Chapter 3 - Who's there?

THUD!

"Ouch!!" Frost growled and sat up, he had fallen off the branch in his sleep.

"Can I just get one break today? Please?!" He howled angrily and stood up, brushing himself off again. It must have been about midday, Noon-ish, the sun was high in the sky, he sighed and picked up his stick and started to walk again through this endless crazy maze filled with trees.

"I really need to find some help.. Or at the very least.. somewhere I can take shelter in until someone comes looking for me.. Surely my friend has started to worry right..? For my sake.. I hope he has.." Frost sighed and looked down at the ground and then looked back up and continued on, he perked up his ears trying to pick up some sort of sign, a sound of civilization, cars moving, people talking, but nothing, the only thing he could hear were his own feet on the hard ground beneath him.

"Why is it so damn quiet..? I mean at the very least I would expect to hear something other than my feet!" he kept walking, trying to listen for something, anything even. This silence was driving him crazy, and then there it was, like a tiny glint of hope in the darkest of rooms, water, he could hear moving water, instinctively turning to face the direction of the sound. He picked up his pace, moving towards the sound and started to run until he burst into a tiny clearing that has a small stream flowing through it, he looked around the clearing and suddenly smiled.

"Thank you to whoever was listening.. this is the break I needed.." He grinned as his eyes fell onto a nice little cave by the clearing, it was pitch black inside but he didn't care, it was better than staying in some tree!

"Perfect!" he exclaimed happily, he laid his stick against the wall just inside the mouth of the cave and turned back to the small stream. He looked over himself and made a look of disgust, his fur was filthy.

"Well.. You know what.. a nice little swim sounds really good right about now.." He smiled and jumped into the stream, it was sort of shallow but deep enough to soak him up to his waist while standing. He smiled and sat in the cool waters, making it so that only his muzzle was visible above the water.

"Heheh, so much better!" He said happily, running his paws over his body, he rubbed his arms and legs gently, paying special attention to his inner thighs, he rubbed their gently and shivered slightly before moving on to rub his tummy and chest murring happily, he stood up and stepped out of the stream and sat down in front of the cave to dry off. He smiled and crossed his legs and laid his fluffy tail in his lap.

"There.. I feel much better now, all clean!" He smiled and murred happily to himself and laid back against the wall of the cave. He looked up at the sky, the clouds covered the sun temporarily making the scene around him slightly gloomy and dark.

"What am I going to do.. What if no one is looking for me..? Am I going to live out the rest of my days in this seemingly endless forest?" He stopped and looked down again, and slowly closed his eyes, relaxing against the wall, he inhaled the lovely scent of nature and sighed.

"What to do.. What if I hurt him..?" The large red and black dragon said worriedly, pacing back and forth.

"I really should go look for him.. make sure he's ok.. poor little wolfy.." He sighed sadly and fiddled with the tip of his tail as he paced, he growled angrily and sat down again.

"Good Job Drake.. You went through the trouble of saving the poor little wolfy and now you might have hurt him.. grrr.." He stood up suddenly and took off into the air, looking around for the small wolfy.

"Where did you go little guy..?" He said softly and looked left and right, left and right.

"Hey what's that?" He said happily, seeing a little white something in a clearing, he flew down and quietly landed a ways from the clearing. He walked in the direction of the clearing, his feet made large thudding sounds on the hard ground, he saw the clearing up ahead and slowly his eyes fell onto the arctic wolf relaxing against the cave.

"Good at least you look alright.." He said softly looking over the wolf, he smiled to himself.. and leaned forward taking slow steps toward the clearing.

"Hehe.. He's kind of cute.." The dragon said softly taking a few more steps forward toward the clearing, he was almost inside it when - SNAP! - He stepped on a large branch it snapped, the wolf sat up quickly and stared directly over in the direction of the noise and stood up and getting into a defensive stance, he growled.

"Who's there!?"
