Chapter 15: A Cold Loss.

Rain silently fell, lightly pelting the land around me; frozen within the soaked layers clothes that dressed me, I looked up at a pair of headlights about a two stories above me. The guard railing was thrown, ripped violently out from the collision. Barbs of light drove into my pupils, stinging my head and painfully blinding me. Struggling up, my eyes scanned the forest that endlessly circled around. The mountainside was covered in snow, nothing but a familiar winter's sight. Groaning in pain, my feet could only submit to the weight of my body; sending me to my knees. Hacking violently, the cold made my body shake, causing my sight to quiver every now and then. Looking within the snow, a bulging object was underneath the frozen white flakes. Picking up the short-muzzled and red flare gun, the barrel was cracked down revealing the empty tool. Encased within the frozen blanket, an empty cartridge was all that lay around me. Nothing could be seen through the frozen and dark forest, except the sight of footprints within the snow. They seemed to carry around me, and then started towards a glow within the forest. My mind was nothing but a blank canvas of pain and tiredness. Stumbling up once more, I started staggering towards the bright glow within the closed distance. I walked on for an hour, blindly fighting the cold and darkness that was around me. Though with every step the light got closer, and that's all I cared for. Realizing how painfully dry my throat was, a rugged cough came from me once more causing only more hurt. Not as far now, the light was so close that I could feel its warmth, though I realized I didn't want to. A wood cabin was all that stood within the forest, not civilization, not a flame, just a simple; lantern lit cabin. Only able to feel the pain, my mind tried to force memories out; but it didn't help. The sight of a silhouette stopped me, the sight of a person sitting within the window. After a while, more arrived; almost appearing to be some sort of interrogation. Daring a single step forward, my ears honed in on their conversation.

"Is he dead?" The voice was dark and held a growl within it. The sight an emblem came to my eyes, some sort of rune or tribal symbol that was sewn onto his clothes.

"Yes." Her voice was dangerously recognizable; though it wasn't until I saw the flash of white fur, with the light offset of blonde fur. Her eyes were different though, only a solid light blue.

"You're lying." He viciously spoke, staring into her eyes like a killer would.

"No." His clawed paw shot across, slapping her clean and hard. She could only whimper, almost cry from the situation she was forced into. The figure unexpectidly turned to the window, yet to my luck he couldn't see through the darkness like I could. "He is though, the fall killed him." She sobbed out, staring at him in fear.

"You lying bitch!" His body spun around, using the force he backhanded her, sending her face to the left. "You said yourself, you never checked if he was!" He yelled at her, his eyes were narrow and bloodshot.

"H- He wasn't moving though." She fearfully replied, forcing her sight away from him. He grasped her head, and forced her eyes into his.

"That doesn't mean shit!" Her assailent pushed the chair back with a violent jerk sending her reeling back onto the hardened floor. A cackling laugh came out from another figure that hid within the shadows.

"Come on man, I wanna play with her." He was holding a large, sharp knife. Running his finger slowly down the razor of a blade, he stared at her with darkened eyes; lust and thought hidden within them.

"Not yet." The sounds of a chime came in the distance, a jingle of metal tags hitting one another. From the corner of sight and the shadows hold, a gallop revealed a small dog coming to me. His entire back was blazed with different shades of light brown and gold, with the exception of the back of the neck which was a rich white shaped in a rugged and bandana shape. The dogs legs where snowy as the face was a light orange with the short muzzle being white with the head blending with the golden brown fur. His ears hung low and his eyes where wide and dark brown. A rugged blue collar hung around his neck, labeled 'Caesar' and struck against another tag with his address information stating he's from some city. Looking closely I picked off the breed of the crossbred dog. A King Charles Cavalier crossed with a Maltese poodle was walking forward, coming towards me with a long wood like object within his jaws. Hearing the sounds of movement from the window, my attention was diverted from the mysterious dog only to hear their voices.

"Fuck it; bring her into the back room." He spoke in an agitated voice.

"We get to play now?" The other snickered out, eyeing her body with lustful sights.

"Yes... Make sure she enjoys it." He spoke with a twisted smile. A clink of metal hit the ground near me shortly after, and after that, the dog barked at me.

"What was that?" The laughing shadow stopped and focused only on the sounds around him.

"Take her into the other room, I'll check this out." His voice was a sudden whisper as he began walking. Picking up a black metal flashlight, he began for the door. Looking at the dog in rage, I was suddenly taken by the sight of a dark redwood-brown flaked sheath of a short sword. Bending down my frozen paws touched the blade's woven grip like rope. The fabric was made from bamboo, along with the wooden handle and its sheath. The blades guard had the design of a dragon, along with metal designs within the handle. Grasping the saya the sheath came off revealing a sharp and shining wakizashi. The blade shone from the moon the snow and almost lit up around me from it, until the clouds engulfed the skies once more. The crunch of footsteps within the snow narrowed my thoughts. Hiding within the shadows on the side of the house, I held the blade with the sharpened end facing me. As his feet came into view, his light shot towards the sounds of Caesar running into the brush. "Fucking coyotes." His voice was uneasy, but it was supplemented with a nervous laugh afterwards. I brought the wakizashi up and quickly struck down. Making sure the blunt strike wouldn't kill him; I controlled how fast it came down and knocked him out with it. Dropping the sword, I began dragging his body into the cabin, I slowly slumped him down by a fire they had going. The floorboards oddly creaked, almost sending an echo through the cabin. A door was at the end of a hallway, a voice echoed from the room; along with the sound of whimpers.

"Now there's no reason to cry about it, he told me to let you enjoy it." I turned the doors handle, slowly I creaked the door open. Blinding me, his knife was visible from the clear moonlit window above. She was gagged and her hands tied behind her back. She wore a black tank top and a pair of jeans; though she was wearing a winter jacket before. Slowly opening the door more, his knife was brought under the right strap of her shirt. Slicing outwards the strap came off with ease, and showed the fragment of a bra underneath. He slit the other side and let the shirt fall to her lower chest, fully revealing the light pink bra that was hidden under her shirt. By now I was almost behind him, but I couldn't risk grabbing him from my distance. Watching the cold blades tip rise between the bra's front strap; I saw her shiver with fear in her eyes as he swung up, narrowly missing her chin. It made her whimper and shiver from the cold that only helped fuel a twisted and perverted smile that came from the sight of her bare chest.

"See, you're enjoying it ya fuckin half breed."

He started cackling again, like some manic laughing at his own thoughts of life and death. My foot pushed down, and that made the floor creak. He suddenly stopped moving from the sound; only sniffed around for a moment.

"Wait... What the fu-" He turned, and as he did I tackled him; making him strike the wall. He started laughing and rose the disfigured knife up. "Hmm..." He watched the shadows scanning my darkened face. "Another mutt! You half bred dogs are worthless." The room was small, though it was empty and open. The knife was wielded within his left hand. The knife shot to his right, and swung with a sweep to his left. Jolting my head back the knife missed by a country mile, he had speed with it; though my instinct seemed to be faster. his blade round-housed to his right; by first thought I matched left with left and crossed my right arm to his bicep; Shooting my left arm out, I struck his jugular hard and with his stun, brought his left arm and spun it to his back. Kicking in the back of his knee, my right arm struck the other side of his neck clean and slammed his face into the wall. This happened in a split second, and it was surprisingly enough to render him unconscious. She was breathing hard, just barely missing what happened.

"A- Angel?"

Her name was lost, but her face wasn't; just a familiar face that Angel was used talking to. This was his mind, and all I knew was that I'd have to work to play his part naturally.

"Come on, let's get out of here." Taking his knife, I cut the knot that held her to the ground. Her hands covered her chest immediately after; and from there I removed my jacket and passed it to her

"Thanks." She spoke quietly.

"Come on, we should leave before they wake up." Helping her to her feet, we left the cabin and the outside door closed, and started our way to more faint lights in the distance. Like the stars above, they glimmered within the cold winter's night. I was quiet for the next half -hour, and that only made her a bit concerned.

"A- Angel a-are you okay?" I couldn't tell if she was shivering or just stuttering from the thoughts of what happened before.

"I hit my head..." I whispered the reply, nothing more but the faint wisp of a wind breeze. The stinging pain would bother anyone, just repressed thoughts that were shattered when impact hit them. I blinked for a bit, just pressing forward, until a clear fragment of Angel's past came into my head.

"Alpha five this is blackbird seven-three-two, radio check, over." My eyes opened and all I could do was breathe slowly. Looking around the hull of a helicopter, my eyes studied the window ahead. Trees, a forest boreal, deciduous, I couldn't tell. Though the sight of the stars in the sky was something to look forward to. The static from the radio jumped a bit, the pilot; hidden underneath a mask brought a speaker up. "Say again alpha five, your message never came through, over."

A strong wind pelted the side of the chopper; the rocking made me feel uneasy; nervous about being within the metal contraption. The static bounced again, the words were entirely unclear. Watching the darkened shadows of snowy green dart by, my eyes directed to the rest of the people within the vessel. They were calm, weapons and supplies were with them; along with the cold sense of death within their eyes.

"What the fuck?" The pilot's voice broke the silence. A whistle like sound was faintly heard through the winter's cold wind, though it would grow and it kept coming closer to us. Beeping arose, like a frantic sound that only got louder. "Shit! We've been tagged!" A sharp turn made the memory skip itself, jumping between scenes like some poorly directed film. "Mayday, Mayday, Mayday, this is blackbird seven-three-two, we are at ninety-three degrees east, seventy-five degrees north, we are going down, say again, we are going down, I have ten people aboard this helicopter and I require immediate assistance, over!" He turned to us, we were high up, very high; with the metal chassis spinning out and plummeting to the earth. "Fuck I can't hold her! Brace yourselves it's going to get rough!" Grasping a bar for support, the only thing we all could see was the sight of land, the sight of a mountainside within snow-cold winter; that and the depths of hell that awaited us below. Nothing but a light met me as we crashed down, that and the darkness that came shortly after. Within the ripple of these past events, I realized that we both were in the middle of the city streets. She gave a soft shiver as she studied the open and empty snow-filled street around us. With nothing but the damp scent of concrete and trash, we passed down the double lane road; old buildings stood tall and strong from a times test, and some warehouses were here with the sight of old broken houses and small apartments. Studying some of the blurred concrete boxes, graffiti stating the Calla's in bright silver or gray with the sight of a symbol below it was visible against a house. Like a hammer striking metal, a far echoing sound painfully screeched against my skull, pain that caused me to grunt out.

"A-are you okay?" She chattered out, her arms were crossed across her chest once more, and her entire body violently shivered.

"Besides my head I feel fine, though by the looks of it, you're not doing too well." She gave a forced laugh as a reply.

"What me? I'm perfectly fine." She was still shaking, almost appeared worst then before. She started to stagger a bit, her breathing was raced; quick almost panic-like breaths that arose and fogged within the cold air. She started to slip, and at that point I began walking beside her. Nearing what appeared to be the rich-suburban ends of the city, her feet gave way, just a trembling cold body that sat on her knees for a while. Kneeling down, I gave her my shoulder and helped her up.

"I, I'm sorry I, I'm cold." Her voice trembled and her body shivered; staring at her arm, the fur she had was short, not by much, though it was what I expected.

"Nie-" My mind stopped to my thoughts.

"Who?" She still shivered her words out.

"Sorry I can't think right now... What may your name be?" I spoke slowly and softly as we walked further down the dark, clouded street.

"I'm Yukiko. Who else could I be? I've known you for years."

"I hit my head... Do you know of anywhere we could go from here?" The cold was enough to make her breaths look like a solid white.

"If we continue straight down to, to Charles boulevard and go right about the fifth street off it should take us down to ninety-seventh, fr- From there we go to Cartier's pub and that's about three, four blocks till we're at your apartment."

"Okay, can you make it?"

"This retriever can make it."

We walked on for about another hour until we reached Charles Boulevard. The street was the normal large, multi-lane road that seemed to span down like a highway. Streets led on and off of the large road which only led deeper into the urban labyrinth. Walking with her down the cold snowy road, large commercial buildings followed the road deeper into the city. Passing by the sounds of voices, watchful sets of eyes stared at us as we walked on.

"Look over there." A voice whispered to another with a small chuckle.

"Fucking dogs." Another spoke staring at us.

"They never should've been allowed into our city." Another's voice spoke in a cold tone, taking her view away as we passed onwards through the falling snow. Nothing but white peaceful crystals fell downwards to the earth around us, and landed on the dark slicked road ahead. She slipped, and my arm just caught her. Pulling her up to her feet, I felt her shiver; sending the motion through my chest. It wasn't my heart that beat the way it did, but it still felt as familiar as it would be if Kiyoko was next to me.

'Who the hell is she?' My mind was shot with Angels thoughts though we were thinking the same question again and again. 'Who are they really?' I only wanted the truth, but that was distracted with the sounds of distant howls. Realizing for the first time, my heart began racing whenever wolves began their serenade and it was by something other than fear or nervousness. Passing by a well lit building, Yukiko slipped once more with a shake; causing my immediate concern.

'Cartier's pub.' An old wood sign hung above us with the streetlights shining down upon the dark redwood. The bar was in represented in a modern European fashion; wooden black-painted strips were the detail upon the bar along with its white outside shell. Glass windows were across three sides of the pub, with the elm hardwood flooring that guided past the dark maple tables, chairs and connected the redwood island that stood with the taps in the middle of the room. Giving her my shoulder; I forced Yukiko upwards, and walked her into the sudden heat of stunning silence. Emptiness filled the room with the exception of the bartender who eyed us both with curiosity as he wiped down a glass mug.

'Again with the cats.' A feline's fur was a blaze of orange with the blend of white; as his eyes were simple solid amber.

"You two okay?" His voice was surprisingly riddled with worry and surprise unlike the others who acted upon a cold shell. Shaking some snow off, his eyes widened at the sight of my face. "Angel?" He knew my name; suddenly it aroused to me as it not being a good thing. Gazing towards the figure on my shoulder, he put the glass down and walked over. "Yukiko? What the hell happened?"

Sitting us down to a table, his movements were quick as he filled two glasses, one oddly with hot chocolate, and the other with clear water and walked over. "You hit your head?"

"Yeah, after the truck went off the road."

"We've established that part... Do you remember anything?"

"Hardly know my name."

He turned to Yukiko. "And you were attacked. Are you okay?"

"I'm fine Aaron, Angel helped me out." She took a greedy sip of the hot drink, letting the liquid melt her frozen body.

"If they ever go near you again I'll fuck em over."

"Aaron."

"No, nobody touches my girl."

'My girl?' The words gave a familiar chill down my back; gave me the familiar sense of mixed and confusing emotions.

"Where are they, I'll show em what an old member of the Callas can do."

"Aaron!" She called out through the empty pub, causing him to calm down.

"Yes."

"Angel already handled it."

"Yeah? It's a good thing you're gay friend used to be in the Special Forces."

"Special forces?" I interrupted before any more chatter occurred.

"Yeah, you know military." Aaron replied, turning back to her.

"... Wait ga-" I was interrupted by their continued conversation on the subject. Giving a quiet sigh, I took a sip of water for my dry throat; and only listened to whatever my mind would give me.

"He doesn't know where he lives?"

"No."

Looking at the clock, he looked back to me.

"Well it's a slow night, and this guy will have to leave at some point... Yeah, I can close up shop for a while and drive all of you to his place."

"Do you have a place to stay? Your voice sounds a bit rough." Yukiko stared into his eyes with concern.

"My friend kinda threw me out, again." He spoke quietly, trying to make sure I couldn't hear him.

"You can stay at my place for the night." Throwing the suggestion out to him, he gave a nervous smile.

"Yeah uh." He chuckled. "I- I mean I shouldn't be stay at your place, because, well I- uh..." Confusion entered my mind as he started laughing a bit.

"Aaron!"

"I'm sorry, but that's just too funny. I can't believe he would offer something like that." Aaron emphasized the term he within his speech; causing Yukiko's and my attention towards it.

"Aaron..." He sighed at the sound of her tone.

"Sorry." He still suppressed a laugh as he walked off a bit; lost in thought.

"Damnit... I can't believe I'm honestly saying this..." He whispered softly to himself. "Yeah, it would probably be best if I did; have no cash for a motel." Yukiko shot a small; victories smile to compensate his bitter look. Walking up to him, she spoke softly into his ear; which softly twitched to the feeling of her breath near it.

"I uh." He nervously laughed, grabbed a coat, and walked out signaling that we should follow him. Stepping back into the colden winters air, he walked over towards an old, four-door car.

"Everyone into the car." He spoke, unlocking the door. "I still can't believe I'm doing this..." he grumbled under his breath, as I walked towards the back of the car. Sitting down, the vehicle vibrated as the engine began to purr on. Driving past the streams of streetlights, there were rare sights of people who walked into the snowy night as the car drove past alleyways and streets. The majority were feline, though every now and then, different silhouettes came from the shadows of the night. About another ten minutes of driving and we were in front of a tall tower of a building. "Alright, we're here." A glass door stood out front; two stone pillars held a glass and wooden cover above. "Well unlock the door, I'm freezing out here." He gave a chatter of his teeth, and wrapped his jacket around him. Walking up to the door; I checked my pockets to see if I had anything to unlock it with. Pulling out a keychain that held an odd black device on it, my eyes fell to a pillar beside me. Waving the device by it, the door buzzed and opened when I pulled it. "Ta-da he did it. Maybe he didn't forget everything."

"He forgot a hell of a lot Aaron." Having both of them step towards warmth once more, my ears tuned to the sounds of howls from somewhere deep in the nights darkness. "Angel?" Her voice sparked with interest.

"Yes, I'm coming in." Following them towards a steel door, the sounds of movement came from above. About half a minute later, the doors opened up to reveal a small room. Still following them, someone pushed a device on the side, and the doors slid shut. An odd pulling feeling came into my chest as the sound came back. After a restless wait, the doors opened up into a carpeted hallway.

"Okay room ten nineteen is yours. A nice big apartment room too." The hallway was long, and after counting the sides of the other rooms, I finally found the room. Trying the keys from the keychain, my eyes noticed that one was snapped off; possibly from the trucks collision. Trying one last key, the lock opened; and led towards a twin bedroom apartment with hardwood flooring and a full kitchen. A large living area was what it opened up to, with the kitchen on the right of me, and a closet on the left. Stepping further into the large room, a flat; black screened box stood on the far right wall with a couch on the left and a small maple table with a glass top. Straight ahead was a glass sliding door which showed the cities lights from the height we all were at. Staring to my left an empty room was hidden behind a cracked door. To my right was a wide open and small hallway; another closet stood to my left, and two doors, one open the other closed, were at the end. One was a bathroom with tiled floors, twin sinks with a mirror above, and a large twin headed walk in shower. The other was my bedroom that was below room temperature from the window being wide open. The room had hard redwood floors, along with the rest of the home, and light green walls that had crown moldings all across the top and bottom of the wall that matched the flow with the rest of the flat. With large dark oak drawers and a very large bed, the room gave some repeated memories. Just every lonesome night spent within it, and nothing but the moon or the rain meeting me night after night. Leaving the room and door closed, sounds from the living room came to my ears. They were both talking once more, just dealing with some problem. My eyes caught the picture frames that hung around the room. A lot of nature pictures, but one caught my eye. It was a picture of Angel and another figure standing with arms around their shoulders a mixed within a bright, heart filled moment. Some giggling came from behind, and that was from Aaron.

"I remember him. You always called him Red; never understood why, but whatever doesn't matter too much."

"You need something?"

"Yes, your couch changes into a bed, and I'm having a bit of a quarrel with the cursed thing." Moving over to assist him, we both gave a bit of a fought before it finally dropped into a large bed. Letting Angels mind free for a moment, he made his way into the bedrooms closet, in which he took some blankets from it. Grabbing an extra pillow, I walked back to them in the large living room.

"Thank you, but there is one last thing." Listening to his request, my eyes fell towards Yukiko, who was staring at the falling snow outside, and the cities lights that twinkled below us.

"Yukiko really does not want to go back home; well I mean she doesn't want to go back onto the streets tonight and there isn't enough room at her place for me because her sister has been staying with her, and she kind of wants to spend the night with me." His eyes scanned away from my face uneasily. Studying his face and what appeared to be a blush; I finally agreed even though inside I felt that Angel had the intention to yell at him. He gave a small smile to me. "Hey, cheers mate."

"Cheers." It was an odd mixture of emotions; though Angel kept it dug and hidden within his mind as I walked into the frigid bedroom, only to see my filthy body within a large mirror. Giving a lengthy sigh, my eyes stared at another door within the room. Walking into it there was a small four pieced ensuite that once more had a walk-in shower. Stripping down and putting my clothes into a white laundry basket, I stepped into the glass shower and turned the hot water on. Evening out the temperature of the water, I felt everything relax from the odd night. With nothing but the soothing water pelt down on my back and washed away all the dirt and blood from the impact. Slowly breathing as the mist rose upwards; I closed my eyes and cleared my mind of everything. Howls entered my mind, nothing but the sounds of their songs so far away that brought a warm feeling to my heart. Though my heart, it still raced from something; some excitement that only pulsed and forced blood through my body. The lights began to sting my eyes, and the thoughts of hunting suddenly came to mind; my nose to the ground and nothing but the rustle of the wind, and the scent of prey within the mountains air. Violently shaking the thought from my mind, I quickly turned the water off and dried my pelt off with a towel. Turning the lights off within my room, I crawled underneath the warm covers that constantly fought with the frozen space and only let those howls help me rest.

"What would you remember?" Her voice was so soft, young, and familiar. Kiyoko, it could only be her. "You know, after all this." White streams triumphantly flowed downwards, onto the high stone around us. The moon was the largest I'd ever seen it, and the howls that night were powerful and never seemed to end.

"I don't know... Though I hope I remember you." Our voices were exceptionally young; just familiar naive sounds of a youthful love. More and more howls called to the winds, carrying themselves off onto the night's horizon. I suddenly looked around me; the trees were so easily recognizable, along with the scents of the earth. The den was not too far away, though all that mattered to me was the sounds of her breathing at that moment.

"I've always wanted to..." Speaking in awe, her voice was hardly heard over the sounds of song.

"Well, can't you?" My voice replied to hers with a soft tone.

"What? No that's against my packs laws." She sounded shocked; astonished by what I spoke of.

"Pack laws?"

She sighed in a scolding manner, to whom I'd never know. "I keep forgetting you've never had a pack and that you're not all... Wolf." I almost looked away from her words, just ashamed that I'd even be there with her. That I was even allowed to listen to her wonderful kind cry out into the eternal nights rest; that I was even allowed to know her name. "Pack laws are traditions that my mountains decided upon years and years ago; one we could never break was that we cannot howl until full grown. It's considered impure and is a heinous crime to commit. They say those who do get their spirits stripped from them, and the only way to let them be one with it again is to kill them."

"K- Kill?"

"Yes, I had to run away with my sister; we were both accused by the others of falling short to it and destroying our packs purity. We were hunted by them against the will of our parents and thrown into a lonesome and cold world."

"What happened after?" I spoke silently; noticing that the howls died down

"Oh, well we walked on for as far as our legs could take us; until we were crossing a set of mountains and an avalanche occurred. I never saw my sister after it; in fact I would've been killed without Fylakas's help."

"What does Fylakas want? I mean from us."

"He says that a great darkness is coming, or that it has been for years. He speaks of these olden ones; alchemists or magicians who created the seal of Tengoku or Kingdom of Heaven. He says that a passage to it has arisen upon the earth, but darkness is attempting to claim it."

"That sounds like lunacy. Kingdom of Heaven, darkness, it sounds like some olden heroes tale."

"I've seen these demons myself, and they are scary enough." Her body shook from the sudden thought, though the howls echoing fourth calmed her. Suddenly silent, odd thoughts came to my mind.

"You said before that you can't howl because of your packs laws."

"Yes, what about it?"

"We're not on your mountain." Nervously moving my paw against the earth, it took me a couple seconds before I let a howl outwards and was stunned by the full unbroken note that would rarely come from a pup. Her eyes were wide from the unexpected and powerful sound that reached to the ends of the forest; and reached the sky itself. Everything felt clear like a passing stream, it all felt bright; like the moon above, and it was simply perfect all within itself. Warmth flowed through my body, exploding from my chest with the loud beats of my heart. Staring at her shadowed face hidden under the odd batch of dark-red fur and those emerald eyes that didn't go through me; that almost saw me as something, not as just another passing shadow. Her sleek black body was patterned with the red shards of blood, and her chest down was nothing but that beautifully whitened pelt.

"How did it feel?" She spoke with anxiety and curiosity; like an excited cub, she hardly stood without moving from excitement.

"It felt like nothing I've felt before." Without skipping a beat she let a howl outwards that sounded more like an angel's voice speaking softly to me, breaching the winds of a storm and holding me before the light. Speechless by the peaceful serenade of her howl, my heart wanted that familiar feeling once more, and after a second I could hardly resist howling once more. It almost faltered; the pitch lowered and then brought itself back up; sending the sound once more through the forest. Listening for any eager reply, no sound arose through the puffed form trees that swayed gently through the winds touch. Nothing came, hardly the sounds of a bat flapping frantically to catch its prey, hardly the sounds of the grass whispering into the wind, and hardly the sounds of her breathing next to me. Just alone and isolated from it all, though I was close to her, I'd never felt so far away. Her howls brought the sounds of a faraway pack, their reply as long as they were strong. It brought lights to her eyes, a shining star that pierced me and only raced my heart. Knowing that she was oblivious to the fact and realizing that she didn't recognize me, it always arose in my mind that I knew her, somewhere through my mind, constantly tearing away at my thoughts she was there; whether she was wolf or not, she was there. Howling once more, my pitch changed through and through, causing the sound to appear like a melody. Silence was the reply, until she giggled a bit.

"I think you're supposed to call it out, not try to sing the forest to sleep."

Hardly a second later, the entire forest erupted with their calls. Their calls would've awoken the gods themselves, though they didn't seem to last forever. Remembering a familiar figures form from the trees, we followed him back to the den.

"I'd like to ask you some more questions."

"Tomorrow." Only listening to the calls that seemed to last all night, I would close my eyes until sleep would finally take the best of me.

"You have to try and remember Senshi, and just know that we've all been trying to find the truth for a long time; you're the only person who can help." Karisif spoke through a sudden shift of darkness, and I awoke back in that small penned field. Suddenly I was all alone with nothing, no sound, no wind, no movement or color, and with nothing but my empty mind. Then the sight of a form, a misted and foggy shadow arose from thin air, staring at the field from the far wall. More shifts of images, and I was standing within the desert city, people walking back and forth, and the cloak I followed before turned the corner of shadows; from the corner of my eye I caught onto the misted sight; before it faded within the night. The form was so peaceful though swaying before the nullified wind. Only a peaceful language would arise; a soft swaying hand that only proceeded deeper within my past.

"Who are you?" I spoke, finally able to control my ability of movement. No reply came as the mist as it drove into the depths of the shell I held. Angels past memories would play; only fractions of some important shards of memories that would blind me with the sudden pain of a forced reminder. Nothing but the snow would fall here, small flakes that had touched the skies themselves and sent nothing but a message downwards. I was alone here; a cities park that was decorated with the colors of winter. Just wired lights hung across the snow covered banks of a large and open park. My feet seemed to stay upon the pathways; virtually staying within the cement lines as my head pounded away with questions that I still couldn't answer to this day. With my paws within the pockets of a thick leather jacket, I walked on through the harsh snow and the colds bite. Stuck within an isolated hate; the voices of others would pelt my shell with vulgar and hated terms that would only tear my heart away. With sudden painful urges, my mind melted down; burning thought and memory through my sockets for eyes. I couldn't tell if there was a cry outwards or only the simple sound of gagging; but I knew once a form took place through my mind; pulsing a hatred of blood-ridden color through the rune that once lay across my fur; I knew something went wrong. Watching my mind stagger; my will cut like paper, and my body broke from the brittle bones it was made upon. I raised my head to see the fiery blood-red eyes of the demon and that small twisted smile it would make as the shadows freely engulfed my soul.
