The sharp pain of a hard punch to my stomach sent the air in my lungs rushing out causing tears to well up in the corners of my eyes. Looking around I saw a large grey wolf, a blank panther, and looking up I saw the alligator sneering down at me. "What's wrong faggot, can't handle a little rough love", stated the wolf landing another punch to my stomach. I opened my mouth to say something kicking my legs only to feel his fist line up a strike to my jaw drawing blood from my now busted lip. "Stephen the principal, he's coming", the panther said in a low but worried voice. The alligator released his grip dropping me down to my feet just as the grey wolf punched me again bloodying my nose.

The three bullies quickly darted down the small alleyway between the mechanic shop class and ROTC junior marine corp building leaving me there on one knee crying and coughing as my blood stained the cement. The principal, who patrolled the spaces between the buildings sometimes stopped in front of me. "Don't be late to class Mr. Kusa", this was all he said as he continued patrolling the alleyways. I was used to the treatment; teachers and staff were just as homophobic as the students. I wanted to be transferred to a different school but leaving my friends behind I felt was not an option so I stayed. After going to a nearby restroom to clean up, I walked to my first period meeting up outside the classroom with a couple of my friends. They're faces silent and staring at me with worry. "Rayn what happened to your face", asked a tall Clydesdale? Her name was Trina or Trii for short and though she was a sweet and gentle horse she also has quite the reputation for putting people in their places. Next to her stood Colin a slender desert fox his coat showing in hues of brown and tan just like the desert sand. The bell rang before I could say anything to them and we went inside taking our normal seats.

The day continued without incident until school ended so I collected my things and walked off towards the theater department where nobody but drama club usually met. As I took the final turn before reaching the stairs I saw Colin sitting there with his head in his paws his sobs only audible to me and the concrete walls. "Colin are you okay what's wrong", I asked approaching him cautiously kneeling on one knee in front of him. Colin looked up and I could see the fur under his eyes was soaked, he said nothing to me for what felt like hours. Shaking his head he stood up taking my paw in his helping me to my feet as well. I opened my mouth to say something but cut short by a forceful kiss his muzzle against mine making me gasp and moan out blushing. He pushed me against the wall his paws rubbing and sliding down my chest pulling up my shirt and fumbling at my belt. I felt my pants tighten from the tent I was pitching as I was almost lost in the moment placing my paws on his chest and pushing Colin back. Colin looked at me tears streaming down his cheeks; he turned and ran off leaving me speechless and with a raging hard on.

Waiting for my ride I remained puzzled by the day's earlier events which were fresh in my mind. Zeke gave me a ride home his attempts to draw a conversation from me left without answer. Arriving home I walked in noticing that I was alone in the house. I walked in turning on the light until I reached my room dropping my stuff onto the floor then undressing myself. Continuing to ponder the recent events I walked into the kitchen and saw a note on the fridge the message reading "pack your things Rayn we are moving soon." Tears formed in the corner of my eyes as the thought of leaving my friends behind entered my mind. I walked into my room stopping in front of my closet, reaching inside I pulled out a shoe box under a pile of clothes sitting down on my bed and opening it. Pulling out several photographs and a journal I sifted through the pictures seeing my and Colin in third grade. The memories played in my mind like an ancient home movie.

I walked around the neighborhood trying to keep my sobs silent while tears ran down my cheeks. "I can't believe I just did that, such an idiot", I thought to myself as I turned on Brower wood Drive, my street. My mind continued to wander while the dark clouds that had gathered above me began to release their liquid. The cold air making the rain that fell cold, walking up the steps to the front door I shook my head trying to stop some of my fur from dripping but to no avail. Opening the door and walking in I saw my mother on the couch hung over as usual several bottles of Whiskey ranging from full to nearly empty were strewn across the coffee table. "Mom I'm home", I said stating the obvious. She threw her hand up in the air but said nothing so I took the signal that I was safe. Walking into my bedroom I threw my bag and clothes on the ground lying damp and naked on my bed head in my pillow.

I wondered if Rayn was thinking about me at all, I didn't mean to just be so hands on. I felt overpowered by my feelings and then well it was no matter I had kissed him and I liked it that was all there was to it. Dozing off to sleep I dreamt about him again walking around in his gym shorts only to be woken up by the slamming of the front door. I sprung to my feet knowing who that was and locking my door the voice of my father echoing as he and my mother argued. From the sound of it he was really drunk and was looking for a fight, the screams of my mother confirmed that. I quickly unlocked my door running out to the living room seeing my father holding her down his fist raised as he prepared to best her. I grabbed his wrist yelling "NO, Stop!" this angered him worse to which he stood up and gave me a left hook to the face sending me backwards into the glass doors of the hutch. I looked up long enough to see his fist strike the other side of my face sending me to the floor. My world turning dark I prayed that it would all be over soon as I felt my father's hands wrapped around my throat.
