#7 of Wolf Heat

Ok so here it is part 2. I still count this as an individual chapter just so you know. That makes this chapter 7 :) Hope you enjoy it considering the cliffhanger from pt.1.

WELCOME HOME PT.2

Ok recap: Finding and getting trapped a valley with a hellish forest full of bees, check. Saving unknown female from rapist bear, check. Giving former mentioned female a piggyback ride back to her territory, check. Getting tackle down and pinned to the ground by her pack, check.

During the period of a few seconds Ventus went through the events that had gotten him into this, on his back, pinned down by a gang of wolves that had their jaws around his legs, sides and throat, his vulnerable underbelly exposed to the world.

Ventus felt panic growing, a cold feeling in his chest. But he forced himself to remain still, he didn't struggle cause then they might just tear him apart.

He watched as two very old wolves approached him. One was a male and had probably once in his youth been as big and muscular as Terra, but age had made his body shriveled and weak. His once brown fur was now mostly gray and white and he had even lost a lot of fur, leaving bald spots. The other one was a female, though just as old looking she had a beautiful white fur coat covering her entire body.

The other wolves respectfully made way for the old couple so that they could reach Ventus and his captors.

'Who are you?' The old wolf male asked in a deep calm voice, tracing just a hint of anger.

'I'm Ventus!' Ventus replied, his concentration still lingering at the wolves holding him down.

'Ventus... Where do you come from?' The old wolf asked taking just a moment to think over Ventus answer.

'Huh? I come from Terra's pack, south-west from here...!' Ventus stopped in his tracks. Had he just said that he came from Terra's pack? Both the old wolves and the ones holding him down was out of his mind as it went 100mph trying to figure out what he had just stated.

'Fine, Ventus from the pack of Terra. What is your business here?' The old wolf asked next, but Ventus mind was somewhere else and he didn't answer. That is, until the wolf that had his jaws around Ventus throat add pressure snapping him back to reality.

'Answer him!' The wolf hissed through his teeth before releasing some pressure.

Ventus gasped for air and was just about to answer when he was cut of by Tenacis.

'Elders he helped me. The only rezone that he is here is that I got hurt on my quest and he chose to help me.' She told them, a hint of desperation showing in her respectful tone of voice.

The two old wolves' attention was now directed at the wounded Tenacis lying not to far from them.

'Is that so? And did you finish the test, dear?' The old wolf female asked in a soft, calm voice. Yet it was very clear that Tenacis had spoken when she was not suppose to.

Tenacis was quiet for a moment, thinking over how she was going to answer. Then she smirked.

'No. But he did.' She said and then everyone's attention was back to Ventus. The air got full of surprised mumbles and expressions of disbelieve.

The old wolf looked closely at Ventus.

'Yes, yes. I can see it now. Quite impressing indeed... Ventus, for helping one of ours in an hour of need I see it only fit that we spare your life.' He announced. That made several wolves in the pack object loudly, snarling and barking.

'SILENCE!!!' The old wolf shouted in an outburst of power that seemed above his seemly abilities. All the wolves went dead silent, accepting that his words stood.

Ventus had relaxed somewhat when he heard the alphas decision. Yet still it was odd that the pack had such old alphas. Under normal circumstances they would have been replaced for a younger generation years ago. As the old pair turned to leave, the female took an appreciating look at Ventus sheath, which was now exposed seeing how his tail was no longer tucked between his legs, though it quickly went back there as Ventus turned red under his fur.

'Oh, don't worry dear. I've seen my chare of boys in my days.' The old female chuckled.

'Lady, that was more then I needed to know.' Ventus replied as he was finally released and turned over onto his paws. The wolves that had been holding him down backed away from him as he got up.

Before the old pair leaved, the female turned to Tenacis.

'Oh, and Tenacis. Welcome home.' She said smiling at the young wolf.

Ventus walked up to Silex and Calculi, the two wolves that had attacked him earlier, they both seemed nervous but tried to hide it.

'If you ever do that again, I'll kill you!' Ventus snarled at them before moving past them and stopping next to Tenacis.

'Quite a home coming they have here. Sorry I stole all the spotlight.' Ventus said looking down at her.

'That's ok...So what will you do now?' She asked him.

'I suppose I should try and get something to eat.' Ventus answered. Then a voice behind him got his attention.

'Then hunt with us.' A black and brown male wolf said. He seemed to be slightly older then Ventus, and was also bigger and more muscular.

'No thanks. I'm still not sure that I'm not on the menu.' Ventus said and started walking.

'Come on. That was my sister you saved, it's the least I can do.' The wolf continued. When Ventus didn't reply he added:

'Afraid I'll outshine ya?'

Ventus stopped and turned his head to the wolf, smirking.

'You're on!'

***

Through the woods a pack of wolves were scouting for preys. The one leading this hunt was not the alpha male of the pack, but a high ranking one in the packs hierarchy. That was probably the only rezone he could convince the others to let an outsider in on the hunt.

Next to him ran the wolf named Ventus, which had saved his sister Tenacis. But to be fair that was not the rezone why he was with them, the wolf thought. He just wanted to see what he got.

'By the way, I'm Virtus!' Virtus barked at Ventus.

'Virtus? How about we take presentation after the hunt? Always been more talkative on a full stomach!' Ventus replied.

'Huh, fair enough.' Virtus barked and started picking up speed.

After a while they finally caught the sent of a deer and started following the invisible tracks. They followed it's sent for about 20-25 minutes to were the vegetation was lighter before they heard it. The wolves looked up turning their ears back and forth to find the correct direction of the sound. It had been a clacking noise probably created when the deer stepped on a rock.

They approached carefully, five furry shadows moving across grass and pebbles, the excitement of the hunt had caught them all and the adrenaline was pumping. By the time they could see the deer with its head bowed to the ground munching grass, some of them could feel that they had to control themselves so that their heartbeats wouldn't give them away. The thrill of the hunt was something that could only have an equal in the pleasures of mating, and more then a few wolves would say that it really had no equal.

Virtus might just be one of those wolves. Even do he found sex to be an astonishing experience, he had come to the conclusion that the hunt was even more so.

Virtus had pitch-black fur on his back also covering most of his tail and an almost creamy brown colure covering his sides and belly fur. His colures and patterns looked a lot like his sisters Tenacis, but he was bigger and also more muscular. Not to say that his sister was a weakling, far from it. She had been known to occasionally managing with the task of wrestling him down, and she never ever gave up. She had also one day in the way sisters can do causally telling him that he looked handsome, so he assumed it was true. He really didn't know how to judge male appearance.

The pack had taken cover in the vegetation, keeping their bodies pressed against the ground. With a muffled bark he got their attention and with a series of nods he sent them to their positions.

Silex was the first to attack, launching at the deer with a growl that sent it running. Next Calculi launched out in front of the deer, making it turn. The wolves had position themselves in such a way that forced the deer to run in a circle tiring itself out until it was surrounded.

The wolves created a quickly closing circle around the deer until they had it trapped, but then came the hard part. Virtus had hopped that they would already had made some serious damage to the deer, but it had avoided their attacks and even though tired and scared, still fit for a fight.

Even though they had it surrounded and outnumbered it still posed a threat, it had sharp horns and every wolf knew the danger of its kicks. The fact that it was surrounded made it even more dangerous, and the wolves circled it for the right opportunity to attack. They were very careful as every damage it would inflicted on them would jeopardize their chance of survival. That was how things worked in the wild; damage made you less able to hunt, to defend yourself, less able to survive.

So the wolves were very cautious, making fake attacks and biting after it. Eventually Calculi managed to jump on to it back, biting on to its neck. But then the deer leaped over the circle of wolves and dashed away with Calculi still hanging on to it.

Virtus immediately ran after it, he noticed Ventus running up beside him.

'Hey Ventus, you better stay back and leave this to the professionals!' He barked at him, but not in an angry way, sooner self-promoting.

Ventus smiled in response.

'Race you!' He said and picked up some speed.

Virtus laughed. A challenge was just what he wanted. He also picked up speed, his paws pounding against the ground. The rest of the pack followed but couldn't keep up the same speed.

Calculi couldn't hold on to the deer and fell off. Hitting the ground in front of the two wolves that had to leap over him to avoid colliding. Virtus looked back to make sure that Calculi made it out alright, and then his concentration was back on the hunt.

They both closed in to the deer, Virtus being in the lead. He could almost taste the victory. But then suddenly Ventus caught up, sprinting past Virtus with ease.

Ventus launched at the deer and manage to close his jaws around its hind leg, sending it flying to the ground.

That was it, and soon the wolves had it circled once again, but this time it couldn't escape and the wolves dealt the final blow. The deer struggled as fangs and claws ripped through its flesh, but it didn't struggle for long as its wounds became fatal.

The five hungry wolves sank their teeth into the dead deer, ripping out soft pieces of warm flesh.

Virtus looked up at Ventus moments later.

'So now you've eaten. Feel any more talkative?' He asked.

Ventus looked up from the carcass.

'Yeh, sure.'

Virtus smiled.

'Good, then the elders wants to see you.'

To be continuing...

Yes it will be continuing, but not at the next chapter because I personally wonder what's going on at Terra's pack. But then we'll be back with Ventus so don't forget this chapter.

I will need to do some planning for the next chapter so it might take a while.

Seems to me however like Ventus might have found a rival, eh?

The new names this far (still on Latin) means:

Tenacis: Stubborn

Virtus: Courage

Calculi: pebble, stone

Silex: pebble, stone (same as Calculi with other words)
