Vicariously - By Kandrel

The door shut louder than he'd intended. Wasn't that typical? It would figure that the one time he'd intended to sneak in, a gust of wind would slam the door behind him. No need to be quiet while he kicked his shoes off; Dave would be awake. Dave wasn't exactly a light sleeper, but a thump like that would have woken the dead.

By habit more than intent, Melvin crept towards the stairs. Maybe, just maybe, he'd get away with it this time. Against all luck, maybe the slamming door hadn't-

"Mel? Is that you?" No, he hadn't. Dejected, he climbed the stairs.

The lights were all off upstairs, but Mel knew the layout of the hallway so well he could (and had) traversed it with his eyes closed. True to form, his hand caught the half-closed bedroom door and pushed it the rest of the way open. "Hey hon. I'm home."

Mel sat on the bed and started to remove his jeans. They were a bit wet and clung to his short fur. He'd only removed the first leg by the time Dave turned on his bedside lamp.

"Where were you hon? It's almost four in the morning."

"Out at the bar with friends." Dave shrugged and tore at the other leg. It didn't do much to help, but he did feel better.

"This late? Turn around."

Mel ignored him, but Dave's hands pulled his torso around, and the rabbit's long muzzle pushed itself into his face.

"Breathe out." Mel held his breath. "You know if you don't I'll just assume the worst."

Trapped, Mel exhaled. Dave's expressive snout twitched a few times.

"Liar. You haven't had a drink all night."

"Not lying. I just didn't drink." Mel shrugged again and pulled himself free. He tugged at his jeans leg again and managed to peel the denim away down to the knee.

Dave let out an aggravated huff behind him. "Not one drink? Not likely, mister public transport. Since when was the only one without a license the designated driver?"

"Since I didn't want to get drunk." The jeans gave a good fight, but were finally defeated by a vicious yank.

"That'd be a first. I think you're lying."

"Thanks. I'll be sure to keep that in mind. Go back to sleep, Dave." Next was his left sock. This was significantly less of a struggle.

Dave wasn't large for a rabbit, but even a small rabbit is large compared to a mouse. Hands pulled Mel back onto the bed and pinned him there.

"Dave! Get off me."

The rabbit ignored him. Unkind hands lifted the hem of his underwear and Dave's nose pushed under them. In any most any other situation, Mel would have been happy to have someone's muzzle planted against his sheath. This was not any other situation--he struggled futilely against the hands holding him down.

The nose didn't stay long. "You were with her again."

Mel closed his eyes. The hands let him go, but he didn't try to get away. He'd already been caught, why keep running?

"It's not what you think, Dave."

"What, you met up for tea, and she tripped and planted her ass into your crotch, which was just conveniently unclothed at the time?"

"No, we just... Okay, yes, but not like last time."

When Mel looked, Dave had tucked himself back under the covers and was facing away.

"Dave, come on. We agreed that we could go out and have fun."

"Not with her, Mel." The rabbit's hand shot out, and the light went back out.

Mel finished disrobing with his last sock and underwear being thrown towards the hamper without any hope of accuracy. "We never said anything about who with."

"But you promised me you'd be careful."

"What?" With an annoyed glare at where he figured Dave would be, Mel clambered under the covers. "Just because it's her, you assume we weren't safe?"

"Yes."

Mel put an arm over the rabbit. "We were all kinds of safe."

Dave lifted Mel's arm and pushed it away. "Okay, so tell me all about it. Every detail. I want to hear it all."

"Dave, it's four AM. Do we have to-"

"Yes, we have to. That was part of our deal. You have your fun, and then you tell me everything you did. Every little bit, no secrets."

Mel rolled onto his back and stared up at the ceiling, though his night-vision hadn't kicked in yet. The view was about the same as it would have been if his eyelids had been closed. "Fine. We met at the Painted Lady in town, and we-"

"Stop. I swear, if there's any part of this I don't believe, I will get my friends to dig and dig and dig until I know everything you two did tonight. You know I can do it."

He could. He'd done it last time, and his recreation of the evening had been so accurate that it'd scared Mel. Scared and embarrassed.

"We met," Mel continued, "at the Painted Lady, but we didn't stay there long." He stopped for a moment, but all he could hear from David's side of the bed was the sound of breathing.

Mel cleared his throat. "She seemed to have some plan in mind, so I just followed along. You're wrong about one thing, I did have a drink. Two, in fact. She bought them. She usually does--it helps me to loosen up so we can enjoy the night. She got me something fruity, but god did it kick. I had two, I swear it was just two, but when I tried to stand up she had to catch me because my legs didn't work on the first attempt. She laughed at me. It wasn't mean, it's just her thing. I think she likes how she's more 'manly' than I am, though-"

Dave coughed to cover a laugh.

"Thanks for that." Mel didn't appreciate the dig, but Dave didn't respond or apologize. "Anyway, she had plans for us, so we only stayed long enough for the two drinks. She had something too, but a big cat like her doesn't get drunk on two little drinks. She got us a cab and had it take us to Hyde Grove park. Then she was all over me. The cab was--well, it was a cab. It smelled like crap, so I tried to sort of stay off the seats as much as possible, but she got me pinned and pushed me up against the window. Then she started kissing me and biting at my neck. Fuck, it wasn't just my neck, she could open her mouth and fit most of my head inside. I tried to kiss back, but she's a big girl, it was easier to just let her do her thing."

"Did she get you hard?"

Mel paused in his story. The threat of Dave finding it out on his own was still fresh in his ears. "Yes. I hadn't even buckled up yet before she'd told the cabbie where we were going and had my jeans unzipped and a hand in them. God, her fingers... She's a big girl, but those fingers were playing me like a piano. She didn't bother hiding it. I think the driver could actually see her giving me a hand job, because he asked if we wanted to go to a hotel instead of the park. She just flicked him the bird, then went on stroking me. The back seat wasn't really big enough for her. While she was bent over in the seat and rubbing up against me, her tail kept smacking the back of the cabbie's seat, so he finally stopped and told us to get out two blocks before the park, no charge.

"As soon as we stepped out of the cab, I could see what she'd been planning. The whole center of town was lit up like a christmas tree. There was some traveling carnival in the park, complete with those cheesy rides and this roller coaster I wouldn't get on even if you'd paid me to. We walked the rest of the way."

"And did she keep-"

"No." Mel let a bit of annoyance back into his tone. "No, she didn't. She was perfectly innocent while we walked. Well, she did keep wrapping her tail around my waist, but it wasn't sexual. I think it's just a lion thing--how they show ownership."

"Oh, so she owns you now?" Mel could hear the bitter tone to Dave's question, though it was more a statement than a question.

"Okay, either I stop now or you stop being so childish. These were your rules Dave."

Silence descended. It was almost a minute before the rabbit spoke up again. "You're right. I'm sorry. Keep going."

"Right, we walked to the carnival. She was being really affectionate, but if she'd been doing anything too bad, they wouldn't have let us in. The whole place had one of those waist-high fences-"

"So, chest-high for you?"

"Hah. Bitch. You'll laugh, but she made the same joke. I asked who those fences were supposed to be keeping in or out, and she just looked down at me and said 'Isn't it obvious? You.' Then she laughed at me again. It stung a little, but I knew she wasn't being mean. Then she picked me up like I weighed nothing and asked if I wanted to go on the kiddie rides."

Dave did laugh. It stung a little again, but Mel knew Dave wasn't being mean either. "So what did you do?"

"I bit her ear, and she threw me into the 'River of Love'."

Dave laughed again. It was infectious--just moments later Mel found himself smiling. He turned to Dave again and put his arm over the rabbit's side. This time, Dave didn't push it away. Mel pulled himself flush to Dave's back. It wasn't forgiveness, yet, but it was at least peace in his bed, and that was an acceptable first step.

"When they fished me out, I was soaked. I'm just glad the water was pretty fresh. I don't think the carnival had been in town long enough for it to stagnate and start to smell. The carnie attendant told us that if we kept fucking around, we'd be thrown out. She laughed it off and told him that any fucking we'd be doing wasn't his business, thank-you-very-much. I thought he was going to call one of the big bouncers they had over by the entrance, but he just gave us a mean look and turned back to the ride.

"So we rode a few rides. And before you ask, yes, she started having her fun again. She took us onto the merry-go-round and picked a unicorn. It was this purple thing, and it had a moon on its side. God, it almost disappeared beneath her when she sat on it, and she pulled me up into her lap. Since we were going around and up and down, I don't think anyone got enough of a look to see that her hand was in my jeans and stroking in time with the ride going up and down. I was in her lap, so she trapped my tail between her legs, and was humping against it. She was so wet she'd soaked all the way through her panties and skirt."

"You enjoyed it, then." Dave asked.

"Well..."

"It wasn't a question." The rabbit wiggled his hips, and Mel couldn't hide the surprised gasp when plush rump cheeks pushed back against the erection he hadn't been aware he'd had. It was always sneaking up on him, poking out when he didn't intend it.

"Yeah." The mouse's voice was soft and anxious. He leaned up and reached towards the bedside table, but before his hand could find the bottle of lube, Dave caught his wrist.

"What do you think you're doing?"

"I'm getting ready. Didn't you want-"

Dave cut him off. "You're not getting out of telling your story. That's our deal, and what I do while I'm listening isn't your problem."

Mel only hesitated momentarily. "She told me I was cute when I was blushing. That the whole park must be able to see us, because I'd turned from a white mouse to a pink mouse. I was so embarrassed."

"And turned on."

"She has a way with me, Dave. God those fingers. They way they curled around and-ERK!"

Mel gave a jump as fingers curled around his erection. They were wet, and left behind a slippery-slick feeling. Dave squeezed him momentarily, then drew his arm back. "Do tell."

"Oh. Oh, she kept going, even after the ride had started to slow, and people were going to see what she... I didn't finish. Right before we came to a full stop, her fingers pulled up my fly. I was almost there, but the ride was over. So with me gasping like a fish out of water, she led me around. I think she was drawing it out on purpose. She went to the ring toss and kept playing until she won me a tiger."

"Where is it, then?"

Mel hesitated. "I left it at the office. I didn't want to..."

Silence descended for a moment. "You didn't want me to ask."

"Yeah." Mel sighed and laid his head on Dave's back. The rabbit's fingers found him again and stroked. Mel gave a few excited squeaks into the smooth fur, then the fingers disappeared again. "I thought I could get in without you noticing."

"You thought wrong." The rabbit's response was sharp and husky.

"I know." He paused again, but picked up as soon as he felt the rabbit moving against him. "She took us to the ferris wheel after. You should have seen it, it was huge."

"To you, maybe." Dave taunted.

"To anyone. It even had a sign stating that it was the largest mobile ferris wheel ever constructed. Guinness world record and all. I don't know if that's true, but it was big. Really, really big. I knew she wouldn't leave without having ridden it, so I joined the line before she'd even mentioned it. I swear there must have been a hundred cars on it, all lit up and sparkling. She teased me right through the line, taking little gropes when we turned the corners and rubbing herself against me whenever we moved. She wasn't going to let me go soft, not before she'd had her prize. I think everyone was watching us, too. I could feel their eyes on me."

"Not safe." Dave complained.

"No, but... No. We weren't safe. I think everyone knew by the time we got to the front." Fingers were on him again, stroking him against Dave's plush fur. The rabbit's pelt felt wet too, lubricated, and Mel's shaft slid slickly everywhere it touched. "I... Eh-"

"Finish your story. That's the deal."

"Right." Mel closed his eyes. The cars weren't enclosed, so we were supposed to wear safety belts that kept us on the seats. We unbuckled as soon as we left the dock, though. It took some work to get us set up right. I don't know if you've met her, but she's tall. Really tall."

"Well, she's a lion."

"Yeah. She is." The fingers left, but Mel felt something much warmer touch his tip, then clench around it. The mouse shivered as it slid hesitantly up, an inch at a time, towards his sheath. "She-Oh. Erm-"

"Finish, Mel."

"She stood on the floor of the car, while I stood up on the seat. She just pulled her panties down and her skirt up, and I unzipped my jeans and threw my arms over her waist. She still needed to bend her knees a little bit, but then I felt her and--oh, just like that. Just like that." The hot ring slid down all the way and Dave's cotton tail pushed against Mel's belly. He couldn't hold himself back. The mouse gave a sharp hump, and Dave gave a gasp. "She was hot, and so wet I almost couldn't feel her. Until she squeezed her legs together, then I felt every inch of her as she rocked in the car. We started swinging, back and forth like a pendulum as she pushed back against me."

"And what did you do?"

"I--oh... I fucked her." Mel pushed the rabbit's back and rolled on top. With both of his hands leaning on Dave's back, his hips jerked back, then slammed up against the rabbit's hard enough to rock the bed and knock headboard against the wall. "I fucked her, Dave. I swear, I thought we were going to fall. The way the car rocked, and with no belts or walls or windows between us and a fifty foot fall, I fucked her like it was the last night of my life."

Dave gave a low yowl beneath him as Mel's hips slammed against his. The rabbit had padding, and his fur was so soft that it was like humping a pillow. A hot, wet, tight pillow, with a cute puffy tail that Mel could grab with one hand and hold on to as he ground Dave's hips into the mattress.

"She was growling constantly. When the ferris wheel spun us to the top, I could see the kids from the car in front of us spin around and watch us. I didn't care. She felt so good, and she was so wet that it was dripping onto my jeans and down her legs and soaking her panties. My hips are still sore from it, but oh, it was worth the pain. By the time we were most of the way down again, she was roaring every time I pushed in."

Dave gave a soft cry beneath him, and Mel felt him tense. He knew Dave, knew all of his triggers and mannerisms and little quirks. He could tell by how the rabbit's whole body tensed up that he was cumming. And he knew that after he finished, he'd want Mel to pull out. So the mouse let himself go. Twice a second, three times, his already sore hips pistoned up and down, and his balls slapped against the rabbits own twitching pair. Just seconds away he felt a familiar tingle, then the mouse let out a squeak. He held himself tight to Dave, and the rabbit gave him soft comforting chirps he twitched and spurted in Dave's backside.

The two were silent for a minute, then two. Mel's pulse slowly descended from the stratosphere, and Dave shifted until the twitching shaft slid free, instead to just drip against his soft rump fur.

"You were caught." Dave said.

"Oh yeah. They were waiting for us at the bottom. They caught me with my feet completely off the seat, just laying on her back and twitching. I think I even got a little on one of those carnie bouncer's shoes when they pulled us apart."

Dave gave a little giggle, then rolled. "That's not safe, Mel. You promised you be safe."

"I know. I promised I'll be more careful in the future." He lied.

The rabbit rolled to his side, tumbling the mouse from his back. "Good. Did you have fun?"

Mel hesitated. "Fun with who? With her, or with you?"

"Aren't they the same answer?"

"Yes." There was no hesitation.

"Good."

That would have been the end of the evening. Peace was restored, the deal had been kept. That was the oil that kept the relationship running smoothly. Things were tranquil, and Mel could finally get a rest.

But then his mobile phone roared, buried in the pocket of his distant jeans. It was a lion's roar, the stereotypical one they play in the movies. Then it roared again.

"That's her, isn't it?"

Mel buried his head in the pillow. "Yes."

"Aren't you going to answer it?"

"It's just a text message, probably talking about the fun we had tonight. I can read it tomorrow morning."

"But what if it's not?"

Mel sighed. He knew that tone. With the aggrieved sigh of the mortally tired, he rolled from the bed and found his jeans. The phone was glowing through the pocket. He extracted it and began to read.

"It's not just a thank you, is it."

Mel hesitated. "No."

"You're going again." It wasn't a question. It was a statement.

Mel wanted to sleep. He wanted to curl up next to his rabbit and forget everything until the sun woke them both in the morning. It was a weekend. He was supposed to be free.

But she called, and there was another adventure awaiting him. He looked down at Dave but couldn't see him. He didn't need to see him. He knew Dave. The rabbit would be watching him expectantly.

And Mel loved it. He had just enough energy to feign an apology. "Yeah. I'm sorry."

"No you're not." The rabbit's voice was sharp and peevish again. "You're going out with her. I swear this time I'm going to need to bail you out, aren't I?"

"No." Mel shivered with excitement. He hoped so. "Maybe."

"Better not. Promise me you'll be safe." Whine and bitch and moan, then force the mouse to make promises he knows he can't keep, that was Dave's technique. Afterwards, wheedle and coerce the story out of him when he got home. Live vicariously through the little mouse's adventurous life. Dave didn't want Mel back in bed. Like a junkie waiting for his next high, he wanted to hear about another adventure.

"I promise." Mel was hard again. It was difficult to zip his fly back up when he dragged his jeans on.

"Sure you do." Dave grumped, then turned away from him. The rabbit didn't fool him. Mel was good with people. He could hear it when the rabbit was bitching through a smile.

Mel scampered down the stairs and almost tripped over the stuffed tiger at the bottom. He'd lied about leaving it at the office, but Dave would understand when he woke up. He put his shoes on, then opened the door to the sunrise. It was a gorgeous Saturday, and another adulterous escapade was calling his name.
