Can't Keep My Eyes Off of Him (Part 8/8)

Xavier parked his car in the corner of the lot. They had already arrived a little late, since they hit so many traffic lights. The last space available was the furthest one. Dylan and Xavier prepared to walk across the campus to get to their first class: English. After retrieving their things, they left the car and proceeded.

On the walk, Dylan's claw swung back and forth slightly, until it collided with Xavier's paw. They grasped each other, giving small smiles. There was almost nobody outside of a classroom. Students were rushing to their classes because they were late or were too tired to notice anything. Xavier breathed a sigh of relief. Finally, they reached the English wing, finding their classroom.

They walked inside, and heard everyone gasp. Even the teacher, Ms. Visor, had her eyes opened wide. Dylan cast a confused glance at the Xavier, who suddenly shifted his line of sight to his left paw, still connected to the dragon. They both let go quickly, blushing furiously. They looked around for seats, but couldn't find any except for the two next to each other in the exact center of the classroom. When they realized that they would have to sit together in the center, their faces turned an even darker shade of red, almost matching Ms. Visor's tail feathers. A few of their classmates whistled, some of the girls said "Aw...!" Ms. Visor smiled warmly, and introduced their topic, as well as reviewing the subjunctive tense homework.

Dylan felt a familiar desire to stare at the otter again. "I'm already freaking dating him, why do I still want to look at him?!" he screamed inside his mind. Suddenly, he felt the otter's paw on top of his, under the table. He blushed again. He could feel the heat rising in his face. But instead of turning over to stare at him, he simply sat in his seat, contently knowing that Xavier was there. For the first time in many weeks, he was able to pay attention in class.

Dylan squirmed in his seat in history. "Just three more hours," he told himself, "Three more hours until I get to see my otter again"

"Mr. Dyer!" shouted Mr. Hicks, "Can you please tell me the effects of Clay's American System?"

"Uh..." Dylan racked his brains, scratching his head with a claw. "Oh, this is something that Xavier's good at!" he thought to himself. "Oh Xavier," he sighed dreamily.

"Xavier?" Mr. Hicks asked. "You think that the American System furthered the development of Xavier?"

A few of his classmates giggled. They had seen them holding paws, the way the dragon always stares at him dreamily. "I will assume you simply spent too much time studying last night, and didn't get enough sleep," Hicks said sternly.

"Um... yeah..." Dylan said, eager for an escape from his predicament.

"I hope things work out between you two, by the way"

Dylan blushed again, turning the same color as his red binder.

The bell rang, signaling freedom from Logan High, or at least a free afternoon. Students poured out of classrooms, eager to go home. Dylan and Xavier stayed after school. Despite being extremely knowledgeable in their math class, they had fallen behind slightly in the past few weeks. Staring at each other really detracted from their focus in class. They were in the classroom, doing extra problems their teacher assigned.

After an hour of catching up, they were ready to leave. "Bye, Dr. Crane," they said, as they exited. Said teacher was still at her desk, grading tests to give a lively response. She waved instead. As soon as they were outside, Xavier gave his mate a hug.

"What was that for?" asked Dylan with a smile.

"Well, while we were doing those problems, I thought about going home, and then I realized that home was with you!" he stated happily.

Dylan grinned. He clasped the otter's paw in his claw and they walked back to the parking lot. There were no cars there, except for a few teachers'. Everyone had already left, and the sun was going down. They ambled along the fenced walkway.

Suddenly, a loud snarl froze them in place. Dylan turned around, and to his horror, saw Blitz standing menacingly over them. Xavier spun around as well, and squeaked. Behind Blitz was a small hare. Although Flare always hung out with him, no one really knew why. Flare seemed just as shy and introverted as Xavier, if not more. He looked nervous. "So it's true, huh?" the wolf growled.

"Um... what's true?" asked Dylan trying not to show his fear.

"That you two are dating?"

"Yes, yes we are," stated the dragon confidently.

"See, I told you!" whispered Flare loudly, elbowing the wolf.

"Cool, 'cause uh... we are too..." said Blitz.

Dylan's jaw dropped. Xavier stood still, blinking and looking dumbfounded.

Flare smiled a bit, and hopped into Blitz's arms, who promptly picked him up. "We've been dating for a couple of months now," explained Flare.

Blitz nodded. "Yup, I guess we're not the only ones anymore!"

Dylan and Xavier looked at each other, still shocked.

To Dylan's surprise, the four of them became fast friends. They stayed in the parking lot, and started chatting, albeit quite awkwardly at first. They had a lot in common, and shared stories of how they became a couple. "So, you two got to know each other at a party?" asked Dylan.

"Yup," replied Blitz.

Dylan and Xavier nodded. Nothing was said. "Awkward..." Dylan thought.

Suddenly, Flare elbowed the wolf again. Blitz looked confused for a second, and then perked up. "Oh, uh..." he started, "I'd just like to say that I'm sorry that I was kind of mean to you guys earlier in the year..."

Dylan ducked to avoid being spit on by Xavier, but he wasn't drinking any tea.

"R-really?" asked Xavier, still quite skeptical.

"Yeah, see, my little wolf is a bit sensitive about what other people think about him!" Flare said happily. Blitz's cheeks turned slightly red, and he coughed quietly.

"Oh," said Dylan, "I understand..."

The sun was setting though, and the four of them needed to part. They said their goodbyes, and parted ways. Blitz and Flare walked home, with the bunny still in the larger wolf's arms. Dylan and Xavier opened the car doors. They were about to get in when Flare shouted back at them.

"Call us if you ever want to have an orgy!" he yelled.

Dylan ducked behind the door.

Xavier wrapped his arms around Dylan's neck. The dragon had his own arms plastered around the otter's lower back. "Last time I took you out, so this time it's your turn. You owe me a date, Xavy..." he said.

"I know... Hey wait...Xavy?"

"Yeah. I can't call you darling forever, can I?"

"I was hoping you could..." Xavier said, slightly pouting.

"How about I call you both, my darling Xavy?"

Xavier giggled. "Sure thing, my loving Draggy"

Dylan chuckled. He leaned forward, connecting their muzzles. Their tongues slipped around each other, reenacting a dance that had been performed many times before. Dylan softly and slowly raked his claws through Xavier's fur. The otter stroked the scales on the dragon's sides. Xavier pulled away slightly. "I love you, my loving Draggy," he whispered.

"I love you too, my darling Xavy"

Yay, it's done!

Hopefully, you didn't think it was too bad... Well, Rate/Review please, as always...

This was my first story, so be gentle... >:

Sorry if the entire part seemed a bit rushed...Not trying to be all "Deus Es Machina" here, but it was difficult ending it. It might seem that way, sorry... (Look up "Deus Es Machina" if you don't know what it means) Also, I apologize for the wait. But it's the last part, so yay!

And for those of you who've been wondering:

I will not stop writing stories, although they may or may not be continuations of the Dylan/Xavier relationship.

Thank y'all for reading! ^.^
