Doulos Laboratories, meeting room

There were twelve men of various species, all of them were neatly dressed in the standard company security uniforms. Their attention was caught by the panthress who stood at the head of the table. Because of the lab coat, glasses and notebook, she bore every resemblance to your stereotypical portray of a scientist by Hollywood.

"All right gentlemen, if everybody's ready, let's begin. I invited all of you here today so that we can briefly go over the entire experiment you were all assigned to. As most of you may know, the company intends to launch a novel method of slave behavior control. Several breakthroughs have been made, but in order to convince the board and public of its efficacy we need to demonstrate it. We will use the new method on the wolf that was brought in earlier today, should it proof successful then we'll have removed any and all existing doubts about it."

Of course none of which she told so far was new to the security guards, it was the first time ever that they have seen a wolf, not counting those seen on television, and word travels fast when unusual things happen.

"The treatment is scheduled for next week, so basically we have a wild wolf on our hands until then. For those of you who think this won't be too much of a problem, consider the following: a wild wolf who has never seen another sentient species except for other wolves, whose peak of technology is a campfire, sleeps in caves and has never worn anything but a loincloth suddenly wakes up in a strange world where just about everything is new to him. Not to mention of course that he does so after being drugged and restrained and missing his second most important body part for self-defense. Situations like these tend to stress an animal even when it is sentient. I think we all know what the results were of past attempts to tame or train wolves, but in case you don't, I think I can summarize it in a single word for you: disaster."

The buff males smirked to that.

"Luckily the wolves still speak Common, like practically all of their traditions their language hasn't changed over the centuries. You won't be talking much to the wolf though, but every now and then you may have to feed it or do other routine tasks. Remember, just feeding and 'maintaining' the wolf throughout the week won't be enough. In order to really proof that we were successful we need to perform some tests beforehand as well as afterwards. Don't worry, you won't have to perform the tests yourselves, but I want you to be familiar with what we're going to do so that you know what to expect. "

Six wooden blocks the size of tennis balls were put on the table by the scientist.

"One of the tests we'll repeat many times is the 'persistent compliancy test', but it's a pretty complicated name for such a simple test. We'll ask the wolf to build a pyramid with these blocks, and depending on the way we ask or persuade him and the way he reacts, we'll give it a score. The higher the score the more compliant the subject is. I won't tire you with all the variables and approaches, but just remember that the higher the score the better..."

Meanwhile, a stone's throw farther, the lupine had woken up. The tantrum that followed had alarmed the employee on observation duty, who didn't waste his time and immediately contacted Dr. Hughes. The kind doctor's meeting was ended in less than a minute after her pocket vibrated.

The wolf was furious, enraged and confused! The wolf was scared and afraid. The wolf felt so many things at the same time that he didn't really know what he was doing. He could vaguely remember being captured, and what had previously felt like dreams he now realized were glimpses of what they had done with him. He remembered glimpses of being hauled away and put into a cage, and glimpses of cats and foxes while he was laying down on a cold metal table which seemed to be moving down a long building. The wolf had realized they were all true when he woke up here, had felt the leather restraining his snout, and saw the strange grey walls that were neither rock nor wood.

His first and most primal reaction was to escape, something that didn't proof quite successful. The only exit was barred by a metal door. Even with the claws he once had he probably could not have opened it. He had tried everything he could, but when the door didn't even budge the slightest he resigned to a corner of the room, overcome by the fear and emotions running through his head. He huddled himself together, hugging his knees and keeping his ears and tail as close to his body as he could. The wolf whined and rocked slowly, whishing it was all just a bad dream. If you listened carefully you could sometimes hear muffled words escaping his encased muzzle, words his mother sang to him when he was little.

In any other situation a canine's ears would have perked after hearing the sudden metal clank produced by the door that now opened. At every other time one's eyes would move to meet the sight of the people that came through. Being at any other place the wolf's attention would be caught by the feint smell of food that was on those people. But the wolf's mind was too busy wishing and denying to register his surroundings.

Three people came in, panthress dressed in white and two lynxes clad in dark-blue. Both lynxes were equipped with stun sticks, sedative and a set of restraints. The panthress squatted in fronted of the wolf, looked at him for a few second and turned to the guards.

"He's in shock"
