#3 of The Surprise

Chapter Three: Forced Entry

_ _

"I've never felt so great after waking up."

_Breakfast! _ Nic had never been excited about eating breakfast, but the smells wafting up to the bedroom were, to say the least, heavenly. His mouth began to water just thinking about it. He opened the door to the bedroom and padded down the stairs, finding the kitchen with little difficulty. Axel stood there, hovering over the stove.

"I ... the food smelled so good ... I just forgot."

I wasn't sure if I'd have to come and wake you up or not."

Hurry up at eat it before it gets cold," Axel commanded, thrusting a plate full of food into the fox's paws.

He looked down at the plate to see what exactly had smelled so good. It was a little like scrambled eggs, but had other things mixed into it. He took a bite of it and his tongue was in ecstasy. He'd not tasted anything so delicious for a long while. "What is this?" he asked.

Umm... shit I found lying around?" he said, shrugging.

Never have. I follow my instincts."

I'm sorry; I just meant that this is really incredible. I can't believe you just threw it together like that," he said, trying to get Axel back into good spirits.

Sorry, then. But I take a little pride in my cooking, if you can't tell."

It doesn't ever feel like I did much. Like for this. I grabbed some eggs, bacon, potatoes--mind you I had to dice those for this--cheese, some salt, a little paprika, and a bit of minced garlic. I just grabbed stuff I thought would taste good. That's all."

You've got to be kidding me. You really just happened to think of frying all that together, without any kind of recipe?"

Got a problem with that?"

It won't taste as good cold, you know."

Sorry."

Unless I'm running late or feel lazy, I make myself something tasty."

I just do what feels right."

"I don't think so. I like writing."

That's surprising."

Maybe you aren't as nice as I thought," Axel said with a grin. "Do I not seem artsy enough for you?"

"I was kidding, see?" he said, grinning and tilting up the fox's head so he could see. "I'm the one who should be sorry. I didn't mean to upset you, dude. I was just kidding around."

"How about the mall, then?"

You might want to get dressed first, though," Axel said, smiling.

"Ah! Damn! I'm sorry, Nic! You shouldn't have done that," Axel said as he leapt off the couch to kneel by his friend who was now taking wheezing breaths. "Are you alright?" he asked the fox.

He got up a little shakily, and then stretched his back out slowly, massaging it a little. He turned to face the worried wolf and smiled. "Since when were you a ninja?"

I feel fine--let's get going."

Go wait in the car. I've got to get my wallet."

"Ready?" the wolf asked, causing Nic to jump a little.

Axel drove them to the mall downtown, and they clambered out of the car and into the parking lot, which was very crowded. It was Saturday and almost noon, after all. They were lucky to have found a parking spot that wasn't too far from the entrance.

"Where to?" Axel asked the fox.

I like their clothes."

I just spat a hair out," lied the wolf, although Nic believed him.

He turned around and saw his sister, both sharing a look of surprise.

Since when did you work here?"

I came here yesterday to check their stock of fur-dye, and the moment the guy working saw me, he offered me a job. It's because of my fur, I think. I'll attract more customers," she said, chuckling.

"So do they have anything cool here?" he asked her.

Axel followed them. She pointed to an earring that stood out from the others inside the case. It was a silver hoop earring that had some kind of weird font engraved into it.

It was in some language he didn't know. He turned to his sister. "What's it say?"

"Seems it was handmade," she concluded, looking up at her brother.

"I don't have that much on me...and I really liked it, too..." Unnoticed by him, the wolf's ears perked up.

"I don't want to stick around and be mocked by the price tag," he added, as he started to leave the store. "Axel?" he asked, when he noticed the wolf was missing. He looked around, but couldn't see his friend anywhere. "Must've already left," he said, a little confused. He exited the store and looked around. There was no trace of him still. Nic walked over to a nearby bench and so down. "I'll just wait here, then." He messed around with his tail, making sure all the fur was going the same direction.

He looked up and saw Axel looking down on him from behind. "I go to the bathroom for a sec, and you vanish on me?"

Sorry. I thought you'd gone somewhere else or something."

So where do you want to go next?"

So what?" Nic snapped.

Grouchy without his sweets, he is," Axel said, grinning. "Let's go, then."

"Do you have rock candy?"

It's in the back, on the left side," he said, pointing.

It's okay. I just made him upset...I shouldn't have been so rude..."

He looked down at the cases housing various flavors of rock candy. He grabbed a bag and scooped a bunch of peach flavored rock candy into it. He walked to the front and paid for it, and then hurried out, looking around for any glint of silver. He found none, so he turned to the right and followed the pathway, peeping into stores as he walked by them. He needed to find Axel and apologize to him for embarrassing him. He came to the last store on this branch of the mall, and, still not having found his friend, turned around. He backtracked to a split in the pathway he had passed earlier, and took the other route.

So you can make fun of me a little more?" he spat, still pissed off from before.

I'm sorry...okay?" he stuttered, nervous that Axel would not forgive him. He looked up hesitantly. The wolf's frown melted into a smile.

"This is great!" he exclaimed, his eyes lighting up. "Thanks!" he said, grinning widely.

He watched his friend stand there, still shamelessly smiling.

More," he said, shaking his out held paw a little to help Nic remember it was still there.

You'll be bouncing off the walls and I'll never be able to get you to bed!" he said, pretending to be a father.

"So what else do you want to do?" he asked, done being a little kid for the time being.

"We'd better get going," Nic said, eyeing his watch.

It was getting dark, and huge shadows loomed inside the alley. Nic followed, wondering what his friend had to show him in the alley.

You bought it for me?"

I don't even know what it says..." Nic said, his voice trailing off.

"They're Celtic runes ... they spell..." he paused, looking down, "...beauty..."

The wolf interrupted him.

Axel's paws found their way to the waist of Nic's jeans.

The wolf's paw slipped into the fox's jeans and boxers in one swift movement. Nic felt boiling tears pour onto his muzzle as he found himself helpless to stop it--his sheath began to swell. The paws on him were cruel and unceasing. They found him and groped him, rubbed him, abused him. All the while, Nic felt himself getting hard, his cock tip poking out of its furry sheath. His tears were relentless, matting the fur on his muzzle.

The wolf leaned forward, forcing his muzzle against the fox's in an uninvited kiss. The wolf's lips were electrifying and forceful, but Nic could not escape them. He tried to shout out, but Axel's tongue quickly darted into his opened muzzle. Nic tried to bite down on it, but he found himself paralyzed as the foreign tongue explored his muzzle, lapping at his tongue as well. He pulled it away, but the intruder quickly found it again, mercilessly stinging every part of the fox's mouth. He felt the wolf bite down on his lower lip and he whimpered a little, frightened by the changes he found in his friend.

At once, he broke free from the wolf, ripped the paw out of his pants and jumped back. He stood there, staring at the wolf who had changed so much. Tears streamed onto his soaked face and he took a clumsy step backward.

"NO!" the fox screeched, and he turned and bolted away from the wolf.

***

Axel stood there, slowly coming to his senses. What, he thought to himself, have I done? He walked dizzily to the brick wall of the alley and suddenly smashed his head into it. "What did you do to him!?" he screamed at himself, feeling warm blood trickling down the side of his head. He realized, only once the fox had run off, that he had not only harbored a crush on the fox, but also that he had been in love with him for quite some time.

"Why did ...?" he sobbed. "Please, Nic," he pleaded, even though the fox had disappeared long ago. "Don't hate me..." he cried. "I...I messed up...I'm so sorry I hurt you...I just couldn't...control...myself..." he wept, falling onto the ground in a heap. "Don't..."he whispered, trailing off into silent tears, feeling the blood and tears seep into the fur on his muzzle.
