Chapter 3 "Friend or Enemy"

Everything was still fuzzy as she looked up from the ground. The orange light had changed form, now in the form of a human, but something was different. She could see wings folding against it's back before they faded. Now the only yells that filled the air were the beasts.

"You son of a bitch, you cut off my arm!" he grunted as he held his shoulder.

"It could have been worse, I could have cut off your head, or both arms Aclios."

She looked up and saw Alice trying to pull her up. Her vision was coming back as she saw the two men face off, the arm laying between them.

"What's wrong Satam, you've grown soft for the humans. Come now, lets go back home, you can explain everything to your mother and father." he said holding out his other hand.

"Fuck them, they caused all of this. I'm not going to be a part of what they are doing. They almost killed the entire human race because of their own selfishness." he replied in a very serious tone.

Aclios smiled as he pulled back his arm,

"Very well, then I'll force you to come back!"

The ground below Satam seared with flames as they wrapped around his body, binding him.

"What's wrong brother, you use to be strong, but now your weak and you're alone."

He grunted as he tried struggling from the bonds as he watched Aclios walk closer to the women.

"Now where were we, oh right I was picking out which one of you to torture first." he grinned, reaching out for Nikki.

"You won't take them...."

He couldn't use any of his powers, if he did it would just destroy him. He struggled more as the binds started ripping.

"You won't take another human as long as you live Aclios!

With one hard jerk he was free, the fire fell to the ground and faded.

"That's impossible, how can you escape a level ten binding spell?" he said in fear as he started back up.

There was no time for answering.

"Go!' he yelled to Alice and Nikki.

They took the hint and ran to their ATV, flipped it over and started driving back.

"My prey!"

That gave him enough time to attack. He threw his arm back then forward as hard as he could, throwing the blade straight at his own brother. He heard a grunt as the blade entered his chest.

"Satam, why?" he asked as he fell to his knees.

"May your spirit be reborn again brother, in a better place."

With one tug he pulled the blade from his heart. Nikki looked back as she saw the man looking towards the small spec that was them.

After they arrived back at their base they handed their supplies back over to their commander who gave it to the people that handled the supplies. It was a long and dangerous day, she just wanted to get home and take a nice shower. The sun was starting to go down as she opened the door to her house. She found her little girl sitting on the floor playing with the bucket of Lego's she had found quite some time ago.

"Mommy!" she exclaimed with happiness as she ran up to her before she jumped into her arms.

"Hey, sorry I'm late, I was a bit late getting back."

"Can we play tomorrow?"

"Sure sweetie, but for now I need a shower." she said giving her daughter a loving kiss on the forehead.

She opened the door to the small shower before she stripped. The water felt good on her body, it had been running low for sometime, mainly because the piping system that led to all the houses had been jammed, but after days of not washing up and burning up in the sun it felt good to her to just relax as the water rained down on her. Something still bothered her though, she knew the man that saved her in the desert was a demon, Satam, that's the name she heard. Why didn't he take her? Demons were known for not having any sympathy and for killing and torturing others they came across, so why didn't he? After about twenty minutes of sitting in the shower she finally felt refreshed. As she walked over to her closet she heard the alarm go off. That wasn't good, that only happened when demons were spotted in the area. She slipped back into her uniform before she grabbed her pistol and dagger.

"Mia, stay here, don't leave the house for any reason."

She expected her to answer, but when she turned around she saw something that terrified her. One of the beasts had her daughter in his arms.

"Let her go!" she demanded as she raised her pistol.

"Heh, don't worry, I'll take good care of her." he said with a grin.

She fired three shots, but they didn't have any effect. Before she could pull out her dagger the beast burst through the roof with her little girl.

"Mommy!" she heard her scream as they disappeared into the night.
