To Wish Upon a Star

Author's notes: This is only the first chapter of my first REAL story that I'm writing

exclusively for Yiffstar, so make sure you show me lots of love and attention

because I'm awesome and you know it. =^__^=

This is more of a prologue than an actual chapter, it's very short... nothing really gets done here. Instead, I'm just trying to set up all the characters that are in the majority of the story, and make up the community where the main character resides for most of the story.

As far as planning goes, this series as a whole will be M/M

first time, blah blah whatever. All of these characters I'm basing off people in my life... so I can't particularly say I own them XD

Enjoy ^^

Chapter One: First Wish on a Lonely Night

"Star light, star bright, first star I see tonight. I wish I may, I wish I might, have this wish I wish tonight." This was to be the only audible sound over the tranquil lake, conveniently hidden on a side of campus no one particularly went to. The lake was a special place for a young freshman arctic fox by the name of Brian Frostpaw. Following his little chant, he would close his eyes, sprawled out across dew-drenched grass, and make a wish to himself, dreaming amongst the celestial bodies of falling in love for the first time.

Brian had been in college for only a month, and for some reason, the white furred hopeless romantic found himself with little friends. More importantly, college quickly changed from a place in which he had planned to meet many open minded and nice furs to his old high school with narrow-minded bullies and jerks. The only difference was that he was around them all day and night.

"I wish that there was someone near me, anyone, and that someone would love me no matter what. I don't want to be alone much longer; I'm starting to get depressed again like back in high school. Please stars, don't just cast my dreams aside, I just don't want to be so distant anymore. I want there to be someone to hold me and to love me when I feel like crying."

As soon as the thought of shedding tears crossed the boy's mind, sure enough his own eyes began to water up, calling to mind all the painful memories of Brian's past. All the beatings, all the nights he wanted to die, every lonely night there was no one there to hold him and whisper "everything's going to be okay angel" into his ear. All those recollections formed together to create what was seen as the unstable mental psyche of a lonely fox with repressed memories.

For all Brian knew, he was wishing on a different star each night, but that didn't matter to him. Sitting down in front of that lake every night and wishing up this prince charming meant something to him. It was getting late, and the last thing Brian wanted to do was to wake up his roommates when he came in, especially the one creepy one, an equine by the name of T.J. who attempted to yiff every female Brian brought into their room.

Luckily, the fox managed to open the door just as T.J. was turning off the lights to get ready for bed.

"Hey man, have you told your friend Kerry to call me yet? Dude please tell me you gave her my number" the equine chimed in the second Brian entered the room.

"No. I haven't seen her yet, why do you care about my friends so much. You know Kerry's not a brainless slut like all the other girls in this school, she's not your type." Brian would add, defending himself and his friends like he normally did, only to draw even more dispute with his roommate.

"Pfft, why do you care? You have all these morals you've been bragging to me about. All these girls I know are begging me to hook them up with you and you're acting like you're the fucking big shot of the campus. If I were you I'd just make 'em all get in line and fuck 'em one by one."

The fox slowly started stripping into his pajamas which were sure enough, nothing but his plaid boxers. T.J. had his strong gaze fixated upon Brian while he undressed with a smirk across his muzzle.

"I think that's your problem, that's why you don't get any chicks."

"And why is that T.J., what advice could you possibly give me to help me get laid? Of course, you and I both know that I'm the only one in this room that has a decent amount of morals" Brian barked, defending himself.

"Haha... not that," T.J. interrupted, stepping closer to the feminine framed arctic fox. "I'm guessing when you meet girls; you're afraid that they will be confused about who's going to be fucking who."

He simply shook his head, choosing not to respond. Tonight wasn't a good night to get Brian all emotionally rattled up, still upset over the absence of love in his life as he climbed up his bunk and found a comfortable position to fall asleep in, which normally included embracing and basking in the unconditional love only pillows could give Brian right now.

The fox had only been in college for a month, but already he was discovering he would have problems being open with his sexuality towards others. All three of his roommates were straight and brought women in and out of the room like they were a boxes of pizza.

For the time being, he acted like he was straight, but tried to convey his true sexuality through his clothing and the way he acted. Brian borrowed a lot of girly clothes from his close friend Kerry, who most people assumed was Brian's mate. Tight jeans, pink and black stripped shoes and the occasional women's size hoodie tagged with a rainbow wristband sewn to the sleeve were all included in the white furred fox's wardrobe.

Kerry appeared to be a mutt, but by her accounts, she was a full blooded fox, adorned with a sleek shiny mahogany fur coat, specks of gray dotting along her body. Along with her came a less than stellar past, much like Brian, which was half the reason to two gravitated towards one another so closely.

The two of them knew that the other was attracted to the same gender, a secret that wasn't told to anyone other than each other. Their mutual trust in one another fueled the one friendship that Brian was most proud of.

In his dreams, the orange furred boy found himself at the receiving end of a loving embrace and a pair of affectionate kisses, intended for him and him only.

The hardest part was waking up every morning to his cell phone playing "Lying From You" by Linkin Park as his alarm clock, was discovering that the prince charming he had been exchanging kisses with all last night with was in fact a pillow.

What Brian wanted in a mate and a pillow, as different as the two were, they had some similarities. Despite the pillow not being washed for a good two to three weeks, it was always there waiting for him in bed every night. It was willing to soak up all of Brian's tears, suppress the fox's combination of crying then choking on his helpless moans and groans, and be there to cuddle through the long nights on the weekends where the sound of women being pleasured by his roommates reverberated through the room.

"Lying my way from you~! (No, no turning back now) I want to be pushed aside so let me go~ (No turning back now) let me take back my life, I'd rather be all alone--"

At that point, Brian's paws would have meandered through every possible place he could have left his phone, finding it this morning on top of his Playstation two.

The straight out of bed look was definate in his appearance, ice blue eyes failing to develop a clear picture of the room. Paws fumbling over the phone, opening up and shutting off the alarm clock, Brian noticed there was one unread text message.

"Hey, guess what! I found an eighteen and over club we can get into that has a gay night tonight. Maybe both of us can make some new friends or even find someone special tonight -Winks.- Love you kiddo, call me after you get out of your two o'clock class. -Kerry"

To be continued.
