CHAPTER THREE

NEVER TALK BACK

The Lomur pulled into the harbor of Juneau, homeport of the Alaskan Fishing Company, just as the sun was coming up on the morning of October 2nd, 2017. As the ship pulled up to the dock, hordes of news reporters swarmed the gangway, hoping to ask the two survivors questions. However, as Darin and Robert walked out onto the deck, a truck pulled up towing a trailer with a boat cradle on it. Darin and Robert were directed to their lifeboat where they climbed in and a crane lifted them up and onto the trailer. After the lifeboat was secured on the trailer, the truck pulled away.

The reporters were disappointed that their chance to get some answers as to how the two survivors, well, survived slip away. They were going to have to do some explaining to their bosses as to why they failed to get the story.

The truck took the boys to the Alaskan Fishing Company docks, where they boarded their original trawler that was damaged during the first storm. They climbed out of the lifeboat and up the gangway. A crane came over and loaded their lifeboat aboard the trawler.

Darin and Robert resettled into their cabin for the third time. They were emerging into the hallway when whole crew began cheering, welcoming them back from their ordeal.

Darin and Robert had now cheated death five times. However, Darin was getting the feeling that they were pushing their luck a little too hard. He knew that just as the gas in a car runs out, so too would their luck also give out.

The Capt. M. J. Souza sailed out of dry dock around 5:00 PM that evening out into the open sea; her crew full of spirit that even after a narrow escape with nature they could still come out on top.

Darin was on the stern watching the sun continue its decent, lighting up the horizon with a golden fire. The trawler sliced through the water like a hot knife through butter. The sky showed no signs of treacherous weather, only a clear night sky. The moon was full and cast a milk-blue light on the trawler.

Darin turned and looked at the lifeboat that he and Robert had used to survive the harsh storm that almost took their lives. The lifeboat was on a cradle on the right side of the deck, its orange top was bright enough to be seen at night.

Darin's mind flashed back to those terrifying moments when they drifted for three days. He remembered the sense of hopelessness as the ocean currents carried them to where ever it was it flowed. Most of all was the sense of fear; fear of loosing your life, fear of not coming back in this life. For three days, Darin dealt with these emotions. For three days, it ate away at him slowly. It was not until Keiko found them that Darin was rescued from these demons. Joy filled that which fear had claimed. The transition from fear to joy was so sudden that Darin almost felt as if ten tons of weight and pressure had been lifted and then experiencing a sudden feeling of weightlessness.

Darin looked out on the water and saw Keiko swimming a few yards away. Darin smiled; Keiko was not going to make the same mistake twice, not on his watch.

Darin walked over to the door to the inside, down a flight of stairs, then around the corner to the mess hall then a right to the crew cabins. Darin remembered the shock he got when they first arrived and still had the same effect the second time. He opened the door to discover Robert reading on of his newly bought books.

"Hay fat boy!" Darin said.

Ever since his cousin, Mike, started calling him 'fat boy' Darin began calling everyone else he was close with fat boy.

"What fat boy." Robert replied.

"Lets say at the start of our first job on a trawler, our luck was at 100%," said Darin.

"Okay." Robert said, wondering where this was going.

"...And every time something bad happened to us, our luck went down. Now, we have survived two sinking ships, what percent would you say our luck is at right now?"

Robert thought about it for a while before answering.

"I would say 52%," he replied.

"I would say 5%. We really have been pushing it hard recently," said Darin.

"You're right, we have been pushing it, but we can fill it back," said Robert.

"Okay, let's say we can fill it. However, that leaves us with a question, how do we do it?" said Darin.

"By wearing good luck charms for seven hours, for seven days, for seven months, for seven years?" Robert suggested.

"One problem, we don't have any good luck charms!" said Darin.

"I guess we better watch our step," said Robert.

"Say what?" said Darin.

"I said I guess we better watch our step," Robert replied.

"Say what?" Darin asked.

"I SAID...I...GUESS...WE...BETTER...WATCH...OUR...STEP!" Robert replied loudly.

"Holy crap, you're thinking logically!" Darin exclaimed.

"Oh shut up!" Robert shot back.

Robert put his book down and switched off his reading light. Darin crawled into his bunk, drew the covers over him, and fell into a peaceful sleep.

The next morning, Darin and Robert were up early. They had a full day ahead of them. Darin went to the mess hall to see if breakfast is being served while Robert dressed himself. When he emerged from the cabin, his nose caught the smell of eggs and bacon cooking. Robert walked to the mess hall where he found Darin sitting at the table, eating his breakfast.

"Good morning Robert," Darin said cheerfully.

"What's so good about it?" Robert asked irritably.

Robert went over to the counter and ordered his breakfast.

"Eggs over easy and bacon," he said.

Robert stood and waited for his breakfast. When the cook handed him his breakfast, Robert took it stiffly then walked over to the tabled where Darin was at and sat down. He flung out his utensils and attacked his meal.

Darin watched Robert eat his breakfast with concern. Robert was not a morning person and never had been. However, this morning he seemed to have a big chip on his shoulders.

After breakfast, they began their work schedule. This morning they were working up on deck. Darin was to work in the tower and monitor the pulleys and ropes.

Robert was working on the deck with the nets. The crews were given wireless hands-free radio communication devices that kept everyone in contact.

"Robert, is the net ready?" Darin asked.

"Net is ready." Robert replied.

Two men assisted Robert in attaching the net to the towlines then lower the net into the water. Darin adjusted the slag in the lines and the distance the net is dragged behind the trawler through levers and dials. He then sat back and relaxed until the net was full. Darin was watching the activities below when a conversation broke out over the radio and listened in on it.

"Robert, I need you to help Phil with the fish well hatch," said a crewmember.

"No you do it John!" Robert shot back.

"I asked you," said John.

"I can't and I won't!" Robert replied.

Darin could tell the situation was heading south fast and stepped in.

"Robert do as he says, talking back is not going to get us anywhere."

"I can't take it any more!" said Robert.

"You can and you will!" said Darin.

"Oh fine!" said Robert angrily.

Robert went over to Phil who was trying to open the fish well. The doors were jammed shut and had to be pried open. The fish well had two steel doors that a single man could open. However, the doors had rusted shut. Robert sprayed some WD-40 on the hinges and joints. Phil then tried opening one door. In fifteen minutes, they had the doors open and just in time, for alarms telling that the net was full were going off.

The crew sprang into action, pulling ropes and winches. The deck was a mass of activity as they brought in the net out of the water. They toiled as the heavy net slid up the slanted stern. Robert directed the crew to the open fish pit was with hand signals.

The fish pit was a section of the deck that slanted down to a point where the fish would fall and slid into the well.

When the front of the net was in position, Robert then gave Darin the ok to raise the rear of the net up and dump the fish into the well.

There was the sound of ropes straining then the back of the net began to rise up and fish began pouring out of the front in to the well by the thousands. The crew on deck was cheering and dancing as the well began to fill up.

When the net was empty, they had over three million dollars worth of fish in the well. They were now closer to meeting their quota of five million. Phil went to the wheelhouse and told the captain that the well was full. The captain then ordered a course for Adak where their freezer ship would be waiting.

The Capt. M. Z. Souza sailed at full speed to the small port of Adak on Adak Island in the Aleutian Islands. The small island played host to the Adak National Air Force base, which was 2.25 miles southwest of the port of Adak.

The Capt. M. Z. Souza pulled into port around 6:00 PM. The crew was on deck ready to throw lines to the men on the dock. Once the trawler was tied up, the unloading began and took until 8:30 PM to complete. Once the off load was complete, the trawler was untied from the dock and turned back towards the Bering Sea. The Souza was now eleven hundred tons lighter as she sailed through the now choppy seas. The wind was starting to pick up and the sea was becoming rough.

Darin and Robert were on the stern filling the lifeboat's gas tank. The two both believed in preventative maintenance and since they had used some of the fuel navigating the ice field, it was only wise that the tank should be full in the event of another emergency.

Darin had just topped off the tank and closed the gas cap when the ship began to roll. He looked at the sea and saw that the waves were no longer friendly. Darin gave Robert the nozzle who put it away quickly. Darin opened the entrance hatch and sat on the edge of it. Robert stood close to the lifeboat's entrance hatch and had his left hand on the edge, ready to pull himself up if he needed to. They watched as the trawler pitched and rolled in the heavy seas. Waves began crashing down on the bow. The chopper on top of the wheelhouse had been secured before they left port.

Darin looked up at the tower, imaging himself up there in this storm, the thought of it made him sick. Robert had climbed into the lifeboat with Darin and sat next to him.

"Mind if I join you?" Robert asked.

"Not at all." Darin replied as he helped Robert up.

Robert sat down next to the column that supported the seat for the cockpit. He sighed as he remembered their experience before.

"We have been very lucky to be here," said Darin.

"That we are," said Robert.

"When this is all over, I'm going to look into a trawling company in Florida and...Robert, are you okay?"

Robert was pointing out the hatch, eyes wide at a monstrous wave coming their way. Darin turned his head to look out and saw it.

"Oh crap!" he said.

Darin slammed the hatch shut and locked it, then climbed up to the cockpit and looked out as the wave barreled down on them. Darin's eyes went wide at the wave's size, almost twenty feet high above the deck of the trawler. He jumped down from the cockpit just as the wave crashed down on them. The wave lifted the lifeboat off the cradle and over the side. Darin and Robert felt their stomachs drop as they plunged into the sea and for the second time, was seat adrift. The crew of the Capt. M. Z. Souza had no idea the boys were missing. It was not until roll call that they realized they were gone. The captain was not short of volunteers, since the Alaskan Fishing Company hired people with different skill levels. On the captain's crew list were two men, Dave and Tom, who possessed pilot licenses and had flown choppers before. The captain ordered that they take off and search for them once the storm had died down. Once the waves had calmed enough, they got into the chopper, started the engines and took off.

Meanwhile, Darin and Robert were dazed after being tossed around in the storm. Their lifeboat had landed on the shores of an unknown island. Darin and Robert picked themselves up off the floor and opened the hatch. They stepped out of the boat and onto the sandy shore. Darin looked at the palm trees growing around.

"What is this place?" he asked.

"Darin, where are we?" Robert asked.

"I haven't even the faintest idea," Darin replied.

While they were looking around their surroundings, they failed to notice someone watching them. On the edge of the forest stood a dragon, his massive form was well hidden in the thick trees.

The grey dragon stood 8' 8" tall with black scales and had a very muscular build. He watched the two humans look around, oblivious of his presence. The way they studied their surroundings interested him. He thought about presenting himself before the humans but decided against it. The dragon left his hiding place and went deeper into the forest. He walked through the thick jungle and came to a clearing where an ancient city stood. The dragon smiled as the city was his home. He entered the city and walked down the street. Around him were morphs. Morphs were ordinary creatures that had human characteristics for example; they stood upright, had appose-able thumbs, and could talk.

The dragon walked down the street to a building where the cities young gathered. A young mare ran out to him greeted him.

The mare was drop dead gorgeous. She was 6' 5" and had a beautiful body. Her curves were smooth and soft. She was muscular and had the most adorable face in the whole city. She wore a white tank top and a pair of blue over-alls torn above the knee. She had fur on her forearms and ankles.

"Hi Ultimus Telum," the mare said.

"Hi Dalia," the dragon replied.

"What have you been doing?" Dalia asked.

"Watching some visitors on the beach." Telum replied.

"We have visitors?" Dalia asked in interest.

"Two, young, human males," Telum asked.

"Shall I get the girls?" Dalia asked.

"By all means, this will be a show not to miss," Telum replied.

Dalia walked down the stone streets of the Aztec style city to a building with large writing on the doorway, which read:

Danger to all men who enter this hall, nymphomaniacs lie in wait for their victim.

Dalia laughed lightly and was about to enter when the ruler of the city, Terrorclaw Archon, approached her.

"What are you doing?" he asked.

Dalia turned to face him and bowed.

Terrorclaw Archon had been the ruler of her city for as long as she could remember. Terrorclaw was a raptor morph, standing at a towering 8' 6" a muscular build, and a wise mind. He had ordered a special place to be built for the nymphomaniacs to live in peace. Terrorclaw designated them as 'the welcoming party' because of how they greeted their guests.

"My friend, Telum, has seen two male humans on our shores, I was just going to get the welcoming party ready to meet them." Dalia replied.

"Continue as you were, I will not stop you. I fact, I encourage you," said Terrorclaw.

"May I ask why you are in such great spirit?" Dalia asked.

"It has been so long since we had guests here. I only wish to welcome the ones we have now warmly." Terrorclaw replied.

Dalia smiled and opened the doors to the hall, her nostrils flared with a smell. She told herself that it was only because they had been locked up for so long and not that they had been 'playing' with each other.

The temple was huge, built in a circle shape. The floor was all marble of different colors. The middle of the temple was five hundred feet from the door.

Dalia walked down the corridor to the middle of the temple.

In the middle of the temple, the floor was a breathtaking sight. There was a green circle with five gold lines branching out from it. The lines connected to a gold ring and in the spaces between the gold lines, aqua marble lay. The pillars supporting the roof were made out of polished red stone with gold trim on the ends. Oak doors leading to the nymphomaniacs' individual rooms were space along the wall of the central circle.

Dalia took a moment to take in the sight. She gazed at the beauty of the temple and wished that she could live here with in the temple walls.

"Oh girls, we have guests on the beach. Come and see," she called.

The doors flew open and the temple began to shake as hundreds of females came running. Dalia stood off to the side of a column as the stampede passed by. She laughed an evil laugh as she followed them to the beach.

"This is going to be fun," she said.

Meanwhile, Darin and Robert had walked down the beach a good mile from their lifeboat, wondering how it was possible that a tropical paradise could exist in the middle of the artic.

"It could be an eco system cause," said Robert.

"That could be possible," said Darin.

"It is strange though, landing on an island that's not even on the map. In addition, we haven't even seen one living thing here. Dose this island have anything that can support life?" Robert ranted.

"Well it has running water," said Darin.

They stopped and before them was a running stream of fresh water. They approached it with caution and drank from it.

"It's clean. Drinkable, can it be possible? A wild stream requiring no filtration?" said Darin astounded.

"Anything's possible," said Robert.

"Just not probable. I should take some back with us...did you feel that?" said Darin.

"Feel what?" Robert asked.

"That!" said Darin.

Robert stood still and silent. He focused his attention to his surroundings. Then he felt the ground shake a little. He looked at the stream and saw ripples. Darin stood up and walked over to him.

"Do you feel it?" he asked.

"I'm not sure, I felt something, but I'm not quite sure what it is," Robert replied.

The ground shook again, this time continually. Then they heard something in the forest and turned to see what was there. Suddenly, a T-Rex burst out of the jungle and ran before them.

It splashed through the water and slowed to a stop. Darin and Robert stood motionless, hoping the myth that T-Rex's poor eyesight would hold firm. For a moment, it appeared that the T-Rex had not spotted them until it look straight at them. Darin's nose caught a sweet scent coming from the T-Rex and his eyes went wide. The T-Rex was female and in heat. Darin began to have thoughts of what was to come when the dinosaur roared loudly. He and Robert stood still in fear when they saw movement from the jungle. More creatures emerged for the jungle, their jaws dropped at the number of them. Then, Dalia emerged from the jungle and pointed at them.

"Look girls, male virgins! Pick you mate and make him yours!" she said.

Darin saw the whole world slow down. He could hear his heartbeat and his breathing. He saw the mass coming at him in slow motion. Whatever they were saying he could not hear it for his focus was one thing only and that was safety, wherever it was.

Robert was experiencing the same thing as well. He looked at Darin to see him turn in slow motion and start running.

"Run away!" Darin shouted.

Robert hesitated before following suite. The mob of females chased after them. Darin and Robert sprinted off into the jungle, hoping to lose their pursuers there.

Darin was running his hardest to evade whoever was chasing him. He look back to see a raptor behind him. She looked at him with a smile as she weaved her way through the thick jungle, not even tearing the clothes she wore.

The raptor was gaining ground on him and he was becoming desperate. He climbed up a tree hoping to at least to get out of her reach. He climbed to the highest point and looked down to see the raptor looking up at him. She smiled at him with her hands on her hips and could now see the clothes she wore.

The raptor was 6' 11" and wearing black shorts and a purple top. She also had blond hair. Her skin was brown with a white stripe from under her chin, down her front, and under the entire length of her tail.

"You sure are making this a challenge, I like that. It makes catching you that more fun," she said.

Darin shivered at the thought of what she said. However, the way she said it sounded familiar. Then it struck him; the raptor was a nymphomaniac. Darin was familiar with it since his next-door neighbor was one. Those were dark days. He had been told that he had what most teens would kill for. He also knew that with the raptor being nymphomaniac, she would not stop until she had him.

Darin watched as the raptor grabbed the tree and began climbing it. Darin panicked and looked for an escape route. He searched franticly and saw a branch close by. He jumped and grabbed it then pulled himself up onto it. He then started jumping from tree to tree with the raptor behind him.

Meanwhile, two females were pursuing Robert. One was a brontosaurus morph; the other was a raptor morph. Both had the desire and the speed to catch him. Robert looked back to get a visual on his pursuers; what he saw shocked him. The brontosaurus was about 7' 6" tall. She wore a white tank top with some sort of writing, which Robert could not make out. She had a tie-dye skirt tied around her waist. The skirt covered her right leg completely while her left was exposed.

Robert looked back again to see where the raptor was and was shocked at the sight of her. The raptor had light brown skin. She stood about 5' 9", wearing a pink dress that stopped six inches below her hips.

Robert ran with all his might as his pursuers closed in on him. The brontosaurus swung her tail at Robert, who dogged it and ran into the trees. He climbed up and jumped from tree to tree. The raptor took pursuit and followed his every move.

Meanwhile, Darin jumped down from the tree he was in and ran off out onto the beach again. He was about to make a mad dash for the lifeboat when another T-Rex emerged. Unlike the one he had seen earlier this one was more human like. She stood 6' 10" tall with a very attractive body. She wore a pink dress with tie strings along the sides of her legs.

She approached him slowly, swaying her hips with each step. Darin stepped back as she drew closer. Then from behind him, he heard movement and turned quickly to see what it was.

There stood another raptor. She stood 6' 6" tall. She had tattoos on her chest, stomach, left arm and leg. Her outfit was on the line of skimpy at best. She was then joined by the raptor that had chased him through the trees.

"Good work Thorne, I see you and Tyra have caught our runaway date," she said.

"What should we do with him Solange?" Tyra asked.

"I don't know, what do you think Thorne?" Solange asked.

"Give them the treatment." Throne replied.

The girls laughed and approached Darin.

"Sorry girls, I have other plans," said Darin smartly.

He then took off running at Solange as she tried to block him. Darin tried to shake her but she was too quick. He then noticed that she had her legs spread in her stance and decided to exploit this. He ran straight at Solange and then dove between her legs, sliding on the sand. Solange was surprised by this move; however, she had a move of her own. She used her tail to try to slip it down his shirt as he slid. Darin picked himself up and ran into the jungle again before Solange could snag him. The three girls chased after him.

Meanwhile, Robert was in trouble. He failed to shake the girls chasing him and managed to snag the T-Rex that he and Darin had seen earlier into the chase.

"You really got your work cut out now," Robert told himself.

He was running on the beach when he slipped and fell flat on his face. His pursuers caught up to him. The brontosaurus approached him and placed a hand on his cheek.

"So young," she said.

"A very young child, doesn't that make your heart soar with joy?" the raptor asked.

"Yes it doses Val." Brenda replied.

Robert took advantage of their admiration and managed to escape from them. He ran into the jungle where he saw Darin running.

"Head deeper!" Darin shouted as he ran by.

Robert followed him into the heart of the jungle and towards the city. The boys were running a marathon for their lives and virginity. They jumped, ducked, and crawled their way through the jungle as fast as they could. Then they entered the clearing where they saw the city. Darin looked back and saw their pursuers close behind.

"No time to think about it, run!" said Darin.

They hurried towards the city gates where two guards stood. Before either of them could stop the boys, they had entered the city with a cloud of dust behind them. The guards looked at each other before a stampede of females zoomed passed them.

Darin and Robert weaved through the crowd that looked at them in wonder. The boys ran into a building with large writing on the doorway. They skidded to a stop on the marble floor then went in search of a hiding place. They explored the building in a hurry and found no place to hide. They were about to run out of the building when their pursuers blocked off their escape. Solange stepped forward and smiled at them.

"You boys have proven your selves worthy of becoming our mates, for you have led us to our home and stand before us in the main chamber," she said.

Darin swallowed hard. They were done for. Solange approached Darin and placed a hand on his shoulder.

"You have proven to be a very difficult challenge my love," she said.

Solange locked her lips on Darin's in a deep kiss. She let her hands glide over him in an embrace.

Brenda and Val approached Robert slowly. Brenda cradled Robert and hugged him. Val ran her finger down his cheek and smiled at him.

"He's so cute," she said.

"The best part is that he's ours," said Brenda.

Robert was trying to break free but their attention was causing him to go limb. The T-Rex that had started all this, entered the hall and approached Brenda.

"Terri, you want to see our baby?" Brenda asked.

The T-Rex nodded and came closer to Brenda. She lowered her head and looked at Robert as he shook in Brenda's arms. She growled and nuzzled him tenderly.

Darin was busy trying to come up with a plan to get them out of the hall. He watched as the girls worked them into the mood and saw an opportunity. Thinking on the same level as one with a desire, he discovered that the girls would try to arouse them with something. He waited to see what would happen next and to his surprise, Solange released him from her embrace.

"Now don't you go anywhere, I'll be right back love," she said.

The rest of the girls followed her, leaving the boys alone.

"Now's our chance, run for it," said Darin.

They silently made their way to the door and found it locked.

"It's locked," said Robert.

"Gee you think?" said Darin sarcastically.

Darin looked at the door then its hinges and found the solution to their problem.

"Take the pins out," said Darin.

They began pulling the pins out of the door with the lock. Once the pins were out, they pulled on the door and cracked the door open. They then set the pins back in and closed the door on their way out.

"Nice knowing you all but we have a job to do," said Robert in triumph.

"Don't let it go to your head," said Darin.

They had just turned around when they came face to face with Telum.

"Hello boys!" he said.

"Okay, what do you want?" Darin asked.

Telum roared and another dragon flew down. He landed next to Telum with a thud.

"Blast that door open!"

The other dragon breathed in and then released a powerful beam that vaporized the door.

When the dust cleared, Darin and Robert were staring at Dalia.

"All this chasing is making us hot. Let's all settle down and have some fun," she said.

Telum and his friend grabbed Darin and Robert and took them into the hall again. The boys looked at the girls holding handcuffs. The situation was becoming too much for Darin very fast and began to cry softly. Solange quickly came to him and Telum gave him to her. Solange cradled him in her arms.

"Shh...don't cry my love, you're safe with me," she said tenderly.

Solange rocked Darin in her arms gently. She had realized that he could not handle his situation and had cracked under the stress. She took him to her room in the hall where she placed him on her bed. She tucked him in and lay down beside him. Darin was asleep when she kissed him.

Meanwhile, Robert was fighting for freedom with all his strength however; Brenda had a good-grip on him. She put his hands in the handcuffs. Thorne clasped his legs and looked at him eye to eye.

"I know that this may seem like torture, but believe me soon you will see what we have in store for you," she said.

Val then approached Robert and began to work him in to the mood; soon Robert was at their mercy.

Meanwhile, Solange was fast asleep with her arm across Darin, holding him close. She was in love with the human beside her. As she slept, she began to dream of her dream life.

Darin was dreaming of escape and freedom. He dreamed that he had escaped and was going home to Shora.

Meanwhile, the search party was returning to the Capt. M. Z. Souza after searching for their missing crewmembers. Their search had taken them to the late hours of the day and had turned up nothing. They landed the chopper on the landing pad just as the sun was setting.

"Well did you find them?" the captain asked.

"No sir, they are probably somewhere out there," Dave replied.

The captain sent out a search request for all fishing vessels to search for Darin and Robert's lifeboat. The captain received over a thousand trawlers, offering to join in the search. The captain also received replies from recreational pilots who joined in the search. One pilot it particular was John Ashbin.

John Ashbin was living on the Alaskan mainland. He was 34 years old and was 7' 6" tall. He had a very muscular build and worked out often. He worked at FedEx as a pilot and earned enough money to fill a Boeing 747 cargo plane from nose to tail solid. Now retired, he bought himself a 1984 British Aerospace Corporation plane.

It was early Wednesday morning and John was pulling into the parking lot at the local airport. He checked in with the control tower where he drew out his flight plan. After that, he then went to his plane, taxied down the runway, and took off. John was feeling good about his chances of finding the lifeboat, however, where he would find them would shock him.
