Chuian in Soul Society: Day 1

Story by Fur the Reanimator on SoFurry

, ,

A crossover between the webcomic Inhuman and the anime BLEACH. Total fanfic. And I will need a bleach nut to help me if ever this is to be finished.

I woke up with a horrid headache, and the knowledge that I shouldn't be waking up at all. My most recent memory sang forth in an instant, and it was of me being crushed under the weight of a pourra. I remembered breathing my last breath, watching my vision fade to nothing as my body succumed to fate's cruel end. And yet, there I was, waking up like it was all but a bad dream.

I rubbed my eyes as I sat up, ears pulling back as I yawned. I stretch a little to assure myself that I was, indeed, alive, then I paused to sniff at the air. It was cleaner, somehow, than it should be. Never in my life had I smelled such clean air. It was then that I knew I had to be dead. The planet I was on had no natural life, nothing but machines and smog, never fresh air. Thinking I had gone to some nirvana or heaven, I looked around the room I am in, and was immidiatly confused.

I was in a small room that could only be described as a holding cell. I was sitting on a straw bed, and the only exit was through a door made of wood. Wood? Where was I? It honestly looked like a jail cell, but with a wooden door instead of and iron or steel one. I scratched the back of my head in confusion and tried to think.

Thinking I might be some reincarnation or something, I looked around for a mirror. Quickly seeing that there was none, I sighed and looked down at my clothing. Gone was my drab gray uniform, now replaced by a small, white robe. I had to admit, It felt nice to wear something comfortable for once, but I wanted to see myself. My fur was still gray, and I was obviously still a chuian, but I still could not be sure I was still me.

I growled in frustration and slamed a fist on the bed, and suddenly a loud clunk resounded as, from out of nowhere, a large knife fell out of thin air and hit the floor. I yelped in suprise and jumped into the corner farthest from the blade, convinced it was demonic in nature. Over the thudding of my heart I heard the dound of footsteps running towards me. Curling up into a ball, I eyed the door, waiting for help, when the blade vanished.

The door opened and in stepped three humans garbed in black robes, each holding in his hand a sword. I freaked and screamed. Then I passed out.

I awoke to the smell of flowers as I bolted upright, heart hammering. I was still in the same room, but now the three men were gone, replaced by a single female human dressed in white robes similar to my own. I stared at her in fear, but she ignored me and tended to a burning candle, the source of the flower scent. I forced myself to calm down and looked around for the blade that had mysteriously appeared. It was nowhere to be seen, but as I looked around, I noticed that the woman also had a sword like the men. Shaking like a leaf, I wished quite suddenly that I had a way to protect myself, and once again, the human sized knife appeared. This time, it landed on the bed where I sat, and I jumped off the bed and hit the floor with a solid whump. The woman spun around to face me, hand on the hilt of her blade, but soon her attention was on the very same knife that had caused my violent reaction. And for the first time since my 'death' I heard someone speak.

"Is that... yours?" asked the woman, obviousy distressed by the sudden turn of events. I swallowed thelumb in my throat and shoke my head. The woman spoke perfect Uni, so I easily understood her. She stood as stone still as me for a few moments before reaching into the bag at her side and removing a handfull of blue powder. This she threw at me, and I coughed in suprise and staggered. Then, by means only describable as unnatural, the knife was in my hand. I had only a moment to comprihend this as I soon fell to the floor, knocked out by the powder. And so ended my first day in a new world, one that would change me forever.
