Warning: this story contains a scene of violence. Enjoy!!!

A couple of months had passed since John's disappearance. Lucas awoke that cold November Morning to the smell of bacon and eggs in the kitchen. He lazily put a pair of pants on, then realized Mason wasn't in bed. He raced downstairs, finding that Mason was the one doing the cooking.

"Morning Lucas!" Mason said, flipping some bacon.

"I didn't know you could cook." Lucas said, relaxing.

"Unfortunately, I can only cook breakfast. You'll have to handle dinner." Mason smiled.

"Hope you like pizza. That's all I know how to fix." Lucas laughed.

The tow furs laughed at each other, then fell silent, both their thoughts drifting to John's whereabouts.

"Where do you think he is right now?" Mason finally said.

"No idea. All he told me in the letter was that he used to help the police with investigations by looking at the data and finding things just by observing. Sort of like Sherlock Holmes I guess." Lucas said.

"Wow. Can you imagine having a gift like that?" Mason said.

"It can also be a curse. Noticing every detail, every fact. It would drive me mad." Lucas said with a sigh.

"I miss him." Mason said.

"Me too, honey." Lucas said.

"I do not" a voice said loudly.

Mason and Lucas looked at each other then all around to find the source of the voice. A well dressed ferret stepped out of the shadows with two bulls on each side of him. He stood smiling at mason and Lucas, his golden tooth glimmering in the light.

"Good morning boys. I trust you are well?" The ferret said with an Irish accent.

"Who the hell are you, and what are you doing in our home?" Lucas Growled with malice.

"Oh damn my eyes! Where are my manners? My name is Shane Leary. You must have gotten my letters." Shane said.

"YOU! You're the bastard!" Mason said with a growl.

Mason made a run at Shane, but a thug punched him hard in the face and threw him back into Lucas' arms.

"I'll ask nicely one more time. Did you get my letters?" Shane said, frowning this time.

"Yes." Lucas spat back.

"Then the good doctor John has left you! Good! I would hate to have to kill such a pretty thing as he. Now here's what we're going to do while we've got time. We're gonna play a game called tell the truth. For every wrong answer, this is what'll happen." Shane said.

One of the thugs grabbed Lucas and kicked him hard in the stomach. The other held Mason back and made him watch. Lucas' breath left him as he laid on the floor gasping for air.

"Okay lad. First question. Where has Johnny boy run to?" Shane growled.

"He...left...after your last note...didn't...say where..." Lucas gasped.

"Good answer lad! Hit him again." Shane smiled.

"NO!" Mason shouted.

The bull punched Lucas hard in the stomach, the pinned him up against the wall.

"GAHH!" Lucas cried out.

"Second question. How many people have you told about my little game with Johnny?" Shane said.

"NO! PLEASE DON'T HURT HIM!" Mason begged.

"Fuck...YOU!" Lucas said then spit in the bulls face.

The bull punched him even harder in the stomach.

"I'm a patient man laddie. I can wait for you to tell the truth, but your ribs, however, cannot. Hit him again. This time in the face." Shane smiled with evil intent.

"NOOO!" Mason begged.

Lucas' nose broke under the force of the punch and blood began dripping from it. His eyes began to fill with tears, but he never made a sound. Don't let them hear you scream again, he thought.

"You're a beautiful kid Lucas. Wouldn't want to hurt that pretty face any more, now would we? So my third and final question...Are you willing to die for him?" Shane nearly whispered.

"Yes. I was always willing to and I still am." Lucas coughed with a little blood.

"That's good my boy. Because your going to!" Shane said, then pulled a gun and aimed it at Lucas' head.

"NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" Mason screamed.

Lucas closed his eyes and smiled. If he was going to die, his last thought was going to be of John and Mason, the two greatest loves he will ever know. Shane cocked his pistol, and smiled.

"PUT THE GUNS DOWN SHANE!" John's voice roared.

Lucas, Mason, and Shane turned to see John standing in the doorway, with a gun in his hand, and he wasn't alone. On his left was a female badger, pointing a shotgun at the bull holding Mason. On his right was a male hare pointing two pistols at the bull holding Lucas.

"I said PUT THEM DOWN!" John Roared again.

"I'M ALREADY DEAD!" Shane roared.

A shot rang out and Shane hit the floor, dead from a head shot. The bulls dropped Mason and Lucas and tried to pull their guns, the badger and the hare took them down with ease. John raced over to Mason and Lucas, and Lucas was crying giant tears at his loves return. Mason and Lucas embraced John and would not let go.

"It's Okay loves! It's Okay! I'm here." John said. "Come on guys. Let's get you to a hospital."

They all left the house and jumped in the waiting car. There were police outside waiting to process the scene, and john told them to be careful inside the house. The ride to the hospital was peaceful for Lucas for the three of them. John had his arm around Mason and Lucas in his lap resting.

After a couple hours, the doctors told Lucas his nose was broken, obviously, and he had a couple of cracked ribs. He would have to take it easy for a few weeks. Easy enough, thought Lucas.

"Guys I forgot to introduce you to these two. This is Kelly Lambert, an expert in mathematical logistics and her husband, Charles Winchester, an expert in criminal behavioral analysis. These two have been helping me track down Shane for the last two months." John said.

"Nice to meet you." Kelly said, smiling.

"Gentlemen." Charles said, smiling too. "Well we must be going. The opera is in a few hours and Kelly and myself must get ready.

"See you guys later. I'll call if anything comes up." John said.

The three furs sat there silently for a few minutes staring at each other. The silence was broken by the crying of John, who was hiding his face in his hands. "Baby?! What's wrong? You're home now." Lucas said.

"You two were hurt because of me. I don't deserve either of you." John sobbed.

"Bullshit. We love you no matter what happens." Mason said.

"Right! Now come here. Both of you" Lucas said.

The three embraced one another. They kissed each other tenderly, as if it had been years. They all got up and got Lucas' discharged.

"I'm proud of both of you." John said, wiping his eyes.

"How so?" Mason said.

"What they did to you...would have broken most people, but you two...took it and are okay. I'm proud of you for holding your own." John said.

"I said I would die for you. I meant it." Lucas said.

"I'm not so sure you should be proud of me. I was freaking out and begging them not to hurt Lucas. I couldn't do anything to help him." Mason said.

"I'm still proud of you for trying to help him. Now let's go get some Pizza!" John said.

They made a quick stop at the store for some frozen pizzas and headed home to find the police gone, the bodies and blood cleaned, and the place in one piece. John pulled his guitar out and they sang throughout the evening until they all got tired. They laid in front of the TV and watched Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, one of John's favorites, until they all fell asleep.

The next morning, Lucas and mason woke up in the bed next to each other. John was nowhere to be seen, and they rushed downstairs to find john tuning his guitar and singing Home by Daughtry. Mason started on breakfast and Lucas wrapped his arms around John and kissed him good morning.

"I didn't know you could cook, Mason." John said.

"Heh, yeah I get that a lot." Mason said laughing.

"I can cook dinner, but never breakfast. So I guess you'll have to teach me, kiddo." John said, kissing Mason's cheek.

Lucas smiled at his newfound family, happy that he has them. There was a knock at the door, and Lucas opened it to see it was the mailman. Lucas took the mail and handed the letters to John. One letter was actually for Lucas, at John's address, which the three of them thought was odd.

Lucas opened the letter and his expression turned to one of anger. The letter read:

So you thought my little game was over and that you had won! The game is far from over my dear friends. The four of us are going to become much closer before the end. When the snow begins to fall, the end will begin as well.

S. L.

"John? It's for all three of us." Lucas growled.

John took the letter from him and Mason peered over John's shoulder at the letter. John and Mason, both with looks of worry, looked at Lucas.

"I guess it's...not over yet." Lucas sighed.
