The Furbidden love

A Sabeh sits alone at the bar. He is a construction site foreman, on the moon colony above their world. His name is Terrance, he is a mixed breed. This for his species is a bad thing. He is basically avoided like a leper. He is waiting for his best friend to come to the bar from her job. He is a nice guy just no one gives him a chance.

"Another shot, and keep 'em comin," he says. "Pay me for all of them at the end of the night freak," was what the bartender said.

Little did Terrence know that there was a Deuterite staring at him. She was with her friend as well. Her friend was going on about something that was going in one ear and out her other on the sides of her mask. What he was saying was of no real consequence however.

"Hey are you listening," he said.

Looking over at Tank Ilat said "Of course, you were talking about the suit tears at work again."

"Well yeah, they just piss me off so much but you seem distracted by something. Please tell me it's not that mixed breed Sabeh," Tank said.

Snorting Ilat said "What business is it of yours, people are people. Everyone deserves a chance at happiness, his parents obviously understood that."

"Well, look at how his own people treat him. They must have been two runaway teens because their parents would let them be together," he said, indignant.

Rolling her glowing red eyes Ilat said "You always see the worst and get offended at any jokes."

"Sorry it's just there isn't any future in that relationship, even if there were it would just be one thing after another," he said.

Shrugging Ilat said "Maybe, maybe not, who knows, maybe this is the kick in the ass to get all those suit tears in genetics to fix the problems that keep us trapped in these suits." Getting out of their little booth she walked over and sat down next to the mixed Sabeh and gestured to the barman.

"Coming right up sweetie," the barman said.

Turning to face her new drinking partner and seeing Tank shaking his head out of the corner of her visor Ilat said "I'm Sav'Ilat Ein Rayondi but I mostly go by Ilat, what's your name?"

"Terrance Roland Biggs," he said not looking up from his glass.

As the barman came back with her vial Ilat hooked it into the side of her helmet and drank it through the drink tube while looking over Terrance. Unlatching it and handing it back to the barman and nodding for another before saying "So, hard day at work?"

"You could say that, really it was the same as any other day, and I'm really not comfortable with people coming up to me. It feels odd," he said.

Shrugging Ilat said "You looked lonely, and my friend was being annoyingly bigoted."

"I get that, damn patternists. Bad enough that most of the crew won't listen because of my pattern but then I got to take it from guy's like that. I'm regretting leaving planet side," he said downing his fifth shot.

Taking her second vial Ilat asked "Was it any better down there?

"A bit, at least I could go to a familiar home every day. And had my family to talk to and see, and more friends, but other than that no," he said, "Came here to make some money, not get treated like shit, so what about you?"

Rolling her eyes Ilat said "It's barely better up here, I was hoping that up here the genetic engineers would have type of system for our people to live outside the suit, I would have volunteered in a heartbeat. Instead they're working on things like the eye glows since up here it's legal, thanks to the moon being considered its own sovereign nation."

Looking up he saw her eyes and said, "Well they did a great job. But getting your species out of those suits should take priority, but a fool and his money are soon to part."

Nodding Ilat said "Of course, since it's illegal down there it's expensive up here, mine are from testing so I got paid to have them. The geneticist in charge is an arrogant suit tear of a genius, if his team set to it they likely could have the problem squashed in under a year since they're already altering genes, testing would be legal within the next three years according to lunar law."

"Suit tear means asshole right," he asked.

Chuckling Ilat nodded and said "Something like that, yeah."

"I have a few Deuterites in my work crew, they're hard workers. They got the eye thing too, but you look good with it," Terrance said.

Snorting Ilat said "That term, so stupid, almost as much so as the suiting nickname I had growing up in an area normally full of Sabeh." Realizing that he had complimented her Ilat then sputtered out the response of "And, uh, thanks, I like being the only one with red eyes."

"So you come here often," he asked.

Snorting and then breaking out in laughter Ilat nodded and said "Usually, the barman knows my usual vial anymore so it's quicker to order drinks."

"I think my friend isn't going to show up I'm going to leave," he said as he started to get up, and put the cost of the drinks on the table.

As he walked past Ilat waved her left suit hand over his personal tech pad, knowing that he would see her message she gestured for the barman to give her another pair of vials and after getting them headed back to where Tank was still sitting.

Fifteen minutes later a lithe and rather tall Sabeh wearing green scrubs and a small lab coat. She appeared to be looking for someone where Terrence was just sitting. She looked confused and maybe just a little bit angry. She asked the bartender and he pointed to Ilat. She walked over to the table.

Looking up Ilat asked the rather unique looking Sabeh with gorgeous white fur and a jaded blue textured color on her new moon shaped patterning, "Can I help you?"

As she opened her mouth to answer Ilat noticed her small teeth that the Sabeh were named after were on her bottom jaw instead of her top, "The sake master directed me to you when I asked him about me friend Terry."

Smiling with her teeth glowing a neon green Ilat said "He said he got tired of waiting for you and the Barman being a, what was the term oh yes, asshole to him, he went home."

Sighing the Sabeh said "Alright, thanks," before walking off.

Calling out Ilat said "What's your name?"

Turning back and smiling widely with her completely pale eyes flashing the Sabeh said "Call me Xan, most do, ja-ne!" while waving and walking out of the bar.

Walking out of the bar Tae-Xan pulled out her custom personal tech and press the quick key for Terrance. The line rang twice before he answered, "Hello?"

Pressing the key sequence to convert it to a video chat Tae-Xan said "Hey Terry, I just got out of the bar we agreed upon, you left five minutes before I said I would be there, your new Baurisian friend told me you left because the barman was being an ass and I was late, but you were just not wanting to talk, were you."

"Well I was making an ass of myself, and I needed to get out of there," he responded.

Laughing Xan said "I've seen that girl before, she makes a point of being different, she's currently the subject of five experimental gene therapies, she makes her living up here being a test subject in our facility."

"Yeah, she's pretty cute," Terry responded.

"One moment," he said as he got up to buzz her in, "ok come on in."

Walking into his apartment she severed the link and dropped onto his couch, shaking her head Xan said "Terry, you know I'm all for every option being a valid one, but the problems with two different life form basis interbreeding when one's bodily fluids is poison to the other and vice versa it just won't work. That isn't even getting into the fertility problems." Shaking her head she gestured to his fridge and asked "Do you have anything good?"

"I've got a whole bottle of gin in the cabinet, and there's a bottle of Vodka chilling in the freezer, ordered a pie with everything on it including anchovies as well," he said.

Looking at him with a raised eyebrow for an instant Xan chuckled at his affection for the strange furred fish and grabbed the bottle of 80 proof vodka and after opening it simple took a shot straight from the bottle before pouring herself a mixed drink with the vodka and the gin and some sugar and mixed fruit drink from the fridge. Walking back in she said "Look, I'm just saying that the number of problems you would have to overcome are enormous, Radverion ridge sized, and going straight through the atmosphere just like they do. But if you really like her I'll take a look at her personal gene sequence and yours compared before getting back to you on it."

"I don't know, she's cute but I don't know if we would work out in the long run," he said trailing off. Looking at his face and then his crotch Xan said "Your brain says no but your soldier and your heart say yes."

"I guess it's something worth looking into, so I guess, yeah go ahead and look into it. Speaking of which there's a message on my personal tech," he said playing the message Ilat left.

A video popped onto the screen of her with another style of suit on, but her eyes were the same visible red coloration. "Heyo, it would seem that whoever you are, I probably got your name and liked your personality, you caught my eye and my heart if I left you this message. Attached to this is my personal suit ID, the equivalent of your personal tech if you're a Sabeh." Closing her eyes for a second which showed her red eyes through the eyelids she smiled and showed her neon teal teeth and suddenly her lips were glowing pink for an instant as well as she kissed the inside of her helmet and said "Connect me."

Raising her eyebrow Xan said "I told you she liked to stand out, her teeth can change colours and if she concentrates her lips glow in the ultraviolet spectrum several layers under the skin, gives them that pink hue. And her red eyes, she is the only one that will have those for a long time; it was deemed too expensive to mass sell. The teeth are also unique to her; she is the only one we've found that has a genetic sequence that it works with."

"I like her, she's different," he said as a knock came at the door.

"Tony's Pizzeria," the person said.

Terry quickly answered the door gave the guy the money plus tip and said, "Have a nice night; plates ate in the cupboard third from the right from the stove.

While Terry was getting the pizza Xan got the plates and as he finished telling her where they were for the hundredth time she put his in his hands and said "I'm pretty sure that I know where the stuff is as well as you do by now." As they sat around the table and opened the pizza box she took a couple pieces with as little of the strange fish on them as possible.

"Sorry, it just comes out, but honestly I might just be better off settling for someone like you," he said defeated, grabbing a few slices himself with as much of the anchovies as he could, " if you don't want them just throw them on my plate."

Snorting and trying not to laugh Xan said "You met my dad when he visited, do you remember the shouting match we had over me recycling the left over tuna, that wasn't even me avoiding eating it, just trying to allow others less fortunate to enjoy such fine fish. Every time I try to avoid eating something I feel like he's glaring at me and getting ready to shout at me like was a kitten again.

"You're an adult now; you can live your life the way you want, though speaking of being a kitten I saw an old movie is going to be on in a few minutes. You remember The Furbidden Date," he asked.

Laughing Xan said "Do I, I loved it, I remember always putting myself into her role and you into his, do you remember when I stole those costumes from my mother's shop so that we could play the characters?"

"Oh yeah, I wasn't so enthusiastic then, since you used it as more of a way to kiss me," he said.

Laughing so hard she feel onto the floor Xan eventually got up and said "Well of course, I thought you were cute, could you blame me." After a moment she looked up at him and said "Would you like to try it again?"

"Try what again," Terry asked confused.

Slowly moving closer to him Xan said "The kiss of course, and anything else you like."

"I... I... don't know. I mean we've been friends for so long. Also I thought you were into big muscled Sabeh's like Jerry the jock, A.K.A. Major butt fuzz," Terry said.

Rolling her eyes Xan said "If you remember my dad set up that agreement, I prefer someone that can think for themselves." Putting a paw on his knee she didn't move any further yet, waiting for him. "What's making this come up? I mean you're not usually like this, and if I smell closely I think I can detect that you're not in heat," he asked.

Sighing Xan said "Can't you ever just accept something good happening to you? I've always been interested in you but you turn down any girl that hits on you, because you don't want to let your litter suffer from your mixed heritage like you have."

Ignoring being kind or waiting for his response Xan lunged forward and started kissing him. He doesn't resist at first liking the feeling of her teeth rubbing up against his. A minute passes and he doesn't resist the feeling they were experiencing was one of pure bliss. Neither wanted to break the kiss but Terry did after a few minutes.

"You know we should probably eat first and we could watch the movie and then do things," he said.

"Ah, yeah, sure," Xan said while rubbing her mouth more or less in awe of what she had felt.

"You know I have something I got a long time ago, my uncle on my dad's side gave me this really nice bottle of wine. Its vintage and goes back sixty years, and I was saving one of them for when I got married, but the other one is for a special occasion, want to go ahead and open it," he asked.

Nodding Xan said "That sounds good, you don't have any wine glasses but you have a couple nice plexi-glass ones."

"That I do," he said as he opened the bottle, "just one thing though. We've been through thick and thin. I was there when your dad beat you, you were there when I was beat savagely in critical condition. Just promise me that if we don't work out we won't let this ruin our friendship."

Nodding Xan went and got the glasses while saying "Nothing will split us apart except us, and even if this doesn't work we'll still be good friends."

"I'll hold you to it now how about that movie," he said.

We sat down on the couch and we had a great time watching the movie, about half way through she got one of Terry's hand knit quilts, and threw it over both of them and cuddled up next to him. He enjoyed it as much as she did. They didn't say a word until the movie was over.

"You're beautiful," he said.

Cuddling closer Xan said "And you're comfortable to be with," before leaning back and kissing him lightly and then turning over to get a better position to kiss him.

"Shall we retire to the bedroom," he asked

Nodding Xan took the quilt and threw it around his shoulders while slowly pulling him to the bedroom. They closed the door behind them as they entered the bedroom. They quickly undressed and crawled into the bed. They started out shaky at first then proceeded to bet into the same rhythm of thrusting and grinding. They kissed passionately as they passionately made love it was a new experience for both of them they had both fucked before but this was totally different. They weren't just doing it with their dates they were doing it with their best friend. They explored each other's body throughout the night and finally when they were both tired they fell asleep in each other's arms, hoping the night would never end.

In the morning, however, Terry was regretting it. He felt nothing but guilt but outside he didn't show it. His mind was saying that he had violated her. In truth they both wanted it. He didn't say anything though. She got dressed and left. He went to work as well after a tough scrubbing of his body to wash away the guilt. Later he was sitting inside the trailer at his worksite. He was looking over blueprints on his break. Then his eyes trailed over to his personal tech and he decided to give someone a call. He thumbed through and found Ilat's number and decided to call her. The line was ringing.

As it connected Ilat saw the little picture of him appear in her suit's visor and said "Irat zai, err, hey there, it was Terry right?"

"Yeah, am I interrupting anything," he asked.

Shaking her head Ilat giggled and said "Bav, I yar too many vials, I garreick a tiny bit drunk. Turning on the translator he said, "Hey, I was wondering if maybe you had this evening free, I promise I won't run off this time."

Staying quiet for a moment Ilat said "Tank said I shouldn't leave my apartment, you can come over here and watch this Sabeh movie with me."

"Well I'm at work right now; it's my last break so I'll be about two hours. By the way is your apartment listed on here," he asked.

"Ah, um, send location, that should be it." Ilat said slowly while stumbling a bit over her words.

"Ok well I got to get back to work see you in a bit," he said.

Smiling Ilat said "Okay, I'll probably be soberish by then."

Terry stood up and put in his ear wig that acted as a translator. Dealing with both species it helps out a lot on both sides. Even if you understand both foremen's have to wear them, part of the code of conduct. Makes sense really but it can be irritating, sometimes they think they should be more comfortable. They were busy making an expansion to the power plant, making a new expansion to the nuclear facility. On the way there he decided to pick up some flowers that complimented her red eyes. He arrived only a little bit after what he said it would be. He pressed the button to buzz her apartment, he left his ear wig in and he waited patiently for an answer.

As Ilat opened the door Terry saw that her suit had once again changed and she was now in a mostly purple suit with several segments of the seams and helmet gold covered and burned into a copper rainbow. Smiling with her teeth half neon purple and half neon orange Ilat said "Hey, I'm quite a bit more sober now, sorry about when you called, Tank had made me feel like shit for running you out of the bar and I just wanted to cheer up."

"Don't be sorry about it. I was just being me and I hadn't thought I deserved to see someone as attractive as you. I kind of had an odd day yesterday," Terry said.

Welcoming him in Ilat said "Sorry for the mess, I'm here basically all the time since my job doesn't actually require me to report it or leave the room, so it gets a bit insane in here." The room was low lit and there were several holo screens up with different things on them, majority of it didn't look like anything he had ever seen before, across the room were several pieces of technology in various states of completion, from a single motherboard to one of the walls being dominated by a series of technology related things all vastly beyond Terry's understanding.

"Its fine, mine isn't any better. I just kinda need someone to talk to," I hope you don't mind that I decided to talk to you, I would normally talk to my friend but she's kinda who I need to talk about," he said. Her helmet bobbing up and down Ilat said "Sure, talking is one of the things you learn to be good at when you can't actually use expression to help you get a point across."

"I feel guilty, about what she and I did last night," he said.

Looking over at him and looking him up and down Ilat said "Well it's more than I've done." "I mean we've been friends since we were kits. I don't even know what came over me," he said. "You confused loneliness with horniness, and thought that fixing one would fix the other." Ilat said flatly while sitting down in a chair he hadn't noticed before.

"She wants to move our relationship further. I just want to stay friends. You know," he asked, tears rolling down his cheeks.

Nodding Ilat said "Physical relationships complicate everything."

"Sorry it's just I feel so bad about it. I love her but it's a different kind. Not that soul mates thing or even mate. It just feels so wrong," he said.

"Used, betrayed, violated and violating." Ilat said calmly wither her teeth now shifting to a mostly red glow. "Sorry, I'm just used to people talking more, not the current situation," he said.

Laughing Ilat said "Sorry, I'm rather used to letting Tank go on his rants and just giving minimal response, so I tend to let people vent and then talk at the end. If you want I can actually talk quite a bit, I seem to remember slightly talking your ear off at the bar, though I don't quite understand that phrase, how would you talk someone's ear off, it's a biological part of your body that is growing from the top of your head, a rather large part of your body in some cases, wouldn't you agree that it's a rather strange saying, oh right, I was saying that I don't mind talking, in fact I rather enjoy talking, about so many topics and ideas and concepts that I annoy people sometimes with how much I can talk."

"I don't mind, feel free to talk as much as you want, I assure you my ears won't fall off, and don't mind the silly expression, that's all it is," he said.

"Oh, well if you don't mind my talking then I think you should stand up for your feelings and tell her that you don't want it to be anything more than good friends because take it from those of us trapped in the suits, you can be completely good friends with someone you're attracted to and it can still be totally and utterly platonic. Friendships are rather more beautiful when you don't mind giving more of your feelings that you normally would have to them, because that way they become what they can truly be."

"That's so simple, yet so elegant. You have a beautiful mind you know that," he said.

As she smiled her lips started glowing a scarlet red, and some of it seemed to spread to her cheeks as well. Her teeth had changed again to a light pink shade with a couple of them being pure white. "Uh, thanks, I try."

"Well it shows. Since you're feeling a bit better let's go get something to eat. I'm buying and no isn't an option," he said.

Her helmet tilting and one eye suddenly wasn't visible as Ilat winked she said "Deal, after all, I gave you some pretty sage advice right."

"Yeah, anywhere you'd prefer," he asked.

Shrugging Ilat said "Anywhere that actually serves my kind; it's pretty hard to screw up preprocessed food."

He smiled and said, "How about Naomi's."

"Sure, they have a killer spice mash, it actually has flavor, very rare!" Ilat said while chuckling and opening the door while mockingly bowing and gesturing for Terry to precede her out the door.

"So, no offence but what's it like being in a suit your whole life," he asked curious.

Straightening up again Ilat said "It depends on who you ask, I personally hate it but many seem to prefer it since that way they don't have to deal with the problem that you personally experience, patternism."

"Yeah, sorry I just wanted to know. I think you're lucky because you don't experience patternism but you have to keep yourself in a suit because your immune system is shot. I wish they would work on a way to fix it," he said, offering her his hand.

Taking it Ilat then used it to lead him out the door so she could lock it behind them and let Terry lead the way.
