#2 of Story of Chai Raleigh

The next day, the only manor north of the town had lights flashing onto all the windows it has in various colors at night, plus keeping the loud bass of fast tempo music and lots of laughter from children inside its perimeter. But on the balcony, a Chai and Jaz were sitting on a rocking bench, slowly moving it back and forth while holding each other closely and faces touching and rubbing onto each other. It was cold, but not windy outside, so they both had their jackets on, but Chai kept his unzipped, showing his button shirt underneath. The cat's eyes were closed as he smiled and purred away on the bilby. His purring was a lot different from other feline; it made his entire body vibrate lightly.

Jaz grinned with one eye open and called the feline's name. It made Chai stop purring instantly and face her completely. "Yes Jaz?"

"You know, you've been purring and rubbing my face for the past ten minutes nonstop."

Chai blushed and rubbed the back of his neck. "I apologize, Jazmine. That was unprofessional..."

Jaz rolled her eyes. "What was 'unprofessional' this time...?"

"Well that was not a gentleman trait I was taught to do and--"

Jaz looked at Chai closely, noses touching each other which made him stop talking. "Chai, you're trying too hard." She chuckled. "But come on, that was just cute, not unprofessional."

Chai blinked a couple times and tried to smile. "So you didn't mind that?"

"Nah! I enjoyed it really, reason why I didn't say anything." She nuzzled Chai and giggled, then gently pushed him with her hand, slowly letting him lay his back on the bench. Chai was a bit surprised, but he calmed down and smiled up at Jaz. The bilby started to move her head close to his again while whispering, "I'll enjoy this more..."

They both closed their eyes and puckered their lips for contact, but something made Chai open his eyes instantly when his ears flicked from hearing something sliding and the volume of the music in the manor increased by a lot. He looked over Jaz's shoulder and spotted a tall a slim male in brown fur peeking out clearing his throat. "Excuse me, madam?"

Jaz groaned and got off Chai to sharply turn to the reptile. "Dammit, Allan!"

He walked out to the balcony, showing that the wolverine was wearing a glossy black and white suit with a bow tie. He had one hand behind his back and an envelope in the other. "I'm sorry to ruin it ma'am, but everyone is asking where their host is for the... exhibition between you and... Master Chai."

Jaz blinked and stood up off the bench. "Oh yeah, forgot about that..."

Chai sat up and sighed. "Same here. We kept them waiting a little too long it seems."

Jaz turned around and huffed, looking at her wristwatch. "Only 5 minutes behind schedule. MAN they're impatient!" She finally noticed the object in Allan's hand and tilted her head. "Say uh...that's a flashy looking envelope there. Seal with a bow and whatnot..."

"Oh yes", replied Allan. "It was in front of the house labeled to Mr. Raleigh here."

Chai blinked as Allan walked over to him and handed him the dark red letter wrapped with a bow. Chai received it and glanced it from all sides. Jaz watched him doing so and leaned her back on the balcony's railing, crossing her arms and said, "That must be your parents sending a letter to come back home or something."

"I doubt it", replied Chai, feeling the texture of the envelope. "This letter feels a little wet here and dry there. I don't think they'll send a letter in this condition." He paused, looking at Jaz. "Not only that, I told you what they might be doing."

"That's right!" She chuckled then continued saying, "Reason why they kicked you out 2 hours early. Your parents are funny sometimes."

Chai nodded and smiled. "I know and I loved them so much. Dunno what I'll do without them." Jaz nodded back and agreed. Chai grabbed the bow and began to pull the lace of it. "Let's see whats inside, shall we?"

Jaz watched as Chai untie the bow on the envelope, then her focus was taken off from seeing a big snowflake landing on her nose. She felt agitated and flicked it off her nose and looked up. "You must be kidding... Snowing again?!" Large flakes started to descend from the sky, falling onto the balcony and streets below. She just turned around and leaned on the railing, just looking out at the small town and observing the snow landing on top of the houses downhill. "Always snowing here in Grindavik. I know it's Iceland, but...damn... it snowed five times in three days now!"

Chai smiled as he ripped the envelope over and pulled out the folded letter. He noticed that most of it was wet and in a dark red color. His nose twitched from the scent given off by the piece of paper. He took one hand off and sniffed his wet fingertips. His eyes widened instantly and unfolded the letter. The font writing was somehow not stained by the wet letter. In addition, it was white and in script writing that Chai could easily read.

While Chai skimmed through the writing, Allan walked up to Jaz and said, "I'm sorry to bother again, Madam, but your father had to leave somewhere and party is downstairs waiting for the duel with..."

"Yeah yeah", said Jaz, "I'll get to it." She paused. "Also... if you tell Dad about what you saw out here..."

"Don't worry Madam. I won't tell a soul what happened here."

"Nothing happened...yet." Allan was about to apologize again, but she interrupted by saying, "And stop that apologizing, man! You didn't mean it, okay?" Chai started to breathe heavily through his mouth that slightly gaped and slowly lowered the letter to get it out of his sight. His eyes just looked down at the balcony and he stood in place. Jaz turned back around at the feline and smiled. "So what did the letter...say...?" She lost her smile quickly from seeing Chai's current emotion. "Is everything alright? Chai?"

"I have to go", he said before he took off pass Allan, almost knocking him down, and straight inside the manor.

Jaz blinked. "What the?!" Then she followed Chai into her home. "Hold it!"

Chai made it to the ground floor and pushed the double doors wide open. He didn't close them back; he just kept running straight down. Jaz quickly caught up with Chai just before he left the open gate entrance and grabbed him by his arm to stop him. Chai struggled to get free, then he stopped and just looked down to the snow covered pavement.

Jaz panted lightly and exhaled. "Now where do you think you're going, mister?" Chai was silent and he trembled where he stood. Still grasping his limb, she saw the stained fingers on Chai and recognized what it was. She called his name softly and walked around to see his face. "What's wrong? Are you hands covered in..."

Chai nodded. "Yes... It's really blood all over this letter."

"Um...ew?"

Chai sharply brought his head up, body still trembled. "I-I have to see my parents, Jaz! Please let go."

"You think this is from them or something?"

"I don't know! But I have to see right now and make sure they're okay."

"But what did the letter say?"

Chai looked away and stayed quiet for a while, until Jaz called his named again and he focused back on the bilby. "Jazmine please let go. I'll explain on the way, okay? Just please, I have to see them right this minute."

Jaz sighed heavily and slowly loosen her grip on Chai's arm. "Then I'm coming with you. This seems serious." She looked over the cat's shoulder and noticed her steward wolverine and pouted. "Dammit, Allan..."

Allan was outside the double door entrance calling out to Jazmine. "What about your party? I...don't think they can..."

Chai ran pass Jazmine and ran down the narrow and snowy road, only to have Jaz watch him from the gate. She was going to go after him, but Allan called her again. "Allan", seethed, Jazmine once she turned around, then sighed again, "just tell them to shut the hell up, okay?! I'll be back with Chai in a few minutes!" She sharply turned back around and went after the feline.

Allan just blinked and stammered a few times. He went silent and slowly turned his head around from hearing a large group of adolescence chanting FIGHT through the loud booming music. "Um...hope you come back soon..."
