(Well here is the classic disclaimer: Though this chapter has no yiff in it, I do plan to have it, in future chapter. If it is illegal for you to read such things, then please go no further. Also, this is going to be relationships between two, Adult males. The setting, in truth, isn't completely mine. The setting is based off of Bioware's Dragon Age, Universe. Though I plan to change the world to suit the needs of the story, so the world is mearly based off of the universe, not set in it. Also, all of the character, unless if I note otherwise, are mine, and you may not use them, without my express permission. Another note, the title is based off of the song, 'Cry for the Moon' by Epica. http://youtu.be/Dys1_TuUmI4 . I do not have claim over that title.)

A biting cold wind tossed threw the abandoned streets of a small town. The nearly abandoned streets. A lone figure, pulled it's cloak close. It was a frail form, and the later November wind, blew through it, much like the figure was nothing more then a specter. The cloaked Avian looked behind it's shoulder, it's bitter gaze level with the street. Standing barely above 5 foot, the thin owl, normally wouldn't be something to be afraid of. It could easily be broken, much like a twig. It would have been an easy target, if it wasn't for two things, clearly identifying it. The tall and gnarled staff, in it's hand, was the first clue, indicating that this owl wasn't anyone to mess with. The second, an highly decorated robes, was currently concealed, behind the thick cloak, that was attempting to keep the petite owl from being frozen solid. And the look on it's face, clearly indicated that the cloak was not doing an adequate job of doing so.

The owl continued it's path, into town, the gnarled staff currently being used as a walking stick. The staff, was much larger then the owl, standing nearly half a foot, above his head. But the staff itself, was nearly ornamental. One didn't want to mess with a mage, at any distance. To anger a magic user, was to be flirting with death. The owl was currently companion-less, which was an unusual sight, for a mage, of any potency. Though currently, no one would want to point this out, to the owl.

The owl gently pushed open the door to the town's only drinking establishment, and inn. The once loud, and rowdy establishment, quieted down, and eerie silence formed over the mostly inebriated crowd. The owl gave a disinterested look, before making over to the large innkeep. "I would like a room, for the night." The owl, said, his voice, a soft, but clearly male, tenor. It had a detached, if almost monotone, tone.

The portly pig, gave a snort. "Ain't got no room, for your kind." The swine said, with a disgusted scowl. The owl simply dusted off his cloak, wrapping it tightly around him, again. He just wasn't able to banish the infernal chill.

"You would turn away, a paying customer?" The owl asked, his expression neutral, but there was a hint of disgust, in his tone. The owl gave a glance around. Most of the predominately mammalian crowd, turned away, not wanting to make eye contact with the mage. Their narrow-mindedness, and blind superstitions, disgusted him, but it wasn't something shown on his face.

The owl turned around, his apathetic gaze, landing on the boar, when he spoke. "I do not,do business, with your kind, Mage. I will only talk with your Templar." The bloated pig said, his face a disgusting snarl. The owl tilted his head up, looking down on the pig, even though the Innkeeper was several inches taller, then him.

"Fine." The mage, said, his avian eye's narrowing, before turning around, his drab cloak, twirling behind him, as he marched out, into the street.

Behind him, a large wolf drained his drink, and stood up, staggering after the mage. "Yyou. Deamon. Sstop." The tall wolf, said, stumbling after the owl.

The owl continued on his way, ignoring the obviously, drunk, wolf. The canine made a stumbling motion, running after the mage, grabbing a hold of the owl, halting him. "You should l-listen, to your betters, you feathered freak." The large wolf said, snarling. He had harshly grabbed a hold of the mages cloak, tugging him back, when the mage attempted to break free.

"Let go of me." The mage's voice was deathly still, barely above a whisper. His voice had this chill, that pierced the very depths of one soul, but the wolf just laughed it off, the numerous cheap ales, warming his heart, and making him irrational.

"You arre a blight on this fair land. An a...a...affront to the..uh, Lord. We should have cleansed our land of all of the Circles a long time, ago. Your kind doesn't desirve to exist, freak. I'm going to send you to what ever, deamon you originated from." Wolf drunkenly snarled, as he harshly turned around the mage. He let go of the owl, to let out of his drunk rage, on the mage.

As the owl spun around, he mutter something unrecognizable, in a language that the drunken wolf, wouldn't have recognize. His right palm glowed, with faint, blue light. Suddenly, the wolf's eye widened, as the blue light formed a glow orb, and slowly unwrap, snaking around the surprised canine. The canine's eyes froze, opened wide. The owl took a step back, folding his scrawny arms, a look of disgust, written across his face. "A fool." He muttered.

The owl heard the sound of running, a voice shouted out from a near by alley. "What have you done?" The voice said, obviously male, and surprised. The owl stood still, his arms still folded, as an otter trotted near, a look of surprise written across his face. He had an opened mouth stare, that made the otter look like, a fish out of water. The owl's disgusted look faded as soon as the otter was in view, a cold, uncaring look replacing the previous expression. "I..is he?" The otter squeaked his eyes wide.

The owl gave an uncaring snort, "He'll be fine." The owl said. The wolf's pride, might be wounded, if he even remembered what happened. The owl turned, to leave. He figured that he could possibly find a quiet hayloft to sleep in. It wasn't the first time the mage had done that, and it wouldn't be the last time. The mage heard shuffling behind him, and he saw the otter following him.

"Why didn't you kill him?" The otter asked, his voice having the quivering, but he had this.. child-like curiosity. The mage shook his head.

"And what would solved? He was obviously drunk." The mage's tone was sharp, almost like a strict teacher, lecturing a misbehaving student. "By the time, the spell is lifted, he wouldn't know what way I went, and by the time he is any shape to track me down, I'll be gone." The mage said simply

The otter was silent, but the mage could still hear him following the owl. The mage wanted to tsk. Why was this mustelid following him? The mage didn't trust the otter, for one second. He had got a good look at the otter. He was taller then the avian, which wasn't hard, and broader, but again most of the population was taller and broader then him. The otter had rough hew clothing, like on you would see on a hunter, maybe even a trapper. The otter's fur, was possibly a dark brown. Though in the low lighting, it could haven even been a lighter shade then what the owl had guessed.

"Why are you following me?" The mage turned suddenly, staring at the aquatic mammal. The otter didn't make direct eye contact, staring at his hind paws, shifting uncomfortably. The owl crossed his arms, defensively. He peered at the mammal, expecting an answer, from him. The answer the otter gave, caused the owl to sputter.

"I-I want to learn about magic."

(Well, there is is. Please, any constructive critizism would be welcome. I will start on the next chapter soon.)
