A short encyclopedia entry about Farmier, the world in which my text game, Drakkon, takes place.

Overview

Farmier is a planet with a single super-continent that covers roughly 45% of the planet's surface. The primary four species of Farmier are the Dwrain, Humans, Lagric, and Dragons. The planet's surface ranges from sub-Arctic conditions in the far North and South to deserts and savanahs at the Equator.

Species

There are four main species who call Farmier home. In order of decreasing technology: Dwrain, Humans, Lagric, and Dragons.

Dwrain

The Dwrain are physically unimpressive. They are short and heavy built, similar to Dwarves though without their strength and skill with stone. The Dwrain make up for their lack of physical ability with an intelligence unmatched by any other species. They have successfully developed anti-gravity, fusion, and plasma technology. Their style of architecture is clean and minimalist, with plasma and energy conduits often visible.

The Dwrain enjoy good relations with the Humans, but see the Lagric as little more the pests to be exterminated if they become a problem. Diplomatic relations with the Dragons are tense but civil, when there are any at all.

For more information, see the Dwrain article.

Humans

Humans are a mid-ground between the intelligence of the Dwrain and the physical prowess of the Lagric. Humans live in a feudal state, with kings and queens being head of state. Technology consists of basic construction and metal work, allowing for swords, armour, and other simple weapons and tools.

The Humans enjoy good relations with the Dwrain, who potential in them to become equals, and an uneasy truce with the Lagric, who have agreed to stay away from Humans in exchange for the same.

Humans, however, do not have good relations with Dragons, who frequently raid Human settlements for metals, food, and sometimes just for fun.

For more information, see the Human article.

Lagric

The Largric are a race of beastmen, tribal in nature and relatively unadvanced. They're physical abilities are greater then the other species (with the exception of Dragons). Common weapons are clubs, sticks, and whatever the Lagric can steal from the other species, though Dwrain technology is designed with safety mechanisms to prevent it from being used by anyone who is not a Dwrain.

The Lagric have poor relations with all the other species. Humans and Dwrain usually kill them on sight, and the Dragons pay them little attention unless they are attempting to steal something.

For more information, see the Lagric article.

Dragons

Dragons are the dominent force in Farmier, not by physical strength or technology, but through their control of magic. Dragons are tied to the land, and can access and manipulate the energy found in nature. The power a grown Dragon can wield is greater then any Dwrain technology, and can defeat all current Dwrain defenses. The only other species who has shown any ability to harness the natural energies are Humans, who lack the ability to control the energies once accessed.

The Dragons have cool relations with the Dwrain, recognizing that a fight between the two sides would likely end both their races (The Dwrain vastly outnumber the Dragons). Dragons frequently terrorize Humans and they pay the Lagric little attention.
