The street was quiet on my way home. The sun had already set and the moon was illuminating the land around me. I had only been walking for an hour, but it felt like an eternity. I was breathing inconsistently, often forgetting that I needed to. My steps were slow and I could only look down at my feet, timing each step with the constantly changing beat of my heart. I had only looked up a few times, to make sure I was going the right way to my house and not getting lost. "How could this have happened?" I asked myself aloud.

"She's always such a careful driver. And why was she coming down here anyway? Why was she coming to see me? Was she coming to see me?"

Those questions kept buzzing around in my head and nothing would stop it.

As my thoughts kept wandering from question to question, I began to cross the street. I hadn't noticed that the light hadn't yet changed, so cars were still able to pass where I was crossing. The moment I saw headlights coming towards me, my body stopped moving involuntarily. I wanted to move, my instincts were telling me to move, but I couldn't, I didn't want to. Something in me made me stay in place.

As the car came closer, the driver noticed me and began honking at me, warning me to move, but I still did nothing. The car began to slow down, but not in reality, no, it began to slow down in my mind. As if I was witnessing the coming of my death in slow motion, yet I still didn't move.

Finally, when the car was only a few yards away, I closed my eyes, waiting to be hit.

"MOVE!" roared a voice coming at me at a really fast pace.

Just then, I felt something hit me, but it wasn't the car, it was a fur. I felt fur impact my body, I also felt a sharp piece of metal and I saw a faint blue light through my eyelids.

I felt hard on the ground, the other fur falling softly on top of me as I heard the car honk past us at a fast speed.

After a few seconds of silence, I hadn't yet opened my eyes, but I knew the tears were flowing again.

"What's your problem?!" I heard the fur say, not in anger, but in delirious concern.

'Why didn't you move?! You could've been killed! You were ALMOST killed!" they said.

I recognized it as a male voice, but me being a music geek, I classified them as being a bass.

I slowly opened my eyes as I felt their body get off of mine, but I knew they were still hovering over me, as if they were holding themselves up by their hands and legs.

When my eyes adjusted to the night and the faint luminescent light radiating from this fur, I realized that he was a Lucario. But a strange one, his eyes were both different colors, his left red and his right was purple! And the spike on his chest was glowing a faint blue, while the ones on his hands glowed a deep black, darker than night.

"Well?!" I he said frantically.

"I... I don't know..." I said quietly.

"What do you mean "I don't know"?! Nobody does that and thinks 'I don't know why I almost killed myself!' Why didn't you move?!"

"Can you please get off of me?" I asked quietly.

'No! Not until I get an answer!"

"I don't know why!" I said, raising my voice, "my body just wouldn't move! It couldn't move!"

He remained silent, looking at me with his strange, yet oddly attractive eyes.

He slowly got up from on top of me and held out his hand. I took it and he helped me up.

"Thanks..." I said looking down, "thanks for... saving me."

"No problem. Where you headed?" he asked.

"H-home" I mumbled.

"Well, I'm going to accompany you until you get there. I don't want this to happen to you again."

"No, i-it's alright" I said as I began to walk, "you don't have to do that. Besides, I bet your family is waiting for you at your home."

"I don't have a family," he said sadly.

I stopped walking when he said that. "Don't you have anywhere to go?"

"No," he said, taking a step forward.

With the step he took, I heard a jingling sound. I turned around and noticed he had a chain around his left wrist and left leg. At least three links still attached to each. He tried to hide the one on his wrist when he noticed I was looking at it. But he couldn't hide the one on his ankle without tripping over himself.

"What happened to you?" I asked feeling concerned.

"N-nothing! Let's get you home!" he said, grabbing my arm and dragging me across the street.

The light had already changed.

I didn't press him to answer my question; I wasn't in the mood to talk either.

After walking in silence for a few minutes, I decided to at least introduce myself.

"I-I'm Ry?... Ry? Kagayaki."

I almost bumped into him as he stopped walking.

"I'm Kyouya," he said quietly, "Kyouya Kiriozaki."

He didn't move after he told me his name, he just stood there, just as I did before he saved me. When he noticed I was staring at him, he looked up at me and smiled, "Nice to meet you Ry?!"

He grabbed my arm and we kept walking.

I don't know why, but for some reason, his arm in mine felt right...

I'd always felt attraction towards guys, but I'd never told anyone that I was gay. I mean, being this odd hybrid was bad enough, but being gay would only make it worse...

I must have been blushing while thinking all this because he started giggling when he looked up at me. I wasn't sure how he saw it since it was dark out, I guess he just has really good vision.

"H-how old are you?" I asked hesitantly.

"I'm 18, turning 19 in a month. And you?"

"He's 18?! Almost 19?!" I thought to myself, "That's so weird... I know I'm really tall, but still, he's so short for his age, he seems 5"2'!"

"I'm 18," I said.

"Wow! Really?! I thought you were older! You're so tall!!"

"Thanks," I said silently.

"What's wrong? Why are you so sad?"

"Nothing," I lied, "I'm fine. I'm just a bit tired out."

"Okay," he nodded, but I knew he didn't believe me.

A few blocks from my house, I stopped and looked at him.

"Since you don't have anywhere to go, would you like to stay with me?"

"Really? Do you mean it?"

I saw a glimmer in his eye that made my stomach tingle.

"Yeah," I nodded, "but be careful. My dad isn't the most loving or accepting person, especially towards me."

I looked down sadly, remembering how he treated me when he was home, if ever.

"Okay... Is he home?"

"No, it doesn't look like it, the lights are off. Let's go, before he gets here."

I took his arm and we walked quickly to my house. It was an average two-story house with a basement. It was a white house with a brown roof. When I stepped onto the front porch, I took out my keys from my pocket and unlocked the door.

I stepped in the house, turned on the lights, and saw my dad sitting on the sofa. The dragon had a beer in hand, giving me the death glare as he usually did when he was drunk.

I quickly turned and told Kyouya to wait outside.

"Don't come in, no matter what happens!"

I closed the door behind me and then approached my dad.

"Hey dad," I said hesitantly, "are you okay?"

He just stared at me with his piercing gaze and I felt a chill run down my spine.

I bent over to try to take the beer from him, but it was stuck, firm in his grip.

"DON'T!" he said with a menacing voice, "touch me! You mutant child!"

I froze at his words, he never liked me, and he's always resented me, ever since birth. He always beats me when he's drunk, ever since I was little, but my mom would always stop him. She's the only one who didn't care what I was, she still loved me but now she's gone...

"Y-you've been drinking too much again..." I said hesitantly, trying to avoid looking at him, "mom says you shouldn't drink so much, it's bad for your health."

I tried to take the beer away again, but his grip on it grew tighter.

"I said DON'T FREAKIN' TOUCH IT!" he yelled.

I suddenly felt his fist in my stomach and the air immediately rushed out of me. I doubled over and gasped for breath and he just got up, chuckling.

"Heh! Stupid kid!" he spat at me.

He kicked me in the back and walked towards the door. "I'm going out!" he barked.

I heard the door open and close as he stepped out.

"Kyouya!" I thought to myself, "He's still outside! I hope my dad didn't see him!"

"Kyouya!" I tried saying, but to no avail.

I still couldn't breathe and it hurt to move. Just then, I heard the door open and close again, and I thought he was back to do some more damage since there was no one to stop him.

As I saw the shadow approach, I closed my eyes and waited for whatever pain I would receive, bracing myself for more pain than he normally dealt me...
