#10 of A Shockingly Pleasant Change

Infamy

I decided not to sit around inside to wait for Lethias to come back. "Anyone want to fly?" I offered.

They all stared at me blankly.

"You can fly now?" Cooper asked with disbelief.

Strype looked down at her and smiled. "I can fly, if I want to. It's just not something I chose to do."

Frost sighed. "You furs and your superpowered alter egos. Can't anyone just be normal?"

"We're furs, we're not normal." Cole said dryly.

"Touche." Frost retorted.

"Well dude, honestly, I always thought the reason we were furs was because we were fantasizing about being something we weren't. If we were fantasizing, we might as well go all the way." I said with a shrug. "Either way, does anyone want to go flying before Lethias get's too far away?"

"Take me with you?." Ember practically begged.

"Come on." I took her hand, and the two of us quickly ran down to the front lawn, waiting to bolt into the sky. I looked up to see if Lethias was above us, but I couldn't see him, even with my feline eyes.

A moment later, Cooper was at the front window, yelling at us. "I thought we said no magic! That includes flying!"

"It's just flying, hardly dangerous!" I called back, then looked into Ember's eyes. "You ready?" I asked.

"Just be gentle."

I grabbed her tight and leapt into the air, making sure my telekinesis carried us high into the sky.

"Woohoo!" She yelled, overwhelmed by the euphoria of flying. Her face was buried in my chest, so I tried to turn her around as we flew so she could see the buildings and the setting sun. "Oh my god, we're really flying!" She yelled.

"Yeah, but be careful, I have to keep a hold of you so I don't drop you." I explained. I looked over her head to see what direction Lethias went. I saw him overtop the tallest buildings in town.

"We're off, you ready!" I asked.

"Oh yeah! Let's go!"

I leaned into the sky, and off we went, the both of us bolting through the sky. I had to told her really tight, because she wasn't being controlled by my telekinesis, who knows what kind of hell that could do to her insides. I felt this was safer.

We zipped along in the sky, quickly approaching Lethias, who was trying to glide over the city. "Hey, Lethias!" I shouted.

Caught somewhat off guard, he quickly spun his head around to see who it was, causing him to lose his balance and fall a good ten meters before righting himself in the air. "Whoa, you coulda warned me!" He yelled.

"He could have touched you!" Ember laughed. "Imagine how fucked up you would have been if he did that!"

"Yeah, what she said!" I added. "Let's touch down for a second."

"I like flying, this is great. Stretching my wings is fantastic!"

He did have an impressive wingspan. Had to be a good 12 feet in either direction, on his relatively small dragon frame.

He was quite impressive.

"Do we have to land?" Ember whined. "This is fun!"

"Ember, hun, it's a lot easier to talk if we're on the ground." I explained.

She just sighed defeat, so I hovered my way down to the top of the nearest building. Okay, it's not the ground, but it's somewhere I can put my feet to rest. Lethias was soon to follow behind.

"So, why are we not flying, and you never told me you could fly!?" Lethias exclaimed.

"Well, in all fairness I just learned last night."

"Well, what's up?"

"I just figured that if you were gonna do your thing in public, make yourself known, you could use some moral support." I offered.

"And you're going to be his support?" Ember questioned. "Don't you think that's kind of arrogant?"

I just shrugged. "Not really. I've been out there, he hasn't." I turned to Lethias. "So, we gonna do this or not?"

He just grinned, and nodded, a small spout of flame emerging from his beak.

I tapped him on his beak in a disciplinary way. "No, there will be no flame!" I warned. "We're not looking to evoke fear here."

He growled a bit, but stopped because he knew I was right.

Without further warning, I grabbed Ember and ran to the edge of the building, literally diving off onto the ground below. Lethias was not far behind.

"Whoooaaaaahhhh!" Ember yelled, as if on a roller-coaster as we fell to the ground.

I let myself do a freefall half the way down, but flipped around, feet down, and hovered gently the rest of the way down.

There was only like 15-20 people within seeing range, and all gasped at the sight of me falling, but hushed up when they saw I was fine. I let Ember go and did a little bow for the crowd, which elicited a round of applause.

"Thank you, thank you." I said, then pointed to the sky. "Now I give you the main attraction."

Lethias swooped down low over the crowd, and I have to say, the reaction wasn't quite as pleasant as mine. Cars screeched to a stop, people screamed, everyone was ducking and covering like it was an attack.

"Guys, guys, he's cool, I promise." I yelled as I raised my hands in a calming manner. Ember was doing the same.

Lethais flew back around and perched himself on a lamp post, preening his wings a little before looking down at the crowd. "Why hallo thar!" He said in a thick English accent.

People slowly stood up, taking their hands off their heads to actually get a good look at Lethias. They still didn't seem convinced, I could still feel their fear.

"Well, jolly good show." Lethias continued. "You might think I was dangerous, but noooo, I'm puuuurfectly harmless."

I pushed some people aside to get to the lamp post. I jumped and climbed up it like a monkey perching myself on the top of the pole beside Lethias. I had to whisper in his ear, "Dude, be gentle on the lamp post, your claws are digging right into the metal."

He looked down and slowly released his grip. I could tell he was embarrassed, but he didn't show it.

"Well everyone, this is my friend Lethias, he's a cute dragon. Anyone want to come touch him?" I offered, then began to give him a few gentle scritches between his wings. I heard a noise from deep within his chest, I think it was a churr or a murr. I don't claim to know, ask him.

I jumped down to the ground and Lethias jumped down after me. He made a loud thump, I made no sound.

Everyone's eyes were on us. Well, on Lethias. Traffic had stopped for a block in all directions, and we were gathering an impressive crowd.

"Well, come up, he won't bite you." I urged the crowd, who remained in a stunned silence for a moment.

"Can I touch the dragon mommy?" I heard a young child say.

"No!" His mother said sharply.

"Aww, come on!" I called to the mother. "He's not just an animal."

Nobody spoke, we were amidst a silence so uncomfortable I expected an explosion to rock a nearby building. Lethias was now stretching his wings and shaking them off.

"Cool!" I heard someone in the crowd say.

The first one to come forward was a young boy, no older than 16 years. Must have been a nerd or something, he didn't look like a jock or a punk.

"Dude, this is so cool, can I really touch him?" The kid asked me.

I just shrugged. "Don't ask me, ask him."

Lethias got down onto all fours and shook himself off, then raised a claw, palm up. "My name is Lethias, and if you wish, you may touch my scales." He said calmly, dropping the English accent.

Ember pushed her way through the crowd. "You know what, I haven't touched Lethias yet, I want to touch him too. Don't leave me out."

The young kid and Ember both sat there, petting Lethias on his back and neck, Lethias was making that cutesy animal noise the entire time. You could tell in his eyes and in his heart, he was a happy dragon.

"Guys, come here!" The kid said. "Come check this out!"

With that, more people came in to see Lethias. Like a wave of trust washed over them and they just had to give into their curiosity.

I took the time to explain to them our bodies, that we used to be humans, and that this was our souls emerging for the world to see.

People were confused, of course, but they still held onto my every word. Ember's too, she was helping me explain what happened as best we could explain it. We were sure to tell everyone that we were all human once, and that we need to be treated as such.

It was like a protest and an awareness speech all at once. We seemed to win the crowd over.

When the hype died down a little, I pulled away from the crowd, letting Ember take care of them for a while. I called Frost, as he was the only one back at Strype's place that had a cell phone. I told him our plans and where we were going, in case he wanted to come say hi.

When we were done, Lethias, Ember, and myself all flew out of the busy street and went to the nearest mall to start it all over again. Mostly, the reactions were the same. People were scared at first, but with some convincing of our kind nature, they came to their senses and came to love us.

We did this in many locations before the sun began to set, signaling to us that our time was up. Lethias wanted some sun left to power the thermals under his wings to ease the flight home.

I thought the three of us got to a lot of people, and by the end of the day, only a few wouldn't come up and say hi. Hell, I even got an offer to be a mascot. I had to respectfully decline, telling them that I was here for awareness, not to be put on display.

He gave me his card anyway.

There were news crews sent to our locations, but we were gone before they would get there. There were, however, people with camcorders and cameras to take pictures and video of our little expositions.

And to top it all off, every crowd was bigger than the last, word was spreading fast. It was a lot of fun, and it was all done only in a couple of hours.

At the very end, at our last destination, a park where a baseball game was being held, a kid came to us with a broken arm to see Lethias. I brought the kid over and told him I could heal his broken arm. He was euphoric when he heard that. I sliced open the cast with my claw and put my paw on his arm. His parents were nowhere to be found for some reason, so I did the healing in private.

After that, we all left. I let Lethias fly back to his house before Ember and I did. She wanted to go flying with me some more, so I did what I could to keep her happy that way. She really seemed to appreciate it, and when we made it back to the apartment, she thanked me and gave me a big hug.

She was purring, it was so cute.

We took the time to tell Strype, Cooper, Frost, and Cole about what we did, but we all hit the hay early.

The next day was quite a bit more interesting; we woke up in the apartment to people out front, baring signs. I originally thought they'd be protest signs, but then I actually took the time to read some of them. "Save me tiger!" One said. "All hail Dragons!" Another said. "Furries for the Lulz" another said.

These were not signs of protest, these were signs of love! I couldn't believe this, our little acts of kindness truly were paying off after all!

I didn't go out and meet any of the fans, instead I ate what was left of some beef in the fridge. It was raw and gross, but it was amazing how good raw meat tasted all of a sudden.

I really was changing, it was amazing how I went from being a pseudo carnivore to a real one. I actually considered hunting for my food, but as much as my body urged me to do so, my morals were still there; that told me that I wasn't allowed to go hunting. Humans killed enough of the planet, they didn't need my help.

At around 9 AM, Strype got some big baggy army patterned pants and an overshirt, and headed outside.

"Where you goin?" I asked.

He just shrugged. "Work, dude. I've been gone for three days, they'll be wondering where I am." That made perfect sense, I didn't question him.

When he got outside, the fans all milled around him, asking him a million questions all at once. He just walked down the driveway all around the apartments, fans clamoring around him the entire way.

He was a good sport about it, calmly answering questions as they came to him, even when the bus came to pick him up, some followed him into the bus! The rest of them returned to the front yard.

I wonder how they found out we lived here. I mean, sure, we weren't being stealthy, but I didn't recall seeing anyone following me or watching me any of the times I entered or exited the house.

"Come on man." I was telling Cole. "Just go out there, obviously they aren't going to be scared of you." I urged.

He just sighed and glared at me. "If they throw anything at me, I'll throw it back, and someone'll get hurt." He warned.

I just rolled my eyes and pushed him out the front door.

Pussy. Big hulking husky anthro still afraid of the humans.

However, when he started talking about Paintball, he gathered a few people who were also fans to talk about it. They were asking him what he'd use for camo now that he was a husky. Asked him about how the change altered his abilities to play, etc.

He eventually warmed up to the people, which was great. It meant he was slowly getting more comfortable.

"You know, I don't exactly want the whole world knowing where we live." Frost said Dryly. "I don't want to live the life of a celebrity, unless I'm rich."

"Well, I think it's to late for that." I noted. "Besides, at least you're famous!"

"Yeah, well no shit. Thankfully I'm moving at the end of the month." He said as he shook his head, then got out some bacon to fry up.

When he was done eating, Frost too decided to go leave for work. He wore a grey business suit, so he looked more like his fursona. It was cool to see these alternate personalities of ours come to life with such vigor.

Ember and Cooper were talking amongst one another up in Strype's room, and I saw Lethias climb his way up onto the roof for some sun tanning.

When he left, Frost was met with the same eagerness and love that Strype was. He got the same treatment.

I bet he was a little upset, but he didn't show it.

Cooper had to leave too. "Well, I don't really want to go, I did just start, but I need money too. I have to go to work." She gave Ember a hug and apologized before leaving.

Of course, Cooper was subject to the same attention Frost and Strype were.

"So, what about you?" I asked Ember. "Don't you have a job?"

She just shrugged. "Who cares? That job sucks, I'm probably fired by now."

"You don't care?"

"Not at all. There's a lot of better things I can do now that I have special abilities." She said.

I just laughed. "Hun, you'd make an excellent whore in the southern states!" I got a slap for that, but she was still laughing. Sounded like a joke she would make.

"Where's Welnis?" I asked her. "It's been quite a while since they were here. I just kinda thought he would still be around, hanging with you."

She just shrugged again. "He's got Ether and a new body to play with, can you blame him?"

"No, not really. I can't say I wouldn't want to be doing the same thing if I was in his position. Besides, give him time, the novelty will wear off, and he'll be sure to come visit. Probably later today, actually." I reassured her.

"Meh, we'll see." She sighed.

Ugh, so negative.

Out of curiosity, I decided to try something to cheer her up. Now, this was something I knew existed in my story, my character could do it, but again, it was experimental with me. I put my hand on her chest and focused my healing energy on her.

She didn't try to stop me, she wasn't too anal about her chest.

A moment later, a small glow emanated from my paw, and she got weak at the knees, her eyes rolling into the back of her head. Her jaw was quivering, and her tail was twitching.

I'd think she was dying if I didn't feel the ecstacy coming from her. I swear, I could feel the emotions of all those around me.

I withdrew my paw from her chest and she fell to the ground, panting deeply.

"Holy fuck!" She said in between gasps. "Do that again!" She roughly grabbed my paw and put it on her chest again, so I happily obliged.

She told me it was like a full body orgasm, so of course I had to oblige. I had to try to ignore the scent that was filling the air. I think it was a pheromone or something, but I was able to control myself and not become some horny cat.

She had me keep that up for a good half hour before she was too tired to continue, when I got a call.

I picked up the phone. "Ola!" I said cheerfully.

"Hey Gordon." My mom said.

"Hey mom, what's up?" I asked.

"When are you coming home? You left so suddenly."

"Can you blame me? Life in Norwich isn't particularly interesting, other than the vast plethora of meat you have in the freezer. Besides, I see a lot more opportunity here in London to make a name for myself."

"What, so you're just leaving? That's it?"

I took in a deep sigh. "Not exactly. I'm just gonna stay here for a couple weeks, you know, get some reputation here before deciding what I want to do."

I heard her sigh deeply on the other side of the phone. "Fine, if that's the way you want it to be."

"Don't try to guilt trip me mom, tell me you wouldn't be doing the same thing as me if you were in my position."

There was a long silence on the other end. Ember was smiling at me.

She didn't answer my question, she just moved onto the next topic. "Here, your Brother wants to talk to you." She said.

I heard some rustling and clutter at the other end for a moment before my brother picked up the phone. "Yo, whassup?" He asked enthusiastically.

"Nommuch. How about you?"

"Same. Hey, can I come visit you guys?"

I shrugged. "Ask mom, if she says it's okay, I'll come get you tomorrow to come visit for a while."

Ember was shrugging her shoulders exaggeratedly, as if to ask, "Who are you talking to?"

I mouthed the words, "My Brother." I think she got it.

I waited for Sam to ask. He came back. "She said as long as you arrange transportation I can come."

"Deal, I'll see you tomorrow morning at 11ish, probably earlier."

"Cool, see ya then!" He nearly giggled as he hung up the phone.

"So, what's going on?" Ember asked.

I just shrugged. "Sam's coming to visit us tomorrow." I explained.

"Cool." She said and put my paw on her chest again. "Less talk, more orgasm."

I laughed and commenced the orgasm spell for another 15 minutes before Cole finally bored of the people and came inside. When he saw what I was doing to Ember, he asked me to do the same thing to him, but I declined.

If this was a full body orgasm, the last thing I needed was to be covered in Husky spooge.

I shuddered at the thought.

Later that night, I got another phonecall, this one from Welnis.

"Dude, you have to turn on the news, it's pretty urgent!"

"What is it?" I asked.

"Just do it man."

So I did. Cole called Lethias back in, Ember, Cole, Lethias, and myself all sat to watch yet another news report on us.

This time it was a man talking about the global phenomenon that was the automatic transformation of us, and how many bystanders were taking video of furries around the globe doing daily activities.

"These furries, as they like to be called, have been sprouting up all over the place, and though there was originally some concern to their health and well-being, it's been proven over the last couple of days that they are completely normal, outside of their drastic changes in physical appearance."

Just then, an assistant came in and handed him a piece of paper.

The two of them had to stop for a moment to see what the paper said; they read for a moment with looks of shock on their faces.

"Ladies and gentleman, I regret to inform you that there's been a horrible tragedy." The male announcer said with a grim look on his face. "In California today, there was some sort of disaster that left hundreds dead. A-a-and the details are not yet known, but evidence points towards a terrorist attack."

The camera switched over to the female, who was on the verge of tears, as though she had family in California.

"Ladies and gentleman..." she sniffed a bit and wiped away a tear. "I-I'm sorry, I have to go." She said as she got up and left, pulling the mic off her lapel.

The camera switched back to the man, who was trying to adjust his collar. "Wait a minute, there's more info now. Apparently there was a camera on the scene of the attack that got a video. Can we show it?" He was looking to his assistants. "We can? Okay, ladies and gentleman, this following clip can be very disturbing, it's a recording of the terrible accident that happened earlier today. This is not for the faint of heart. Please roll the footage."

A moment of silence later, the screen changed from the desk to a picture of what looked like a building collapsing in on itself.

"Oh my GOD!" The voices in the background were saying. "Did you SEE THAT?!"

A cloud of dust swept across the street and into the person filming, blinding their view. A few moments later, a ball of light exploded from the center of the rubble and exploded into another building, causing it to collapse on itself.

"HOLY FUCK!" The voices screamed, then began to run away from the source of the light and down the street. Others were running to, but most were far away by now. The film was shaky, but you could tell they were trying to keep a good look on the hole where the light came from.

TTSSEWW! KABOOM! Another ball of light streaked across from the center of the rubble to the building beside the people filming.

"HOLY SHIT!" The people screamed as they went to hide behind another building. They took a small glimpse back to the rubble. Most of the dust had settled, and I saw quite possibly the single most painful thing in the world.

From the rubble climbed a single black anthro wolf, it's paws glowing with energy, and that's where the video ended.

"Fuck!" I whispered.
