I want this to kick ff. Goign as slow as I can. Man, without my laptop, it gets to where I have to use my desktop. Well, I have the entire week to myself. So I'm planning on dishing out a chapter a day!

Jack woke up with a start, looking directly at the soft clay wall which lined his entire room. the same dream again. Watching himself die. A black figure, him, a dark room, and a blade...Nothing more. He calmed himself, no longer panting and his heart a steady beat.

"Dad?"

"Yes son?", his dad called from behind the curtains.

His father's pure white furred head poked through the curtains and saw the dampened blankets which Jack lay under.

"That is a lot of sweat..."

"It's the same dream...Over and over again. This time it got to the point where I could no longer feel my own soul, nor my own body..."

"I think we should bring you to the elder then."

His dad stepped in, revealing his features as the white wolf he was. The only difference between him and others was the black paws he had.

"Get dressed."

He took the covers, folded them into a square then set them next to Jack's bed as his son got his clothing on.

Not very many furs wore clothing anymore. The children usually being the only ones to wear it. Their thin coats not able to withstand the freezing cold. Those with thick fur did not need clothing and preferred not to wear it.

"He has told me to keep an eye on you because you are one of the few demigods..."

"Then which of you two is not my real parent?"

"Your mother. she is a black wolf. Did you really think you'd be white if she were your mother?"

"I see...Then who is my real mother?"

"I don't know. Only that she went by the name of Alili."

"sounds familiar."

"Of course! She's your mother.", his dad smiled.

"But what about mom? I mean Anna?"

"She knows."

"Ok. So when do we meet the elder?"

"Now. Come on. Before the storm picks up again."

"What?! But he lives more than a mile up the mountain!"

"Then we better get going. Stay close behind me."

Jack gave a sigh and followed his dad out into the raging winds of the blizzard and they began to tread through the foot high snow to the mountains. Jack could feel his feet nearly freeze as the touched solid rock, looking up through the flurry of snow, taking in the features of the gaping mouth of the cave. Twas only a checkpoint. The way out of their settlement to be exact. Then their course through the mountains began, treading the three feet high snow, forcing through it. Jack's light weight made him possible to walk on top of the snow, but he did so on all fours.

The snow began to get to him quickly as the winds picked up. He stopped a few times to shiver and each time his father got farther away, unphazed by the storm's bitter cold bite. Jack stopped once more, regained his confidence and began treading forward once more, but lost sight of his father. He stopped, unable to find his way back or to the elder. He was more than likely to die if no one came to him. He thought quickly and began digging in the snow, hollowing out the underside of it. He crawled in, made the tunnel larger and bundeled up into a ball. It was enough to keep him warm. But not for long. the cold began seaping into his clothes and soon he couldn't stop shivering. He pulled into a tighter ball and even pulled his arms and legs into the cavity of his thick coat, breathing deeply on his fur to try and keep warm.

But it still wasn't enough.

"I'm...G-g-going to...D-d-d-die out here...", he whimpered.

He heard a soft cry, like a name. But it was feint, like someone whispered it. He put his arms and legs through his coat and pants then crawled out, looking around. A soft white figure came into view, holding a lantern shining with blue light. Her face was unsightable in the storm and the blue light made it harder to see.

"Come...", she whispered to the wind.

Jack did not speak, instead just followed this person. She looked harmless and even gentle, caring...But he still could not withstand the cold and began slowing down. She slowed down too, staying with him. He began to slowly walk, staying at a crawling pace. He nearly collapsed before seeing the blackened cave which he'd never even seen before. He struggled inside, shivered once...twice...then passed out. Unable to even think of anything else.

He felt cold, dreaming that he would die there...then it changed. The dream was invaded upon a blue light. The light washed away all his worries and even the terrible nightmare of watching himself die. Then he opened his eyes, not to a cold wintery cave, but to a warm hut...decorated with charms, a small totem pole. He looked around without moving his head, and spotted the lantern which shone blue, hanging from a hook in the wall. He felt it as if it were giving off warmth, like the sun during the few days of the year it was out.

He felt a soft touch on his forhead and sat up panting, not even knowing why he was.

"You haven't felt my touch before, except during birth. You will feel exhausted the first few times."

"Touch? Birth? What?", he looked at her.

She was a white wolf, pure. No other colors except for white.

"...Mother?"

"Yes?"

His suspicions were right. The white fur marked her as possible, and the question was answered like it was truth...But one more.

"Is your name really Alili?"

"Oh, I remember that one. Met with your father through a few trades. Yes, it is, but not my first and exact name."

"So...You really are my real mother...Then why did you not stay? Why did you leave dad?"

"I never did. I have been here since day one. We lived her actually. where you were conceived and born. Now, you might want to take ffew breaths and give me a hug. Best way to fix the problem of that spell the elder put on you."

she leaned in and hugged him, like a mother would hug her child after being nearly killed. Jack instantly was emptied of his energy and fell limp, unable to hold himself up anymore. His breath was sucked away and the heat left his body. Then it stopped. The consciousness of his own mind broke through and he felt her warmth along side his.

He wrapped his arms around her then felt his mind blacken from thought and he passed out once more. Only to awaken with the hut gone and him laying in the snow. Though he wasn't cold. He was...warm.

"What?"

He thought then patted his own chest, finding a much thicker coat had grown. Very quickly to be exact. It was very matted and thick feeling. He felt something press into his hand and pulled his arm from his side, holding the blue lit lantern. Partially astonishing him, it made his heart jump. But he calmed and stood up, held the lantern out, and walked forward. Did not take him long to realize that he was headed towards the Elder's hut when he saw the paw prints his father left as he treaded ahead.

"Jack! Jack Alvisk! where the hell are you?!"

His father's voice cariied on from to his left, higher up. His dad was standing atop a cliff, shouting out to the mountain side. Jack could feel the rumble from the mountian as it replied. the snow behind his dad began coming down, flowing like an avalanche. Jack stood still though, no fear in what was to happen to him, but more of his father. The avalanche made it to his father, and it all slowed down.

"Jack Where Are-", then he was covered.

There was no trace of his father in the snow. and the avalanche continued. But as it neared Jack, it simmered away, melting and evaporating wihting seconds to shield Jack. The lantern glowed brighter and gave a small sphere of protection to him, pushing the snow over instead. The avalanche finally stopped and jack panicked.

"Dad!", he yelled from his cavity.

Jack pushed forward and the lantern melted the snow around him as he continued on. The snow gave way to black figures, his dad's paws. He then saught to melting his father out and dragged him from the icy prison, holding the lantern close to his body.

"Come on dad. Don't die...", he whimpered.

Jack pulled his father's arm over his shoulder and began to drag him through the snow, using the lantern to melt his way out toill the tunnel gave way ahead of him and aloud wind to blow inside. He pushed through the snow now, further on, following his father's disappearing footsteps and into the Elder's hut.\
