"My name is Klaw," the big bear said before gesturing to the fox first then the white rabbit and saying "This is Chris and that is Lisa."
"Mike, pleased to meet you. This place is pretty secluded so how did you know I was here," I asked, suspicious but knowing that the resistance was my best hope for survival.
"Your phone has been bugged since you split from the military, we simply intercepted their bugs of your phone and made you that much harder for them to track, after all they didn't want to lose the controller for their greatest military asset, who was also a dangerous killer in his own right." Klaw said while walking in and looking around.
"My military history was all classified, every last detail, what do you know about that?" I said.
He looked me straight in the eyes and said "The asset herself told us about you, we never told her that you survived though, she was rather obsessed even after two years of thinking you were dead."
"This asset have a name?" I asked.
"There was an information expert five years ago, a month after your supposed death. He supplied the interception of the signal, three years ago though we gained the girl with a thousand recorded deaths to her name, who can see a way out of any situation using military force, Sherri. Get anything you need, we have to move out, the government puts trackers on all their sniffers, we found the sniffer you killed, he has been still too long and they'll send an elite team," He said before starting to walk out the door.
"Okay, I have a question, what the fuck are you?" Chris asked rather rudely.
Turning sharply Klaw said "Chris, shut up, we have bigger problems."
Ignoring them I asked "What kind of vehicle are you using?"
"We've acquired a couple high dollar private citizens in the years that so many have been changing. We drove a military quality armored car based on the Chevy full chassis, we can move almost anything you have," He said while stopping in the doorway.
"Good, because I've got a lot of weapons that I don't want to leave behind," I said opening a door that hadn't seen anything taken out of it in about two years, in it was a full arsenal of military grade weapons along with enough ammo to wage a small war.
"Exactly how many," Klaw said while looking at the previously unopened door.
"Does it matter, can we hurry this up before the elite squad comes," Chris said.
"I've got about two years worth of stock piled weapons of all makes and models, very effective weapons. I also managed to get my hands on a few rocket launchers and AA12's. I'm rather fond of them since I had to rebuild a couple considering they are military castoffs," I said proudly.
"It is quite impressive," Lisa said.
"Oh, she speaks!" Chris said.
"Bite me ass munch," she said, with an attitude.
Grinning and chuckling he snapped back with "I would rather eat you, much more satisfying, not to mention fun."
"Klaw let's get this stuff loaded," she said ignoring his crude quip.
Handing a small case to her while taking a four foot tall one himself Klaw said "Take it or move."
They worked quickly to get most of the weapons into the vehicle, after the last of them that they could fit was loaded Klaw got behind the wheel and started up the car.
Smiling at something Chris said "Hey Lisa, we could fit another couple cases in here if you sit in my lap!" Shoving him aside Lisa sat down and slammed the door at the same moment that Chris's head exploded all over the window and the car.
"Get in already Mike, we're going, they have a sniper this time, and ditch that phone," Klaw said.
"No need to tell me twice," I said while getting in as fast as I could slamming the door shut.
Flooring it the moment the door was closed Klaw saw one of the elite team and changed course enough to tear him in half with the momentum and weight of the vehicle. Hitting the dirt road and skidding on a long oil slick that had obviously been placed there he growled and pressed a button and I heard the engine roar into overdrive and through sheer RPMs it shredded the oil slick off the ground and pushed back down into the earth before catapaulting forward.
"He was annoying but didn't deserve to die." Klaw said eventually after several minutes.
"No one does, not like that," I agreed.
"I didn't like him but I wouldn't have wished that on him." Lisa said.
"We're almost at the place, you can ask any questions you have, tonight we'll head for the mountain." Klaw said while gesturing towards the sun rising out my window.
"Ok I have one question, who are you guys?" I asked.
"We're part of a rebellion against those that would like to see us destroyed, one of the biggest mountains in the world is our base of operations. We try and save every single fur that we can, and we heard the bit about the conversation, I'm sorry she didn't believe you." Lisa said.
"Okay, So where are we going now?" I asked.
"A Halfway house," she responded.
"It is a good place to stop for the day, staying off the road in the light is good," Klaw said while suddenly pulling off the main road and into a neighborhood.
"Well I appreciate you guys coming in when you did, you saved my ass back there," I said.
"Your ass has been on the line for years before this in conflicts around the world, I'm sure that somewhere we owe you our lives." Klaw said after a few twists and turns in the neighborhood.
"Maybe, so how long has it been since you guys had a good meal?" I asked.
"Around 18 hours, the mountain has some pretty good meals most of the time." Klaw said while pushing a button on a remote and pulling into the now open garage. After we were inside the door behind us closed and he pushed another button and suddenly we were moving down through the floor apparently. Solid cement walls on either side until they abruptly gave way to a wide open space and then suddenly stopped. Turning off the vehicle he got out and opened Lisa's door behind his.
"Nice place, we going to hide out here till the sun sets?" i asked.
"That is what I said before." Klaw said while closing the door behind Lisa after she got out.
"Alright then lets get something to eat, I'm staved, last thing I ate was a can of raw beans. i could go with a decent meal," I said.
"All we have are MRE's sorry," Lisa said.
"Are you kidding those things can be a fucking banquet toss me one," I said.
"You are so weird," she said smiling.
"Thank you, now what do you got there," I asked.
"Salisbury steak, and Fried chicken," she said.
"Salisbury steak, please and thank you. So did you have anyone before your transformation," I asked.
"No, I was alone for most of my life," she said.
"That sucks, with anyone now," I asked.
"No, most of the people piss me off, and that is usually a bad thing due to my telekinetic powers." she said.
"Do I irritate you," I asked.
"No you don't, look I know its been a rough couple days but I don't like being interrogated," she said.
"Right sorry, want me ask me something," i asked.
"Yeah, were you and that Deb girl close?" she asked.
Suddenly a static noise was heard and a voice said "Tainmoun to Agegar, anyone there?"
"Yes, this is officer Walk, what can I do for you private Vodka?" Klaw said to the voice.
"We simply wished to check that you were there, thank you officer Walk, have a good day. We will see you in ten?"
"Yes private Vodka, ten sounds about right, over and out." Klaw said while switching off the radio.
"Good code, those dumb asses will never crack it," I said.
"The only reason it works is because we don't use any actual names for the places, this is just the garage, we have over twenty other places we call the garage in relation to other places like this is the closest to the mountain, one is by the supermarket, the P.O. box where we get our guns dropped. Other things like that, since most of us don't go by birth names it's usually easy to find a decent code name, I spell Klaw as the inversion of walk, probably obvious that one, and I should guess that you realize who Vodka is since you know why she goes by her normal nickname," Klaw said while opening an MRE for himself and simply pouring it into his maw.
"I'm going to go ahead and assume Sherri, but I'm going out on a limb," i said.
Nodding Klaw said "Who else do you know that is insane enough to come up with that idea, sorry for talking about someone you don't know and stealing away your conversation Lisa."
"Its fine Klaw, So were you close to Deb?" she asked.
"I was, she thought I was blowing her off," I said
"I can feel it in you, she hurt you deeply didn't she," she said coming closer to me and kissing me on the lips, a minute later she broke it saying, "Oops, I'm sorry your emotions are just pouring out of you."
"You can feel my emotions?" I asked, somewhat surprised.
"Well I have become really good at reading people emotions, and I've got a very slight psychic empathic ability as well." She admitted.
"Well you're a very intelligent woman, I like that about you," i said.
"Her intelligence has nothing to do with it, being psychic of any true type is a curse caused by those who hate us," Klaw said.
"That's his way of trying to butter me up to get under my skirt, and its working." she said.
"At least you realize he wants to get between your legs," Klaw said while chuckling.
"Can I say that I'm offended now?" I asked.
Shaking his head Klaw said "No, every straight guy wants to get between a hot girl's legs, all definitions of hot varying."
"Maybe we should head into another room and get to know each other better." Lisa said.
"Probably should have done that in the first place, have a good 'talk'," he said while chuckling and emptying another MRE into his muzzle.
"Come with me, we'll be in the room I generally sleep in, just keep in mind that I wont sleep with anyone until I'm married. Klaw and I generally stay in here, more for warmth than anything, Chis was forced to sleep in the car, poor little guy it was his first outing like this. Oh well, let's get ready for bed, by the time we wake up it'll be time to head out," she said leading me into another room before just taking her pants off without a care for if I was there, she was either military or had been in a government facility.
"Nice ass," I said as she bent over.
We both heard a sudden deep laughter from the outside room that could be coincidence but was unlikely.
Shaking her head Lisa took off her top as well and grabbed a long white shirt and after it was on took her bra off under the shirt. Getting onto the bed she said "Ignore him, he enjoys making people uncomfortable since they don't expect it from him, but he doesn't actually insult anyone, he simply allows their actions to cause it."
After that she seemed to fall asleep almost instantly. It had been years since I had slept next to a woman, and that on top of all the craziness of day I simply couldn't sleep, I didn't even know what I was now let alone what was ahead of me now.
