Wow, its been a while. Going through a bad writer's block along with other things but I'm back into the race with a fan ficiton of my favorite game Shadow of the Colossus. If you haven't played I'm not going to spoil anything for you. I used colossus number 5, 9, 10, 11, 14, and the last one number 16. Enjoy.

"Jelanda? Jelanda where are you?"

"Over here mother."

The female husky turned the corner inside the garden to see her daughter by the pond. She had rusty red fur covering her back and tail while snow white fur covered her chest and ear. Turquoise colored eyes watched the small fish nibble the food she placed on top of the water.

"You always liked this place even as a child," her mother said having a seat on the stone bench.

Her mother was the same as her daughter but with red and brown fur and beautiful opal eyes. They both had on simple clothes that still made them look like royalty.

'Yeah. I really love this spot. It's where I come to unwind and think." Jelanda said stretching into the light breeze that rustled her silver hair.

Jelanda turned to her mother who smiled at her.

"When is daddy coming home?"

"I don't know Jelanda."

"I hate this war. It always takes daddy away."

"I know that dear. He doesn't like it either, but as king, he has a duty to fulfill to his people."

Jelanda let out a sigh before her ears perked up at the sound of her name.

"Jelanda!!"

She turned to see her younger brother running up and hugging her.

"Hey Jacob. You just get out of school?"

"Uh huh," he said. His black tail wagging non stop. "Are you going to play with me today?"

"Of course. Hop on, I'll carry you back inside."

"Yay!" Jacob cheered climbing onto Jelanda's back as they walked inside.

The mother watched as a dolphin in all gold armor walked up to her.

"Forgive me for being late your majesty. The young prince is a handful."

"It's okay Orson. He's still young, like you were."

Orson blushed a little making her chuckle.

"How are defenses around the city?"

"I have knights placed at every place I think are vulnerable."

"No wonder my husband considers you his high knight."

"I am honored for the compliment your majesty." Orson said with a bow.

"And so modesty too. I'm surprised you're not married. If I was single, I would throw myself at you."

Orson went red all over as a skunk maid walked out.

"Luncheon is served your majesty." she said with a bow.

"Thank you Dana. Joining me captain?"

"It would be an honor you majesty."

********

Silver eyes looked at the map scanning it. A fox walked into the tent wearing silver and gold armor and went to a kneel.

"Your majesty, the enemy camp is in sight."

"How many?"

"About hundred strong, but we can crush them easily."

The midnight black wolf whose silver eyes looked at the fox nodded his head.

"Very well. We will crush them like the vermin they are. Is everybody ready to finish this?"

"Just waiting for your word sire."

The wolf gave a grin as he picked up his sword and walked out the tent. Outside were all his trusty knights lined up. He hopped up on a tree stump as he looked at them one by one before speaking.

"Today, we will wipe of the bat vermin here and now. No more will our children be scared to sleep at night. No more will our crops be spoiled by their tainted hands. And no more will our women by raped in their own homes."

All the knights seemed to let out a growl at that.

"We have driven them back time after time and now have finally thinned their herd enough to be crushed. And crush them we will."

All the knights cheered as the wolf held his hand up as they quieted down.

"Be there any man who does not want to protect their homes and families, let them leave now and forever be banished by his fellow knights and people."

Nobody moved as the wolf smiled.

"Excellent."

He pulled out his sword and held into the air.

"Onward to victory."

All the knights let out a yell and charged down the hill they were at towards the camp site where several small towers of smoke could be seen coming from the camp fire. Hundreds of knights with swords and shields in hand charged down like a stampede. A sentry look out spotted the stampeding knights.

"We're under attack. The enemy is coming," he shouted.

All the tents flaps opened as bats emerged, weapons in hands. A huge white bat in the back looked at the oncoming herd.

"Confound it. I didn't think they would find us so fast."

"What do we do sir? We will be wiped out with the numbers we have." a grey bat said.

The white bat traced a claw on the scar going across his right eye.

"We may be wiped out yes, but in the end we will be the victors."

"I don't understand."

"You don't need to understand," he said with a smile before walking up to his small army.

They looked at him as he showed no kind of emotion in his eyes.

"Today may be our last days on this earth. But as the gods in the sky as my witness, we will take as many of these bastards knights with us."

They let out a roar holding their swords high. He pulled out two jagged edged swords from his side and walked to the front before looking at them.

"Death to the knights." he shouted. "Attack."

They let out a yell as they charged to meet the knights head on. As the armies drew closer, the earth shook a little causing little rubbles and stones to jump and move around. The setting sun casted it red and orange glow on the earth as both armies collided with the sound of metal on metal.

Much blood was shed as the sounds of howls, grunts, and clash of metal was echoed all around. The white bat cut his way easily through the knights as his jagged swords ripped the armor taking off limbs and leaving them to bleed to death. His fur was soaked in his enemy's blood until he came to the middle of the chaos to see the black wolf.

"Caim," the bat said.

Caim pulled his sword out from the chest of a silver bat to see the white bat.

"Jago," Caim growled.

They closed the gap slowly and circled each other.

"I never thought you would find me so quickly.' Jago said, his swords dripping blood.

"I never give up the hunt until the game is dead." Caim said.

"You think killing me will solve anything?"

"It'll help my people sleep at night knowing the things that haunt them at night are dead."

"If you believe that then you are a fool. But enough talk, have at you."

Caim let out a growl and charged Jago who smiled evilly as they exchanged swing for swing. Jago came down with a strong overhead swing as Caim brought his shield up to block it. He came down with such strength that it cracked the shield in half as part of Jago's sword cut Caim's shoulder. He brought his sword up and licked the blood off.

"Very nice. Your blood is true royalty. Very sweet, just like a young virgin." Jago said showing his blood coated teeth.

Caim tossed his shield down and growled angrily.

"Your death will be painful and long."

Caim gripped his broadsword with both hands and charged. Each swing had power behind it as tiny sparks could be seen with each block Jago did. Jago was a little surprised at the strength of each swing that pushed him back a couple of steps. He crossed his swords over his head in an x pattern as Caim came down with an over head swing which brought Jago to one knee.

"Impressive strength Caim."

"Rage can be a great helper to strength." Caim said bearing down more.

"You haven't begun to see true rage."

With a yell, he pushed Caim back following quickly with a straight kick to the chest knocking him to the ground. Caim managed to recovery quickly as he rolled to avoid getting beheaded. He got to one before bringing his sword up to block the 2 swords coming down on him. Caim grunted as he felt the burning sensation from the wound in his shoulder as he begun to lose ground.

"This Caim is true rage." Jago said. "And when I kill you, I'll make sure to take pleasure in raping but your wife and daughter before slowly slashing their throats."

An inner fire lit inside Caim as he let out a yell of anger. He pushed Jago off and with a quick swing while Jago was stunned for a second, cut off his left arm making Jago yell in pain.

"DIE," Caim growled driving his sword into his chest all the way.

Blood came out of Jago's mouth as he dropped his other sword and grabbed onto the blade.

"Hahaha," Jago laughed weakly.

"What's so funny?" Caim growled.

"Even though.....you may kill me......I will still.......have the last.......laugh."

"What are you talking about?"

Jago just laughed before more blood came out his mouth as he slumped forward dead. Caim pushed him off his sword as Jago dropped to the ground. What was left of his small army started to run away seeing their leader fall.

"Kill them all. Don't let any of them escape." Caim yelled.

The knights let out a yell of victory as some of the knights went after the runners.

********

The human let out a grunt as he dropped the body of the elk into the well as it landed with a splat as the well was dry.

"Phase one done. Now for phase two."

He grabbed the clothes he stripped the elk of and put them on. They were a little tight but he had to make due. Slipping inside the castle, he made his way into the kitchen with the help of the sketch a spy made.

"I'm here to bring her majesty her nightly tea." he said.

"Ah yes, it's over there," Dana said with her back turned washing dishes pointing to the silver tray with a teapot and cups.

He took the tray and walked out the kitchen and headed upstairs. He kept his head down as his red hair covered his face. People gave him stares but thought nothing of him as they continued doing what they were doing. He walked down the hallway lined with pictures of the royal family and suits of armor to the queen's room as Orson and a yote stood guard.

"I've came with Queen Amelia's nightly tea." he said, head still down.

"Where is Opie? He usually brings the queen's tea?" Orson said looking at him.

"He got called away. Family emergency."

"I see." Orson said looking at the yote who shrugged his shoulders. "Very well, proceed."

"Thank you."

Orson opened the door as the human proceeded inside. Amelia was sitting on a chair next to a mirror that was standing on a dresser combing Jacob's hair.

"My goodness Jacob, how did you get your hair in such a mess?" she said hearing him whimper as the comb untangled the knots.

"I hate having my hair combed."

"Well you have to. You look handsome like your father with your hair fixed decent."

"Your majesty, I have brought your nightly tea."

"Hurray tea," Jacob said before Amelia grabbed his tail.

"No you don't. I'm not done yet."

"Ahhh mom." Jacob whimpered.

The human placed the tea down on the table and poured two cups.

"Sugar your majesty?"

"Yes two. How many you want Jacob?"

"Three," he said before letting out a yelp at a tight knot.

The human pulled out a vial of black liquid and placed it into both cups before adding the sugar and stirring it. Jacob ran over and grabbed his cup before jumping onto the large bed with silk sheets and started to drink away.

"Your tea majesty," the human said handing her the cup.

"Thank you. Where's Opie?"

"He was called away back home. I'm subbing for him today."

"I see," she said taking a sip.

"Will there be anything else?"

"No that'll be all."

"Of course your majesty." he said with a bow and left.

He left the room as he passed Jelanda who looked at him curiously before walking to the room.

"Who was that?"

"Somebody taking over for Opie tonight princess." Orson said.

"I see," she said walking inside.

Jacob let out a yip of joy as he finished his tea and hopped off the bed to get some more.

"You started drinking without me?" Jelanda said with her arms crossed.

"Sorry. Dana's tea is really good." he said pouring another.

He poured the cup halfway before he felt sick as he dropped the kettle and fell to the floor.

"Jacob? Jacob's what's wrong?" Jelanda said running up.

He didn't respond as he began panting hard and sweating profusely. Jelanda heard a cup shattered as she turned to see Amelia on the floor.

"Mom? Mom?" she panicked. "Orson. Orson help me."

Orson and the yote rushed in hands on their swords.

"What's wrong princess?" Orson said.

"Its mom and Jacob. They just fell to the floor."

Orson knelt down to Amelia who was breathing irregular.

"Your majesty are you okay? Who did this?"

"T.....tea," she managed to say weakly before passing out.

"Tea? I knew it. That guy was an imposter. Jinn, tell the guards to block all exits out of the castle and find him. Also tell the chemist to come up here quickly."

"Yes sir." Jinn said and hurried out.

"Dammit, I got careless. Princess, help your brother into the bed. I'll get her majesty." Orson said lifting Amelia up.

Orson laid the queen down as she opened her eyes slightly.

"It........hurts...." she said softly.

"Hang in there you majesty." Orson said.

A knock was heard as a badger walked in.

"You called Captain Orson?"

"The queen and the young prince have been poisoned. Examine them."

"At once."

The badger walked over and began to examine Amelia as Orson waited outside. A human walked up and saluted.

"We captured the spy captain."

"Where is he?"

"We have him surrounded in the palace courtyard. For some reason he didn't put up much of a fight."

"Very well. Go inform his majesty and make haste."

"Yes captain."

********

Caim watched as his knights piled the bodies of the bats in a big heap surrounded by wood.

"Is that all of them?" he asked.

"Yes your majesty."

"Good. Light them up."

A torch was lit before it was tossed onto the dry wood. The wood caught fire quickly as Caim watched on. He looked at Jago's face before it was engulfed by the blaze as it lit the night sky. Satisfied that it was all over, he walked to where the injured were being taken care of. He knelt down next to a cheetah who had a gash on his chest.

"How are you feeling?"

"A little beat up, but it'll take more then this to put me down your majesty." he said with a smile.

"Good. You've all made me proud."

He stood up and grunted a little at the pain in his shoulder. Walking under a tree, he saw his knights cheering as the blaze grew higher.

"Your Majesty!!" a voice shouted.

Caim turned to see a human ride up to him.

"Adam, have you come to join the celebration?"

"You're needed back at the palace."

"What for? Is Jacob being a pain again?" he said with a chuckle.

"Worse. Her majesty the queen and the young prince have been poisoned."

"What?" he said shocked. "Are they alright?"

"The royal chemist awaits your return. Here take my horse." Adam said getting off.

Caim mounted quickly and turned the horse around before speaking to Adam.

"Have the knight's return when they are ready and help the injured."

"Yes your majesty." Adam said bowing.

********

"I'll ask you again, who sent you?" Orson said angrily grabbing the collar of the human.

The human just looked at him with a smile and said nothing. Orson gave a grunt and tossed him onto the ground. The human let out a chuckle as he struggled to get to his knees as both his hands were bound behind his back.

"Don't let him out of your sight. I'm going to check on the queen." he said to the guards as he left.

He walked out the holding cells and headed upstairs to the queen's room. He opened the door after knocking and walked in. Jelanda was by her mother's side as her cheeks were damp with tears. Orson walked to the badger that was mixing herbs in a wooden bowl.

"How is the queen?"

"I don't know. Whatever poison this person used has her completely immobile. She can hardly breathe let alone speak."

"Is there anything you can do?"

"Until I know what that person used, the best thing I can do is lower their fever."

The sound of running caught everybody's attention as the footsteps got closer. The door flew open as Caim stood there panting hard.

"Daddy!!" Jelanda cried and ran into his arms as he held her tight.

"Jelanda! Oh thank the gods you're okay."

"Its mom. She won't answer me and is breathing weird."

Caim let her go as he took off his body armor ignoring the gash in his shoulder exposing his chest. He walked over and knelt down besides the bed and gently took Amelia's hand.

"Amelia? Amelia darling, please answer me," he said kissing her paw.

She didn't respond as he folded his ear on his head.

"C.....Caim?"

His ears perked up as he stood up and look at her.

"Amelia?"

Her eyes opened just a crack as she saw his face. A weak smile grew on her muzzle before her eyes closed again. Caim gave both her and his son a kiss on the forehead. The chemist came over and applied some medicine under their noses.

"What is that you're are giving them Caesar?" Caim asked.

"I'm giving them something to help with their fever your majesty."

"Do you know what poison is in their bodies?"

"That I do not your majesty. I've never seen this kind before. The only person who might know is the person who gave them the poison."

Caim turned to Orson who stood ready.

"Tell me you have the person or persons responsible for this?" he said in a low growl.

"I do your hinas. He's in the prison cell."

Caim didn't hesitate as he took off out the door followed by Orson to the prison cells. The guards saluted Caim who didn't react instead walked over and struck the man with a hard left.

"What did you give my wife and son?" he snarled.

The man chuckled and sat up looking at Caim.

"I'm a little deaf in one ear. Can you speak up?" he smiled.

Caim growled angrily and kicked him in the face. He heard laughter as the man spat out a tooth.

"What did you give them? I will not repeat myself."

"Chimera's blood," the man said sitting up again. Blood running out of his mouth and nose.

"Chimera's blood?" Caim said confused.

"Normally a straight dose will kill person but my master wants them to suffer so I diluted it."

"Who's you're master?"

"You have until the next full moon to find a cure and during that time you can watch them suffer."

"What is the cure? Tell me."

"If I did that, it wouldn't be fun."

Caim shook in rage as the human just smiled, blood coating his teeth.

"But I will say one last thing for my master. And I quote, I told you I would have the last laugh."

Caim eyes went wide as it was the exact same thing Jago said. The man looked at Caim before he started laughing hard. That same laugh Jago did before he died. Caim shook in anger before grabbing Orson's sword and taking off the man's head with a strong swing. The head rolled to the wall as the smile stuck on the face.

"Damn you Jago." Caim snarled.

"What did he mean by that your majesty?" Orson asked.

"It was the last thing Jago said before I killed him. Now I see what he meant. So in the end, he did win."

Caim held his head down as a single tear went down his cheek. Orson walked over to him and gently touched his shoulder.

"Caim, I served under you for seven years. Until today I have yet to see you admit defeat so easily. Don't give up on Amelia and Jacob. Caesar will find the cure, have faith."

Caim let out a quiet sniffle before looking at Orson with a smile.

"Now I see why I made you my head knight Orson."

"Just doing my job your majesty." Orson said with a bow.

"And a fine job at that." Caim said handing Orson back his sword. "Lets us go see Ceasar."

They headed back upstairs where Caesar was still mixing herbs.

"Your majesty, did you find out what the person gave them?"

"Something called Chimera's blood."

Caesar looked shocked as he dropped the bowl he was holding.

"Ch....chimera's blood?" he said going pale.

"What is it? What's wrong?" Caim said nervous.

"That's one of the most deadliest poison in the land. Even a thimble full could kill ten men."

"He said he diluted it so they suffer while I watched."

"Dear god."

Caesar began to pace back and forth running his hands over his short blond hair.

"Is there a cure?" Orson asked.

"I don't know. No cure was ever been discovered because the person dies too quickly from it. How long did he say they have?"

"Until the next full moon." Caim said.

"That's fourteen days from now." Caesar said looking out the window into the night sky.

"Isn't there anything you can do?" Caim said almost in tears.

Caesar paced faster, his knowledge of poison flying through his head.

"The only thing I can do your majesty is look through the books for an answer."

"Please do what you can."

"Of course your majesty." Caesar said and hurried to his lab.

Caim pulled a chair up next to the bed and held Amelia's hand. Her hand twitched a little but did nothing else. Orson walked over quietly.

"Please your majesty, try and get some rest for their sake and yours."

"Thank you Orson." Caim said with a nod. "But I can't rest until I know there's a cure to be found."

"I understand. If you need anything, I'll be right outside."

Orson walked to the door and opened it before walking out and closing it quietly behind him.

********

Jelanda knocked on the door before opening it to see Caesar tossing books around.

"Caesar, do you know what's wrong with my mother and Jacob?"

"They have been poisoned with Chimera's blood princess." he said flipping through a book before tossing it.

"Is there a cure?"

"I'm looking for it now but since people die so quickly from it, I don't think anybody's recorded a cure."

He heard a sniffle and turned to see Jelanda crying. He walked over held her hands.

"I promise you princess, I will not rest till I find a cure."

"Thank you Caesar." she said with a smile. "Is there anything I can do to help?"

"If you want, you can look through the books over there," he said pointing to a bookcase near the window.

They looked through book after book well into the bight but came up empty. Jelanda let out a yawn and looked to see Caesar's head going up and down as he tried to stay awake. She grabbed another book from the bookcase with its green cover coated in dust and flipped through the pages. Turning the next page, she saw the listing for chimera's blood with a picture of the three headed beast.

"I've found it." she said quietly and began to read. "Blood taken from the legendary mystical beast and used in demonic rituals. It's said the blood's so poisonous it can kill anybody with just a couple of drops. The only known cure was found by an adventure deep within the Valley of Sorrows called the Twilight Blossom."

She looked at the bottom of the page to see a rough sketch of the flower. It looked like a sunflower but was pitch black with a green stem.

"Twilight Blossom in the Valley of Sorrows. Now I know where to go. I have to help my mom and Jacob."

She got up quietly and placed the book next to Caesar who was out cold, his face in a book. Once she did that, she hurried to her room and began to change clothes. She put on a pair of beige pants and a vest making her look like a traveler. Reaching under the bed, she pulled out her bow she uses for archery along with a quiver of arrows.

"I can't go out the front. They'll stop me. Better to go out the window."

She stripped the bed of the sheets and covers and began to tie them together. A knock was heard at the door as Dana walked in and saw her.

"Princess, what are you doing?"

"I'm going to save my mother," Jelanda said continuing to tie knots.

"But you don't even know how to cure the poison or where to go."

"Yes I do. I read a book in Caesar lab that explains where to go and what to get."

"The king's going to be worried to death. Let the knights handle this."

"By the time the knights get assembled, I could be almost halfway there." Jelanda replied tossing the makeshift rope out the window and tying the end to the bed.

Dana looked uneasy as Jelanda walked over and held her hands.

"Dana, I need you to promise me you won't tell anybody until I'm far enough away."

"Princess......"

"Please Dana." Jelanda whined.

Dana looked into her eyes before sighing.

"I promise princess."

"Thank you Dana," she said hugging her.

"Please be safe."

"I promise."

Jelanda turned and took a hold of the make shift rope and climbed down the window. It lead to the courtyard as she ducked quickly behind some bushes. Looking back, she saw the rope be pulled up as Dana covered her steps. Carefully avoiding the guards, she made it to the stable and opened the door. Walking towards her horse cause to make a ruckus before calmed it down petting his side and neck. Taking the harness, she led him out into the darkness and down the dark alley again avoiding the guards till she got to the city exit. Hoping on, she looked back at the castle.

"Hang on mom and Jacob. I'll get that flower for you."

With a couple of clicks of her heels, the horse took off into the night. She headed into the forest, not knowing if she was going the right way. Instead, she let her instincts guide her as the horse nimbly dodged trees and holes. After traveling a good distance, the horse stopped at a deep ravine. Her eyes scanned the darkness for a way across as she found a wooden bridge.

"Come on boy," she said as they trotted over.

Hopping off, she examined the bridge as it creaked dangerously.

"I hope it holds." she said swallowing hard.

Taking a step, the board creaked in response. She trembled slightly before remembering what she was doing. Gritting her teeth, she carefully made her way across, each board moaning its discomfort. A strong gush of wind from below whizzed past her making her whine as the bridge shook.

"Come on Jelanda, you can do it."

Steadying herself, she began again before a board broke taking her left down. She let out a yelp before quickly grabbing the rope and pulling her leg free. Looking down, she saw nothing but darkness as the faint sound of water could be heard.

"Too close."

Her eyes scanned the darkness as she saw the other side making her smile. She was going to make it. Another blast of wind, this time stronger, rushed angrily by her shaking the bridge. A snap was heard as the rope on the right side broke off from the heavy wind. She quickly grabbed the rope as she dangled over the ravine.

"Oh god, oh god," she whined holding on tight.

Using what strength she had, she inched her way ever so carefully to the other side. Her ears perked up at a ripping sound. Looking at the side to the cliff, the rope around the post started to rip. Panicking, she hurried over causing the rope to rip more before it gave way. She let out a yell of horror before begin swallowed by the darkness.

********

Morning came quickly as Caesar woke up, the side of his face stuck on a book.

"Damn, I must've fallen asleep." he said panicking.

He looked to his right to see the book Jelanda left for him with the picture of the flower.

"She found it and must've went to bed. I better tell his majesty."

Grabbing the book, he rushed out the room and up the stairs to the king's room where he knocked on the door.'

"Enter." Caim said.

Caesar walked in to see Caim standing by the window looking at the morning sun.

"Your majesty, I've found the cure."

"You have?" Caim said turning to him. "What is it?"

"A flower called Twilight Blossom in the Valley of Sorrows."

"Valley of Sorrows? I never heard of such of place."

"I'll look for it on the map at once."

"Call Orson in here for me."

"Of course your majesty." Caesar said with a bow before leaving.

After a few minutes a knock was heard as Orson walked in.

"You called your majesty?"

"Yes. Caesar has found the cure."

"That's wonderful news." Orson said with a smile.

"It's in a place called the Valley of Sorrows. Have you ever heard of it?"

Orson folded his arms before rubbing his chin.

"Can't say that I have your majesty."

"I see."

Caesar came back in with a map of the land as he placed it on the dresser.

"I think I found it your majesty."

Caim and Orson walked over as he pointed to a clump of mountains north of the kingdom.

"I believe this is the Valley of Sorrows because it's the last place that the adventurer was seen before he passed his knowledge to the person who traveled with him."

"Okay, we'll start there. Orson, gather fifteen of your best men to travel to this Valley of Sorrows."

"It shall be done." Orson said with a bow and left.

Caim felt a rush of relief for once as he left the room to tell Jelanda the good news.

"Jelanda? Jelanda are you in there?" Caim said knocking on her door.

He opened the door to see her room already clean which was strange at this time of day. Dana walked up with a tray of water and a cloth.

"Dana, have you seen Jelanda?"

Dana looked at Caim as her eyes held fear and shame.

"Dana, what's wrong?"

"I'm sorry your majesty. I have failed you."

"What are you talking about?"

"The princess went to find the cure by herself. I tried to stop her but she wouldn't listen."

"She what!!?" he barked making Dana drop the tray as she went to her knees crying.

"I'm sorry your majesty. Please forgive me. I'll accept any punishment you have for me."

Caim knelt down and lifted her face.

"I'm not going to punish you Dana. I thank you for telling me and trying to stop her. When did she leave?"

"Late last night," she said with a sniffle wiping away a tear.

"Thank you Dana. Here, clean up this mess and finish your chores."

"Of course your majesty."

Caim rushed down the hall towards the courtyard where he saw Orson with a small platoon of knights giving them commands.

"You have your orders knights. Travel to the Valley of Sorrows and bring back this Twilight Blossom. Time is of the essence so only rest when you need to. May the gods watch over you."

"Thank you captain." they all saluted and took off.

Orson watched them leave before he saw Caim rush up.

"What's wrong your majesty?"

"Jelanda left to find the flower herself."

"What!!?" he said shocked.

"I just heard from Dana. She left in the dead of night."

"I'm sorry your majesty. I'll have a talk to all the guards that night."

"No. I need you to take knights you trust and bring her back."

"At once your majesty." Orson said and rushed off.

********

The caribou grazed by the water's edge without a care in the world. Brown eyes watch from a distance down wind, hands gripping the bow and fixing an arrow. Taking aim, the arrow flew straight into the chest of the biggest one as it let out a startled cry causing them to scatter.

"Argo!!" a male voice shouted as a black horse galloped towards the voice.

Grabbing the reins, the person hopped on and gave chase. Fixing another arrow, he took aim and fired hitting his mark in the back rear leg causing it to fall.

"Got him," the male said as he rode closer.

Pulling out his sword, he stood up while riding and took a leap towards it. The caribou turned around only to have its throat cut by the sword and dropped to the ground.

"All right," the male said. "We'll eat good tonight."

His horse came over as he patted his neck.

"Good boy Argo. This should last a couple of days."

He reached to the side pouch pulling out some rope as he tied its legs. He was about to lift it up when something caught his eye. Looking to his left, he saw something lying on the sand.

"What is that?" he said walking over.

Getting closer, he saw it was a body of a female.

"Oh man. Hey, are you okay?" he asked rushing over.

He got no response as he felt the side of her neck to feel a weak pulse.

"She's alive. Better get her back home to recover. Argo, here boy."

Argo walked over as he placed the unconscious husky on his back. Grabbing his kill, he headed home. On the way, he couldn't help but look at her.

"Wonder what she's doing way out here?"

He reached his small village as the villagers were busy with their daily chores. Some were tending the crops while others were feeding their live stocks or bundling hay. The boy walked over to a small hut with meat hanging from hooks.

"Genbu, are you here?"

A bull walked out with a smile. He had a cane as his left leg appeared to be wrapped up.

"Ahhh, young Yuri has returned. What have you brought today?"

"Yuri smiled as he pulled the caribou up making his eyes go wide.

"You bagged a big one. I'm proud of you."

"I learned from the best."

"Indeed. If I didn't have this bad leg," he said looking down. "I would hunt for everybody myself."

Genbu looked to see the husky on the back of Argo.

"I see you hunted something else too."

"Cut it out. I found her on the beach. I'm going to bring her back to rest."

"Okay, good job out there Yuri." Genbu said grabbing the caribou.

He walked up to a medium sized hut as he let Argo into the field behind it but not before gently taking the husky into his arms.

"I'm home," he said walking inside.

"Welcome home Yuri," a female squirrel said wearing an apron and plain clothes.

"Hi mom," Yuri said placing the husky on the bed.

"I see you're bringing home more then food." the squirrel said watching Yuri cover her up.

"Ahhh mom, not you too," Yuri sighed. "I found her lying on the beach not moving. Do you know what's wrong?"

"Let's have a look."

She walked over and examined the husky slowly.

"She has a bump on her head along with a fever. No broken bones so she'll be up after a night's sleep. I need to take her wet clothes off though so you need to leave. Go and do your chores."

"Okay mom." Yuri said walking out.

********

Caim said on the bed's edge running his hand softly over Jacob's cheek. Jacob let out a whimper as he tried to speak.

"Da......ddy."

"Shh, just rest my son. I'm right here."

"Sto......mach hurts."

"I know. You'll be better soon."

He switched sides as he took Amelia's hand. Her eyes opened slowly but only a crack.

"Hang in there darling. We found the cure and should be getting you better soon."

She gave a weak smile as he kissed her hand and held it to his cheek.

"Je....landa?" she said weakly.

"She's resting herself." he said not wanting to put more strain on her.

********

Jelanda let out a moan as her eyes opened slowly.

"Ahhh, you're awake," a voice said.

She turned her head to see the squirrel looking at her with a smile. Jelanda tried to speak but her throat was dry before the squirrel gave her some water.

"Thank you." Jelanda said.

"You're quite welcomed."

"Where am I?"

"You are in the village of Forsana. My name is Robin. What is yours?"

"Jelanda."

"Well Jelanda it's nice to see you're able to remember you're name. You got a bump on your head so I thought you might have trouble remembering."

She reached up and winced a little touching the tender bump on her head.

"Where are you from Jelanda?"

"I........." she paused as her head started hurting. "I don't know."

"It's okay. I'm sure you'll remember in time. Here, eat this and recover your strength." Robin said handing her a bowl of stew.

"Thank you." Jelanda said sitting up slowly and taking the bowl.

"Mom, I gathered........." Yuri started before he saw Jelanda up. "Oh you're up. How are you feeling?"

"I'm.......fine," Jelanda said a little nervous.

"This is my son Yuri. He's the one that found you unconscious on the beach and brought you here."

"Thank you Yuri. You saved me." she said with a smile.

"No problem. I'm just glad you're okay." Yuri said with a smile.

"What did you want Yuri?" Robin asked.

"Oh yeah, I've gathered all the firewood and Genbu is ready to cook for everybody."

"Great, thanks Yuri."

Yuri nodded and left leaving the two girls alone. Jelanda went back to eating as Robin stood up.

"When you get enough strength, I left you some of my old clothes that should fit you. You can join us for dinner if you want also?"

"I would love too." Jelanda said with a smile.

"Of course. When you're finished, just place the bowl on the table. There's a bucket of water and a cloth to wash up with." Robin said exiting.

Jelanda nodded before finishing her stew and lying back down. She had to figure out what happened to her and where she was going.

********

The evening sun beamed down its rays on the earth as the forest critters began to settle in for the night. Orson let out a sigh as his horse trotted slowly along.

"I have to find the princess. I can't let Caim down."

A knight rode up as he looked at him.

"Find anything?" Orson asked.

"No captain, nothing."

"Dammit." Orson cursed. "Keep looking."

"Yes sir."

Orson got off his horse and checked the ground, hoping to find any kind of tracks.

"Captain Orson, come quick," a voice shouted.

He stood up and rushed over to see a k night holding Jelanda's horse.

"That's the princess's horse. Where did you find him?"

"Over there," he said pointing to where the collapsed bridge was.

Orson walked over and looked down the canyon.

"Do you think she fell?" the knight asked softly.

"I pray to the gods she didn't. Where does that river lead?"

"Looks like it goes past the kingdom's boundaries to the east."

"All right, gather the knights and let's head east. It's out only lead so far."

"Yes captain."

Orson looked down the canyon again as his head spun a little.

"God I hope you're okay princess."

********

The sound of laughter woke Jelanda up from her nap. She felt better and more relaxed as she sat up under the covers. Her head still hurt but not as much as she got out of bed. Looking over to her left, she saw the clothes that Robin left for her. She gave a smile before putting them on.

"A little loose but good fit."

Finding the water pail, she washed her hands and face before walking out the hut. All the villagers were around a fire laughing and talking. She felt shy before Robin saw her.

"Jelanda, over here."

She smiled as she walked over.

"How are you feeling?"

"Much better thank you."

"I see you up young one." Genbu said, a butcher's knife in his hand.

She got nervous as Genbu laughed.

"Don't worry, I don't bite. How do you feel?"

"I feel better thank you."

"Are you hungry? I have some caribou left over. And with Robin's spices, you can't go wrong."

"You don't have flatter me." Robin said with a chuckle.

"Sure, thank you very much."

"Coming right up," Genbu said returning to the caribou on the stick over the fire.

Robin took Jelanda's hand as they sat down on a log.

"So do you remember anything yet?"

"No," Jelanda said sadly.

"It's okay. I'm sure it'll come back to you."

"Where's Yuri? I want to thank him again for his help."

"He's in the meadow looking at the stars like he always does every night."

Genbu walked over with a plate of food and headed it Jelanda.

"Here you go, eat hearty."

"Thank you sir."

"Call me Genbu." he said with a smile before walking back.

Jelanda ate with a smile as the food tasted fresh and clean while talking with Robin. It wasn't long till she was joining in on the fun and laughing along with the villagers. Her ears perked up at the sound of a flute being played.

"Where's that music coming from?"

"Must be Yuri. He loves playing at night. It's a nice melody which is kind of calming to everybody."

She excused herself and went to look for the sound. Following a short trail through the forest lead her to a large meadow with a huge oak tree in the middle. She saw a shadowy figure and the source of the music. The sound was almost mesmerizing as she walked quietly towards Yuri. Yuri stopped when he heard the grass rustle behind him and looked.

"Oh, I didn't hear you there."

"I'm sorry. I didn't want to disturb you playing. That sound was beautiful. Where did you learn to play?"

"I learned by myself but the song I don't remember learning from anybody. It seems like it always been in my head."

He noticed she was still standing and made room.

"Please, have a seat."

"Thank you," she said sitting next to him.

They were both quiet as the wind blew the tall grass lightly making it wave.

"I just want to say thank you again for saving me." Jelanda said blushing before kissing his cheek.

"It was nothing really." Yuri said burning red. "Anybody would've done the same thing. Oh, how are you feeling?"

"Much better, but I still can't remember much."

"I'm sorry about that."

"It's okay."

They went silent again as Jelanda looked into the night sky.

"What a beautiful spot. And it has a wonderful view too."

"Yeah. I found this one night looking for Argo."

"Argo?" she said confused.

"My horse. I had him since he was born. We're the best of friends."

Silence again as Jelanda twiddled her thumbs.

"Umm, do you mind playing for me?"

"Sure, it would be my pleasure." Yuri said with a smile.

He brought the flute up to his mouth and started to play.

"Such a beautiful melody," Jelanda said closing her eyes and letting herself be taken over by the calming notes.

Unknowing to her, she was slowly leaning over as her head rested on his shoulders. Yuri, so caught up in his music, didn't notice as he played on.

Caim stood at the window watching the sun rise over his kingdom. He ruled over his people with a kind heart and has faced many adversaries he came across to defend his people. But nothing could compare to what he was going through now.

"Damn you Jago. I know you're laughing at me from your fiery hell but I refuse to let you win."

A knock was heard at his door as he told them to enter. Dana walked in with a bowl of water and a cloth.

"I've come to help the queen anyway I could."

"Thank you Dana."

She gave a short bow and proceeded to the bed. Dipping the cloth in the water, she squeezed it out and began to gently pat down Amelia's head. She let out a low whine before opening her eyes a crack.

"D....ana."

"How are you feeling your majesty?"

"Hard.....to breathe.....and hot."

"I'm sorry that I can't help you better." Dana said dipping the cloth again and gently washing her neck.

"Wa.....ter please."

"Of course."

Dana walked over to the dresser and poured some water as Caim walked over and held Amelia's hand.

"I'm so sorry darling. I....I let him win."

"Caim.......never......blame yourself."

"But I....."

"Your majesty, the queen's water." Dana said handing Caim the cup.

Caim lifted Amelia up gently and helped her drink some water which made her cough.

"Jelanda.......where is......she?"

Both Caim and Dana were quiet as they looked at each other.

"I'm sorry your majesty but she went in search of the cure to help you. I couldn't stop her." Dana said sadly.

Amelia said nothing as a smile appeared.

"She takes after you.......Caim."

"I know," Caim said with a smile laying her back down. "We raised her well."

"I know. Very.....strong will....just like.....her father." she said softly closing her eyes.

A single tear went down Caim face's face as Dana excused herself.

********

The rooster let out a crow signaling the start of a new day. Jelanda let out a yawn and stretched. Looking around, she found she was inside the hut.

"Good morning Jelanda." Robin said walking in.

"Good morning."

"Breakfast will be ready soon so wash up." Robin said placing a bowl of water and a fresh set of clothes next to her.

"Thank you."

Washing up, she put on the clothes Robin left for her and sat down at the table. Robin handed her a plate of eggs, fried bananas and some bread.

"Where's Yuri? He's missing out on your cooking." Jelanda chuckled.

"He finished already and is out back with his bow and arrow practicing before doing his chores."

She finished eating and excused herself before walking out the hut to the back to see Yuri taking aim at a scarecrow. Pulling back, he let it fly as it struck the dummy dead center.

"Nice shot." Jelanda said.

"Oh, good morning. Thanks, I practice everyday." Yuri said adjusting the string of the bow.

"I can tell, it shows. May I try?"

"Sure."

He handed her the bow as she tested the string before loosening it. Fixing the bow, she grabbed an arrow and set herself up. She took aim as a slight breeze passed by rustling her hair before she fired. It soared quickly in the air before hitting the dummy inches from Yuri's arrow as he whistled.

"Impressive."

"Thanks. I vaguely remember doing archery."

"Does this mean you remember something?"

She held her head and shook it.

"No. I still can't remember where I come from or where I was going."

Yuri bent down to look her in the eyes.

"Don't worry about it. I'll help you remember everything."

He gave a goofy smile making Jelanda giggle.

"Thanks Yuri."

"You're quite welcomed."

They shared a laugh when some commotion was heard at the village entrance.

"Wonder what's up?" Yuri said as he walked around to the front.

At the front of the village was a crowd gathered around some people in armor on horses.

"Please we mean no harm. All we ask is if you've seen the king's daughter." Orson said.

"We don't know anything about the king's daughter so just leave." A wolf said.

"Yeah go away. We don't need your kind here." everybody seemed to shout.

Yuri walked up to Genbu who had his arms crossed.

"What's going on?"

"Some people have come here looking for the king's daughter. But I think they are here to collect some kind of tax."

"They look shiny," Yuri said looking at their armor when Jelanda walked up.

"Who are those people?" she asked.

"Don't know," Yuri said shrugging his shoulders.

Orson closed his eyes and let out a sigh before he looked over to see Jelanda as his eyes widened.

"Princess!!" he said getting off his horse and rushing over. "Princess you're alive."

Jelanda got scared and hid behind Yuri.

"Princess?" Orson said confused.

"I.....I don't know what you're talking about." Jelanda said.

Orson looked shocked before looking at Yuri in anger.

"What have you done to the princess commoner?" he said drawing his sword and pointing it at him.

"I don't know what you're talking about," Yuri said pushing the sword out his face with no fear. "But I found this young lady not moving on the beach shore and nursed her back to health."

"You dare put your hands on the princess? I'll show no mercy."

Yuri managed to push Jelanda out the way as he avoided an oncoming attack. She fell into Genbu's arm as she looked on. Yuri pulled out his sword from his side protector and stood ready.

"A commoner like you has no right to lay their hands on royalty. Prepare to die."

Orson went on the attack and easily overpowered Yuri. During the battle, Jelanda held her head as blurry images appeared.

"What's wrong?" Genbu asked.

Jelanda didn't answer as slowly her memory came back to her.

"I.....I remember everything now," Jelanda said softly.

She looked up to see Orson with his foot on Yuri's chest.

"Prepare to die." Orson growled bringing his sword up.

"Orson stop." Jelanda yelled.

This shocked Orson but did as he was told as he walked up to her.

"Are you okay princess?"

"I'm fine." she said walking over to Yuri. "Are you okay?"

"You're the king's daughter?"

She held her down and nodded.

"At least you got your memory back now. I'm happy for you." Yuri said with a smile.

"I have you to thank for that."

"Princess are you sure you're okay?" Orson asked again.

"I said I'm fine. How did you fine me?"

"It wasn't easy." Orson said with a smile.

Robin walked over as Yuri got up and dusted himself off.

"I see you got your memory back."

"Yes, thank you for everything. Orson how is my mom and Jacob?"

"They are still in bad shape princess but they are fighters so they won't go down easy."

"What's wrong with your mom?" Yuri asked.

"Quiet commoner. How dare you...."

"Orson stop it." she said sternly. "It's a long story."

"Well let me get some tea going and you can explain everything." Robin said with a smile.

********

"So that's the situation." Jelanda said with a sigh.

"I'm so sorry to hear that." Robin said sadly. "So do you think the other knights have made it?"

"I don't know. Have you heard anything Orson?"

"No, princess. Nothing." Orson said shaking his head.

Everyone was quiet until Orson spoke up.

"Princess, I was sent out to bring you back."

"I can't go back. Not without the blossom."

"You intend to keep going?" Robin asked.

"Yes. I've come this far. I'm not turning back."

"Then at least allow yourself to leave tomorrow. I can convince the villagers to help with supplies."

"Thank you Robin." Jelanda said with a smile.

"I need to send one of the knights back to his majesty and let him know you're okay. Please excuse me." Orson said with a bow and left.

He walked out to a small barn were the rest of his knights as they were preparing for the journey back. They all saluted when Orson walked in.

"I need one of you to return to the king and tell him we've found the princess."

"I'll go," a Doberman said in the back.

"Thank you Aaron. They rest of us will accompany the princess to the Valley of Sorrows."

All the knights looked at each other confused.

"But captain, don't we have a platoon of knights headed there?" a lynx asked.

"We do. But this is something the princess is determined to do."

Orson looked at them one by one.

"I'm going because I owe it to his majesty. Those of you who do not wish to go can leave with Aaron."

"We are loyal to his majesty and you captain. We will go with you." A rabbit said.

All the knights nodded their heads.

"Thank you. Everybody get some sleep. We have a long journey ahead of us. Aaron, tell the king we will accompany the princess to the Valley of Sorrows."

"Yes captain," Aaron said mounting his horse and taking off.

********

Yuri brushed down Argo with a smile as his tail moved happily.

"Looking good as usually boy." Yuri said patting his neck.

"Is that Argo?"

Yuri looked back to see Jelanda.

"Yep, this is my buddy Argo."

Jelanda walked over as Argo nuzzled her making her giggle.

"Looks like he likes you."

Jelanda chuckled as she patted his head.

"Is this a birth mark?" she asked pointing to the white diamond shape patch of fur on his forehead.

"Yeah. Makes him look like a king. Are you ready for your big journey tomorrow?"

"I don't know. I'm scared but at the same time excited."

"Well I wish you the very best and hope you help your mom and brother."

Jelanda got quiet which Yuri noticed.

"I'm going to miss your music."

He smiled as he finished brushing Argo down.

"It was nice having you around. You made my mom happy."

"I hope when this is over, I can come see you and your mom again."

"We'll be waiting." Yuri said. "In the meantime, you should get some rest."

Jelanda walked over and gave Yuri a hug which took him by surprise but he returned it.

"Thank you for everything Yuri. Even though it was only a couple of days, I really enjoyed my time with you and your mom."

"You're quite welcomed princess. Now then, get some sleep."

She let go and gave him a smile before walking back into the hut.

********

Caim sat next to the bed. His eyes were red as he hasn't slept well in the last two days. A knock was heard as he said enter. Caesar walked in with a bowl and an assortment of bottles.

"How are you feeling your majesty?" he asked.

"I can't sleep at all. I'm afraid if I do, I'll wake up to find them gone." Caim said sadly.

"I wish there was something I could do to help your majesty but without that blossom, I can't do much."

"I know Caesar. Thank you for trying."

Another knock was heard as Aaron walked in and went to one knee.

"Your majesty."

"Yes what is it?"

"We have found Princess Jelanda."

Caim's ears perked up as he looked at him.

"You found her? Where?"

"In a village called Forsana to the far east past the kingdom's boundaries."

"Forsana? I heard of that place but never thought much of it. Where is she? Is she in her room?"

"She didn't want to come back until she had the blossom. Captain Orson and the rest of his knights are still with her."

That seemed to relax Caim a bit as he leaned back in the chair.

"I sorry I couldn't bring the princess back." Aaron said with his head down.

"It's okay. She's a strong girl. I'm sure she'll be fine. You may go. Thank you for the report."

"Of course your majesty." Aaron said with a bow.

Morning came quickly as the knights were up and preparing for their journey. Jelanda woke up with a yawn and stretched as the smell of breakfast flowed into her nose.

"Good morning Robin." she said with a smile.

"Good morning Jelanda. Did you sleep well?"

"Yes thank you."

"I managed to get the villagers to help with supplies. You should have enough food to last you at least seven days."

"I can't thank you enough for your hospitality."

A knock was heard as Orson walked in.

"Everyone is ready princess. We can leave at any time."

"Okay Orson."

Jelanda walked out to see all the knights standing by their horses. Genbu limped over on his cane with a horse and handed the reins to her.

"This is my boy Thunder. Can't ride him no more so I figured I'd give him to you."

"Thank you Genbu," she said giving him a hug along with Robin.

She hopped on and looked around.

"Where's Yuri? I want to say goodbye."

"He went for a ride with Argo." Robin said.

"Princess we should go." Orson said.

"Of course. Thank you again for everything. I'll never forget you."

"Be safe," Robin said.

Jelanda nodded her head and with a couple of soft taps with her heels, she took off followed by Orson and the knights.

********

Yuri stood at the beach shore listening to the water flow as Argo was taking a drink. He pulled out his sword and looked at it as the sun beamed down on it making it shine.

"I hope she's able to get the blossom for her family. Wish there was something I could do to help also."

He held the sword up as several blue rays shot from it at different angles.

"What is this?" he said confused.

He moved the sword as the rays came together forming a beam of light that pointed to the north west.

"Is that where the blossom is that she needs?"

Argo trotted over as he put his sword down.

"What do you think boy? Up for an adventure?"

Argo nuzzled him making Yuri laugh as he patted his neck.

"Okay, let's go tell mom."

He hopped onto his back and headed home. Stopping at his hut, he got off and walked in.

"Mom, you here?"

"Yes Yuri," Robin said walking out her room. "What's wrong?"

"I'm going to help Jelanda."

Robin looked at him before sighing.

"I had a feeling you would say that so I took the liberty of fixing you some food."

"How did you know?"

"Call it a mother's instinct. Here."

She handed him a bag full of food along with his bow and a full quiver of arrows.

"Just promise me you'll come back safely."

"Of course mom. Thanks." Yuri said hugging her tightly.

"Now go on. If you're fast enough you can catch up."

"Right."

Wrapping the bag around his shoulder along with bow and arrows, he hopped onto Argo and took off after Jelanda.

********

Jelanda took a sip of water before letting out a sigh. The evening sun was casting its last rays before the blanket of stars took its place.

"How did father take my leaving?" Jelanda asked Orson.

"He wasn't too worried seeing as you two are almost alike."

"You really think so?"

"Of course princess. I see many traits in you that I see in his majesty."

Jelanda chuckled before putting the water back.

"How long does mother and Jacob have left?" she asked softly.

"About eleven days until the next full moon. Hopefully we find the blossom before that."

"I'm sure we will. Just have to believe."

The sound of hoofs galloping caught everybody's attention as the knights stood ready with their hands on their sword handles. A shadow appeared on the horizon as it came closer. When the person came into view, Jelanda looked shocked at whom it was.

"Yuri!? she said shocked.

"Hi," he said stopping and getting off.

He walked over before Orson blocked his way, looking at him in disgust.

"Speak with respect when addressing royalty commoner."

"Please forgive my rudeness." Yuri said going to one with a bow.

"What are you doing here?" Jelanda asked.

"I've come to offer my services."

"We don't need a commoner's help. The princess has six trained knights by her side." Orson said with a huff.

"Orson stop. Please stand up Yuri."

Yuri nodded his head and stood up.

"What about your mom? Is she okay with this?"

"She kind of figured I would do this." Yuri said with a smile.

"I don't want you getting hurt because of me."

"I can handle myself princess. Besides, do you know where to go?"

"And I suppose you do commoner?" Orson said.

Yuri nodded his head and reached for his sword causing Orson to do the same.

"Easy there," Yuri said.

He drew his sword slowly and held it in the air as the evening sun beamed down on it causing the same rays to be produced. He moved it around till all the rays came together pointing to the east.

"What kind of sorcery is that?" Orson said.

"I don't know. I only discovered it this morning while taking Argo for a ride. My hunch is the blossom is in that direction." Yuri said sheathing his sword.

"How can you be sure?" Orson said. "Maybe it's just a trick."

"You have any better leads?"

Orson gave a growl as he turned to Jelanda.

"It's your call princess. We will follow you regardless of your choice."

Jelanda folded her arms and thought about it. Nobody knew exactly where they were going and this was the best lead so far.

"Let's go with it and see where it leads us. Its better then traveling blindfolded."

"Very well princess. We'll take a quick rest before heading out."

Jelanda nodded her head and retreated under a tree and sat down. Yuri took Argo to a large clump of grass as he munched on it when Orson walked over.

"I don't know what you're planning commoner, but I'll be watching you."

"Watch all you want. I'm here to help Jelanda, not you."

Orson growled and grabbed him by the collar lifting him easily.

"Never call the princess by her name scum. You don't deserve the right to. Mark my words, you make one false move and you will taste the end of my sword."

He dropped Yuri and walked over by his knights and settled down with them, his eyes locked on Yuri. Yuri let out a sigh and laid down on the grass, hands behind his head.

"Some friends we're tagging along with huh boy?"

********

The cool morning mist hovered over the grass as the wildlife scurried this way and that. The sound of galloping horses made them run for cover as the party pressed on.

"Princess, are you sure we can trust him?" Orson said riding along side Jelanda.

"Orson he saved my life. That alone is enough to gain my trust."

They stopped after coming to an opening from the forest showing a large meadow. Yuri hopped off Argo and walked forward examining the grass where it was pressed into the ground.

"Somebody came through here not to long along."

"How long ago?" Jelanda asked.

"Judging by the imprints, I'd say a day or so."

Yuri looked to the horizon and noticed a cave. Taking out his sword, he lifted it into the rising as the ray of light pointed towards the cave.

"Looks like we have to go through," he said sheathing his sword.

He hopped back on Argo before heading down the small trail into the open meadow below. They traveled inward as the cave twisted and turned until it opened up showing a massive inside. It was filled with sand covering all the ground except close to the cave wall where the edges showed dried grass. In the middle stood five stalagmites that made an x pattern in the sand. A hole in the ceiling allowed the sun to casts its rays inside making the sand give off a faint shine.

"What is this place?" Jelanda asked,

"Don't know," Yuri said.

"Captain Orson, look over there." a wolf said pointing.

They looked and saw something sticking out of the sand. Orson trotted over on his horse towards the object. The sand was soft but didn't hinder the horse at all as he stopped and got off.

"This is the royal knight's armor. But where is the body?"

Vibrations in the ground made the horse panic as Orson calmed it down. Yuri got this chill down his spine making his shiver.

"Yuri, what's wrong?" Jelanda asked.

"Something's here." he said.

He saw what no else did which was a long bony fin poke rise from the sand before disappearing back down. Yuri panicked as the direction it was seen appeared to be heading for Orson. He wasted no time as he took off towards Orson.

"Orson move." Yuri shouted.

Orson looked at him confused before the vibrations got stronger. He managed to turn in time to see the long fin appear before something jumped out of the sand towards him. Yuri got to Orson in time as he jumped off Argo and tackled Orson in time to see the creature come down on Orson's horse taking it into the sand.

"What in the name of gods is that?" Orson said freaked out.

"I don't know but let's not hang around to find out."

"Yuri looked across the cave to find another opening which looked like an exit.

"Orson, see the opening on the other side?"

"Yeah," Orson said looking in that direction.

"You and the princess make a dash for it. I'll keep it distracted."

"Are you sure?"

"You have no horse and Argo won't listen to you so yeah I'm sure."

Orson nodded his head as they both stood up.

"On my mark, head back to the opening. GO!" Yuri shouted as they separated.

Orson ran fast as he reached the small ledge where Jelanda and the other knights were waiting.

"What is that?" Jelanda said scared.

"I don't know. Yuri found the exit on the other side so he's going to keep it distracted while we go there."

"But what if....."

"Princess this was his decision. Now we don't have much time. Let's go."

Jelanda nodded her head as Orson hopped onto the horse with her and took off towards the other side. Yuri let out a whistle as Argo hustled to his side. He mounted in time to see the creature heading towards Jelanda.

"Come on boy," he said as he took off towards it.

Orson looked behind him when he felt the vibrations to see it gaining on them.

"Faster," he shouted.

The fin went underground again before the worm like creature jumped again and came crashing down on three knights, killing two on impact and taking the third down with it.

"Dammit," Orson cursed as he and the remaining knights made it to the cave opening.

Yuri made a halt in the middle as the fin appeared again coming for him. He made a sharp turn and started to ride fast. The vibrations were strong as the creature was right behind him. He didn't want to look back but he did as he saw the face.

Its face appeared to be made of stone as only the top could be seen along with it pitch black eyes and small orange pupils as the creature looked at him. He turned back around as the vibrations stopped.

"Yuri look out!!" Jelanda shouted.

He turned back to see the creature airborne as it crashed down onto the ground send him and Argo flying to the ground. Argo landed hard but got up quickly and ran off in a panic. Yuri hit his head hard on a rock sending him in a daze and he laid there seeing stars. It was then he heard a voice speak to him in his head.

"Aim for the weak spot. That's the only way to beat the colossus."

Yuri got his senses back after a minute and stood up wobbly.

"What was that voice just now?"

He felt weak vibrations as he saw the fin coming for him. Breaking off into a run, he let out a whistle. Argo came running besides him as he grabbed the reins while still being chased. He looked back to see the colossus looking at him. That's when it hit him.

"The eyes, weak spot."

He watched the colossus go under the sand again preparing to jump. Breaking hard to the right, he avoided the attack as it crashed into the sand.

"Now I know what to do." Yuri said grabbing his bow from his back. "Come on boy."

He galloped towards the fin before turning as it followed him. Fixing an arrow, he turned around. Taking aim, he waited till it opened its eyes before firing. He shot was off as it bounced off its hard surface. He pulled Argo hard to the left avoiding another attempt by the colossus to crush him.

"Damn, I need to concentrate. Okay boy, I'm counting on you to help me out."

Argo took off again before veering off to the left as the colossus followed him. Fixing another arrow, he took aim. With a determined look, he fired as it hit the colossus in the left eye. It let out a squeal of pain as it twisted and turned in the sand before crashing into the call wall, its body exposed in a U pattern.

"That did it. Come on Argo."

He galloped over to it as it was huge. The sides of the colossus body was protected by rock while its back side seemed to be covered in what appeared to be black fur as it moved from side to side. Hopping off, he walked to it and pulled out his sword causing a shining symbol to appear on it back.

"Weak spot." Yuri said as he started to climb up to it.

Keeping a grip on the fur, he reared back and drove his sword into it causing black blood which look like smoke to shoot out. He did it again as the symbol disappeared making it squeal in pain before he started to climb again. The colossus wiggled more violently as Yuri had to bend down on all fours as he saw another symbol at the top.

He got his grip again before lifting his sword and driving it into the symbol. The colossus let out another squeal as Yuri felt it almost regaining its composure.

"No you don't," Yuri said as he brought his sword down with all his might.

The colossus let out a squeal before it stopped moving and fell to the ground. Yuri let out a sigh as he jumped to the ground. Looking back, the colossus started to turn black.

"Yuri you did." Jelanda said happily.

Yuri let out a smile as Argo came over as he patted his neck.

"Go boy Argo."

"Yuri behind you."

He looked behind in time to see black, smoke like tentacles that appeared to come from the colossus as it headed straight for him. He reacted too late as they connected with Yuri body's disappearing inside him. Yuri let out a grunt when the tentacles hit him as he dropped to the ground and lost conscious.

********

Yuri opened his eyes to find himself not where he was when he fought the colossus. He was in a small canyon with a series of dilapidated, ruined structures stand crumbling, half submerged, in the dark lake.

"Where am I?"

A screeching sound caught his attention as a giant bird swooped overhead before landing on one of the pillars sticking out of the water. It looked over at one of the stone platforms almost submerged in water to the lone figure standing there. It had a long tail with its back covered in fur along with giant stone wings. A small area of fur could be seen on the front edges of both wings.

"Who is that?"

The figure had a bow in arrow in his hands and let fly as it struck the bird causing it to take flight. It floated in the air before swooping down on the man as he jumped and grabbed the fur on the wing as it took flight back into the air. He held on tight as it flapped its massive stone wings trying to shake off as he climbed onto its back. Gaining his ground, he pulled out a sword which Yuri recognized as his own.

"How does he have the same sword as I do? Just who is guy?"

Sword in hand, the man headed down to the end of the bird's tail as that same symbol appeared. Bending down, he got a grip on the fur and raising the sword, drove it into the symbol making the bed screech in pain. After the third strike, the symbol disappeared as the man stood up and headed back to the front. He had to get his grip every couple of seconds as the wind was against him and he didn't want to be blown off.

Reaching the neck, he watched the bird's wing as he saw another symbol. He had to time his movement just right or he would be tossed off. The colossus went into a glide as it extended its wings which was just the opening he needed as he quickly but carefully made it to the batch of fur on its wing where the symbol was. Bending down, he drove his sword into the wing. The bird screeched and did a barrel roll as the man hung on to the fur with all his might before the bird righted itself.

He drove the sword into the wing again as the colossus did another roll. As he went with it, he lost his grip as he plummeted to the water below hitting it feet first. He broke the surface with a gasp as the colossus circled overhead. Getting his bearings, he located a platform and swam for it. Climbing up, he pulled out his bow and searched the sky to see colossus. Fixing an arrow, he waited till it flew over head before firing at it making it screech. It circled around before diving at the man again, talons extended. The man jumped up and grabbed the fun on it wings being taken up in the air again.

He held on as it flapped its wings gaining altitude before it glided around. Moving quickly, he made it to the left wing, where the last symbol was and drove the sword into it causing black blood to spill. Holding on during the roll, the bird righted itself as he made the final strike. The bird let out a screech before falling into the lake below along with the man. The man broke the surface with a gasp again and swam towards the platform. He managed to stand up before the same black tentacles flew towards him as they got absorbed into his body. The man dropped to the ground knocked out as Yuri's vision went white.
