"Their Purpose"
The streets trembled as the beast proceeded into the town. It's one objective, ravage the city, however those plans were halted when a strange duo appeared in front of him .
"Think we can take him?"
Daren looked up as he rotated his arms and shoulders, getting them ready for what was to come.
"Hm, yeah I think so. We've taken on things bigger and smellier before."
After his arm exercises he stepped forward , his eyes met the monsters as if they were having a stare off.
"We don't want any trouble here, so we can do this the easy way or the hard way, it the medium way, or the medium way that can be hard, anyway it's your choice."
In a matter of second the beast made up it's mind, it large hand came flying down onto Daren, but it didn't expect what happened next. He had his palms gripped with both of his hands as he held up the large hand. With the pressure behind it he should have been crushed.
"How is he holding that up?" Julie exclaimed with amazement
"You haven't read up on vampires have you? In our human state we have human like strength, nothing much, however when we enter out true forms out strength increases ten fold. I've seen my brother life things twice that monsters weight."
"Anything I should know about you two?"
"Just watch and learn, you will see."
Daren held the hand up as he looked over to Jerel who already knew what to do. His body started morphing. He started growing fur, hooves, and big horns, in a matter of seconds he was a huge buffalo. His feet scratched the pavement as he changed, plowing right into the monster sending him away from Daren.
"Thanks bud."
"No problem, but damn he is a hard ass."
Growls came from the dust cloud before a large hand reached out and grabbed Jerel around his waist. He tried transforming but it wasn't working, the hand was squeezing the breathe right out of him.
"Hang on, I'm coming for ya."
From Darens hand formed a large rope of black fire, but it wasn't burning him in the slightest.
"Let me guess, you guys have your own weapons as well?"
"Mhm, that's Daren's, the Whip of Searing Flames."
She watched as he started twirling the rope in the air, the flames were raging above him before throwing it at the beasts arm.
"Sorry about this, but I'm just kind of a dick at times."
With one pull the whip burned straight through the monster's flesh, muscle and bone, his whip burned right through his arm. As Jerel caught his breathe the member dissolved into a black goop before disappearing into the ground.
"Thanks, well that's one limb down."
It let out a loud roar before it charged again, this time Daren was ready for it. Right when it's skull hit his chest he grabbed it by it's ears and started swinging it around and around before letting go, sending it down the street.
"He got lucky there, one more second and that creature would have crushed his body into the post office."
"But isn't he a vampire, he can't be killed except by a steak, garlic or holy water right?"
"Well your almost right, you see in your fairy tales those things kill us, but in reality only a steal can kill us and even then if we pull it out fast enough we will heal fast enough to survive. Garlic burns us and purified water paralyzes us, however there is one way for us to be killed and that's if another monster kills us."
She still didn't get it, why was she telling her all their weaknesses.
"I trust you Julie, so I trust you not to use these things against us."
Now it was angry, they could hear it's feet scraping the ground before it started charging again this time with all it's might.
"Jerel, think it's time to finish this?"
"I absolutely positively do."
As Daren held out his hand Jerel jumped into the air and what came down in his place was a sword. As they watched two black wings sprang from his back. He pressed the end of the hilt to his chest as his wing closed around his body only leaving the silver blade out in the open.
"What's his plan?"
"You will see, him and Jerel have been working together since they were seven, they know what they're doing."
As the beast charged to them the black cocoon started spinning, it started out slow but in a matter of seconds it was spinning faster than the tea cups at Disney Land. It was time to finish it off. It reached out and tried grabbing the black top but instead it's fingers flew off it's hand, landing on the ground below it. The time was right, they spun their way toward the beast as it roared in pain, it hadn't noticed until it was to late, the deadly spinning top was slicing through its flesh and through it's bones severing both of its legs from the knees down, sending it to the ground. Before it could react Daren jumped onto its back as fast as he could.
"Sorry about this, but I can't let you kill all these people can I? Glad we reached an agreement."
With a earth shaking punch he snapped the giants vertebra in half. That was it, as Jerel turned back to his normal self the giants body sank into the earth.
"And that's all she wrote."
In a split second they disappeared back into a cloud of black smoke.
"Do you understand now Julie, why we do this? Yes, it is dangerous, extremely dangerous but we do it to protect the human race. The monster attacks have been getting more frequently, we can't understand why when most choose to blend in with society."
It was still pretty strange knowing that three people at her high school were living breathing monsters, but it was stranger knowing that others out in the world are monsters like them.
