Chapter 2

"Will he be alright?"

"We don't know. We've never seen such a strong reaction to teleportation as that, and don't know how to deal with it."

"Do you even have an inkling of an idea of what happened?"

"He appears to have been... stuck to something, but we can't find it. Only metal and Uriol can cause that much pain in a teleportation, and we did sense metal, but not nearly enough to cause that level of pain."

"Where is the metal?"

"Around his neck."

Something warm touched my neck and pulled out my necklace.

"This is beautifully carved stone. Have you scanned it yet?"

"No. I shall do so now."

"Let's hope he lives. This one is strange."

-

My eyes popped open of their own accord, and I was staring directly into a pair of glowing purple eyes.

"So, you have finally graced us with your consciousness." A soft, light voice said.

I didn't respond. I was enraptured by the eyes of the speaker. My vision began to swirl around them, and suddenly I seemed to fall forwards, into the eyes.

I was in a plain of... blue and yellow grass. There was a young...lion standing in front of me with the same eyes as the speaker back in the hospital room. The little lion looked at me.

"Hello! What's your name? I'm Silvin. You look strange, are you not from here? Where are your parents? Who are you?"

The endless flood of questions overwhelmed me, and I fell to the ground.

"Are you alright?"

"Y-yes I'm fine. My name is Aaron, and I'm from Earth. My parents are... I don't know where they are."

"well, that's weird. Do you wanna pl..."

Silvin's voice grew distant as I seemed to be pulled back, and I was suddenly falling. Right back into my body, and staring at those purple eyes. Silvin seemed immune to what just happened, but when I fell back I gasped.

"Silvin."

"What?! How did you know my name.?"

"Y-you told me. Remember? In the field with blue and yellow grass."

Silvin started. "How did you know?"

Another voice interrupted. " Talking to the patient already Silvin?"

The purple eyes disappeared and Silvin responded in a quiet voice I couldn't hear.

"Go do your work Silvin, I will speak with you later."

I looked over as a bear watched Silvin wander away dejectedly. Then the bear turned to me. His eyes were blue with red veins running through it, and they seemed a little distracted. Then he focused on me and approached.

"I see you have finally woken up. Are you able to stand?"

"I-I think so."

"Good."

I attempted to stand. My legs were a little wobbly, but I could support my own weight easily enough. The bear began walking away, so I followed.

"This is the infirmary, you were here because of the injuries you sustained in the teleport... incident."

"What injuries? I feel fine."

"Well... no really injuries, but you have been...changed. Look in the mirror."

I turned to where he pointed and gasped in surprise. Everything was exactly the same, except for my eyes. They had always been a rather vivid green color, but now my eyes were ENTIRELY green, with literally nothing but green and golden veins twisting through them, and they were glowing. I was amazed. My eyes were awesome!

"Holy shit! That's awesome!"

Emotionless void. Emotion is pain. I pushed all of my emotions back, and in the mirror my eyes stopped glowing. Strange... emotion must control the light. I turned to the bear, and he seemed surprised that my eyes had stopped glowing.

"How did you do that?" he asked in what seemed to be amazement.

My response was curt. "I pushed my emotions back. Emotion is pain, the only time I don't hurt is when I use the emotionless void."

" Bottling up your emotions is dangerous, you shouldn't do that." He responded with worry.

"I don't bottle my emotions. I push them out. There is a difference." I responded with no inflection.

He just stared at me. " Follow me, I will show you your quarters."

"If I may ask, where are we going? And where are we?"

"We are on the Aurora, heading for Polin 6. An outer rim planet where you will be re-situated with our race."

"Where is my father?"

"I am sorry... he did not survive the teleport. He had a very advanced case of liver cancer"

The news shocked me. I felt a deep pang of sadness, and no matter how hard I pushed it wouldn't go away. I could see on the dimly lit walls that my eyes had begun to glow again. Brightly.

He was all I had left. He didn't care for me all that much. Not since my mother died, but I still loved him. Deep down. I slumped against the wall, then slid to the floor and started sobbing. I was embarrassed beyond belief, crying in front of a stranger, but the sadness quickly replaced all feelings other than it. A pair of arms encircled me, and I smelled an almost overwhelming scent of cinnamon. The bear was hugging me, but I just broke into more tears, crying on his shoulder. He was trying to console me, but I had fallen into the darkest pits of despair, and was trapped there.

The bear picked me up and carried me down the hall, opening a door at the end, and carrying me into a crowded room. I felt a small pang of embarrassment, but it once again faded away under the waves of grief.

"Alex! I need your help!" The bear almost yelled at a nearby kangaroo. The kangaroo hopped up and took me when the bear held me out.

"Would you mind if he stayed at your place. I don't trust him alone."

The kangaroo shared a look with the bear, and just hopped off with me in his arms, sobbing into his shoulder. I was carried through empty halls, and rooms full of people, but I hardly took notice. Eventually I was carried into a living room, and then through and adjoining door into a bland room with a bed in the corner. The kangaroo layed me down and I curled up into a fetal position, still being wracked with sobs.

Why me? Why did this happen to me? Why was I being transferred to a new planet for reasons unknown? Why did my life have to turn out like this?

Then I saw something. It was a door, just in my minds eye, but beyond this door was ice. Blissful ice. Emotionless. I walked through the door. My emotions disappeared, the fire in my eyes died, and I was forever locked in blissful emotionlessness.

-

Alex was surprised. The human had just suddenly stopped crying. His eyes had stopped glowing to, and when I looked more closely, they appeared to be...dead. The human was breathing, his eyes moved, but there was nothing in them. They were empty.

He immediately grew worried, and ran out of the room to the comm. system.

"Jinil, theres something wrong with the human."

"Is he still crying?"

"No... he has the look of a dead person, but he still breathes. His eyes are glassy, almost lifeless."

"I'll be right there. Watch him for me and make sure he doesn't do anything stupid."
