#8 of A Shockingly Pleasant Change

Adjusting

The car ride home was long and boring, as usual. Mom put some crappy music on the radio and I told her it sucked, so she turned it up. I bitched that the music hurt my sensitive ears, so Dad shut the music off altogether.

We got home around eight at night, the sun was just disappearing behind the horizon, nobody saw me when I went inside.

As usual, I just went inside and headed straight for my room. I didn't really want to deal with my parents or the outside world right now. I had a hell of a day, I was tired, and I needed to chill for a while and relax.

Think about it, I woke up at midnight, literally RAN to Woodstock, hung out with my friends for an hour, jumped across London to show off my talents and get a bit of air-time on TV. After that, I jumped back over buildings to my friend's place to chill a while longer, deal with my parents, go to the doctor, play Jesus, then come home.

It was an exhausting day.

Truthfully though, it was mostly mental strain, because my body actually felt lively. Like I could run a marathon. That opened a whole lot of questions in my head as I lie down in my bed.

What could I really do? I mean, think of the Olympics. I could likely beat every record that existed. I can high jump over 30 feet in the air, I can run almost as fast as a car can drive, and I am so strong I could likely throw a javelin out of any stadium that existed.

I could enter myself in every competition, and I could set records. I bet that would make the world aware of my greatness.

Problem was that I didn't want to wait too long to get my name out there.

Oh well, it was a fun idea in my head.

What about other world records? Would I be banned from trying out for them? I mean, would my change in body void me from all human records? I could likely lift ten times more than any human could imagine, theoretically, anyway. I still don't know the limits of my strength, just that I was really strong.

I heard a lot of creaking upstairs again. We had a really creaky floor. I heard my parents talking about me, and the steady click of a keyboard in my brother's room. My aunt was still up north at the family picnic.

I wonder what she'd say when she came home and saw me? I wondered what the rest of my family would feel. I mean, yeah, Mom and Dad weren't too bad, Sam loved it, but there was a whole family out there that I still had to 'come out' to.

After some steady clicking in my brother's room, I heard him rush across the room and he stormed down the stairs at me.

"Gordon, can you come upstairs for a bit?" Sam asked.

"What for?"

"I want to show you to a friend, she doesn't believe me." he explained.

I shrugged and followed him up to his room. I figured that if I was going to go public with myself, there should be no shame in showing off what I have.

The two of us went to his room and he sat down. "Wave to the camera." Sam instructed me. I saw my fuzzy face appear on his webcam outgoing video screen, so I waved.

"OMFG!" The girl on the other end wrote. "KAWAII!"

Ugh, a mix of internet jabber and japanophile.

"Tell her to not be so excited." I told my brother. He wrote down what I said for me.

Apparently the girl didn't think I was real, so I tried to show her my fangs, and my claws. Told her no suit could do that. She still didn't believe me, so I gave up. Some people just couldn't be convinced, so I wasn't gonna force it.

I eventually just left my brother's room when mom came out of the living room. "So what are you gonna do about the wedding next weekend?" She asked.

Hmmm, I hadn't thought of that either. "I don't know, dress up all nice and pretty, then go anyway?"

"Looking like that?"

"What? You wanna shave off all my fur?" I shook my head in disbelief. I wasn't changing back any time soon, so why not make the best of this? "What about college? I'm gonna do what Strype said, I'm gonna go about my life and act like nothing happened. I'm still myself inside, it's just my body that's changed."

She just shrugged her, 'fine, do it your way' shrug, and said, "Well, I guess that's your decision."

"Yeah, of course it's my decision. Who's else would it be?" I growled a little, but I don't think she heard me, because she didn't respond like she normally does by yelling and causing a fight over nothing. I just threw my paws up and went back to my basement bedroom, where I took off my cloak and laid on my bed.

I didn't want to be bothered tonight. Unfortunately, I couldn't close my door, as my room was also the laundry room. I had no privacy here, I just had to try and hide in my bed, which was partially hidden by my dresser and television.

I took in a few deep breaths, remembering the lyrics to a lazyboy song. "Take five deep breaths a day." It really does help, I think you should try it sometime.

Interestingly enough, it took me a full two days to become truly curious about my body. I mean, most furs that I knew said that if they woke up a living breathing anthro, the first thing they'd do would be to masturbate or find a fellow furry to yiff.

I personally thought that was all rubbish, but I'm still a male, and as such, I'm still curious about myself, as anyone else could imagine.

I was lying down naked, well, as naked as a tiger covered in fur could be.

I looked down to my sheathe, and I smiled a little. The small little hole was pointing straight up at me. I reached down to the sides of the sheathe and pulled it back as far as I could, showing a stiff, slippery, pink shaft. It was a lot like the shape of a human penis, but no foreskin, and there were small bumps around the rim of the head that I assumed were the barbs.

I don't really want to go into too much detail, but let's just say I had one hell of a time before finally dozing off into dreamland.

The next morning, I felt like everything in the past two days was a dream. It was like I would have woken up and everything was back to normal. I've had dreams that consisted entirely of what a day felt like, and I woke up feeling like it was a day later than it was, so who's to say this wasn't all a dream?

But I was still Runa, that black and orange tiger man that I'd come to love.

I let out a deep purr as I smiled and hugged my pillow for a few minutes before getting up and heading for the bathroom.

I found trying to stand up to pee to be far too difficult without pulling the penis out of the sheathe, since it was pointed upwards at all time. I had to sit down instead. It seemed to fit well with some work. It's a wonder I was able to sit down to pee that first time right before I discovered myself.

I shrugged it off and went to the fridge to get out the ribs that I'd left there a few days before the change. Not the ribs from the fest, no, I finished them.

I was fuckin hungry. Felt like it'd been days since I ate. It was when I went to put the meat in the microwave that I noticed it was just after 5 AM, and it felt like I'd gotten a full night of sleep.

Damn this new body, being rejuvenated all the time. Aren't cats are supposed to sleep all day? When I created the Jysar, they were supposed to be no different, so why would this be special?

Oh well, it was unimportant. I had things to do.

The ribs weren't in the fridge, Dad must have thrown them out, so I decided to go back downstairs.

I stood in my room, silent and alone for a moment before I decided to try out my telekinesis a little bit. The firs thing I tried was grabbing ten DVD's and holding them all up in the air at once. That was easy enough, so I tried to make them all spin in slightly different ways while suspended. That proved to require a little more concentration, but it was still quite easy.

I looked around my room to see what other things I could lift when I decided I was going to try something particularly heavy.

I focused on my bed, my dresser, my DVD shelf, the washer, and the dryer all at the same time, and I mentally imagined them all hovering about a foot above the ground. Much to my delight, every single one of them lifted off the ground by what looked to be exactly one foot.

Now, one thing I noticed was that they weren't rocking and swaying in the air like movies and TV make you think. No, they were just hovering in the air, still as if they were on the ground. They didn't rock and wave unless I wanted them to.

I looked to all the objects one at a time and smiled, everything was in the air and would stay that was as long as I held my concentration on them.

I tried to put just the dresser down, but everything went with it, so I had to stop them and refine my concentration to make only the dresser go back to the ground. It took a few tries, because other things tried to go down with it as well, but I eventually got it. I just had to imagine the others staying up as I made the dresser go down.

I had to be careful to not make a whole lot of noise as I let the objects down, but my face was glowing. It seemed my abilities were as strong as I'd hoped they would be, and I couldn't be happier.

I decided to try something a bit more challenging, something that required more concentration, but wasn't too heavy. The plan was to make my DVD's all come out one at a time from my shelf and form a house of cards.

Well, a house of DVD's.

That would require a lot of concentration, as I'd have to keep an eye on each and every DVD to make sure that I didn't lose control of any of them.

I took in a deep breath and concentrated on the DVD's as I thought about how they'd move, and of course, they all came out just as I imagined, one at a time in quick succession. After I'd pulled enough out telekinetically, I tried to set them up, but the timing and the space was all off and nothing seemed to fit right, so I got frustrated and the house fell into itself.

I put all the DVD's back on the shelf and went back upstairs to get my brother. He was pissed off that I woke him up so early, but when he saw my face he remembered what I was, and he woke up instantly.

The plan was to go out and get Nick, Tyler, and Ryan and go down the trails. We'd get Cole too, but he was in London chilling with the other furs.

Sam and I literally walked down main street at 6 AM, there were very few cars driving up and down the street, and each one had to slow down to get a good look at me. I waved to each and every one.

Sam got a hell of a laugh out of that.

As we passed Cooper and Cole's house en route to Nick's place, I saw that Cooper and Connor (Cole's brothers) were getting in a car to go to work.

"Hey guys." I called to them.

The two of them stopped packing their stuff, and Cooper came to see me. "Hey Gordo, do you know where Cole is?" he asked.

"Yeah, he's in London with some friends." I said, but then Cooper got a good glimpse of me form, and he cringed and backed up.

"Yeagh!" He exclaimed. "What the fuck happened to you?"

I just shrugged. "I guess my furriness got the better of me. I don't know."

He just shook his head. "Freak." He muttered, then went back to the car to get in.

"That doesn't bother you?" Sam asked. "I'd rip his head off."

"Yeah, I know you would Sam, that's what makes me a better person than you."

Sam held his arms out in protest. "But...you could like throw them hundreds of feet in the air and there wouldn't be anything they could do!"

"Come on Sam, let's go." I said as I pulled him down the sidewalk. Nick's house was only two houses away from Cole's.

Right as we went down their driveway, I heard Cooper call from the side of the car, "Fags!" as he drove away.

I clenched my fists and growled as my fur stood on end, my ears laid back as I tried to do everything in my power to not shoot a fireball at them and envelop them in death and pain.

"Come on, you gotta do something!" Sam urged.

"No, we're better than that." I calmed myself and turned to the house.

We knocked on Nick's door and waited for an answer, but received none. It was 6 AM, after all. Who was up at 6 AM? I knocked considerably harder, but was careful to not knock the door off it's hinges.

This time I heard some slamming in the house as Nick's mom Jeanette stomped through the house to the door. She swung it open in a rage and yelled at us. "What the fuck are you doing up at this ungodly hour?"

I just blinked a few times waiting for her to clue in to my change, but she didn't phase.

"Well, what are you two doing here?"

Sam and I looked at each other and laughed a bit before I answered. "We want to wake Nick up and show him something."

She groaned and turned around. "Fine, I'll get him, he's probably naked, and I don't think you wanna see that."

She left, yelled at Nick upstairs for a few minutes before convincing him to get up. The worst part was, we were at their door still and I could still hear every word.

Fuckin sensitive cat ears.

Ten minutes of arguing later, Nick came down with his mom and shook his head in shock as he got a good view of me. "What the fuck?"

"Yeah, we were gonna go out to the damn to practice some shit." I told him. "Wanna come?"

"Fuck yeah, just gimme a second." He said as he rushed away into the laundry room, then came back with a small bag of what looked like weed.

"The fuck's this?" I asked.

"Hey, no swearing in this house mister!" Jeannette bellowed as she sat down on her couch.

But Nick paid her no mind. "It's catnip, want some?"

Sam started laughing very hard and I glared at Nick for a full minute before taking the bag and stuffing it in my pocket. "Shut up, Jackass."

Who knew, it may work. Who knows with this body. Not like I'd actually use it though, I'm totally against my own personal use of drugs. That's all catnip would be for me. A drug.

"Come on." I said dryly as I walked off their porch and into their yard. Sam and Nick were now laughing together, and caught up with me a few moments later.

The three of us all walked to Tyler's house, which was literally around the corner from Nick's house.

"You guys should do your thing and go in yourself. Bring Ryan and Tyler out, and the five of us will all go down the trails to Turtle Pond together, and I'll show of my mad leet skills!"

Sam just laughed at me and walked in the front door. It's an odd relationship we have where we can just walk into each other's homes.

About five minutes later, Sam walked out the front door with two very groggy brothers. Tyler's eyes lit up in excitement, and Ryan just kinda smiled. "Cool." he mumbled.

"Cool?! This is awesome!" Tyler corrected his brother. Tyler definitely was the bigger fan of mine.

"Yeah, it's definitely cool, but we're gonna go to the dam and have some fun." I told them.

"Awesome!"

Once again, in the few minutes that we walked from Tyler and Ryan's house to the dam, I got the basic slew of questions from Tyler. What happened, how long, etc.

I can't say it bugged me though, I mean, it was awesome to know that so many people took so much interest in my change.

The trails were long and boring until we got to our tree. Our tree is an old oak that fell over into the water, and makes a cool little bench. It's truly beautiful, and it's really comfy to sit in, making it the ultimate wilderness hangout location.

Once we got there, I decided to try some of my magic.

"Okay guys, what spell should I try first?" I asked. "I've got fire, ice, water, and telekinesis."

"FIRE!" All of them said. Everyone always says fire.

I happily obliged and raised my paw to the sky, shooting a fireball into the air that went out over the water and eventually fell, sizzling into nothingness as it hit the water.

I got a collective 'oooooh' from my audience.

"That was cool!" Nick said, "Do it again!"

So I did, this time making three fireballs all going in different directions then hover in the air for a few minutes before spinning around in circles. Then they merged into one big disc of fire that stayed suspended in the air.

"You know, that shouldn't be physically possible." Sam said, breaking my concentration and causing me to lose control of the fire, which dissipated immediately.

"I know, the laws of fire is that it needs three things: heat, oxygen, and a fuel source like wood or oil. There's no fuel source, so that shouldn't physically be possible. All I know is that it works." I explained. "So what next?" I asked.

Sam smiled. "Show me how your 'water' magic works." He challenged.

This one was kind of more difficult. The problem was that with water, all I did was control it's flow. I could make it move, or I could apparently telekinetically control it somehow. All I knew was that I could make it pull away from it's source and I could manipulate it.

So I did that. I put my paw down to the water, and I felt the flow change as all the water was drawn to a point out in the middle of the river over the water. It all seemed to funnel up into the sky and form a ball of water in the air. It wasn't a big ball, perhaps ten feet in diameter, but that's still a big enough ball to throw at people.

"There, that one's not that special, but it can be done." I said.

Ryan nodded. "So what can you do with that?" He asked.

"I don't really know, but I assume it can be used as a weapon." I said. "Lemme try something." I concentrated on the water, and I formed a small spout in the side of the ball that shot the contents into the air like a hose.

"Hydro pump." I proudly exclaimed. Sam and Tyler both laughed at the pokemon reference.

"How about ice now?" Nick suggested.

I hummed and hawed over that one. All I knew was that I could freeze water. Theoretically, I could freeze the entire river and walk on it, but I didn't want to do that. "I'm not so sure if that's a good idea. There's a lot of fish here, and if I freeze the water, it'll kill them. I don't really want to kill fish needlessly." I explained sympathetically.

"Oh, come on, it's just a few fish." Nick encouraged. "The would could live with a few less fish."

I just shook my head. How like Nick to encourage the wanton destruction of helpless fishies.

Instead I tried something different. I did the water spell again, making a ball of water form in the air above the water, then I brought it close to me and I froze it solid. Problem was, as soon as I froze it, it became immensely heavy, and I wasn't using telekinesis on it, so it fell to the water with a great splash that soaked us all.

I tried to shake my fur out as the rest of them bitched, but we all remained wet, so I tried to use a low level heat based magic to warm them up and evaporate the water form their clothes. I was happy to see it actually worked and we were all very dry.

"Awesome." I grinned.

After that, I had to melt the giant ball of ice that lay in the water, but that was no problem. It took me only a moment, and it was like nothing happened. I didn't even have to touch it, just the thought of it would make it melt if I so willed it to.

I loved my abilities.

It was then that I thought about the other magic I had, the only other element to try out, and that was electricity. That was very damn unstable though, so there's always that chance that it could backfire and hit someone.

"Sam, come here." I demanded as I pointed to the seat beside me.

"What?" he asked.

"Just come here." I repeated. He obliged and I placed my paw on his leg. A moment later, I put a small shock of electricity through his leg. He jumped back and kicked me in the back.

"Fuck off!" He said as he shook off his leg, trying to regain feeling in it.

"So it works." I said as I looked back over the water in contemplation, curiously examining my paw. I could tell Sam wanted to push me into the water, but he knew I was far stronger than he was at this point.

I spent a large majority of that day doing what I said I wouldn't do, performing for my friends. I was making little water shapes, then freezing them solid. I was making words made of fire in the air, and I was making sticks fight each other in the air using telekinesis. I must have been out till almost suppertime, when I thought of something else that was really cool.

Telekinesis was the manipulation of matter with one's mind. Theoretically, I could lift up to ten tonnes with my telekinesis. I was made of matter, and I only weighed 225 pounds.

I can't believe I didn't think of this before.

"Okay guys, watch this, I'm gonna see if I can do this."

They all waited to see what I was going to do, so I made a big deal out of slowly walking down to the water on a branch, where I used my telekinesis to ensure that I hovered a certain level, so it looked like I was walking on the water. I was actually just flying at a height that made it look like I was.

"Holy crap, he really IS Jesus!" Nick commented as he laughed hysterically. Typical Nick.

"Check this out guys, I'm the first tiger to walk on water." I took a few steps, making sure I was using the power to stay level, but I wobbled a bit, making it look like I was off balance. "Just kidding guys, I'm just using telekinesis to keep me here." I said. "See yas!" I waved to them, then propelled myself up in the air up to a good 50 feet in the air where I hovered for a moment.

I looked down to see all four of them looking to the sky. I just smiled and looked over the trees before zipping around in the sky over the forest.

My god, the freedom of flying, you have no idea. Up there in the sky, the trees and water zipping around below you. It's like nothing in the world could touch you. I don't think words can really describe the feeling, so just imagine yourself up there in the air, and tell me it wouldn't be the greatest thing in the world. It's like riding a roller coaster, except you control where it is.

Also, it's a great feeling when the power that is moving you happens to also be a lot stronger than it needs to be to move you. That made it really speedy, and well controlled, and all you needed to do was will it to be so.

I did a few circles in the air around the forest that we were in before going back to the log with my friends in it.

"Whoa! That's awesome!" Sam exclaimed.

"Take me out for a fly!" Tyler insisted.

"Me too!" Ryan agreed.

"Um, I'll pass." Nick said as he shook his head and made hand motions as if to reject the idea.

Everyone looked to nick to wonder why. I didn't really need to wonder, he never really does anything. He's always the one who stays on shore when we go swimming, or walks while we're biking, or stays on the ground when we climb a tree.

"Why don't you wanna go Nick?" Sam asked. "Come on, you can even go first." He offered.

I didn't give Nick any time to respond, I just grabbed him and jumped high into the air. He was flailing and whining the entire time, telling me to put him down with fear in his voice.

"Lighten up a bit dude, just enjoy the ride." I did a few more circles and hovered back down for a smooth landing on the log.

He looked bothered, and he acted like he was done a great injustice, but I could feel the euphoria that he was trying to hide. It was seeping from him in waves.

I took them all out for a short fly one at a time, and all of them were telling me how awesome it was, but I was getting hungry. So I flew them all home instead of making them walk. One at a time, one to each house.

That was a lot of fun. Any passerby in the area would stop for a moment to gape at the flying tiger, but I didn't stop to talk or even show off. I was too hungry at that point.

Back home I went to eat, where I rediscovered that I could only eat the chicken Mom had made. I couldn't eat the potatoes or corn. Damn, I was a carnivore to begin with, but it was nice to have a variety from time to time.
