I experienced a dragon dream a while ago and it's not too personal. It was a very short adventure so I was able to put it together in a rudamentary story form.

As an anthro dragon, I was lounging in a pond that you usually see in gated communities without a care in the world. The water was half way up my scaly yellow chest and my dull red arms were folded behind my head which was resting on the green, grassy bank. The orange sun was slowly approaching the horizon and there were a few dark clouds above with the light making the rolling clouds glow, but at least there wasn't going to be any rain. Suddenly, a silver, female dragon child came to the pond as well. At the time, I never knew that the world had other dragons in it. I said hello to her and she said hello back. I never did get her name, but we talked a little. She commented on the blue trapezoidal scale pattern on my head and I told her that it represented my straight forwardness. I asked her about her family and I was saddened to discover that she was a pure dragon and that her mother and father had been killed for some unknown reason. I felt sympathy for her. I was alone myself, but I felt confident enough to be able to take care of her like a daughter.

I finally looked back up at the cloudy sky, but I spotted a Predator UAV patrolling, watching us. "Uh oh," I said, knowing full well what that meant.

A black, armored van came roaring down the street next to the pond towards us. The driver pulled on the hand break and slid the vehicle sideways to come to a stylish halt. Government agents from the National Capture Agency piled out of the van and started to take away the little dragon girl! I dreaded that she would become their experiment and would eventually be sold off to an exotic zoo where she would never be able to escape. I was not about to let that happen! I roared at them and tried to tear them away from her. I fought through five NCA personnel just to get in between her and the enemy, but they regrouped and swarmed me to capture both of us.

They took us to a prison in the middle of the night, out in the middle of the desert and surrounded by tall, chain linked fences and barbed wire. As they were taking us out of the armored van, I broke my hand cuffs, battered the guards next to me with my tail, and jumped up on top of the one story shack that would have lead us underground. Because it was dark and my scales are dull, they were not able to see me jump up there so fast. I crawled prone a ways towards the opposite side of the building where it was even darker and there were no guards on the ground. I slipped over the edge to the ground and jumped the chain linked fence and over the barbed wire to hide outside of the compound around a small, rocky hill.

I watched the compound as search lights turned on to sweep the area and the guards ran madly around trying to find me. They left the silver dragon next to two guards still standing outside.

I decided that even though it was so soon, now was the perfect time to rescue her. I stealthily jumped into the air again and glided into the compound 20 feet above the ground. From behind, I descended upon the two guards holding her and elbowed both of them to break them away from the dragon. I scooped her up and made a mad dash to the van that brought us here. I decided that I was going to take a joyride in their vehicle and maybe trash it up a little. The van was slow to get moving as I drove it out of the compound through a guard gate and finally on a country road.

It was not long before I made it back to the city, but I was being followed. "Stop! NCA!" yelled an agent over a bullhorn. I certainly wasn't going to stop for them. Even though I had just met the little silver dragon that was sitting in my lap, I knew that I had to protect her.

The chase did not last too long after they caught up with me. As I was making a turn, they pulled a pit maneuver on me and ended up slamming my vehicle into the side of the road which happened to be the same first pond that I was relaxing at. The little dragon and I were thrown from the van and out onto the moist grass next to the water. Agents with rifles pulled up to us in their van, demanding for the child.

"Why do you want her?!" I yelled.

"She is alone and in danger," they replied.

Doubts about what I thought the NCA wanted to do to her started to well up in my mind. "Why? Why is she in danger?!"

"She isn't old enough to take care of herself. Her parents died and she does not have a guardian. We were tasked with taking care of her until she matures."

The shock of their simple intentions was stupefying, but there was one thing that was getting at me. When the NCA first arrived to make the capture, they went for her instead of dealing with the bigger threat: me. "Why did you capture me?" I asked.

"You attacked us when we came for her."

A big smile came across my face. The agents who were all aiming their guns at me eased up a little, wondering why I was so happy. "A-hah! I'm sorry, but I was attacking because you were going to take her! I was caring for her!"

"So you wish to become her guardian?" It was obvious that they were willing to let my actions slide. It was all a misunderstanding. They couldn't have known that I had assumed the role of a guardian in that very same day.

"Yes," I replied. "I will take care of her."

The agent who had been talking to me took off his face mask and smiled at me. "Alright. Good luck then," and he told the driver return to base and off they went.

I like the ending that my dream had. Shows that there can be peace between humans and dragons instead of the usual stereotypical "dragons and humans are enemies" bravado.

Of course, none of it was real, but the moral of the story stands: "The world won't change for the better unless we trust people. Trust is vital in a peaceful world... but that'll never happen."
