#1 of Devoted Tails

Felicity walked into her overly-small dorm room and threw her books all over the floor. This was not her normal behaviour; she was always such a tidy cat! Messy rooms tended to cause her to clean frantically, perhaps even obsessively. But today was different. As she heavily flopped into a big La-Z-Boy, ready to watch some television and just relax, her roommate, Myxxi, walked out of the bathroom to see what all of the fuss was about. "Hello, Felicity" She said with a smile. Searching for the source of the crashing and banging that had so rudely interrupted her...well...whatever she was doing in there, she noticed the pile of books scattered across the floor and got a curious look on her face. "Have a...?" "Don't even." Felicity said with a snarl. "I had a terrible day. Mid-terms were ridiculously hard. I just know I failed my Algebra class. Harumph. Good riddance, I say. The professer was always trying to peek down my shirt anyway." Myxxi giggled a little and walked over to the La-Z-Boy, giving Felicity a big hug from behind. "It's okay, kitten. I'm sure you did fine. And even if it didn't go so well in Algebra, I just know you got a perfect grade in your art and music classes!!" Myxxi exclaimed with a smile. Felicity sighed heavily and leaned back, relaxing a bit. "I swear, Myx. You always know just how to make me feel better." "Well, what are friends for?!" Myxxi said, happily. "I know how it is to be stressed out over tests. All I ever need is a little bit of talking to and I'm up and ready to go the next day!" Felicity tilted her head a bit and looked up at Myxxi, concerned. "But you always seem to want to be left alone when you're angry!" Myxxi nodded. "I know it seems that way sometimes. It just takes a little work, but once you get me to listen, I melt like butter." She said, smiling sheepishly. "I'm just a little puppy at heart, you know." Felicity grinned slightly, and took Myxxi's hand. "I'm sorry, Myx. If I'd known you needed cheering up all those times, I would've been there for you. Some people just like to be left alone...and...well, I suppose I thought you were.." Myxxi put a finger over Felicity's lips. "Shh, no apology needed!" She exclaimed. You've always been one of my closest friends. I understand!" Felicity smiled. "Myxxi always seems to know exactly what to say" she thought to herself. "I only wish she knew how I feel about her..." Myxxi trailed off into the bathroom, mumbling something Felicity didn't notice, nor probably cared to. She was lost in her own thoughts about how badly she wished her and Myxxi could be together. They had been dormmates for 3 years now, and knew each other since junior high before that. Ever since high school, when Felicity accepted that she was attracted to females, she had secretly been somewhat in love with her best friend. She didn't, however, know if Myxxi was up for that kind of thing. "So then I said, 'I'd rather get my tail castrated than go out with you'. I think he finally got the message." Myxxi said as she returned from the bathroom. "It's not that I...Hey...Felicity, are you listening?" She snapped her fingers at her, and Felicity jumped, startled. "Oh!", she exclaimed. "I'm sorry, I was thinking..." She said, trailing off. "'Bout what?" Myxxi asked, curious. "Looked like you were thinking pretty hard there...don't hurt yourself!" She giggled. "Har har." Felicity rose from the recliner and walked over to Myxxi. She had always wished she had the courage to say something, but could never bring herself to do it. Maybe now was the time...if only she could... "So what's gettin' in-between those cogs, kitten? I could practically hear the fuses blowing from back here." "Myxxi..." She said, trailing off. The hard day had gotten to her; she hadn't felt any affection in a long time, for she really didn't care for any of the males on campus, and was too afraid to tell anyone that she was bisexual. She needed to be loved. "Myxxi, I...I need to ask you something. But..." "But what, Kitten?" Myxxi asked, looking at her deeply. "Is something wrong?" "No, Myx. Not at all. Listen...I need to talk to you. It's really important, but I can't right now...I need to think. Are you busy tonight, or would you stay with me? We can talk over dinner." "Sure, Kitten!" She said happily. "Anything for you." Felicity sat and thought about what she was going to do and say that night frantically. She had just jumped into something she considered huge. Her friendship was on the line; her best friend, at that. Closing her eyes and laying back in her recliner, she thought about how amazing being with Myxxi would be. Pure heaven, she knew. She was so lonely, but kept it buried deeply, never showing it to anyone, not even Myxxi. Lost in her own thoughts, she eventually dozed off. Myxxi had been busy trying to fix the mess of fur on her head; they had classes at different times, and she was about to leave for hers. Having slept all day, she barely had time to shower. Smiling silently to herself as she passed by the peacefully sleeping Felicity, she walked out the door, latching it behind her. As she walked on to the campus, she let out a long sigh. "I love you, Kitten...please kip up."

Myxxi unlatched the deadbolt on her dorm's door and walked inside. She froze dead in her tracks; she was suddenly faced with the most unexpected thing she could've imagined. Felicity had asked her to stay that night for dinner, but this... In the dining area of their small living space was their normal tiny dining table, nothing expensive. But this time it was different: An elegant tablecloth was draped over it, candles lit, with soft music playing in the background and an exquisite Italian meal that looked absolutely delectable was laid out, with place settings for two. Thoughts began racing through her mind as she walked towards the extravagence. "Umm...Felicity?" She called, uncertain. "Kitten, dear...where have you gone?" She was apparently nowhere to be found. Myxxi called out again and again, walking through the dorm, but noone answered. As she approched their bedroom, Felicity appeared in the doorway. "Hey Myx." She smiled. "You're late." Myxxi ran her eyes up and down Felicity's body. She tried to gasp, but couldn't find the air to do so, nor the courage. Felicity was wearing a semi see-through dress, a large pink bow around her waist, with her hair down, which was somewhat unusual for her. Myxxi had never seen her like this before, and secretly felt honoured. "I...Felicity...you look nice...are you expecting someone?" She managed to choke out. "I thought we were going to talk about something tonight, but if you made other plans..." Felicity made a hushing noise and took Myxxi's hand, leading her to the dining room. "I was expecting only you, Myx." She said contentedly. "Take a seat. Dinner's ready, and we need to talk about a lot of things." Speechless, Myxxi took a seat. "I...you...you made dinner for me?" "Are you kidding? I can't cook. It's from that Italian place down the street." "Oh, of course!" Myxxi relaxed a little. "Shall we, Myx?" "Sure, I'm starving." She said, taking a drink from a glass of wine in front of her. Felicity took a small bite of her pasta, but it was becoming more obvious as the seconds passed that they were both more interested in the issue at hand than eating. The wine was pleasing, however. After a few minutes of silence and random pawing at their food, the silence was finally broken. "Umm...Kitten?" "Yes, Myx?" "I just have to know...what did you want to speak with me about? It sounded really important. I've been worried about you all day.." She asked, her sincerity spilling over into her voice. "Is everything okay, kitten?" Felicity looked her deeply in the eyes, reaching across the dining table and taking her by the hands. "Myxxi...what I'm about to say...it's hard for me, but I have to do it. I have to let you know now. Promise me you will not forsake our friendship over this...please..." "I promise, Kitten." "Well, Myxxi..." Myxxi had begun to understand where this was going when she realized the dinner and outfit felicity had prepared was for her. Her heart was racing; she began to believe it was about to burst out of her chest. Did Felicity know how she felt, she wondered....how long...how long? "Myx, darling, ever since we graduated high school...since we became so close...I realized that I felt different about you than I'd ever felt about normal friends, male or female....I don't know how to say this, Myx...I'm so afraid of judgement....So I just have to say it...Myxxi...I... "I love you, Kitten." Felicity stopped cold. What just happened? No way. I'm dreaming. I'm dreaming, I'm dreaming, I'm dreaming...What? "What?" "I love you, kitten. I always have. Even before high school..." "How..what...How did you live without telling me for so long?!" She gasped. How could this be happening?! "I don't even know anymore, kit. But to know that you...I...Kit..." She stopped short and jumped from her seat, tears running down her face. Suddenly she leapt forward, taking Felicity in her arms, holding her tightly, as tightly as she'd always wished she could. "God, I love you, Kit." "I love you too, Myx...I love you too."
