"Confrontation"
As the sun disappeared behind the horizon Mia continued to bite at her abductors arm. Even though she was eight she knew what had her and she knew what would happen if she wasn't let go.
"Hey, you little bitch, settle down or I'll tear the flesh from your body bit by bit, right here, right now." he said as he stopped flying.
"Mommy will find you and tear you apart like she does to all the other of your kind." she replied before spitting on his face.
He growled before he took her by her skinny, little neck.
"I warned you girl, I'm looking forward to torturing you in the afterlife." he grinned as he squeezed hard.
As his arm reached for his flaming dagger he heard the sound of a gunshot. She felt his grip loosening as blood flowed down his face. She tried holding into his arm but as he faded her fingers started loosening until she was falling down to the earth below. The sound of wings ripping through the wind filled her ears as she felt a pair of arms wrap around her, her eyes looked down and saw that she was still in the air. She looked up and saw a man dressed in a black leather jacket, a black shirt, a black leather hat, blue jeans and boots. How was he flying? It wasn't until she looked behind him that she saw, attached to his back were a pair of wings, but not like any others she had seen from dead demons, these were made of fire.
"It's ok, you don't have to worry. The bad man is gone." he told her as he floated back down to the earth.
Was he a demon? He didn't look like one, but his wings. They faded away after he landed on the ground. She didn't attempt to get away as he took her back into what use to be a library. Once inside he set her down on the floor as she walked over to the old, dusty couch.
"Why did you help me?" she asked as she walked over to the couch.
"It's what I do."
"Are you a bad guy?"
He raised a brow at her, what kind of question was that.
"If you mean a demon then yes, if you mean a demon that's trying to kill the human race then no."
She looked around, it was still dark but there were some candles lit. Suddenly she saw something glowing in a pile of rocks. She reached over to touch it, but as she did so the rocks started shaking.
"Who dares to take the stone of the heaven!"
The voice had erupted from the pile of stones and boulders. She watched as they piled up until a giant head was formed along with a set of arms, a torso, and two strong legs.
"Relax Gartu, she was just curious as to what it was."
"Very well."
She could still see the white stone shimmering inside the monsters chest.
"What is that?"
He was preparing to tell her when he heard a gunshot, he ducked behind the couch and pulled out his own gun.
"Drop the gun you beast."
Mia looked around until she saw her mother walking through the doorway. He rose from behind the couch and raised his hands.
"Drop it!"
He did as she says and let the gun fall to the floor.
"I know what you are, I saw those wings today, you're a demon."
"I know this may be hard for you to believe but I'm on your side. I don't want humanity destroyed as much as you do."
"You don't want to destroy humanity yet your entire kind has destroyed the world! Because of you my husband is dead! Because of you my home is gone!"
"I've fought valiantly against the demons, I even saved you and your friend today and yet you still accuse me?!"
He walked over and grabbed the barrel of her pistol and pushed it against his forehead.
"Go ahead, do it."
She was about to pull the trigger when she felt Mia pulling on her pants leg.
"Please don't shoot him, he saved me."
She didn't know what to do. Her arm lowered as she turned her back to him.
"Just, don't let me see you again." she said as she took her daughters hand as they both walked back to the ATV outside.
Mia waved goodbye to him before they drove off.
