Monster I Have Become

Chapter 8

Shadow (About 20 minutes prior to the ending of the last chapter)

"Are you sure you heard fighting Milly?!" I asked the little cub riding upon my back.

"Yes, I did! It was awful! So many sounds and grunts and stuff and I'm absolutely sure I heard Flame!" I hear the squeaky voice answer me rapidly.

'Great! First Ryun, now I gotta deal with more attackers on the forest and I have to beat up Flame for being a total idiot! Sheesh, I never get a break, do I?' I thought to myself.

I sprinted past trees and bushes and yet at the same time I scanned them for movement rapidly.

'No, no, no, no......GODDAMNIT! Why is there nothing here?!' I thought to myself.

"Over there, Shadow. OVER! THERE!" She emphasized each sentence with tug on my fur. She would tug my fur to the left, so I took a ninety degree turn to the left and was immediately met with the sight of reddish-orange fur through the trees.

'Finally!' I thought. I sprinted harder, hoping that nobody was around Flame and that I could find out what happened quickly.

When I reached him, he was just sitting there, with no movements changing his form.

"Flame, are you okay?" I asked hesitantly, hoping nothing was wrong and at the same time hoping he wasn't so I could mess him up more. Then I heard him speak, but he whispered. It was the first time I heard him whisper, so I didn't catch what he said.

"What did you say?" I asked him. This time he spoke a bit louder, but it sounded like he was depressed.

"Couldn't save them. I wonder who they were. Should go try again...or should I get someone's help?" He said quietly; and at that moment, he really did sound depressed.

"Flame, get up and tell me what happened, or I'm gonna mess you up even more." I threatened him, hoping that a threat would snap him back to his senses.

"Shadow...a trainer has Ryun." He said to me finally. As he said it, he stood up and turned to face me. His face was hard, as if what happened had changed him, made him colder and less of who he was before.

"What?! How do you know? Oh, who cares? We gotta save him now!"

"SHADOW!!" He yelled at me. When I looked at him again, I noticed this time that his face wasn't hard and cold...okay, maybe it looked like it was hard and cold. But when I looked into his eyes, I saw that he hadn't changed at all. There was still Flame in that Flareon body. But he chose to lock the true Flame away. He was angry. 'Angry at what though?' I asked myself.

"Shadow, do you remember when we were kids, living in this forest?" He abruptly asked me.

"Umm, Flame? I wasn't here at that time, remember?" I told him.

"Oh, right. Sorry. But, when me and Ryun were kids here, Ryun used to hang out with some other Pokémon. One of them was a Cyndaquil that Ryun had a crush on near the end of those school days. Right before Graduation, he revealed to them that he was going to evolve into an Umbreon. They didn't like it, so they cut their ties with him. He was never the same since. And just now, I think Ryun and that Cyndaquil got captured by a trainer."

'Oh damn. Just......FUCK! Why?! Why couldn't it have been anyone but them two?!'

"Okay, Flame, you take Milly back to the camp, then you're going to take a nap. Mainly cause if I tell you to do anything else, you will take that nap anyway." I said quickly, but before I could continue Milly interrupted me.

"But I want to fight for Ryun too!" She said from atop my back.

"Absolutely not! Your going back to camp with Flame!" I told her sternly. "Anyway, after that nap, Flame, if me and Ryun aren't back, come looking for us. We might need the help."

Flame

"Alright! Let's go, Milly!" I yelled enthusiastically.

"But...!" She tried to argue.

"Ah! I don't see any butts so no 'buts'! Now come on!" I told her, making her giggle. She climbed onto my back and I sprinted towards the camp outside the forest.

When we reached it, I immediately plopped down on the ground and fell fast asleep.

Shadow (Still not at Ryun yet)

"Alright, nobody is around, so I can do this peacefully." I told myself, gearing myself up for something big.

I crouched low to the ground and shut my eyes hard. I concentrated on everything and nothing at the same time. That's when it happened. I guess you could say that I can do what Ryun did, but it's not exactly the same thing. He was able to enter the Black Plains. I can only look through them, but at great distances. Doing this allows me to see and hear what is beyond my physical capabilities. It's like taking my sight and hearing, putting it in a bottle with holes, and casting it out into the ocean. I can move my senses throughout the Black Plains, but I can't interact with anything in or out of it while I am there.

For two hours I searched, until I finally found him. He was in a wooden house somewhere in the forest. 'It is at 47 degrees, and 4 miles out. Alright, I am coming Ryun.'

Thus the ending of the last chapter occurred.

Ryun

"Shadow?! What the hell are you doing here?! You can't be here! Get out! Hurry!" I yelled frantically at Shadow, trying to get her to get out of the house and away from this trainer and her Pokémon.

I tried to get up, but immediately Roque's foot came down on my head.

"Where you think you're going? Did this girl come to save you?! HA! Don't encourage her, bro. She's already lost this fight." He said, while at the same time digging the heel of his foot into my head.

"AGGGHHH! Get off! You're digging your foot into my head!" I screamed at him, the pain starting to get worse and worse. The pain was so intense, but for some reason, there was a hint of familiarity with something inside the pain.

"Oh, really? Cause I don't seem to be putting much weight on it. How about this? Is that better?" He accentuated his last two questions by digging his foot in harder. "Hey! Why are you doing that? Get off of him!"

"AGGHHHH! STOP IT! GET OFF!" I screamed at him more, but it's as if the words never reached him. *Get him off, Ryun.* 'Can't you see I can't!' *Get him off. Cause if you don't, I will.* Rukan responded. He had this tone that I never heard him use. It was commanding, almost befitting a commander of some sort. But in the deep resonating tones was also pain. It might have been a hint of it, like it was an annoyance to him to be feeling it, but it was there.

'You're feeling it too, aren't you?' *No, I'm feeling, but not what you think. Now hurry and get this idiot off of us before he gets himself killed.* He responded coldly.

I noticed that the pain had completely disappeared. Then I noticed where I was. I was in the shadowy plains under the surface again. They looked just the same as before, just a long expansive black ground with a sort of misty look to it. On the horizon there were shadowy tendrils that slithered up and stopped short of the real world's surface. I could see Shadow, and Roque, and the female trainer too. Shadow was smirking at Roque, who looked from the ground to her and back to the ground. He was looking at the spot under him which was where my head used to be. Then I heard the voices. But they had this kind of other worldly texture to them. The voices were there, of course, but at the same time, it's as if they aren't there.

"What did you do to him? Answer me!" I heard Roque's voice, breaking my thought process and causing me to look at the action going on above me. He was staring at Shadow, and the trainer had begun to return to her senses, standing behind her Pokémon, ready to help at any chance she could get.

"I didn't do anything at all. But he did something. And now I'm pretty sure you want to get out of here before he comes back." The words made me wince, but she was smirking, so I guess she meant no harm with them.

*Ryun, I'm taking over. You don't know what to do with this kind of power. Besides, it's too early to expose you to such a curse.* 'Rukan, if you're going to go this, please...' *I know, don't hurt the female. I'm not oblivious to your desires Ryun.*

And then it happened. Suddenly, I was moving, but I knew it wasn't me who was moving my body. It was Rukan. He moved me to get between Shadow and Roque. Then smoky tendrils of pure darkness sparked from the rings on my body. They had turned black again, and now I noticed that they were what was emanating the black mist from last time.

"They will all pay for what they've done to me." I heard Rukan whisper. But before I could ask just what he was talking about, the tendrils shot out and up. They headed straight for Roque and his trainer. They easily broke through the surface and the surprise attack caught everyone off guard, even Shadow. The tendrils wrapped around Roque's ankles and wrists, and the same happened to his trainer. They were suspended into the air and held there. Then Rukan exited the shadow world and rose up through the ground, as if he was a demon rising from the depths of hell itself. At this point in time, for all I know, it could be true.

"Roque? What the hell did you do to him?" The trainer asked Roque. She was scared. I couldn't blame her, I would be too. 'Rukan, please don't kill them. They haven't done anything wrong. They're just two friends looking for some fun in this world. Don't take that away from them.

"But they've done everything wrong." He whispered again.

"I don't care what you do to me you crazed demon," At that, I felt Rukan tense. "But leave Sabrina alone. I'm the one who acted, not her. So leave her alone, or you're gonna wish you did." Roque said to Rukan.

'Please, Rukan! They haven't done anything! Just wipe their memories or something! Yeah, do that!' "Do you think it's that easy?!" He burst out. "It's never that easy! Doing that means they can come back and do you want that Ryun, do you want them to come back and kill all the ones you hold dear?! They need to be killed off, just like every other disgusting human on the face of this planet." He yelled at me. And then I noticed that he just wasn't talking to me. In the limited vision Rukan gave me, I saw Sabrina. And the horrified look she had. 'Rukan! She can understand you! Why the hell can she understand you?'

"Ryun, you obviously haven't noticed. I'm speaking their language. It makes the bile rise in my throat, but she will hear what I have to say. She will hear my voice until the second she dies.

'RUKAN! STOP IT! YOU CAN'T DO THIS! THEY NEVER DID ANYTHING TO YOU!'

"BUT THEY WILL! THEY WILL COME BACK AND THEY WILL MURDER US ALL! WHY CAN'T YOU SEE THAT?! IF SHE HASN'T DONE ANYTHING THEN I AM SURE YOU AGREE SHE DESERVES THE MERCY I AM TO GIVE HER!"

'You insane Rukan, your just insane.' I conceded. He had won. He was in control of my body, and he had control over whatever they heard.

"You're going to die today, human."

She had her head down, looking at the floor.

"LOOK AT ME!" Rukan screamed at her. Another shadow tendril shot out and caught her in the forehead. It forced up her head, causing her to look at Rukan. She was crying. She obviously didn't want to die.

"Please," She whispered. "Please, don't kill Roque. Please! Kill me if you want, but don't kill him! PLEASE!" She yelled out, tears streaking down her face and plummeting to the ground. They came like rainfall; never letting up and never stopping.

"Isn't that cute? You both want the same thing. But who savors their own life more? The slave? Or the slave-owner?"

'Rukan, you're a monster.'

"No Ryun, I am not." He said. If I had my body, my eyes would have shot wide open and my body would have tensed. 'Don't say it, Rukan. Please, you can't do this!'

"I'm not the monster, because these are your thoughts, not mine." And to accentuate his words and make them worse, he turned around to face Shadow for the first time. She was pinned against the wall out of fear. She had probably backed up earlier but had nowhere to go. She had a look shock on her face and her eyes were wide. She was also mouthing something, but Rukan turned around again to stare at Roque and Sabrina. And they had the same looks on their faces. Then it occurred to me they were mouthing words too. All three were mouthing the same words, whether it was for different reasons or not, they all mouthed the same words.

Monster

**Not much to say about this one guys, other than it took me a long time to finish.**
