Ok well the block text is fixed but for some reason or another the text is now W I D E :P

Danny woke up o the bright sunlight leaking through the blinds of his apartment window. He covered his eyes with his paw soothing his hang over. He didn't want get up but it was either that or bear the sunlight. Reluctantly he sat up with a groan resting his elbows on his knees as he continues to awaken. His head was throbbing from the blow he had from the beer bottle the previous night. On top the sickly woozy feeling he was getting from his hangover he wasn't looking forward to the day.

Danny Tripe is a tall broad shouldered, and naturally heavy muscled anthropomophic canine. He was a mutt by most standards being a mix between a pit bull and some other canine. The only clues he had of his father's species came from his own features. His head was more streamlined than pit bulls, and his fur was black when his mother's was white. He never had much interest in finding his father since him and his brother looked out for each other. Now such a thing is the least of his concern.

Danny's apartment complex was one of the oldest buildings on the city. The brick walls in some place where falling apart. The smell of ageing wood and old drywall would normal overpower the smell of water damage in the walls. There were some mysterious stains on the doors frame of the bathroom doorway. A small clue to the history of this apartment that might have stopped Danny from renting it if wasn't the only thing he could afford. He had to sell his mothers house in Amarillo and his old truck he had in high school in order to pay the rent for the past year.

He slowly walked to the bathroom wearing only his jeans he didn't bother taking off as he went to bed. Leaving the light of he splashed cold water on his face hoping it will give him a jolt. It did but also made his head throb hard for a few seconds. He clenched his teeth as he felt around the medicine cabinet that had no door for the large bottle of Tylenol he kept there. He thumbed the top and took four in hard dry swallow.

He walked out of the bathroom rubbing his head going through his be room and into the kitchen. The stove didn't work, several cabinets were missing doors revealing they were empty, and the refrigerator was old with brownish tint from years without being cleaned. Danny opened the fridge hoping to find some breakfast. The light flickered and died as the door swung open with old package of moldy cheese and bad bologna. Danny side and shoved the door closed with quick annoyed sigh.

Returning to his room Danny spotted his hat and shirt on the chair. He slipped on his shirt leaving it un-tucked. He then reached for his cheap cowboy hat making sure not spills the things he kept in it like his wallet and keys. He took his keys and put them in his left pocket and the pocketknife and put in the right pocket. Then he got his wallet and stopped. Danny realized it felt much thicker than it normally does. Putting on his hat he opened his wallet remembering his encounter from last night. The yellow slip of paper was folded around the green wad of money stuffed into Danny's wallet. He pulled it out leaving the fully aware of how much was there. He read the note several times taking a seat on his bed in deep thought.

The proposal was tempting but the uncertainty of who this Boss person was made Danny nervous. The words "keeping an eye on you" stood out to Danny the more he read it and the fact that he referred to him as Private made even more unsettling. Danny thought maybe Mac was boss since he is the one who gave him the note and found him in the alley but the note also said "we". Danny was not up to others that had so much insight about him and he has never seen or heard of them. He was at a quandary in his decision. Sure he wanted to make good money and get out of this depressive hole he was in but he couldn't get passed the situation. Danny could just take the money like the note said but the promise of more seemed more appealing. After a few minutes of fighting himself Danny decided he see will see what these guys are about but he wasn't going to unprepared.

Danny folded the paper and slipped into his back pocket with his wallet rubbing his eyes. Looking around his apartment he found a small whiskey bottle next to the night stand in a small milk crate he use to store his stockpile of liquor. He picked up and eagerly opened the bottle taking a quick drink. The alcohol felt as if it lifted all the worries and stress he just had over the note. With a subtle perk in his movements Danny finished getting dressed and headed out of his apartment building.

It was a quick walk to a pawnshop that was next door to Danny favorite liquor store. Danny had thoughts of just going to the liquor store and how nice it would be to drown in alcohol for another night. He resisted the urge and walked inside the Carl's pawnshop. Danny was greeted with lines and racks of old junk, lawn mowers, car parts and things Danny wasn't really sure what they were. He could see a middle aged calico tabby on the other side of the maze reading a magazine with a cigarette hanging from his mouth. A radio behind him was playing some sort of soft country theme from some ballad. Danny really didn't think about it as he hiked through the clutter to the counter right across from the tabby. Danny waited a few seconds for him to acknowledge his presence. He could the tabby's eyes dart from side to side as he read the magazine like he didn't even know somebody was in the shop. Danny cleared his throat hoping it would get his attention.

The tabby dropped his magazine in his lap and lazily looked over his old black-rimmed glasses directly at Danny and said, "There something you're looking for?"

Danny nodded, "wondering if you had some guns"

The tabby who Danny assumed to be Carl chuckled and laid his magazine downing the counter next to his cashregister. Then he folded his arms leaning back in his chair that looked like a bar stool with a back. "You ain't a cop are you?"

"And if I was?"

Carl shrugged "It would be no different. Just cops tend to use guns I sell for shit that get me looked at all too often."

"I bet that hurts business," Danny commented thinking him got chummy with him he might be able to negotiate a deal later.

"You have no idea," Carl said pushing his glasses up his nose a bit more with his middle finger, "so what exactly kind of gun were you looking for?"

Danny pondered for a few seconds since he did really think about it before he got here. Carl chuckled a bit waiting w bit longer before standing and motioning for Danny to follow him. Carl opened a door that was at the end of the counter and let Danny behind the counter so he could walk in. It was a little dark for Danny but Carl continued to walk into the abyss. Danny heard him mumble somethin like he was looking for something then suddenly bright fluorescent light flashed on.

"There we are," Carl said as Danny let his eyes adjust to the light.

When Danny started to look around seeing racks of shotguns, rifles, and pistols all locked up behind steel cages. Danny was shocked to see so many guns in such a small place.

Carl had a huge grin on his face as he walked back toward Danny grabbing a set of keys off the wall. "Where you want to start?"

Danny could not help but give a soft chuckle then started browsing. Danny felt like a kid in a toy store wanting to touch and play with everything but was worried his mother would come in magically and smack his paw away.

"If I may offer a suggestion," Carl chimed in walking to the cages that contained the shotguns. Danny walked over by interested in what he has to say. After riffling with the keys Carl opened the cage letting a loud screech of metal. "A 12 gauge pistol grip pump shot gun," Carl said turning to Danny with a black gun pumping the action to make sure it was loaded or to just make the famous click. He handed it to Danny smiling.

Danny took the gun getting into his firing stance he was thought in the Hounds bring the shotgun around aiming down the sights. The gun was light even for being empty and it felt right in every movement he made. Carl watched with a smirk knowing he got a sale but just to make sure he set the hook he continued to boast about the gun.

"It a great gun with a tight choke for buck and bird shot," Carl started.

"Slugs?" Danny said still working the feel of it.

"Of course!" Carl said happily, "it's new too got I off a police officer who retired early. It just stayed in his car didn't see any action."

Danny nodded pumping the shotgun a few times feeling the smooth action. Danny was going to buy it if it was cheap enough but was wondering if he could get something else as I deal. "What about any handguns?"

Carl eyes gleamed and closed the shotgun cage and went over to another cage that lined with all kinds of handguns.

Opening it Carl said, "What were you looking for?"

Danny smiled figuring if could play to Carl's ego he might fuel his chances again. "Well since you suggested this beauty, why don't you suggest another."

Carl couldn't have been happier as he reached in pulled out two guns that looked like M1911's. Danny smiled thinking that what they were. "Ah Colt .45s," Danny said.

Carl chuckled and shook his head, "Not quite. These are both Colt Delta Elites. The 10mm round hit like the .45 but at a longer range. Basically a long range .45."

Danny eyes widened and put the shotgun on his back with the small sling it came with. He picked up on of them and cocked the slide back looking down the breach. "I never heard of these," Danny said.

"Yeah they were supposed to be the official side arm of the FBI and other federal organization. It had a great design for the round but them limp wrested pencil pushers couldn't handle the recoil and went to the 9mm instead," Carl explained still smiling, "these are the only two I got. I got them thinking I could sell them in a heartbeat but they been on these racks for years. I figured big fella like yourself be able to handle them."

Danny nodded chucking and picked the other from the racks little counter and held them both up aiming at the door. Then pulled them in turning to Carl who smile seemed to be getting bigger and bigger.

"I'll take them," Danny said.

"That's great come up front an I get yeah set up," Carl said excitedly locking up the pistol rack and leading him out the door not bothering to shut off the lights.

Carl sat in his chair and looked under the counter a came up with couple boxes of ammo and a piece of paper clicking a pin. Danny set the guns on the counter seeing the paper and thinking he wouldn't be able to get the guns now.

"I know what you thinking. But this is just a contract saying that what ever you do with the guns I am not responsible for," Carl quickly said.

Danny chuckled, "it's not like I am going to war."

"I don't know that. Besides I been through too much crap to take chances," Carl said.

Danny shrugged and took the pin and signed the paper making sure that that's all the paper was for.

"Ok well you taking both Elites, the pistol grip pump, and I am just going to give you all the 10mm rounds I got," Carl said typing amounts in the register, "I don't need them any more. You want bird or buck shot?"

"Buck shot and a box of slugs," Danny said.

"And he says he is not going to war," Carl said laughing, "Ok well all that comes to $1350. You want anything else?"

Danny looked down at his selection and then said, "got any extra clips?"

Carl clapped his paw together and ducked under counter and came back up with four other clips, "almost forgot those," he said then types some more into the register.

Danny waited a looked around seeing a brief case that looked as if it could hold all these cuts clips and bullets easily. Danny walked over picked it up and came back setting it on the counter opening it finding it has padding inside. While Carl watched Danny began fitting everything in the case. They fit nice and orderly with even enough room for a good sized knife. Danny then looked around again seeing a big selection of knives behind a glass display case. Danny wen to it coaching down to look through the selection. All came over kneeling down and looking through the case at Danny.

"You sure you ain't looking for trouble?" he said in a rather serious tone.

Danny shook his head, "just making sure I not screwed when trouble finds me."

Carl nodded in agreement realizing Danny is not just another gun nut. Danny pointed at a knife that he found interesting.

"What is that?"

Carl looked down and reached in and pulled on top of the case and explained, "This is a kukri. It is real popular in India as the basic infantry combat knife."

"Doesn't look like it would be good for stabbing"

"Well no that not it's strong suit. It's can take off a guys head with a single swipe though. The Indian army trains their trip to hack and slash in some sort of martial arts style. It can be used to stab though. Hell they are trained to throw these things."

Danny like the idea rubbing his nose where the scar from his knife fight still lingered. He then nodded, "I will take that to.

Carl nodded and put it Danny makeshift case and finished ringing up the register, "Ok. Well your little arsenal there will be $1600 even.

Danny pulled out his wallet and then the wad of money that made Carl's eyes widen and Danny though he saw a bit of druel on his lip as he counted out the amount. Danny then slid the money toward Carl and folded the wad back into his wallet.

"Thanks," Danny said closing the case and taking it with him.

Carl was counting the money over again giving a quick, "a pleasure."

Danny shrugged and left going back to his apartment. He quickly gathered up some blankets and cloths into a duffle bag slipping that last bottle of whiskey between everything. Picking up his brief case and the duffle back head back out of his apartment to a small storage unit complex next door. Danny knew exactly where his unit was pulling his keys out and unlocking the door the gate and throwing it up.

Inside was one of the last meaningful things of his brother. A custom black chopper Billy had built himself during high school. Danny walked inside admiring the clean paint job and design that Billy put so much work into. Danny remembered that he would stay up all night working on it. Danny could help but feel like the bike was his brother. The design basically was all Billy. Danny thought of a saying he heard from somewhere that said if you put so much work into something the creation is an extension of yourself. Danny could not agree more.

Danny slipped his duffle and case into the sides of the leather bags on the side of the rear wheel. Then straddled the bike slipping a single key in the ignition and then kicked the starter. The engines roared to life making adrenaline rush run up Danny's spine. He chuckled at the feeling taking off his hat and securing it behind him a spot Billy built to keep his own hat there. Danny then took the sunglasses that Hung from the handlebars slipping them on and the helmet that hung from the other side.

Revving the engine Danny realized that the evening was coming to an end and revved the engine riding out the complex not bothering to close the unit and hitting the road toward the barn where he was supposed to meet his possible new employers. The wind felt good to him lifting his spirits in a way that he hadn't felt in a long time.
