#2 of An Ordinary Day

My first attempt at a furry story. I know it's short, but it is just a prologue. As the tags say this will become an M/M story. The main character is myself (Hikari-kun), and the wolf is just a random character of my own creation. Any resemblance to any person(s) is completely coincidental. Costructive criticism is welcomed with open arms and if I don't update consistently I apologize, but I can't write on a schedule. I wish you all a happy New Year and all the best! <(^_^)>

PS. The first spell that's mentioned (for thief gendering) is real and can be found in The Encyclopedia of 5000 Spells, by Judika Illers.

An Ordinary Day

Prologue

I awoke one day to find that my bread had been stolen from my kitchen. Great, I thought to myself, when is this thief going to realize that I know who he is. I reach into a cupboard and take out some Queen of the Meadow root. I might as well double check that he stole my bread... Again. _ Tossing the root into a basin of water, it sinks; just like it does every other time that wolf has stolen something of mine. _Well, this spell would say it was a woman if the root floats; this root is actually quite buoyant so it usually floats. I wish he would just ask for food rather than breaking and entering. Of course, I could just check my security camera, but I don't get to use simple magic like this enough.

I head downstairs and leave through the front door. I get on my bike and pedal to the park that's only three blocks away. I look into the early morning gloom. At least it's warm since it's early June. I spot the thief not too far away on a bench with my bread and a milk carton. I tie my bike up and take a quick diagnostic of my thief. About five foot nine in height, muscles are slightly more defined since I last saw him, still skinny though. His fur is still like the night sky, black with the slightest tinge of blue that is just barely noticeable with little flecks of white. No shirt as per usual... At least this time he's wearing pants... He hasn't noticed my approach yet so I startle him a little when I say,

"Enjoying my bread and, I assume, someone else's milk?"

"Jebus! Don't scare me like that! You almost made me waste the bread! It won't do me much good if I'm choking on it!"

"You know, if you want food you could just ask, I mean, we were friends back in grade school and that hasn't changed much since we turned nineteen."

"I couldn't do that, I'd feel like I'm taking advantage of you."

"And stealing from me is better?"

"Not really, but thanks Captain Sarcasm!"

We laugh at his joke and I join him on the bench.

"So, Kuroi, how's life been living on the streets for the last few months?"

"Eh, the usual. Getting by stealing, cops on my ass about living in the park. Same old."

"The cops are probably getting pretty agitated with you, huh?"

"Yeah, they say that if I don't leave the park by tonight that they're returning, with pepper spray, and are going to force me to leave."

"What? Seriously?"

"Yeah... I think I'm ready to take you up on your offer."

"To come stay with me?" I had made this offer when he first told me that he was going to live "street-wise" for a while.

"...Yeah..."

"Well, welcome to Hikari house!"
