#1 of Wolfen's Life

This is my first story. It is furry in nature. Blah blah. Dont laugh. Nothing yiffy yet. Blah Blah. The first thing I remember, was the rain. The rain was pounding down on me. The sound filling my ears as I lay on the cement. I coughed as some water got in my mouth. I couldnt see from the rain and the darkness. As I looked around I couldnt help but cry, I was lost. The rain had put my fur beyond soaked, and I was cold, very cold. I sat up and winched, my back felt like i had been hit. I sat on the ground dripping, crying, and naked. The rain had woken me up, and now I could feel it, weighing down my fur, and getting in my eyes. But I could still see some figure in the dark, coming closer. The rain had woken me up right before he got here. That rain that made me cold, made me wet, made me cry. That rain that I began to love. At the time I didnt have a name. I was around 5 years old, but nobody knew for sorten. I'm a grey wolf. At the time I had no memory of before That Night. I came to call it The Night, because it was like my birthday. My life started in the rain, in a strange city, on a strange street, cold and wet. And I have always felt it would end the same way. The figure came to me, tall, dark, very scary to my young eyes. I wept more, afraid of what this person would do to me. The pain in my back had now spread throughout my body, as if i had been beaten, and it hurt when the figure picked me into his arms. Brown, sort furred fingers rubbed my body as I was held. With nothing better, I cuddled up into him, trying to get warm, his large body towering over me. He turned and walked to a small car, brown, if I remember right. He set me in the back, then got in the front and drove off. I kept weeping, not knowing what was happening. A small blanket was handed back to me, I took it thankfuly, wraping up in it, I got warmer. I slowed my crying as I looked out the window, seeing a bright city pass by. People in coats, with umbrellas walking down the streets, shops opening and closing, lights going on and off. I was surprised when a large bright white building appeared, even more when the driver got out. I crawled into his arms when he opened the door. He put his long nose over me, keeping some of the water off, as he walked into the building. The lights were to bright, so i took some of the blanket and covered my face, I heard the man speak, a low deep voice, then a higher female voice answered back. Soon he was walking again, a door sound then more walking. He put me down, what felt like a bed was under me. I looked through the blanket a little, seeing that I was above the ground a ways, and a counter with lots of jars, with strange things in them, including scary metal things. I hid again, whimpering some. I large paw rubbed my back, soothingly. Soon the door opened again, I heard the man talk again. "Hello Dr. This is the boy I found on the street." A pat on me. A nice sounding male voice answered. "Was he injured?" "No, I don't think so. But he hasnt stopped crying since, it might be hes real young." "Can I see him?" "Sure, i geuss" I jumped a little as part of the blanket was pulled aside, a pale, brown mountian lion looked down at me. He was wearing a docters white coat, and held a clipboard. "Hello there. My name is Dr. Jacob, we're just gonna do a check over, see if your ok. Can you speak?" I could understand what he was saying, but i couldnt figure out how to respond, so i shook my head. He nodded and pulled a stool up to the bed. "Now, id like you to take off the blanket, but if your not comfortable with it, we can find you a robe." He looked up at the other man. For the first time I looked at the one who got me off the street. A tall brown horse looked at me concerened, his eyes were deep brown, caring. He wore a jacket, and pale pants, with a basball cap showing the Stallions. I carefully pushed the blanket away, exposing my young naked body. The couger looked over my body, had me breath deeply, listening to my heart. He taps my knee, making me giggle as it moves. He looks at my paws, and my feet, writing somethings down. When he looks over my back he frowns slightly. "What has happened to him sense you got him?" he asks the horse. "Nothing, he was in the back, crying and whimpering." He has the horse look at my back, he touches my back, I flinch at the pain. He quickly doesnt touch me again. "Hes back is scratched up, and from the amount of pain from my touch, hes lucky its not broken. We'll have to do an X-ray to see whats what." He has me turn back around so im facing him. "Now dont be frieghtened, Im just checking" He moves my paw, which I notice was covering my crotch. He looks me over. Then the insides of my legs, my rump, the base of my tail, he strecthes out my tail to see the entire thing. He looks in my muzzle, then my eyes, then my ears. It tickles when he rubs them. "Besides his back, he looks fine. Would you like a chocolate bar?" He holds up a bar for me to take. I nod and take it carefully, slicing open the wrapper with my claws. I take a bite, then spit it out. Frowning at it, I give it back. "Hmm, doesnt like chocolate. Well Mr. Klin, you have yourself a orphane healthy wolf. Id go too the police next, see what to do with him. Goodbye young wolf" He grins down at me as he walks out, closing the door behind him. I look up at the horse, who is looking at me. We stare at eachother for awhile. Mr Klin. I think. Big brown horse, Mr. Klin. Soon he walks over and picks me up, I grab the blanket and wrap up in it. As we walk out, I see that the lady was also a couger, pretty and kind looking. She smiles at me. We get back to the car, this time he sets me in the passenger seat. And we drive off again. I watched him more then the outside. Not having memory before this, he almost seemed like family. Even though we had known eachother for less then an hour. The thoughts I had, so many, so strange to me. I didnt know what to do, I wanted to play, this was boring. I wanted a room, a bed, a friend. Soon we pulled up to an apartment building. He turned to me, "Ill take you to the police tommorow, ok?" I nodded in response. He got out and got me, carrying me in. Once in his apartment, he put me down. It took a moment for me to get used to walking, but soon I was exploring the house. The place was slightly crowded, a couch and chair sat in the livingroom, in front of a T.V. The kitchen was to the side, mostly tiled or counter top. A big fridge stood next to a sink, stove and oven came next. A hallway off to the right led to a bathroom, and one bedroom. I went through, touching everything, everything seeming so strange. Finally after touching and looking, i crawled up onto the couch. He had stood and watched me, but now came over and sat next to me. "Hi, my name is Tum Klin." He held out a large hand to me, I took it with two paws, still not able to cover the hand, and sqeezed a little. He smiled and shook hands with me. "Do you know how you got to the street? What happened?" I shook my head, not able to understand all the words, but understood what he wanted to know. "Well, I think your gonna be staying with me for a little while. So your gonna learn some rules." I frown at him, not liking the sound of this. "First, try not to make messes. And thats about it." I try and speak, but all that comes out is a grunt, so i nod. He talked to me a little more, about himself. He was a clerk at a grocery store, not the greatest job. He didnt have family, and no wife or girlfriend. He kept talking, but I fell asleep, sliding over and plopping down. He noticed and got up softly, covering me up with the blanket. He walked soflty to his bedroom, turning off the main light, and closed the door, surronding me in darkness. My eyes shot open, I nearly screamed, but just got up running to his door. I knelt down and scratched at it, tears watering my eyes. He opened it quickly, wondering what was the matter. When he did, I fell in, sprawled on the floor, next to his feet. I reached out and clunched one of them tightly. When i felt soft hands on my waist, I relaxed my grip. He lifted me up and held me in his hands. "Afraid of the dark?" I looked back at the blackness, shivering, I nodded. He smiled, "Its ok, you can sleep in here. But i think it might be a good idea if you get clean. Who knows how long you were on the ground." He walked me over to the bathroom, opening the door. He went in and turned on the bath, filling it lowly with mild water. It was now that I noticed he was naked. He stood there bare, his long tail covering his rump, and turned so his front was hid. I didnt mind, as I was naked too, and I felt there was no problem. He set me in the water carefully, it came up to abbove my tail when i sat down. I splashed around a little, getting all wet again, but not cold. He washes my back, and my chest, my legs, and paws, my face, and my arms. He lets me get between my legs, with his direction, since i still wanted to splash. Once done, I got out and he dried me, my fur stuck out everywhere. He got me one of his big shirts, it covered me completly. We walked to the kitchen. He made me a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, cut into little peices. I ate them, and they didnt fill me. He made 2 more, and I ate them too, still not full. He gave up after 5 sandwichs. We sat on his bed a little, just sitting. I wanted to play but i did not know what to do. He sat there, studing me for a little. He got a blanket and pillow, making a bed on the floor. He got in his big med and covered himself. After a while he began to snore. I sat on my bed looking around. This was all very strange. I couldnt remember a thing until Tum came and picked me up. The rain seemed to still be pouring on me as i sat in his apartment. I gently touched my back, and nearly yelped from the pain. I stood up, my head barely above his bed. I looked over him, he was so big compared to me. I didnt want to sleep on the floor, all alone. So I crawled up and moved over to him. He was on his side, bending. I got in to where he surronded me mostly. Then curled up and went to sleep. Running, must run. The rooftop flew by, speeding by so fast. I was flying, not running. My legs weren't moving. Chimneys passed by on the side, windows on the other. More and more, the roof going on forever. I looked at myself, but it wasnt me. My legs, body, arms, everything was longer, bigger. I was bigger. My paws were huge. My muzzle was huge. I was huge. This couldnt be real, none of it could be real. A chimney came hurtling at me. I dodged it but it clipped my hind paw, sending me spinning. Next thing was i was falling, hitting a roof and bouncing. The ground came up to meet me, as i slammed into it. Cracks went up my spine. My left leg felt funny, then prickly, then nothing. It began to rain, pounding down on me. I couldnt get up, it hurt to much. So sleepy. Close my eyes for just a moment. I jump as I feel a hand on me, shaking me. Mr. Klin is looking down at me. "Youve gota wake up sometime, sleepy head." He chuckles and puts on his shirt. He had already put on his pants and a belt. He looked like a normal guy, getting up in the morning. I got up, still with his big shirt, and looked around. There was nothing my size. He tossed me a pair of tight shorts, they were baggy, but I held them up with my paws. We got ready, and he grabbed his keys. We walked out, and got in his car. The rain had stopped at some point, and now the city looked almost cheerful. People bussled about on the daily routines. First stop, we went to a mall area. Going through and finding a little kids store, we went in hand in hand. I got a few pairs of clothes, and put some on. Handing back the clothes to Tum, and walking with him back to the car. I looked at my clothes. I had picked them out myself, and the store helpers were a bit surprised at what i picked. I Had gotten a pair of slip on shoes, black and leather. My pants were a pale brown and very baggy, held up by a "snake" skin belt. My shirt was made up of 2 shirts. One was a very nice white dress shirt, bottoned up, underneith an open black dress shirt. I had even gotten a black beret hat. One of the helpers had said I was so cute and handsome, if I were alot older, shed ask me out. I didnt understand, but smiled at her. Next stop was a Jack In The Box. We each got 3 breakfast jacks, and i got an orange juice. I finished mine before he did, but that coulda been becuese he was driving. Then it was time. The police station grew nearer as we headed for it. He said not to worry, but it still scared me a little. We got out and he lead me to the door. Inside, it was busy, furs in uniform walking around, doing paperwork, sometimes pulling someone behind them. In front was a desk that had a lion, and a bear sitting and talking. We walked up to them and Tum got there attention. "Excuse me. Where would I go if I found a lost kid?" He asked very politly Both furs looked up, and both stood up. The Bear looked down at me, "Well, right here I guess. You say you found a child on the street?" Tum picked me up and put me on the desk. "This boy actually. Found him in an alley. Got him checked out by a docter, had him sleep at my place sense it was so late. Today, I got him some clothes, some food, then brought him here. I dont know what to do with him." Both cops looked me over, "Oh, and he cant speak, bu he seems to understand alot though." They both nod. The bear again, "Why were you in the alley son?" I shrugged, and looked around. "Wheres your parents?" Shrugging again. "Do you remember before you were in the alley?" I shake my head. I stand up on the desk, only coming up to the bears chest still. I then noticed how short I was. I turned and pointed at my back, then made a face to show pain. Tum nodded and pulled out a paper, one that the docter had slipped him while i wasnt looking. He handed the note to the cops. "Back pain, and his left leg has some nerve problems. Other then that hes fine." Tum patted me on the shoulder. Both cops looked at eachother, frowning some. This time it was the lion that spoke, "Sir, would you come with me. We have something to discuss" The lion and Mr. Klin, went over into a office, closing the door so I couldnt hear. The bear meanwhile distracted me by giving me a fake badge, and a cop hat. "Hey hey, you look pretty good." He picked me up and set me on a higher counter top, so i was eye level with him. He looked over at the office, "Now son, this isnt gonna be easy for you, but youll be ok" He kept talking about things, but I didnt listen. I had looked at the office to, and I couldnt look away. Tum was crying. The lion was patting him on the back while he sobbed in a chair. What was wrong? I wondered. Why was he crying, and what would happen to me. Nothing was going right, that much I assumed. But Tum was crying, and I didnt know why. I almost didnt want to know. I jumped as thunder crashed outside. It had begun to rain again, and now there was lightning to. I pulled my tail forwards and hugged it. Fear. The other night was coming back. The bear leaned forward and held me a little. I thought as i sat there, shivering. My left leg? And my back? The two areas that got hurt in my dream. Could it have been a memory? No, I was grown up in it, and flying. How could I be flying. It must have been a dream. Thunder crashed again, this time I didnt jump though. The office opened and Tum and the lion came out. Tum had wiped away hes tears, but still looked sad. He walked up and looked me in the eyes. "Well, turns out, that you will be going to an orphanage. Only way to keep you, is to adopt, and I just cant do it. Dont be worried though, it will all be fine. We had some fun didnt we?" I looked at him, I couldnt even get myself to respond. Orphanage? Tum wasnt keeping me? Tears slowly filled my eyes. This isnt good, not at all. "Dont cry, it will be ok. Some one will adopt you, I know it. Come on" He hugged me, and I couldnt stop sobbing. He held me close, then let go and took a step back. He waved goodbye to me, and turned and went out. Crying. That was the last time I ever saw Tum Klin. The first person I ever knew. The first person I liked. The rain had started to pound on the street outside. And I cried, hard, howling at nothing, making everyone in the department look over. I kept crying for most of the day. Near the end, I was givin the clothes Tum had bought, a toothbrush, some other essentials. And put on a big bus. The driver said he would be taking me to the orphanage, and that it would be a while. I took a far back seat in the empty bus. I watched as the city went by again, in the rain. I cried myself to sleep on the bus. Dreaming of Tum, and what it would have been like if he could have kept me. * * *
