Chapter 5

"Death"

The dream felt so real to him, what choice would he have to make? He didn't let it get to him as he got up from the bed. As he slipped into some fresh clothes he heard Salena rummaging through the cabinets in the kitchen. As saw her opening and closing all her cabinets as he buttoned up his jacket.

"Is something wrong?"

"We are out of food and water and I'm flat broke, do you have any silver that I could go buy some supplies with?" she asked as she closed the cabinets.

That's right, he had money. He reached into his pocket and felt around for what little silver he had. Three pieces, that wasn't good. That alone would only buy them a loaf of bread which wasn't bad but they couldn't live off it.

"What did you do to earn money before, surely we can earn money that way?"

"I use to sell healing potions, but I'm out of ingredients so I can't make any at the moment."

They both sighed in disappointment as their stomachs grumbled with hunger. It wasn't until he opened the door to look outside that he got a plan. There was a festival being set up, surely someone would hire them to work.

"Don't bother, no one would hire me."

"Why wouldn't they, if we told them of our situation they would probably give us a job."

'I'm a witch, we are looked down upon by many as being nothing but trouble."

"What trouble could you cause, seriously some people are just morons."

That was the first time she had heard anyone defend her, her face flushed a bit as he looked around outside. Nothing really caught his attention, but what was the harm in looking around? He dropped the three pieces of silver into her hand, letting her have it.

"If you find anything don't hesitate."

Things were usually pretty cheap at festivals so three silver would probably buy her some new potion ingredients.

"What about you?"

"I'll manage, don't worry your pretty little head I'll make us some money somehow."

The tents were just being set up as people started walking around, looking at all the stands. There was fortune telling, fruit stands, potion shops, and a couple of mask stands.. It wasn't nothing huge but it was fun to go and look around. The first thing that caught her eyes was a fortune teller stand. Like witches gypsies were looked down upon as delivering bad fortune so she would be ok. Inside was a woman that looked like she was almost the same age. She looked up at her with her crystal blue eyes.

"Can you tell me my future gypsy." she asked in a kind manner as she sat down on the chair in front of the desk.

"Sure, I need you to relax and let your mind go free. This will help give me a clear vision of your future yet to come."

She did as she was told and took a deep breathe in and exhaled softly. The fortune teller closed her eyes as the crystal ball started glowing blue.

"Oh my dear I see darkness in your future, a boy you just met will turn to darkness for help. He is the chosen one to vanquish the darkness."

Did she mean Yelmi?

"What does this darkness have to do with me?"

The gypsy gasped as she come from her trance.

"He will need you, and we will all need him."

Yelmi? That was nonsense, he didn't seem like one that would turn to darkness. However she did just meet him yesterday, but if he meant any harm he would have done it by then. She took a silver piece and laid it on the table before she left the stand, even though it was free she felt that she could use whatever money she could. As she left the tent she heard people cheering. To her right she saw a large, steel cage and inside were two people. It couldn't hurt to watch. Carefully she pushed her way through the crowd and to her surprise she saw a man who looked like he could snap her in half in two second, his massive arms pulsed as he got ready. What she saw next terrified her, Yelmi was in the cage, he did have his blade, but would that do much against a man twice his size?

"Yelmi!"

He looked to his right and saw her standing there, watching him face off against the giant. He didn't speak but instead gave her a thumbs up, reassuring her that he was going to be fine. A tall plump man stepped in front of the cage to announce what was happening.

"Remember, Gondau and Yelmi, the winner receives five thousand silver pieces. There are no rules, use whatever you need to in order to defeat your opponent."

They both walked to opposite sides of the cage as they both glared at each other.

"Don't expect me to go easy on you kid. Your signed up for this."

"I don't expect nothing less." he said as he took the sword from it's sheath.

All watched as the match began. Yelmi dared not move in caution that he might be walking into a trap. All Gondau did was stand at his corner and stare.

"Well, come on kid."

He couldn't just stand there all day, he learned what he learned from Gerald and used his ears to listen for any sounds around him. He thought he had him but once he raised his sword a large arm made from the rocks below blocked his attack. As soon as he lowered his guard the large hand grabbed him from around his waist and threw him against the iron bards. That wasn't pleasant, he got to his knees and stopped there.

"Giving up so soon little boy?" he grinned as he walked towards him.

Quickly he shoved his hands into the rubble below. The ground started heating up as Gondau looked around him. A circle of fire had appeared around him. Yelmi's starts started smoking as the fire started rising. The next thing he heard was a loud yell as the fire engulfed his opponent. He wasn't use to using so much of his elemental power, but he wanted to end it fast. The flames eventually disappeared revealing nothing but a black circle. He looked around as he felt the earth rumble under his feet. Just as he tried to move two stone shackles grabbed his legs, preventing him from moving an inch as the ground in front of him crumbled, revealing his opponent safe and sound.

"You didn't think it would be that easy to defeat me did you?"

In an instant the world went black.
