A poem about how important our perception of the world is and how we will always have our ideas no matter what.

Perception

I don t know what I feel Is what I see, sight? Is what I hear, Is what I hear sound? The words all fall apart Inside my mouth Yet I cannot taste them Cannot touch them And then I feel my nose fracture Into pieces, falling Crumbling away

The emotions inside me Dance around chaos They dance without me Taunting and hazing me The only partner left Is my confusion

Anger stomps around Stomps on my feet Joy makes my head spin Confusion stumbles

Sorrow stabs my eyes Indifference takes my ears Pity picks up my nose crumbs And hunger eats them Confusion stutters twice

Hatred puts fire in my mouth And desire takes my tongue Love takes a stake Drives it through my heart And understanding Takes a club to my head Confusion trips

Finally, reason takes my throat And hope silences me Confusion now turns Ties and bounds me Throws me in a box Lock with key and toss Lost to memory

No emotions left No senses left No physical action left I lie a _life_less husk

Then, hope feels with pity They send me a gift One small shred Of my mind

I realize that there is one thing Nothing can take: The world I shall Perceive Will never leave me.
