down hard on Snakes head causing a loud crack sound and Snake to colapse.

Segolia was coughing up blood while despratly inhailing the air which he had been deprived off. Whitpen was beside him helping him out.

Sam was looking at the bloody knife handle in his paw in shock.

After about a minute Whitpen checked over Snake "he's still alive. We can still save him!"

Sam emotionlessly said "no we can't. He will be hell bent on killing anyone who's not infected wit h the darkness now...he's gone...I'm sorry!"

Whitpen was shouting now "there must be a way!!"

Sam said only one word "death."

Whitpen stopped and looked at Sam. "you mean kill him? I can't... I can't!!...maybe...maybe if we just.."

Sam shook his head. "blood fang..they only want to kill...he's going to become like them." I've not seen what The Darkness does to humans but he will change."

Hunter, Driver and Graves were all sitting in an underground bunker sort of thing. As soon as the cloud of Black has started seeping out a little trap door near the spire had opened and without hesertation they had gone inside it only to find out it was part of a tunnel complex. The light came from the torches they had turned on and they were sitting on rock just inside the ankle deep water that flowed through the shoulder hight tunnel.

Hunter spoke out "Driver..next time you work something out do NOT do anything to it!"

Graves looked around "where do you think we are?" he looked around and saw that they were sitting in a cross road where tunnels went away in all 4 directions and carried on into to the impenetrable black seal of dark.

Hunter turned on his radio and spoke down it "we are stuck in a tunnel on the large hill, all 3 of us are still alive, we are near a strange black spire that a black cloud shot out off...if you can hear this we need help." for a split second he thought he heard a responce but only static followed. "damn it...ok guys let's go find out where these things go...Driver take point, graves you follow, I'll cover the rear. 1 meter spread ladies and keep those torches attached to your weapons. Graves take your LSW back that's scrach on your arm isn't making anyone else lug it around."

They all checked their ammo and moved Down a random tunnel. But before going Hunter scraped an arrow into the wall to mark where they had gone. Then there was a slight scuttering sound and the small splash of water somewhere behind them. Hunter raised his weapon but could see nothing there. He then followed the other two and waded through the water.

The tunnels were only big enough for then to move in a slightly crouched position and on numerious occasions Driver hit his head on the roof. They seemed to be walking into darkness with no end...almost like they were not moving at all. Every single odd shuffle of a rock or drip of water made the 3 men flinch and scan the area before moving on. Hunter was the only one with tunnel training and even then it was very limited. If something Happened at this moment it would cause utter confusion to the 3 men.

After what seemed like hours of endless walking they came into a cavern with rocks hanging from the roof and more than enough room to stand up.

Driver said "finally! I never thought that tunnel would end." his voice echoed through the open space which must be about 10 meters squared.

Graves then spotted something in the torch light. He walked over to the object he had seen. When he got close he noticed that it was a miltary issue sleeping bag "hey guys check this out."

The others came over and looked it up and down. Spotting 3 more near it. Hunter then said "these look old, like no-ones been here for a very long time." This made then relax.

Driver then said "but it shows someones been here before...and they were miltary personel. Why have we never heard about anyone comming to a place like this before?"

Hunter walked a little way away from the bags and his foot got caught in something In the water. He lifted his foot and on the end was what looked like bones...human bones. "because they didn't survive to tell anyone."

Ok this chapter was once again made on my iPod...I tryed to give a small back ground to Sam and the darkness...I will slowly expand on this later...and does anyone even care about what happened to snake? Hehe
