Thirty-Seventh Chapter, Enjoy! X3 .......... (David's POV)

All is dark around us as we kept walking straight; the only source of light is up ahead of me and everyone else. I admit that for the first gym battle I'm quite nervous. I mean... this is my FIRST gym battle ever in the Pokemon world. I know that I've done many battles against trainers, but this is going to be different since this is an actual gym leader I'm going up against. Sure it's just the first gym, but you never know what could happen. This is not some digitalized game you can look on a screen on a small game console; this is the real deal here.

'Just calm down David, this is just the first gym battle... nothing that bad could happen.' I thought, trying to reassure myself that everything's going to be fine, but no matter how many times I try to reassure myself, my heart beat will go a mile a second. My palms even felt a little sweaty from the anticipation of this battle I'm about to have.

Soon I felt someone touch my shoulder, making me gasp and jump slightly as I look back and only to see my lover placing his paw on my shoulder.

"Relax babe, we're all gonna do fine." The blue Eon Pokemon said reassuringly while then leaning in and nuzzles his cheek against mine. This did made me blush, but it did kind of help me calm down. "Everyone didn't train for nothing, we're more than ready." He said as he leans back and gives a soft smile.

I soon smile back and then hug my blue Eon mate, "Thanks Latios." I said as he hugs me back, giving me an Ursaring hug before letting me go.

But even with Latios' reassuring me helped a little, I still felt nervous; I shouldn't be, but I can't help it.

We were all walking closer and closer towards the light at the end of this dark hallway. Everyone was silent during the time. I bet all of them were thinking about what's going to be expected in my battle with Roark, or something relevant to it.

I took a deep breath as we all approach the exit of this hallway, 'Alright... it's now or never...'

.......... (Normal POV)

Once coming out of the hallway, everyone was greeted by the light while they all saw the gym displayed to them. All the walls were made out of stone while there were two sitting stage areas from both left to right. Everyone looked at their surroundings for a moment until David saw the rock gym leader himself, Roark.

"Welcome! This is the Oreburgh Pokemon Gym, my fellow trainer with your unique set of Pokemon! As the Gym Leader, I need to see your potential as a trainer. And, I'll need to see the toughness of the Pokemon that battle with you!" Roark shouted across the gym, having his arms crossed while having a confident smile on his face. He was standing on a rather large block of stone as the area of the gym was displayed in front of him. And across from the rock gym leader is another large block of stone, the trainer guessing that he had to step on there.

"Good luck buddy." Marcus said to the other trainer while patting his back. "Oh who am I kidding you don't need luck, heh." He chuckled before walking towards the sitting stage area, soon followed by Chad. But before he could, he gave David a playful punch on his shoulder.

"Oof!" The trainer wheezed from the punch as he rubbed the spot on where he got punched, guessing that was a sign of good luck from the Charizard.

It wasn't until then that the blue Aura Pokemon came up to her trainer and nuzzle his neck, "Mmm... kick his ass David." She said before then giving David a quick peck to his lips, making him blush of course; hoping Roark, Marcus, or Chad wouldn't saw that (but a certain blue Eon Pokemon did, and of course he wasn't very happy x3). Soon Lucario followed Marcus and Chad, making sure to keep the distance between the flame Pokemon and the Aura Pokemon herself. Everyone else stayed behind as they wait patiently behind the nervous trainer.

David gulped a little before speaking, "H-Hope you're Pokemon ready Roark... because mine have been training, so we're more than prepared." He said with little nervousness in his voice before he then walks his way towards the large stone, along with his Pokemon team following close behind.

"Oh have they?" The rock gym leader replied while grinning. "This will be an interesting battle since I've never battled a team like yours before, but that doesn't mean anything in a battle. Depending how you fight can turn the tables around for either of us!" He said as he soon takes out his first Pokeball out of his belt.

David was taking deep breathes as he was climbing up the steps towards the top of the large stone. Not long before he and his Pokemon companions reaches the top, now seeing the whole battle area; it had a rock-lick terrain to it, not a surprise to the trainer. He knows that just skills can't cut it all the time whenever in battles, he has to keep in mind that he's gonna have to use the surroundings for his companions to use in their advantage.

'Hmm... I know those big boulders around the battlefield will come in some use...' David thought to himself as he scan the battle area his Pokemon companions are gonna step on.

"Oh, by the way... I didn't even get the chance to get your name." Roark admitted while throwing his Pokeball up and down, watching the trainer curiously.

"It's David... David Cheng." The trainer replied before looking back at his companions that's going to battle; Treecko gives two thumbs up, Latias smiling at the trainer cheerfully, and Latios grinning and floats in to his mate and gives him a soft affectionate lick. David smiles as this, feeling more confident with his Pokemon companions beside him as he then looks back toward Roark with a more determine expression.

"Heh, well David I hope you're ready to be defeated!" Roark said rather confidently and stops throwing his Pokeball and held it, ready to throw it at the battlefield.

It wasn't long before a referee stepped forward from the side of the battle field, "This is a one on one battle with a team of three Pokemon. Over at your left is the Oreburgh gym leader himself, Roark! And over to your right is our challenger, David Cheng!" The referee announced before he held his right arm up, all is silence as everyone watches in suspense.

"Latias... you ready?" The trainer whispered while he got the chance to.

"I'm more than ready." The red Eon Pokemon whispered back while stretching out a bit for a moment before looking ready and waits for the referee to start the battle.

The referee looks at both gym leader and trainer before chopping down his arm in the air and shouts, "BEGIN!"

.......... (David's POV)

"Alright come on out Onix!" Roark shouted before throwing his Pokeball out in the battle field.

"Wait, Onix?!" David exclaimed from the sudden change in order of Roark's team. 'I though gym leaders were supposed to have their weaker Pokemon come battle first.' The trainer thought while soon seeing a flash of white light before revealing a rather strong Onix, letting out an intimidating roar. The trainer having a feeling that this Onix isn't the weakest out of Roark's team.

"Yeah I thought I might change things up a bit, just for our battle." The gym leader said while giving out a grin.

'Can gym leaders do that?' The trainer thought, but when he gave it more thought... this isn't a game you play on a DS anymore. "Well... well that's still not gonna change anything!" He replied back when then pointing at the gym leader. "Me and my team will still defeat you!" And that's when the red Eon Pokemon floats out into the battle area, determination placed on her expression as she stares up towards the massive Onix.

"Hehe... well hello there little lady, shouldn't pretty ones like you be doing something else other than battling?" The Rock Snake Pokemon said while chuckling, staring back down towards Latias.

"Haha! Well my trainer choose me... but you gotta go easy on me. After all, I am a girl hehe." Latias said back while thinking to herself, 'Great I have to deal with this big bag of rocks here... and he seems sexist, perfect...' She thought sarcastically while she continue to act weak and innocent.

The trainer watching gave a small grin, knowing that Latias was just getting Onix off his game. He knows since he's seen something like this done before back when Latias was at the sidelines and was distracting the Roselia that was battling Treecko at the time, and it was quite smart getting Roselia off her game from the red Eon Pokemon's distractions. And this is what Latias is doing right now to Onix, so she knows what she's doing.

"Alright let's start this! Onix use Stealth Rock on that Latias!" Roark commanded, having such confidence in his voice as he points towards his opponents Pokemon.

"Hehe, alright little one here it comes." The Rock Snake Pokemon said before his body starts to glow silver, growing larger and larger by every second and then fire around the battlefield. The energy forms into pointed gray rocks that sit in the ground. Soon the rocks around Onix raises into the air, glowing white as they were pointed directly at the red Eon Pokemon.

"Latias quickly use Dragon claw!" David said while keeping a close eye on those floating rocks.

"You got it!" The red Eon Pokemon replied before she starts zooming towards the large Rock Snake Pokemon, with her claws slowly begin to glow a bluish hue.

It wasn't long before Onix made the rocks fly directly towards Latias, but the thing is that they seem to be going less fast then it should be, making the red Eon Pokemon dodge the white glowing rocks with ease and rather quickly as well while she closes the distance between them by each second passing by.

"Onix! What in Arceus are you doing?!" Roark shouted, knowing that Stealth Rock was supposed to go way faster then what the Rock Snake Pokemon was displaying the attack right now. The rock gym leader was about to send out another command before he realizes it's too late as the red Eon Pokemon quickly came at his Onix and slashed her claws across Onix's face, making the large him throw his head back and roars in pain.

"Good job Latias!" Treecko cheered from beside his trainer. Watching in excitement as his begins bouncing up and down, beginning to feel restless and can't wait for his turn to be on the battlefield.

"Keep it up sis!" Latios also cheered, watching from beside his trainer as well while looking closely at the battle before them.

"Hehe, how'd you like that?" The red Eon Pokemon taunted at the Onix, floating back as she readies herself for another order from David. Latias is not one to battle, or at least not want to battle. But once she does, it's as if it's like a game to her; her spirits up high as she tries to have fun along the way.

"Oh you're getting it now!" The Onix roared out in frustration, having noticeable claw marks across this face as he looks more intimidating than ever.

"C'mon Onix focus here! Now use Screech!" Roark ordered, making the Rock Snake Pokemon position himself as he hurriedly opens his huge mouth. Soon the inside of Onix's mouth glows white. He then releases a light blue cylinder beam from its mouth towards the red Eon Pokemon.

"Gah! My ears!" Latias screamed as she and everyone else's ears were penetrated by the loud screech, having them covering them if they don't want to lose their hearing. Onix kept on screeching as it made Latias blow back; the louder Onix roars the more it blows her back. It's was not long before it was too much for the red Eon Pokemon as it blew her back so forcibly that it made her hit her back against a boulder that was not far from her, and the impact sounded pretty nasty as well. Also that it impact made a huge cloud of dirt and dust surrounding the boulder, making almost everyone not see the situation before hand.

"Latias are you alright?!" David shouted as he kept watching the situation. The fact that he and his two companions couldn't see what's going on because of the clouds made him more worried, but not as worried as the red Eon Pokemon's brother.

"Sister!" Latios shouted with such worry, he wanted to go out there and check on his Eon sibling. But he knows he couldn't do that or else they might get disqualified or something relevant to that. That made him feel useless and frustrated. He's hasn't seen Latias getting attacked like that in a long time, actually... he's never seen an attack this strong hit Latias, this made him even more worried that his sister might be very hurt. However, part of his mind said that Latias is stronger than that and will get through this battle and he should have faith in his red Eon sister. 'I hope you're okay...' He thought as he and everyone else wait for the clouds to subside.

"Oh wow, that looks pretty bad. It doesn't look good for Latias, does it Chad?" Marcus asked from sitting at the sidelines with his Charizard as the Flame Pokemon shook his head, agreeing with his trainer.

Not far from where Marcus and Chad were sitting was the Aura Pokemon sitting comfortably from behind the two, looking at the battle with interest as she calculated the situation. 'Well that did look pretty bad as Marcus would say it, but... Latias is stronger than that I know for a fact. Something like this is child's play to her since she and her brother are quite legendary that I kept hearing from David...' She thought as she kept watching in anticipation that if her conclusion was right about the red Eon Pokemon.

From Roark and Onix's point of view, they saw that the boulder had a rather large creator from Latias hitting the enormous rock. The gym leading looking satisfied while the Rock Snake Pokemon looked a little shocked.

"Oh Arceus I'm so sorry, are you okay?" Onix said with concern as he slithers his way closer towards the red Eon Pokemon. Once closing the distance between them as he was engulf into the cloud surrounding the boulder, suddenly what's unexpected is that Onix was sent back flying as he landed with a loud thud, making everyone confused and a little shocked.

"What the... what just happened...?" Roark said, looking quite confused as everyone else while he glance towards the boulder were Latias was smashed into. The clouds slowly subsides and soon Latias was visible again, floating and everything. But she looks rather beat up with some bruises around her body here and there, also that she was glowing pink as well as her eyes.

"Was that...?" David trailed off as he and everyone now glanced at the red Eon Pokemon that is surrounded by the pink hue.

"Psychic." Latios finished as he had a small smile placed on his face, knowing that she's okay at least.

"Now that was unexpected, but I am impressed." The rock gym leader admitted while having a grin planted on his face. "But that won't change anything! Quickly Onix use Double-Edge!" He ordered as the Rock Snake Pokemon as he hastily got back up from the ground, soon having his whole body glow silver again, but this time the Onix begins charging with great power as if he's trying to do a tackle.

"Hurry Latias dodge it!" David yelled as Onix was getting closer and closer. Immediately, the red Eon Pokemon stops glowing as she saw Onix changing right towards her, using quick reflexes as she barely dodge the attack and has the Rock Snake Pokemon charge into the boulder Latias was slammed into, breaking the large rock into smithereens. Everyone, expect the rock gym leader, was cheering David and Latias on, getting a full confidence boost from everyone's support.

"No way, that should have hit Latias! But not yet, I'm not giving up! Onix use Slam!" Roark cried as Onix shook off the fragments of the boulder before glaring towards the red Eon Pokemon and then brought his tail up and swings down with full speed right at Latias.

"Dodge then Dragon Claw!" The trainer said before Latias would oblige. Quickly, the red Eon Pokemon dodges to the side, Onix's tail missing her at it slams onto the ground. Without hesitation Latias then charges towards the Rock Snake Pokemon, with her claws glowing a bluish hue again.

"Onix, before Latias gets the chance use Screech!" Roark shouted, having his Onix opens his mouth. But, Latias was too fast and got a direct slash across Onix's face once again. Thus, having him roar in agony.

"Now finish him off with Psychic!" David shouted, knowing Latias has a full opportunity to end this battle. Soon the red Eon Pokemon begins glowing a pinkish hue again around her body, as well as her eyes. Shortly having the Rock Snake Pokemon surrounded by the pink hue as well.

"Onix c'mon! Use Screech!" Roark shouted more desperately, not wanting to give up yet. The Onix tries opening his mouth, but it wouldn't budge as well as his whole body.

"W-What in Arceus?! I can't move!" Onix exclaimed, feeling shocked and a little scared that he couldn't do a thing. It wasn't before long that the large Rock Snake Pokemon begins to lift off the ground, struggling to escape this invisible force that's keeping him still like a statue.

Before Onix knew what's really going on, his was almost at the top of the battlefield, close to the roof area. So the Rock Snake Pokemon is pretty high off the ground.

The red Eon Pokemon was looking up towards Onix with her eyes still glowing pink, "Don't you ever go easy on your opponents just because they're a girl..." That's the last thing she said before she begins concentrating harder than before and immediately has Onix falling back down with great speed. The rock Snake Pokemon roaring out in fear as he's quickly gets closer to the ground.

"Nooo!!!" Roark yelled as he watches his Onix plummeting to his fate of defeat as he knows he couldn't do anything to turn the tables around.

"You know the old saying Roark? The bigger they are... they harder they fall..." David said towards the gym leader across from him before Onix had hit the ground really hard, the impact was so overwhelming that the whole room shook violently for a few seconds; it's like having an earthquake.

Once Onix had hit the ground it creates large amounts of dirt and dust flying around, creating huge clouds surrounding almost the whole battle area.

Everyone was on edge as they all wait for the clouds to subside. Latias at the time soon had the pink hue stop glowing around her body before she starts panting heavily from concentrating her psychic ability on someone as big as Onix.

"... Arceus, he was damn heavy." Latias said to herself while tired gets into her battle stance if the Rock Snake Pokemon would do anything else from after all that.

Seconds pass by as everyone still kept on waiting, when-

"GRRAHHHHHHHOOORRRR!!!" Roared the Onix and came stuck himself out of the clouds. Everyone flinched as it seems it was not over yet, but... soon after that, the Rock Snake Pokemon stops his roaring and then fell to the side with a loud crash, shaking the room again.

Soon the clouds slowly subsides, seeing the Rock Snake Pokemon not moving anymore as it was knocked out cold.

It didn't take long for the referee to state the situation, "Onix is unable to battle! The winners in the first round is David Cheng and his Latias!" He said as he stretches his arm out towards the winning side as then everyone begins clapping and cheering for the trainer and red Eon Pokemon.

'Oh my god... we won, we actually won...' The trainer thought before he then tackled by a sudden red and white blur.

"Yay we did it, we did it!" Latias cheered while giving David a tight hug.

"Ahh... c-can't breathe!" The trainer manage to say out while patting the red Eon's back, soon realizing that she was hugging him too tight and loosens her grip.

"Hehe, sorry." Latias apologized before helping her trainer up. It wasn't long that Latios and Treecko came up to congratulate her. Even at the sidelines Marcus and Chad were up on their feet, cheering them on. Heck, Lucario was clapping her paws as she was quite impressed of the capabilities the red Eon Pokemon can do to someone as big as Onix.

"Man... this can't be... Onix..." The rock gym leader said to himself before taking out the empty Pokeball and points towards the knocked out Onix. "Return..." He said before opening the Pokeball and the red beam quickly surrounded the Rock Snake Pokemon, soon getting engulf into the Pokeball. "You did great, now get some rest." He said while looking at his Pokeball with his Onix contained in it. "Hmm... that was very impressive David, but you think you can take down the next Pokemon like you did earlier?" Roark shouted towards the celebrating group, mostly towards the trainer.

"We'll see Roark!" The trainer shouted back before looking at his companions before him, thinking on who to use next as he scan between the blue Eon and Gecko Pokemon. "Hmm... Latios, you up for this next battle?" He asked while having his hand on Latios' back.

"Oh yeah, I'm more than up for this..." The blue Eon Pokemon said with determination while cracking his neck.

"Kick some butt brother." Latias said to her Eon sibling before giving him a light hug, as well as Treecko giving him a nod of good luck.

"Heh, well here comes my next Pokemon! Come on out!" Roark shouted before throwing out his other Pokeball out into the battlefield and soon releases his next Pokemon to battle against Latios.

..........

Alright that is part one on, "An Evolutionary Battle"

Yes I know it's been a while and I do apologize again for it. I've been feeling a little better, but... I'm still having some stuff on my mind that I have to deal with and put up with it pretty much every day lately. But hopefully... I will get better soon because part of my passion is writing and it kind of sucks for me and you guys that my emotions and some other stuff are getting in the way in my writing. But overall, I thank all of you who were supportive of me and it amazes me that you guys were so patient too and understandable.

See, this is part of the reason why I love furries so much is because everyone is so nice and supportive, and even with all the drama and all the shit we go through, us furries in the furry community sticks together, right?

Okay so today's question of the day is, what's gonna happen when it's Latios' turn? Will he succeed or end up getting defeated?

No one will know until the next chapter in Ch.38 of, "David's Start of a New Adeventure!"

I thank you all again for being patient and supportive of me and I hope I'll feel better soon. I love you all, I'll try and get the next chapter going for you guys.

Peace...

P.S. I've been writing a bit on something else recently. It's called, "The Blue Fox's Rant" aka T.B.F.R. If you want to know more about it, it's right in my profile. You'll find it in, 'Stories I'm working on' section. You can check more info if you're curious, I pretty much rant out on some crap, heh.
