#2 of Dragon Knight

This update came a little later than planned, due mostly to a severe underestimation of this years string of Christmas parties. From what I remember - I had an awesome time. I'm really staggered with how well recieved the first Dragon Knight was, and worked hard to try and produce an apt sequel; hopefully anyone reading this will find enjoyment in it. And for the first time, I'm submitting a piece which has been proof read! Thanks a ton to Red Tygon for seeing to that for me, and for the encouragement as usual - you're an epic guy ;3. Also, thanks to Foxohki for the advice and PMs - I really appreciate it. Mashed out on a PDA as usual: Here goes...

The Dragon Knight - Part Two Of Two - Wings

Jayde: Only for this, would I sacrifice my pride.

The evening air was chill and crisp, still and undisturbed beneath great boughs of evergreen pine. A perfect sky could be glimpsed through the gaps between the trees, pockmarked with a few lone clouds as, nearing dusk, the heavens gained a light pink hue. The earth was buried beneath a blanket of moss, a thick, perpetually moist carpet engulfing the pre-winter deadfall of an elongated British autumn. Placed within a convenient clearing, man had left his mark; sturdy young pine branches lashed together with dirt-covered roots to form a natural shelter, its low, sloping roof a water-proofing shield of moss and turf. Willow formed a makeshift cradle beneath the awning, buried beneath a comfortable bed of amassed fern leaves, and covered by a folded poncho to prevent the damp from seeping through. Neat rows of equipment lay ready here, arranged by favour of use in preparation of their tasks. A pair of ancient logs, weathered with age, formed a nearby firewall, a small dug out section of charcoal ridden earth before it the camps fire pit. A low sound slowly became audible, a metronome of crunching footsteps increasing in volume as Zephyr neared his camp, the man sidling through the woodlands to at last find his goal in sight. A small hand axe had been thrust through one of the belt loops of his combat ninety-fives, the blade stained by sap, blunted slightly from use, his clothing worn as he neared the end of his fifth day of survival. The young soldier reached upwards to adjust his pack, a mass of dead branches overflowing from the bergan to skew his beret with the movement. He sighed softly before sweeping the headwear from his brow, his arm extending outward to launch it into his shelter. A breeze cooled his neck, ruffling short brown hair, a slight fluttering of wings a welcome reprieve as his companion sensed the discomfort of his exertion. Riding upon his shoulder, in her favourite spot, a small jade-green dragoness twitched her wingtips, draping her long, sinuous tail over his shoulders as she adjusted her position.

For Jayde, there was no more convenient perch, no need to waste so much as a wing beat in flight as she let her human do all of the legwork. She smiled wryly in some hidden victory, pleased at having the soldier labour for her as at last reaching camp, she dropped from his shoulder to land in the undergrowth. A few deft movements brought her to the great logs of the firewall, her claws gripping at the slightly charred wood as she pulled herself up to watch her companion. The dragoness stretched her small body luxuriously, letting out a low yawn as she folded her oversized wings neatly away. Her form was no longer than the soldiers forearm, her long sinuous tail coiled beside her, the shades of jade coloured scales from which she took her name cast in the pre-dusk light as serpentine features generated an impressive shadow. An elaborate black brand, not unlike a tribal tattoo traced her right arm, a marking mirrored upon the human and the sign of their bond. A dull crunch signalled her companions pack emptying into their pile of firewood, Zephyr dropping beneath the awning to draw his knife and begin stripping the bark from a few likely sticks.

Jayde chuckled. Her human never seemed to cease in his work, an earnest display of one of his finer traits as he put his heart into his every task. His brow was furrowed in concentration, azure eyes focused upon his task. She couldn't help but test his resolve, "I don't see why you're wasting your time carving those." He looked up for but a moment. Time in the field had roughened his features, the usually orderly Zephyr on the verge of a beard, a long thin scratch tracing the line of his jaw. "Wouldn't it be easier to just start your fire with magic?" Her gaze remained fixed upon him, silently assessing. A growing issue proved the centre of her thoughts, one which tonight she would see addressed.

The soldier surveyed his work carefully, by now more than aware of the trials that the dragoness would draw him into with tact as simple as conversation. To Jayde, to converse was no casual banter, but a game of dominance, a series of traps and ploys designed to gain what boons she could from him. Her senses were far beyond those of a human, the dragoness able to pick up every lie, process every half truth. She spoke with a veiled intent, and he knew it. Even after becoming mates last month, still she battled for her whims in such a confusingly roundabout way. And still it left him mildly perturbed. "I might not always have magic." He answered, pulling a slip of flint from his pocket, drawing his knife along its length to generate a flurry of sparks.

"You might not always have a flint and knife." She pointed out, earning a slight scowl in response as she scored a point, "As long as you have me, you'll have magic. And I'm not going anywhere." Her voice had a strange sureness about it as she made her statement, a true and serious tone not lost upon Zephyr's keen senses. The crossed feather sticks burst into flame in his moment of confusion, the dragoness letting out a snort of dissatisfaction as she regained her usual lofty state, "Fine, suit yourself."

Zephyr leaned in close to his flickering blaze, blowing softly as he added tinder enough to allow his fire to grow. It gained him time to think, to focus. The soldier had little interest in the abilities that had come in the wake of his pact, mentally filing them as mere advantages which only the dragoness would see him pursue. His senses had heightened, and even without the familiar thrill of energy he knew that his power had grown. And more and more often she would call for him to use it, and mostly he refused her successfully. It had been hard enough keeping his draconic companion secret to begin with, without more to add; a task now made even more difficult since they had become a mated couple. His sole concern had once been Jayde being seen on her nightly flights, now it was more so them being discovered mating in the block. Even the word still seemed a little foreign to him. In the wake of that fateful evening, an invisible wall of tension had broken between them, the prideful, refined dragoness spilling her heart to her new love. He still remembered her blush, how she hesitated as she fought her pride, and it drew a smile from him. He would be honest for her sake, "I don't trust magic." He crossed a few larger sticks over his fire, allowing it to slowly build as the scent of burning pine overtook his sense of smell, "I don't understand it."

"So you mistrust that which you cannot understand?" The dragoness was watching him carefully, taking careful note of his responses as the scent of the fire robbed her of a sense, "How human of you." She allowed herself a few moments of consideration, her voice lowering slightly, "I wonder if you're including me in that?" Their eyes met, and the world stilled. She was testing him.

Jayde, despite her calm and refined exterior, was actually quite fragile; the soldier learning to pick his words with time and care over their years together as experience showed that even a little doubt seemed to wound her. Jayde often seemed unsure, clinging to him as if she feared that he would drift away, her insecurities seeping through, "You're the exception." He spoke with absolution.

Truth. Jayde smiled despite herself, unable to hide her measure of happiness in the wake of the young soldiers words. Zephyr had within him great potential, the true heart of her kin and a nature that was becoming more and more so. The man was for her a true match, able to battle her wordplay on equal par, able to unearth and ease the fears of her very nature. And she must admit, his form was more than a little pleasing to the eye, even after these days of living rough. The dragoness propelled herself from her perch, her body cast in light as his seal reduced in strength, Jayde's proportions increasing to a mass not too dissimilar to the mans own. The human remained unperturbed, by now more than used to the dragoness' ability to alter her size, shifting aside the remainder of loose equipment to clear some room. In truth, Jayde's true form was immense, only the young soldiers sealing magic keeping her in a state as convenient as this. She drew closer to take her place beneath their shelter, curling her larger form neatly beside him. The sky was darkening, the flames becoming their primary source of light as crimson dusk signalled the final dying rays of the sun. Night fell swiftly in the woodlands, Zephyr unconsciously nearing his fire as the warming effects of his small inferno became more obvious. Jayde took a slow breath, adhering to her strategy, "You wouldn't be so cold If you hadn't given your sleeping bag away."

The man snapped a branch, twisting the pine before laying it carefully over his fire, a few thicker additions focusing and controlling the blaze as the needles called forth spitting crackles. "She needed it more than I did." He cast his mind back to the beginning of their stint in the woods, remembering the frantic expression of a certain officer as she tore apart her kit in search. Zephyr had instantly volunteered his own, knowing that the frigid nights were little cost for his pride, an action the likes of which the dragoness had grown used to, and would not have minded in any other circumstance.

Jayde was silent for a long time, allowing her line of sight to drift into the fire. It was strange how such a thing could rob you of time, to draw forth thoughts and feelings in silent apprehension as ones mind wandered. The flames were reflected in her crimson eyes as she lowered her gaze, cast in orange glow, an unease clutching at her heart, her voice barely a whisper, "She was very pretty, wasn't she?"

Zephyr responded instinctively, "Jealous?" He watched his companion carefully, feeling her emotions spike through their link as he forced her to elaborate on words that she couldn't help but slip. The very nature of a dragon was to be possessive, to hoard, to know control, and he knew her nature better than anyone, mood swings and all. When he had given in to her advances, there was no doubt in his mind that the time ahead would be a bumpy ride, conscious that the dragoness hid often more than she would like behind the weight of her draconic pride. He now pierced that veil of calculating logic.

"No, I-" Jayde stuttered, concentration broken, taking a few seconds to gather herself as Zephyr stoked the fire with a victorious grin. She spoke swiftly, "It's not like I'm worried or anything. It was just a latent thought, just a musing, just-" She blushed as his chuckle cut her off.

"You don't need to worry, Jayde. I made my choice." She could feel his eyes upon her, and couldn't help but turn and meet them. He wouldn't openly admit it without a fight, but he had come to find her form far more alluring than any human. Cheering her was worth his pride, "I was... Happy when you asked me to be yours... When you said that you loved me." He thought hard for the best words to tell her how he felt, "It was for who you are. Because it was you... The reason that I said it back." He gave a slow exhalation, giving up on articulating his state and instead choosing to adopt her dialect, "Trust me more, I'm your mate after all."

Jayde smiled, reassured, "Zeph..." There were more implications in his words than he would ever realise, and she was conscious of every one of them. The dragoness felt her confidence grow, the human truly was hers, "And don't you forget it." Her voice gained volume as she met his gaze with a knowing grin, shifting her tail to poke his side in reinforcement to her words, "No uppity human girl is taking you away from me without a fight!" The dragoness all but glowed with pride, aware that she had managed to force her companion to bare his soul. Their bonds had deepened further still since they had become mates, Zephyr's insights forcing the dragoness to truly put her heart into the battle for dominance. And the challenge thrilled her.

The soldier shook his head slowly, allowing her the victory, absently stroking between the dragoness' wings as she gave a low murr of satisfaction; feeling the comforting warmth of her body through his uniform as he leaned back against the shelters supporting strut. Much time had passed since the sun had disappeared beyond the horizon, and now once again a full moon bathed the woodlands in silver luminescence, solitary in a starless sky of inky black; the world cooling beyond their sphere of glowing orange. The soldier allowed his gaze to drift upwards into that endless abyss, lost in the emptiness of the heavens, his mind cast back through the years. He remembered his life before Jayde, a quietude reduced to distant memory by her presence alone. Their relationship had altered his world beyond recognition, the course of his life commencing upon a path once inconceivable as they became mates. The dragoness was devious and manipulative, insatiable and lovable all at once. Her very nature had captured his heart.

Zephyr found his breath misting, and shivered despite himself, tensing his muscles to try and subdue an action not lost upon his companion. Jayde turned to him with a grin, noting an opportunity, her voice pulling his thoughts to the present, "I should let you freeze, and show you exactly where such pointless chivalry gets you." She felt his body stiffen as he sensed her considerations, the dragoness continuing, "But of course, you owing me a favour would hardly be a bad thing..." The crux of her strategy at last.

The soldier set his jaw, fully understanding his predicament. Jayde was determined to one-up him, demonstrating her control over the situation with a knowing smirk, "These tactics are a little cheap for you, are they not?" His head bowed as their eyes met, knowing that she was serious, "What sort of favour did you have in mind?" He chose his words carefully.

"Whatever I want." She pulled herself to her feet as his breath caught, advancing upon his downed form with all of the wariness of a huntress, "Just for tonight." She chuckled absently at his mildly confused expression, eyes filled with lust, "You could smell what I wanted if it wasn't for the scent of this damn fire!" Jayde had grown more used to mating often than she ever would have intended, this last week without contact taking a surprising toll. The dragoness held her body in check carefully, shielding her intents as she waited for such an opportunity to rise. Though she would never admit it, Jayde truly found satisfaction in surrendering to her instincts and submitting to her human, this chance for dominance one which she would rarely take. Her only wandering was how long she could keep it up for.

Jayde's jaw was set, her expression a determined look to the point of mild intimidation, action forceful as she pinned the soldier to the ground, drawing close to meet his lips with her own. "Mmmph!" The man responded instinctively, drawing up to the limit of available movement in a sudden kiss, the motion becoming deep and passionate as he understood her desires. This was Jayde's intent from the start, the knowledge coming to him with absolute surety. It wasn't like he had missed the signs; her increased heart rate when they touched, the line of her gaze drifting low, the look in her eyes when he met them. Her desires were the only true advantage that he had over her, only his control preventing her from wresting that away from him.

Practice had granted the dragoness a measure of dexterity, her long, serpentine tail sliding against his thigh, a deft flick the only requirement to loose an issue belt. She drew back slightly, grinning in victory as the initial draft of cold air brought forth a slight shiver from her companion, revelling in her control as she felt the man shift instinctively beneath her. Jayde's motions were slow, sensuous, the strength of her tail tip drawing the material of his clothing aside to bare flesh against the night. "It's not the same for you without the danger, is it?" She came close to his ear, "I know how much it gets to you... Every time that we almost get caught." The dragoness scoffed as he blushed, discarding his trousers, "That's why I choose those times."

Zephyr gulped slowly, trying hard to gain some measure of control over his reactions, his companion gradually retreating down his body as she prepared to put that silver tongue of hers to use in a different way. Instinct clawed at him, a dark mass of lusts and desires threatening to overwhelm any semblance of sense. Jayde's enjoyment for this aspect of mating had been clear ever since their first time together, experimentation increasing her skill and earning the dragoness more than one favour in turn from her human. Her claws were resting on his thighs, every breath felt against his stiffening member as she drew closer, tongue extending to trace the length of his flesh. Jayde was gauging him carefully, more than aware of his internal struggles, delighting in the slight quiver of his body as she at last closed scaled lips about the tip, twisting her long, dexterous tongue about him as her head lowered. Here, his scent eclipsed even that of the fire, his smell perpetually mixed with her own, marked as her mate, but laced with a faint draconic tone that was more aligned to Zephyr than herself. Her motions continued, an enthusiasm which she knew would draw him swiftly to his limits, a battle against his endurance as her head bobbed, lips providing a seal, tongue working wonders no human could hope to match.

The young soldier squeezed his eyes shut, the image of the dragoness below him vanishing from sight for a few moments as he fought against waves of pleasure. With Jayde, everything was a battle, her fight for dominance through words spilling over into their mating as she vied for power over him. Zephyr couldn't believe how he ever found the idea of sex with his dragoness anything but alluring; her body a perfect, lithe form; his delight, the faint blush and motions which betrayed her feelings. Jayde was cuter than she realised, despite her mire of insecurities, and had become more desirable to him than any of his own species. A soft moan clawed at his throat, his efforts to suppress the sound overcome as her tongue flicked the length of his shaft. The action still felt exotic with taboo, no matter how often she had managed to draw him into it, his body bucking instinctively only to find her weight holding him firmly in place, Jayde drawing back for but a moment, "It's so hard for you to fight your instincts like this, isn't it?" She teased.

The dragoness knew he was close; through their link alone, she could feel his pleasure, revel in his desires as they melded with her own. The taste of his pre prevailed in her mouth, Jayde resuming her ministrations with her usual zeal. She could feel his body shudder, hear his heart rate rise as he struggled to squeeze out words of defiance, "Like you can talk..."

It was true, Jayde was stifling her own moans, her tail tip having found its way to her draconic slit, tracing the opening delicately as she soaked her thighs with need. She groaned softly as the snakelike appendage sank into her folds at last, working a slow, subtle rhythm as the dragoness coaxed Zephyr ever closer to orgasm. The soldier let out a gasp as he reached the brink, the warm confines of her mouth releasing him quite suddenly as his mate ceased in her motions, leaving his member to the cool air. She met his eyes knowingly. He would have no release until she found hers, that much was clear, the dragoness releasing him at last to roll to her side, legs spread as her tail pulled free with a stuttering gasp. The colour of her scales lightened to a more delicate shade of green at her chest, a tone tracing the entire length of her underside, lower regions shining with her juices, leaving her puffed up feminine features stark with need in the firelight. "I told you before..." She blushed despite herself, "I'm the dominant one in this relationship."

Zephyr set his jaw, his cock twitching with desire, a snarl not entirely human clawing at his throat, "Not without a fight." The soldier pulled himself up, drawn in by a scent which eclipsed even the burning pine, a smell alluring in a nigh animalistic manner, hands resting upon scaled thighs as her position shifted, quadruped nature robbing the dragoness of movement.

Her slit glistened before him, a buried possessive trait awakening in his mind as he came to know that the dragoness truly was his. Zephyr refused to acknowledge exactly how dragon-like his nature had become, trusting his instincts in all things, he had no difficulty submitting to its calling. "Don't - Don't stare at it." Jayde pulled him from his daze, her domineering streak broken for but an instant as she flicked her wingtips nervously, almost embarrassed by his solid gaze. The young man grinned, drawing close to tentatively trace her folds with his tongue, heartened by the soft moan he received in response and committing himself to his task. The last month had granted him a wealth of experience, the sounds of pleasure which his companion couldn't even begin to suppress, a map for his manipulations. He moved slowly, teasingly, lapping up the sweet, tangy essence which surprised him even now that she could produce so much of. It had crossed his mind once before that the mating of dragons must be such a terrible affair to demand so much lubricant, yet now he saw it as a challenge, to be just as forceful as one of her kin.

Jayde scrunched up her face in pleasure, moaning loudly as she neared orgasm. It was unbelievable that with such a small tongue, the human could provide her with such overwhelming sensations, the appendage unable to reach the depth of her own, yet so accurate in its motions. Zephyr drew closer, feeling her near the brink, his nose just brushing against her clit, a steady inhalation bathing the sensitive nub of pink with cool air as he probed all of the right places. That was enough. "Zephyr!" The dragoness cried out as she came, soaking him with her essence as he continued his motions, locking his lips about her sex while she squirmed beneath him.

The dragoness was left panting as the soldier finally slowed, and at last came to cease his teasing, barely finding her wits in time to regain control. Jayde's tail swept the earth, taking the mans legs from under him, a feral snarl released into the night as a single movement pinned him to the ground, the dragoness grinding against his body, all the lusts of the world in her eyes. Any games appeared to have been abandoned, at least for the moment, her leaking vent sliding against his member, finally allowing him to glide into a tightness which fit him like a glove. To Jayde, the sensation was electric, the feeling of being so wonderfully full, the bliss of the closeness which she had with her mate, love melded with animalistic passion as he bucked up against her forcefully. Her tail entwined about his leg, squeezing tightly as she shifted her body to meet his thrusts, a greater strength granting him force regardless of their position.

Zephyr groaned softly, "Jayde..." She controlled the pace, almost missing the silent plea in his voice through a lust fuelled haze, inner muscles rippling along the length of his shaft as the dragoness ground her hips against his own. The man grit his teeth, still riding the high of her earlier blue balling, determined not to cum as early as his mate as he felt her passage begin to contract. Jayde cried out, surrendering to the waves of pleasure as she rode her human through her orgasm, soaking his midriff with her juices as he continued to thrust upwards wildly. Her body was more sensitive than any of his own species, more responsive to pleasure, filled with lust and want as the second of a string of climaxes built within her.

The man couldn't hold out much longer, fighting desperately against release, blood running a familiar line down his chin as he bit his lip. Zephyr knew he was fighting a losing battle, a match of instincts and pride where there could be only one winner. Her scent was so strong on the air, the dragoness' voice so loud in his ears, the sensation of her shuddering orgasm at last driving him over the inevitable edge as she cried out his name in passion. Jayde was slowing, her eyes closed as he filled her so thoroughly with his seed, a mess of their combined fluids leaking from her abused vent as she collapsed against her mates chest, mirroring his laboured breaths of exertion.

Jayde was the first to recover, drawing upon the stamina of her race to rise, knowing that Zephyr's inheritance would have him just as ready in moments, meeting his eyes before drawing close to lick the mans cheek playfully. Her own nature had thwarted any plans of dominance, the pleasure of being bred driving all other thoughts from her mind. Yet now a smile curled the corners of her lips, "Just for tonight..." The dragoness had but one fantasy left to play out, one more human aspect of mating she had yet to experience, slipping his still hard member free of her dripping folds, "Whatever I want." She repeated her earlier words, repositioning his cock lower, against her tail base.

Zephyr's eyes widened as he understood her intent, arousal coursing through his body as the head of his member brushed against the dragoness' tailhole. Never had he even taken one of his own kind in this way, the sensation a nigh indescribable experience, a tightness beyond reckoning. Jayde closed her eyes, breathing rapidly as she slowly lowered her body, the motion eased by the sheer quantity of lubricant she had soaked them in through their mating. "Zeph... You're enormous." Her jaw set, the pain of being stretched far beyond what her tail was capable of simulating a wall before her psyche, will power alone allowing her to push through as her small body swallowed more and more of her mates cock. The sensation was like nothing she had ever before experienced, pleasure slowly coming to meld with pain as her limits were reached, an intense sensation coursing through her body as she finally took it all. "I feel so full..." Her expression was one of bliss, a serenity broken by a sharp cry as her human ground his hips against hers.

The young mans hands rested at her thighs, taking a firm grip as he revelled in the sight before him. Jayde, always so dignified, so regal, now squirming in pleasure in his lap, their combined fluids leaking from her abused vent as he took her tail. "You never could hold back, could you?" He teased, "The proud dragoness, always so controlled, so calculating..." Zephyr grinned, a subtle shift in his hips drawing forth a soft gasp, "Except for when you're raising your tail for me." Her cheeks reddened, a subtle shade barely noticeable against those deep green scales, a victory not lost upon Zephyr. His movements were slow, careful, gauged by every reaction that his advanced senses were able to pick up on. Jayde was excited, almost as much as she had been their first time, a thrill to new pleasures as he guided her motions, the dragoness moaning above him.

She took a slow, stuttering breath, barely able to even acknowledge Zephyr's words as she lost herself in the feeling of being taken this way. His pace increased, a pressure building as she found herself nearing climax from this stimulation alone, the human building a swift tempo as he bucked up into that incredible tightness. Jayde cried out, lost in passion, a sea of crimson lust; all rational thought robbed of her as fierce pleasure wracked her body, overcome by an orgasm which hit like a thunderbolt. Her roar rent the still night, a final release as her quivering vent doused the soldier beneath her in her fluids, Zephyr gripping her body tightly as she squirmed within his grasp, guiding her down from the heights of ecstasy. Her breathing was laboured, her tone laced with an undertone of desire, "...More time..."

"What?"

Jayde met his eyes, "One more time." She pulled herself free, staggering slightly as she reached her feet. The limits of fatigue were shattered, a want like no other burning in her loins, all the world blotted out as her focus intensified upon her mate. She knew how dragon-like he had become, watching every subtle adjustment as it had happened, his very nature becoming less brash, less rigid, more sly, more draconic. Zephyr had changed, yet he was still hers, her Dragon Knight, her mate. Her wings half spread, a gentle twitch for balance, the dragoness lowering her body onto all fours, turning away as her tail raised, uttering a demand heard only once before, "Breed me like a dragon!"

The man needed no further encouragement, guiding his member to brush against her slit. She looked so enticing, so seductive, lust clouding his mind as his hands trailed her form. Jayde's breath caught as spread her folds, his member gliding into her burning core, pleasure coursing through each of them as Zephyr set up a pace. This position was her favourite by far, being fucked as hard as a dragoness should be, surrendering to instinct as he took her as one of her kin would. She couldn't believe how she had kept her lusts bottled up for these last few years, how wonderfully intense this last month had been, at last slaking those desires. "Harder!" Her demand was lost within a groan, her tail wrapping about his arm as he gripped its base, using the additional leverage to drive faster, deeper.

Her responses were so addicting, every gasp, every moan of feeling egging him on, the dragoness bucking back against him ferociously as pleasure built. Her stamina was incredible, the effort to keep up his alone as he drove his will into sex of reckless abandon. It was clear that endurance would be no issue here, Jayde hyper sensitive in the wake of her string of climaxes, his own arousal peaking as the form which drove him wild submitted beneath him. Her scent was so strong, an enticing, intoxicating aroma of lust fuelled passion, the wet sound of their mating overcome only by their unified vocalisations. Jayde's breath caught, an overwhelming sensation taking root in the pit of her stomach, coursing through every part of her body as release tore through her. Zephyr was calling her name, yet she was deaf to the sound, overcome only by the bliss of his motions, the feeling of being filled by his virile seed so perfect, so right.

The dragoness slumped at last, uttering a disjointed string of words in her native tongue, Zephyr collapsing beside her as fatigue overcame the man at last. His chest heaved as he gasped for air, his thin, lithe frame cast in the light of the dying embers of their fire, bare skin slick with their combined fluids, what clothing remaining upon him soaked thoroughly. Jayde groaned happily, satisfied at last after her week of hiatus, rolling her body to lie beside her mate, nuzzling against him softly as his arms folded about her. This feeling was undoubtedly the best. Lying here, listening to his heart beat as his hands trailed her flanks, a gentle repose to the fierce motions which would lead her here. Zephyr's eyes were closed, his actions automatic, simply holding his mate close in the afterglow, breathing gradually reduced to a rested subtlety.

"I'm glad that it was me." The man opened his eyes slowly, his gaze drifting into the heavens as the first stars blinked into life, a perfect array of whites in the endless ocean of space, "I'm glad that you chose me... To be your partner." His hand rose, sleeve slipping back to reveal the tribal markings of their pact, "To be your mate." He smiled as Jayde nuzzled against his chest, a warmth emanating from her body, an emotion mirrored through their link as he ran his hands over her scales. "Tomorrow, we'll try it..." His voice bore a relenting tone.

Her eyes caught his, an inquiry evident from her gaze alone as she searched for purpose in his azure orbs, "Zephyr?"

The man sighed softly, finding for himself the few moments which he needed to put his thoughts into order under her crimson surveyance, "I turned down leave for this exercise." His off hand rose, sweeping the breadth of a sky hemmed in by a border or dark trees, her line of sight following his action, "Nothing flies this airspace - and I've been watching ever since we got here to make sure." A smile curled the corner of his lip as her realisation rebounded through their bond, "You once asked me to let you fly the night unbound. For my mate, this is the least I can do."

A few breaths passed, his words taking time to sink in before Jade chuckled, a deep vibration thrumming through his chest as the rough sound reverberated in their shelter, "You never did figure out why I was so eager to take to the air in my true form back then, did you?" Zephyr's expression betrayed his confusion, some fact beyond his scope of calculations as she spoke softly into his ear, "Because it's the only way that I would be large enough for you to fly with me, my Dragon Knight."

Great wings spread, eclipsing the sky under a veil of darkness, blotting out the silver of the moon, the flickering orange of a fires dying embers, even Zephyr's perfect look of surprise; and folded about the two. Tonight, sleep would claim at least one of them.

And there we go. Although it was a struggle at times, I enjoyed writing this - and hopefully anyone taking a look found the read as fun. *Bows* Thanks for the kind words on the last piece, and for all of the rates, reviews and faves (as well as the watches, and friendly PMs ^_^) I really appreciate everyones input. *Smiles* Later, all!
