Open Minded

The airport swarmed with furs, all moving in different directions. The bags were checked in, and the only thing left was for Danielle to board her plane. She went through her head of everything she needed. "Luggage, done; backpack, ready; tickets, check" she thought.

The teal dragon had her bag slung over one shoulder, and she fixed it during the awkward pause. Her brother Dylan was busy scratching his arm with a claw. Her mother was staring at her.

"Mom...what..."

"Oh nothing," her mother said, "Just have fun, and if you do anything illegal I will kill you"

"Killing me is also illegal..."

"Only if I get caught"

Danielle rolled her green eyes, and she saw Dylan do the same. The green dragon walked up to his sister. "Bye, Danielle. I'll see you in a week or whenever you're coming back"

"It's two weeks"

"Okay then, see you in two weeks..."

Danielle nodded, and quickly gave her family a hug. She waved goodbye while walking toward the boarding gate. Pushing all her things through the security check, she sped through, and went to her gate.

"I don't want you to go!" Danielle cried, hugging her best friend. The white wolf cried back.

_ "I have to...my parents are leaving for another state and I have to go with them!"_

_ "But you're my best friend!"_

_ "I'll come and visit! And I promise to write!"_

_ "And I guess we'll always keep in touch online..."_

_ "Yeah...Bye Danielle..." Liz said, as she left the dragon's driveway in a taxi. Danielle waved helplessly, watching her best friend being pulled away from her._

"Liz..." Danielle thought, "I'll be there in a few hours..." The dragon leaned back in her seat, resting her eyes on the flight. She thought back to how they met.

Danielle was just a freshman in high school. She wasn't the most popular. Actually, she was probably one of the least popular kids there. No one hated her, but she hardly had any friends and they weren't even that close.

_ She sat alone, under a tree, hugging her stomach. She had forgotten to make lunch again, and she didn't have any money on her to buy any. Her tummy growled, making her hug her own midsection tighter. She growled back. "Be quiet...I'll feed you when we get home..." But that was over three hours away. It would be painful lasting that long without food._

_ The wind blew around her, making her fold herself in tighter, leaning against the trunk of the tree. She felt a paw on her shoulder. She looked up, and there was a wolf standing above her._

The white wolf squatted next to her. "She seems pretty..." was Danielle's first thought. It was an understatement. The wolf's fur was almost a pure white. She was the same build as the dragon was: a bit muscular and not too thin, but also very feminine. She held out a box of crackers.

_ "You seem hungry..." she said softly, "do you want this? I brought it extra and I don't want it. You can have it"_

_ Danielle didn't say anything. She looked up into the wolf's light blue eyes. They were full of kindness and compassion. She accepted the box, opening it with her claws. "Thank you," she said almost silently._

_ The wolf held out a paw. "I'm Liz, by the way"_

_ Danielle took the paw, barely shaking it at all. "Danielle..." she said. Liz smiled, and sat down next to her. Danielle was taken aback. She always knew she would have a hard time making friends, and here was a girl who just shared her lunch and sat next to her._

_ "Liz...can we be friends?" she asked, fearing the answer._

_ "I thought we already were..." Liz said, smiling again._

_ Danielle felt happier immediately. She looked up at the wolf, who was still beaming. Another gust of wind blew across the campus. Danielle shivered, rubbing her bare arms._

_ Liz reached into her backpack and pulled out a thick sweatshirt with a hood. She pushed it into Danielle's claws, telling her to accept it. "Here, it's cold...you can wear this..."_

_ Danielle was surprised again. "But...this is yours..."_

_ "I know...But I don't need it. Fur coat," she explained, rubbing her own furry arm to prove her point, "But you need it, so take it. You can return it later"_

_ Danielle slipped it on, feeling warmer instantly. "Thanks..." she said._

_ "No problem"_

_ "Hey, this weekend, maybe we could--" Danielle started. The bell rang abruptly, cutting her off._

_ "Oh I have class on the other side of campus. I'll see you around, Danielle"_

_ The dragon watched as the wolf picked up her backpack and started walking off. She hugged her stomach again, but not out of hunger. Instead, she held herself to feel the sweatshirt around her. "I made a friend today," she thought._

Danielle smiled at the thought. Throughout the year, they only grew closer. As it turns out, Danielle was Liz's first friend too. The wolf had just transferred into their school a week ago. They spent a lot of their time together. They didn't have any classes together, but they managed to spend time with each other on the weekends and after school.

Liz helped build up Danielle's confidence until she became comfortable with other social interactions. She made new friends at school, and became happier as a result. However, the pair remained best friends.

The day that Liz had to leave came in Danielle's senior year. They had spent four wondrous years together, and they only became friendlier and closer. It was the first day of their summer, the day after their graduation.

Danielle rubbed her eyes, opening them slowly and adjusting to the light. "Ten in the morning? Frick..." she thought, looking at her clock. She picked up the phone. She sang a couple of scales, trying to get rid of her sleepy-sounding voice.

_ After dialing Liz's number, it rang three times before she picked up. "Hey Liz, maybe you want to hang out today?"_

_ "I...I can't...Danielle...I'll be at your house in a couple of minutes...please...wait for me..."_

_ Danielle furrowed up her eyebrows in confusion. Liz sounded raspy, as if she had been crying. She quickly dressed and headed to the kitchen for breakfast._

_ She saw a taxi pull up next to their driveway. Liz stepped out, head facing downward. Danielle rushed out to meet her. The dragon stopped, when she noticed that Liz's eyes were red, confirming that she had been crying. "Liz...are you okay...?"_

_ "Danielle...I'm sorry...I have to go..."_

_ "Where are you going?"_

_ "To Florida..."_

_ "What? For how long?"_

_ "I don't know...maybe forever"_

_ Danielle could feel her world shatter. This was her best friend, the one who she shared everything with. She was her companion for four years, and in one day was being taken away. She could feel the stinging of tears._

_ "But...you're my best friend, you can't go!"_

_ "And you're my best friend...I don't want to go..."_

_ Danielle hugged the wolf close, wishing that she didn't have to let go. This was the one who saved her from loneliness. This was the one who comforted her when she was depressed. This was the one who loyally stuck with her through everything._

_ A voice calling for Liz came from the taxi. "I have to go..." she said._

_ Danielle let go reluctantly. "I don't want you to go!" she cried._

Danielle woke up to an intercom on the plane. The memory of Liz's leaving was the last thing she remembered thinking about. "Must've fallen asleep," she thought. She lifted herself back up slightly after slumping in the seat in her sleep.

"What did they say?" she asked, turning to a husky next to her.

"We'll be landing shortly," he said, flipping over a page in his magazine without looking up.

"Thanks"

Danielle leaned back, feeling the sensations of the plane drop lower and lower, as if it were a roller coaster.

She pulled her wheeled luggage pack behind her, still wearing her backpack. Walking outside, she whipped her head left and right, looking for her friend.

"Danielle?" she heard someone say. She looked in the direction of the sound, and spotted a waving white wolf.

"Liz!" she shouted.

The wolf bounded toward her, crashing into her at full speed, almost making her fall over.

Liz wrapped her arms around Danielle's neck, planting a large kiss on the dragon's cheek. "I missed you," she said.

Danielle blushed from the kiss. "That was weird..." she thought, but was too distracted by her friend to worry about anything.

"I missed you too!" she said.

Liz led the dragon to her red car, and they left the airport, heading for the wolf's home.

"Mom and dad aren't home right now, so you'll have to wait until tonight to meet them" she said.

Danielle nodded.

The two spent the long car ride catching up on their lives. Liz was enrolled in the Florida Greenfield University, but will be transferring out. She wouldn't say where. Liz shared her life in Florida, and how different it was from California.

Danielle listened intently, happy to be reunited with her best friend. The ride was over before they knew it, and Liz led the dragon to her two-story home. Danielle whistled as she entered, expressing her wonder at the large house.

"Come up to my room," the wolf said, beckoning Danielle over.

Danielle followed her up the stairs and into a large bedroom. The bed itself was situated in the far left corner. There was a window on the opposite wall, and a desk right below it. Danielle noticed that there was a picture of her on the desk, posing by herself with her teal and blue scales and purples horns. However, there were red and pink hearts drawn all over the glass in the picture frame. "You really missed me, huh?" she asked with a smirk.

"More than you'll ever know..." Liz said quietly.

Danielle raised one eyebrow at the sudden comment of her friend. She mentally shrugged and moved on to the next topic.

"How's college?"

"It's been okay...I wish you were there..."

"That's nice, I-- "

"Every day..." Liz added, cutting off the dragon.

Danielle paused again. There it was again; that unnerving wording. The door downstairs slammed shut, breaking her trance.

"My parents are home," Liz said, shaking her white tail as she ran downstairs. Danielle followed.

"Danielle!" Liz's mother said. She was a gray wolf, with white streaks running down her tail, as opposed to the pure white that Liz had. "It's been so long!"

Liz's father acknowledged them, but didn't say anything, except for one extremely confusing sentence. "So Liz, are you girlfriends now?"

The white wolf gasped and turned a visible shade of red in her face. "Dad...no!" she yelled, running up her room again.

Danielle followed her up, wondering why she reacted so badly. Liz was standing next to her desk, staring at the picture of Danielle. The dragon saw her, and approached slowly. "Liz...are you okay?"

The wolf didn't say anything. Danielle continued. "Liz...you know, my mom teases me all the time...just don't think anything of it"

Liz shook her head. "Danielle...they weren't teasing..."

"So...they actually thought we were going out?" she scoffed with a small laugh. "They think you're lesbian?" she smirked.

"They know it...because... I am" she said, closing her eyes.

"Oh...you know I don't mind...I mean...my mom teases me all the time! I can just imagine if you told her that you liked other girls. 'Your name is Liz? Don't you mean Lez?'"

Liz giggled a little. "I always liked your mom's sense of humor..."

Danielle gagged. "It gets annoying, trust me...But anyways! I don't care that you're lesbian or anything, you're still my best friend!"

Liz gasped softly again, but not from happiness. She looked down at the floor, and a tear slid down her cheek and onto the floor.

It was Danielle's turn to gasp, although due to surprise. "Liz! I meant it! We'll always be friends!"

The wolf dropped down to the floor and onto her knees, more tears escaping.

Danielle sat down next to her, putting a claw on her shoulder. "What's wrong? Why are you crying?" she asked, concerned.

"I don't want to be friends," Liz cried.

Danielle's mouth opened in shock, but no words would come out. Finally, her sound found a way back to her all at once and she yelled out. "What?! Why?!" she demanded, almost bringing her on the verge to tears.

"Because..."

"Why?!"

Liz stayed silent. Danielle yelled loudly. "Why?!"

"Because I love you!" Liz shouted out, sure that her parents had heard her.

Danielle was taken aback. Liz. She loved her. Someone loved her. Her first thought was "She loves me...that's really sweet and flattering!" Her second thought came like a train crash in her mind. "What do I do?!" Several scenarios flicked through. "I could walk away. No, that would be just insensitive and horrible. I could give her a hug to stop her crying. But she might interpret that as me loving her back! Do I love her? I don't think so...Well I love her, but as a friend! I think I should just let her down gently"

"Liz..." Danielle started, "I'm really flattered, and touched really"

The wolf sensed the "but" coming, and started crying harder, raising her arm to cover the tears.

"But I don't think I like you that way. I don't think I like girls in general that way"

Liz cried harder, and through her sobs managed to choke out "But I've loved you for years"

Danielle suddenly felt terrible. Here was someone who had loved her for years, too afraid to say anything. The day she did come forth, she was shut down immediately. "I don't even know how horrible I would feel if this were me," she thought, recognizing how miserable her friend really was.

"Liz..." she said, "You know what...I'm really open-minded. If you're willing, maybe I could go on a few dates with you and experiment a bit"

Liz looked up, still crying. "D-Do you...m-mean that?"

"I do. But you have to understand two things"

"W-What?"

"Firstly, I need you to understand that I'm just experimenting"

"Okay..."

"Secondly, you need to know that I may not fall in love with you like you have with me. We'll always be friends, but I'm not sure if we'll ever be lovers"

Liz nodded. "It's okay. Even if I only get to be with you for a few days as your girlfriend, I'll love every second of it"

Danielle smiled, giving the wolf a hug, and feeling two arms around her own back.

Liz's parents came up to check on them after hearing yelling, and the sight of the two entwined made them back out and close the door with a soft click.

The beach was swarming with furs. Liz and Danielle both wore bikini tops and bottoms, splashing in the water. The sun was beating down on the Florida beach, and the sand soaked up the heat, turning into a burning desert. The ocean was the only place to escape the heat radiating from the earth.

At first, Liz kept her distance, splashing the water at the dragon playfully as if they were a pair of friends and nothing more. Soon, she started sneaking in a few touches and strokes along the dragon's arm and back.

Danielle noticed the wolf's innuendos. Initially, she was a bit skeptical and a little uncomfortable. Then, she realized that it was quite enjoyable. She liked someone there to have fun with her. She liked having someone who thought she was pretty and tried to get closer.

She was a little nervous since Liz was also female, and she didn't believe that she could feel comfortable around someone of the same sex, but she became more and more accustomed to the idea. In fact, she realized that she was having more fun with Liz as her girlfriend than as her best friend.

Her thoughts were interrupted by a sudden hug from Liz from behind. Danielle tensed up immediately, taken by surprise.

"Oh...too soon?" asked Liz apologetically.

"N-No, it just took me by surprise," the dragon said, leaning back into the hug. She felt loved, and that feeling was incredible to her.

Danielle looked up from her plate, and noticed that Liz was staring at her with large eyes. She stopped chewing on her food and stared back awkwardly. Liz broke from her daydreaming and focused back on her own dinner, blushing slightly. Danielle smiled.

When they were done, Liz led them both up back to her room. Danielle had slept on the floor in a sleeping bag last night, and the scrawny piece of camping gear was splayed to the side of Liz's bed pathetically. "So um..." she said, "What do you want to do?"

Danielle hesitated. "Hmm...maybe...play a game...?" she asked half-heartedly, not believing that anyone would want to do that.

Liz nodded, and took out her video game console, connecting it to the television. "I don't play it very often," she explained, "No one plays with me..."

Danielle's mouth hung open a little; she was surprised that Liz took her suggestion seriously. "Wait, seriously?" she asked.

"I don't care what we do, as long as we do it together," the wolf said quietly, still busy with the tangle of wires.

"Wow Liz, that was...really romantic..." Danielle said. She could feel her heart rate jump up. She felt happy that Liz wanted to be with her. She felt loved. "Stop it, Liz..." she thought to herself, "You're going to make me love you back..."

"Here you go!" the wolf said cheerfully, handing her a controller. Danielle accepted it, thanking her. The screen lit up, revealing their favorite game back when they were both in high school. The game started, and the furious clicking of buttons permeated the air.

Danielle stepped out of the shower attached to Liz's bedroom. A cloud of steam billowed out. The wolf looked up from her desk and her jaw dropped. Danielle had opened the door and came back into Liz's room. Wearing only a tight tank top and short shorts, her scales glistened with dampness. "What...?" she asked, "Did I miss a spot?" She turned around quickly, trying to see if part of her was still dirty.

"No...you look...perfect..." Liz said, still not breaking eye contact with the dragon. Danielle blushed, sitting down on her sleeping bag.

"Thanks..." she said, "You look really pretty too"

Liz's eyes became big and she kneeled down next to the dragon. "Really?"

"Um...yeah...I actually mean that..."

Liz clapped her paws together quickly, quietly cheering to herself. Danielle giggled at the sight. She lied down onto her own small sleeping apparatus while the wolf climbed onto her bed.

Liz reached over to her nightstand and clicked off the lamp, bathing the room in darkness, except for the moonlight streaming in from the unobstructed window. "Good night, Danielle..."

"Good night," she said, yawning and rolling over.

A few minutes later, Liz could no longer resist asking. "Danielle!" she whispered loudly, poking a digit into the dragon's stomach. "Are you awake?"

Danielle opened her eyes to face the wolf. "Yes, I am..." she said, looking uninterested.

"I need to ask you something"

"Okay, shoot"

"Did you like today?"

Danielle paused. "I did. I really did. It was really fun"

"Oh..." Liz said, feeling happier. "Did you like being my girlfriend?" she asked nervously.

Danielle paused for a longer moment. She had to think. Her day certainly was more fun with the wolf, and she would be lying if she said she didn't enjoy the little touches and strokes. Even playing a video game was made more amusing with someone leaning against her. She took a deep breath. "I did...I like being your girlfriend"

Liz gasped in happiness. "Really?"

"Yes, I actually really liked it"

The wolf leaned back into her pillow, too happy to speak. Suddenly, she turned back to the dragon, who was staring and smiling at her. "Danielle..." she started.

"Yeah?"

"Um...do you want to keep experimenting...?"

This question caught the dragon off guard. She froze up physically, and scoured her mind for an answer. "Do I want to be her official girlfriend?" she asked herself. "I'm not lesbian...at least...I don't think so...But I liked being her girlfriend just experimenting. You know what? I'm just not going to think about. I'm going to enjoy this. I want to be her girlfriend, her official one. I want to be with her!"

"Liz," she said, recapturing the attention of the wolf after she became nervous of Danielle's long pause.

"Um...Danielle...forget I asked that question..."

"No, it's okay. And no, I don't want to keep experimenting"

Liz looked down, and tears started dripping out again. "I shouldn't have asked..." she said.

Danielle saw the tears, and jumped onto the bed too, giving the wolf a hug. "I didn't mean it that way," she said.

Liz looked up at the dragon. "I meant," Danielle continued, "that I want to be your official girlfriend. I'm not sure if I love you, but I really, really like you"

The wolf gasped in surprise again, and pressed her muzzle onto the dragon's own. She pulled away quickly after she realized what she had done.

"Oh I'm so sorry!" she said.

Danielle released her from the hug. "It's okay. I liked it"

"Really?"

"Really," said the dragon, leaning forward to give Liz another kiss. They connected. They held each other steady while their lips touched.

Liz opened her mouth and poked at the dragon's muzzle with her tongue. Danielle opened her mouth, allowing the wolf to slurp all over her tongue.

The need to breathe kicked in, and Liz pulled away, panting. She slowly opened her eyes, and she saw Danielle with her eyes still closed and her mouth still open.

"Wow..." Liz said, "That was my first kiss..."

"That wasn't my first, but it was definitely my best," Danielle said smiling.

The wolf tilted her head slightly and averted her eyes to the side. "So um...are we together now?"

"I'd like that," the dragon said, to Liz's glee.

Over time, Danielle and Liz's relationship grew stronger with each passing moment. They went on dates and slept in the same bed. Liz became visibly happier and more ecstatic. Danielle still considered herself bisexual, although she had never had a boyfriend before.

They walked down the avenue holding paws and chatting. "I had a great time, Liz," the dragon said.

Liz blushed slightly. "So did I...But I still like our first date the most..." she said.

Danielle recalled that day.

"I'd like that," the dragon said.

_ "Then we should go on a date!" said Liz, putting extra emphasis on the word "date"_

_ "Um...okay...but where?"_

_ "You just leave that to me!" the wolf stated proudly, puffing out her chest and pointing toward it with her paw._

_ A day later, they were walking to the boardwalk. From far away, the Ferris wheel and drop tower were already visible because of their grand sizes and heights. Paying their entrance fee, Liz led the way into the boardwalk amusement park._

_ Danielle whipped her head in all directions, taking in the neon lights and ambling furs. The sun was setting, casting an orange and pink glow to the lights that were just turning on. "Why is there hardly anyone here?" Danielle asked._

_ Of course, the amusement park was sufficiently filled with furs, but compared to other parks, it seemed deserted._

_ "It's because it's Wednesday..."Liz stated flatly, as it the fact wasn't clear enough already._

_ "Ah..."_

_ "So, what do you want to do first?" Liz asked, taking the dragon's claw into her paw._

_ Danielle shrugged. "Anything's fine"_

_ "How about that?" asked the wolf, pointing to the drop tower._

_ "No, no way! I hate freefall!"_

_ Five minutes later filled with false edification from Liz, Danielle was dragged along to the ride._

_ Ten minutes later, the dragon was walking with shaky steps, still scarred from the ride. Liz smirked slightly. "You want me to carry you?"_

_ Danielle shot the wolf a dirty look. "This is your fault...but I don't trust you..."_

_ "Aw...you don't trust your girlfriend?"_

_ The dragon shook her head. "Not after you tricked me into going on that deathtrap!"_

_ _

_ "I trust you less and less..." Danielle warned as she got off another frighteningly extreme ride._

_ Liz giggled. "Okay, no more!" she said._

_ "That's what you said last time!"_

_ "Well, I promise this time!"_

_ "That's what you said the time before that!"_

_ Liz sighed. "Fine, let's just go home. It's getting late anyways..."_

_ _

Danielle snapped back to reality. Liz said something but she didn't hear. "What was that?" she asked.

Liz looked over, and repeated herself, looking slightly down. "I'm going to really miss you when you go back to California"

Danielle suddenly felt as though someone had yanked out her stomach and placed it back upside down, causing her to feel as though she would throw up. She hadn't even thought about going back the entire time. Spending her days with the wolf had been so enjoyable that her thoughts hadn't strayed anywhere near her leaving. She had stopped walking, and held her claws up to her chest, trying to stop her heart from beating out of her body.

"Danielle, are you okay?"

"I forgot I have to go..." she said quietly.

"Oh...well, we can still meet online!"

"But that's never worked before... our schedules are too different!"

"Well...I'll think of something!" Liz said, trying to comfort the dragon.

By this time, they had reached Liz's house, and to her dismay, her parents were absent. They trudged up to the bedroom, trying to figure out something to make them feel better.

"You could move in with me?" asked Liz half jokingly.

"I can't...I still have a year of college to complete..."

"This is my last year..." Liz said thoughtfully.

"I don't want to leave! I think I'm falling in love with you!"

Liz stopped. She sat on the bed. "What did you say?"

"I said I love you!" Danielle said softly, trying to stop the oncoming of tears.

Liz pulled the dragon down to her, and hugged her tightly to comfort her. "I love you too, Danielle!" she said, trying to hide her joy.

Danielle calmed down a little in the arms of her girlfriend. Liz lied down on the bed, pulling the dragon with her. Danielle followed willingly, feeling her claws rake softly through the fur on Liz's sides. "You're heavy..." Liz grunted out.

"Sorry!" yelled Danielle, flipping over on her back so they could switch places.

"Much better," she said.

Danielle genuinely smiled at the comment as the wolf leaned down to kiss her. They touched muzzles. They both opened their mouths at the same time, letting their tongues slide into the opposite cavity.

They continued their muzzle touches until hours later. The sun had long gone. They continued. Stars appeared. They maintained their contact. The streets quieted down. Their exhaustion carried them to a rough sleep.

Danielle awoke with a start. "Today's the day I leave..." she thought.

Liz jerked awake from Danielle's movement. The same thing registered in her mind. The wolf gave her a warm embrace.

Danielle had a morning flight, so their time together was even shorter. Tears had already stopped, since they had both accepted their fates.

The drive to the airport was the worst. Liz held the dragon's claw closely, as her parents drove in the front seat. Danielle laid her head on Liz's shoulder, feeling the fur tickle her cheek. As they neared the airport, they both felt worse and worse.

"My first real relationship and it's over like that..." Danielle thought.

As Liz's father parked the car, the other three went to check in Danielle's bags and obtain her ticket.

"You girls go ahead," Liz's mother said. "I need to talk to the clerk about something"

Liz and Danielle mentally shrugged and left to spend their last half an hour together. The wolf's father had returned. "Did you two get your tickets yet?"

Liz cocked an eyebrow. "Are you teasing me?" she asked. "Because it's not funny"

Danielle looked down. "I have my ticket..."

Suddenly, Liz's mother returned with an envelope. "And here's yours!" she exclaimed enthusiastically.

Liz accepted the envelope with confusion. She opened it tentatively, and pulled out an identical ticket to Danielle's.

"What" she stated bluntly.

"Well," her mother explained, "We didn't really want you two to feel super duper sad, so we got you an extra ticket!"

"Wait, what?" Danielle asked.

"Basically, you two go enjoy your lives in California...We'll actually be moving back there very soon ourselves, but we thought that Liz could go first," Liz's father said.

"See, you're her first girlfriend!" the mother said, directing it to Danielle and slightly embarrassing her daughter at the same time, "And you really love each other! Yes, we heard you last night..."

"Anyways," cut in the father, "I think you'll survive for two days without things if you share with Danielle, and we'll send the rest of your important stuff by mail. We'll join you in California in around three months"

Danielle stood on the tiled floor with her jaw hanging open. Liz looked like all her dreams came true.

"I love you! I love you! I love you!" she shrieked ecstatically, giving her parents a hug.

"Your parents are way more awesome than mine," Danielle said, smirking to her girlfriend. "Thanks a lot! This really means a lot to me! To us..." she added.

Liz held her girlfriend's claw, and they both left for the gate together.

The two wolves still standing in the airport waved as the pair entered the gate, looking forward to spending the rest of their time together.

"I'm still amazed that your parents are that flexible and...well, surprising!"

"Yeah, they surprise me sometimes too..." Liz said, as they went through security checks.

"The hotel first, mom," Danielle instructed, telling her mother Sandra where to drive. The dragon and the wolf sat in the back seat, still sore from the plane ride.

They kept their displays of affection to themselves, as Danielle wasn't ready to tell her mother about them.

Liz stepped out, carrying her essentials that her parents had secretly packed for her. After seeing her check in, Danielle secretly gave her a kiss while her mother wasn't looking. The wolf smiled and headed to her room. "I'll see you really soon," she said.

"You too," Danielle said with a knowing smile, heading back to the car where Sandra was waiting.

"Can I go home now?" Sandra asked.

"Fine... but take me with you," Danielle said, smiling at her joke.

"Tcha, and you think my jokes aren't funny..."

They drove away. Although they still were apart, it was much better than before, since they knew they would both be together in their new homes. Danielle shifted her mind to worry about something else.

"How do I tell her mom..." she mused to herself.

Hmm...this is probably...one of the worst stories I've written so far...

I'm sorry! It's just I spent a long time on it and I kind of wanted to post it...

But if you hate it, I understand... but please be gentle...with your harsh words...

Thanks for reading (and wasting your time)!
